That was just so gripping!!! Poor Nani passing away is such sad news...it's horrid when older relatives still have unresolved issues when they pass away...you feel like they should have peace of mind when they go.

Hopefully, this will cause some break in the impasse that their relationship has gotten into. It feels a little like the Paula Abdul song Opposites Attract..."I take two steps forward, I take two steps back."!!!

Chapter 9A-

When Kushi entered what was previously their bedroom, she found the room encased in darkness, like the life of the person who was currently living in the room. She gathered the unbound curtains and opened the glass door to let in some light and fresh air. She then walked towards the pool, Arnav's favorite spot in the house. She saw his back faced towards her, his stance tensed. He was looking at sky, as if he were searching for something rather someone among the stars.

For a moment the events of two years came back to her and Kushi contemplated whether she should reach out to him, lest he repeated his actions from two years ago. But she knew that Arnav had changed for the good. This Arnav wasn't the Arnav from two years ago, there was no way he'd react like that ever again. She walked up to him and put her hands on one of his shoulders. Arnav initially tensed at her touch but then he slowly relaxed.

'What do you want Kushi?' He asked without moving his eyes from the star lit sky.

'I want to talk Arnav.' Kushi replied affectionately.

When he didn't turn his face to see her, she walked to the front to face him. 'Not now Kushi, I'd like to be left alone.' He pleaded with her.

Kushi smiled sardonically, fate did have a way of bringing back the past, time and again where they were concerned. Kushi took a deep breath in. She took a step towards him and cupped his face using her palms.

'No Arnav. I'm not leaving you alone. Not again. Not ever.' And with those words, she made the first step towards reaching out to his troubled soul. She then she placed a light kiss on his lips. Arnav broke the kiss with much difficulty and took a step back to put enough distance between them.

'Don't Kushi. I don't deserve either your kindness or you sympathies.' He told her in a tone that mirrored the deep sorrow of his heart.

'I'm neither being kind nor being sympathetic. I'm here to let you know there I'm there with you.' She told him while trying to hold his hand which he moved away from her reach.

'Dont Kushi.' He looked at her for a moment with his blood-shot red eyes, before averting his eyes to look back at the dark skies.

'Do you know why Nani's death hurts me so much?' Kushi looked at him intently. 'Because it once again reminds me what a big failure I'm in life.'

'Arnav dont...' Kushi tried to stop him.

'Not today Kushi. Let me speak.' He looked at the sky again. 'I have been nothing but a big failure in life. I failed my mother by not keeping my promise to her about taking care of Di, by breaking all ties with Di. I failed my Di by not protecting her against my father. I failed as a lover by not keeping the promise I made to Lavanya.' Kushi flinched at the words, but her own feelings and insecurities had to take a back seat now. 'I failed as grandson by not being there for my Nani before her death, The nani who had taken us in when we were without any help or support. The nani who had nurtured me, helped me achieve my dreams, helped me create a name for myself. What kind of a person does that make me? He looked at her for a split second and averted his eyes immediately, scared of giving into Kushi's understanding and affectionate gaze. 'And I even failed as a husband two years ago when I went back to Lavanya. But then I realised that I didn't want our marriage to fail like all my other relationships because of my mistakes. I didn't want to let you down' He then closed his eyes temporarily. 'But even that... I haven't been able to do a good job.' He then looked at Kushi in the eyes. 'That's what I'm, a big failure in life. I let down people who love me. Your husband is a man who can never keep anyone close to him happy.'

And with that the flood gates opened and the tears washed away Arnav's face. Kushi reached him instantly and held him in close embrace transferring her warmth, affection and something more to him. She continued to rub his back affectionately, whispering words of support, words of love. Arnav continued to cry for his grandmother, for the dreams she had seen for him and for his own inability to make those dreams come true for her. Above all he cried for not giving her a fulfilled life and not giving her the chance of creating one last memory with him before she left the world.

'Dont call yourselves a failure. You are kindhearted and have everyone's best intentions in your heart.' She kissed the tears on his cheeks.

'What happened with Nani is something you cannot affect anymore. You can seek forgiveness and lead your life in a way that would make her happy.' She kissed his forehead.

'The best way to pay you respect to her is by honouring her memories, achieving the dreams she saw for you.' She kissed each of his tear filled eyes.

'You are an amazing man never forget that. just because people don't say it, doesn't mean they feel otherwise.' She kissed his nose lingering near his lips for a few seconds.

'You have lit up my life, you make me smile, make me laugh, you make me feel warm and secure, you make me feel that I can count on you. You make me feel that I'm very very special when I'm not. And anyone who does that can never be a failure as a husband. You are a special man and I'm sure that how Nani sees you too. She'd never see you as a failure, those who love you would never see you like that.'

And the Kushi finally touched his lips with hers. Arnav gave into the kiss almost instantly. Kushi's reassuring words had given him a ray of hope. Maybe he wasn't such a big failure in life after all, that someone had finally seen him, understood him and reached out to him, that someone had bared his soul.

Kushi poured her heart and soul into the kiss. When Arnav had shared his innermost fears, his harsh self appraisal of his shortcomings, she had been moved. She'd never seen Arnav quite like this, his vulnerability had brought down her defences and all she wanted to do was to take those tears away, remove any traces of sorrow and promise him of a better tomorrow together.

She had felt that she had been far too self involved and had never really seen Arnav for the man he was or for the man he was trying to become for her and the cost he was paying in the bargain.

Kushi deepened the kiss and pulled Arnav's face closer to hers. She entwined her hands around his neck, grazing the sensitive skin below his hairline using her dainty fingers, that made Arnav shiver. She maneuvered their bodies so that she was now rested against a wall by the pool side as she continued to kiss him. In a few seconds she hoisted herself up and wrapped her legs around Arnav's body with his support.

Arnav felt he was in the middle of a whirlpool. One second he had opened his heart to Kushi, shared his fears and vulnerability with her and in the next second she had done something that took his breath away, promising him respite from his own failings.

She kissed him long and deep, with her hands sliding on his chest through his T Shirt, while clutching at his shoulders, and sank her nails as Arnav's own callous hands traveled all over her body. His rough fingers were searching over her soft skin, he brought her closer to him by molding her body to his. He felt her pushed against him when she had wrapped her legs around him, and wished there was a way she would be even more closer to him. He wanted every bit of her closer to his body, the need overpowering every other thought and dictating his actions. And his need for her shot up like an inferno, scorching through him like a blaze of fire. A primal need overtook his senses. He deepened the kiss and bit on her lower lip and then he moved one of his hands to touch the swell of her breasts through her kurti. When Kushi moaned his named softly, huskily, seductively with a longing he had never felt or heard before from her, he was lost in a haze of passion. But it also made him realise where they where and what they were doing, and the promise he had made to her. He would be damned if he broke this promise too. He moved his hands and lips away that elicited a disappointed grunt from Kushi who felt something amiss at the sudden loss of contact. He leaned his forehead to rest against hers and he whispered softly. 'Tell me to stop Kushi, tell me stop.' In reality his intentions were quite the opposite.

She looked at him with hooded eyes. When he asked her to stop him, she didn't even take a second to consider her actions or what it would mean for them, for their future. She trusted him implicitly. In response to his question Kushi nipped his lips with hers. Arnav understood her wordless reply and he kissed her in return. Their tongues battled each other for dominance, even as he slammed her into the wall again. He bend down slightly and slanted his lips over hers. His hard rough body was pressing down on her soft feminine body. He feel the dip of every curve in her body through her clothes. She was driving him crazy with a need he had never felt before; and he knew this wasn't going to be enough. He needed to feel and touch every inch of her.

He carried her into their room, to banish the demons from two years ago and start afresh. The room was now partially lit by the moonlight filtering through the glass doors. He continued to kiss her while placing her on their bed. His hands were feverish in their exploration of her body while his lips continued to worship her religiously. Kushi did surprise him with her own enthusiasm. She was inexperienced but she was a woman who felt a sudden bout of courage. When Arnav moved away from her to divest his clothes, she confidently stood on her knees and without moving her eyes away from Arnav's she removed her kurta. The act unleashed an even stronger primal attraction between them and soon Arnav was all over her, caressing, teasing, touching, biting, nipping and soothing, feeling her, tasting her, devouring her... worshipping her because he was sure, that if he stopped now, it would be the end of him.

Kushi had never felt this alive, she had never know pleasure like this, life like this. Arnav did things with his hands and lips that took her places she had never known existed before. She had tried to reciprocate with her own innocent touches. What Kushi lacked in experience she made up with hers spirit, enthusiasm and confidence. But even those innocent touches took Arnav to the edge.

When Arnav settled himself between her he looked at her seeking her permission wordlessly. In response Kushi brought her face up and kissed him softly on his lips. This simple act of implicit faith, moved Arnav. That his wife had trusted him, decided to give him another chance after everything, was willing to stay with him together, support him, was all the encouragement he needed. What followed was a sharp pain that Arnav tried to soothe away using tender words, words of encouragement.

After what seemed like ages, they were finally together with each other without any barriers, without any misunderstandings, without any pressure or fears. And slowly they both moved together in complete harmony, like two companions who had come to understand each other after years of togetherness, like this was meant to be, like this was predestined and everything that happened was just a game of fate to bring their two souls together. They both took each other higher and higher bringing each other a sense of exhilaration, they had never experienced before. She was finally pushed over the edge; she arched her back as he buried his head in her neck. She dug her fingers deeply into his shoulders and screamed his name.

Arnav whispered her name as waves of orgasm hit his own body, holding her close to him to his heart forever.

Together, they were together and that's all that mattered anymore.

They lay like that for a while. Arnav was lying on top of Kushi trying to revel in the new found peace after two years of restlessness and desolation. And Kushi finally found a sense of belonging after years of loneliness, a home for her heart after many years.

She patted Arnav's back lightly lulling him to fall asleep. It is then she realised that she had fallen in love with Arnav. She loved him, loved him with all his flaws and mistakes, with his failings. Because she knew beyond all of that was a man who deserved to be loved and cherished. That he was a keeper. And that moment Kushi knew there would never be anyone else for her.

And just when Arnav closed his eyes to fall into a dreamless sleep Kushi whispered into his ears. 'I love you Arnav.'

YAAAY!!!

DAN (s)excitement Dun.

RES.

For that dedication,

Still RES for the comment!

Edit 2:

That was intense, in more ways than one!
And I'm not just talking about the thanda pani scenes here.😆

I'm so glad that Arnav decided to open up to Khushi, thereby giving credence to his words that he really intends to give this marriage a shot.

And the same goes for Khushi, she took the ultimate step into the room of her nightmares, reached out to him, and proved that she wants to try too!
This Khushi is brave and bold, yes?

This chapter gave us an insight into Arnav's mind, and I feel like I

now know what has made him...and broken him.

And then they finally found solace in each other's arms...sigh.
Your lovemaking scenes are too hawt to handle,ya?

But the last part concerns me.
Now that Khushi has laid everything on the line, what happens next?

I don't expect Arnav to respond in kind, because in his own words,he isn't there yet.

But will he take her declaration in the right way and reassure her that they are together, hamesha?

I need the next updex. Bas.

Also, 🤗 again for the dedication!

Edited: (after a long bout of hyperventilation and calming down)
I saw the dedication to (s)expelliarmus and knew already what was to happen😃

The earlier part reminded me of the IPK scene where Arnav's tells Khushi all about his past. This one too had him fiilled with anguish and despair and was more appreciated than that one.

His redemption had to have ended in this way and was well received by Khushi by accepting him wholeheartedly.

That Arnav showed hesitation and sought her approval before taking the final plunge was another indication of how much he has changed. It would have difficult for Khushi to not realize the change in him.

Bas aur kya kahoon? They took the next step in their relationship, he was mindful of her pain and caring towards her, both sought solace in each other and she realized her love...

And the readers rejoiced! 🥳

☺️M heer :)

~edit~

You fiddle wid da dedication to (s)expelliarmus n den consummation dun!

Fate has not been very kind to arnav either, and his one mistake has cost him too much. He is a good man who had too much on his shoulders too soon, and struggling to keep everyone happy. And now he feels like a failure, the price to pay for one instance of cowardice, one bad decision.

Khushi has been able to see him for who he is, and he has acknowledged that. I feel it's too soon to say its 'love' for either of them, but given the circumstances and khushi's past, perhaps she does love this man. The first one to ever make her feel important, the first one to fight for her. They have both now found solace.

N den mature comment dun.

Consummation ho Gaya!! 😳 Super hot, I was like ☺️

Khushi's boldness is what took me by surprise... But then this is Khushi :) Louvely update!

M here!

Extreme apologies for the very late unRes K. Had a horribly busy 4 days since you posted. But the good part is I got to read it more than three times.

Death is a way of reinforcing the concept of life - it is evolutionary to bond with your partner in the most basic way in the face of death - and you portrayed it so beautifully in this chapter. Their coming together was always a question in my mind but as someone else pointed out, being there for the other in their worst times, that is what makes a marriage. And by that, she has truly married him today.

I know his moment will come soon. Women and men are strangely different that way. Women equate love and sex and men almost always have it fairly separated in their head even though it is just as much a big step.

What a solid chapter, K. Now I am the only one who languishes with the inability to pen intimacy with beauty and emotion. Dammit! ;)

*still in li'll shock* or just surprise..

Firstly wen she entered the room, aftr two yrs it was dark, just like arnav's lyf wen she came bac, wen they both entered the room together, this time aftr two yrs, it was moonlight in their.. Just showing the rays of hope surrounding them..!

Pain is a beautiful feeling cuz it brings out tru emotions, tru words and all those feelings dat remain buried inside us..!

Arnav's pain brought all that out of him.. His soul seeking for solace, cuz it was too burdened wid the force of his failures, tht he had brought upon himself!

Tru khushi cud see him chnged, but nvr she really saw tht he almost bargained his whole previous life to bring out tht chnge..!

The trust wid which khushi held him close and the hesistance on arnav's part to take them ahead, seeking her permission, asking her to take control, both in a way accpeting each other to themselves, showing them their trust and respect!

And then the consumation..! *blush* and *sigh* cuz finally two lost souls seeked in haven in each other's arms..

Arnav found hope and happiness and khushi found a mate a place to be called home..!

:).. Is it their beginning of a new chp in their 'parinay'?
