CHAPTER 19: SHATTERING PAST
Suvreen wake up as usual the next morning and start packing and removing all the unwanted stuff and furniture in their room.
Suvi: "What would he be doing right now?"Suvi took a glance at her cell phone and there is nothing on the screen "At least give me a call, you idiot!"
Suvreen took a frame from the table beside her bed; it's a picture of Yuvraj. She recalls the moment they were arguing at the furniture store and smile.
Suvi: "Am I starting to miss him? That devil?" she laughed "Unbelievable! You are out of your mind Suvreen Guggal!"She sighed "Better concentrate on the cleaning"
Suvreen continue cleaning her room. While cleaning the cupboard Suvreen accidently dropped some stuff on top of the cupboard. She start picking up all the stuff, she found pieces of paper "This look like pieces from a diary" She start reading content of all the paper

Suvi: "Did..did...he wrote this?"Suvreen found a piece of picture in between the stack of paper; it's a picture of a lady "She's pretty...I wonder if this is the lady his talking about in his diary?"
Knock knock
Suvi: "Come in"
Pam: "Maam, the contractor and workers are already here"
Suvi: "Let them start the renovating"
The renovating work has already begun with the help of Pam and Aman. Suvreen is lost in her thoughts after reading the diary. "Pam, monitor them...I'm going to have a talk with Aunt Jaspreet"
Suvreen walk towards her in laws room and knocked the door lightly.
Knock knock
Jaspreet: "who is it?"
Suvi: "It's me..mom"
Jaspreet: "Come in dear"
Suvreen walk into the room
Jaspreet: "So how was the renovating job going on?"
Suvi: "It's good"
Jaspreet: "Suvreen, why don't you rearrange the living area? I know you are good with this"
Suvi: "Sure mom" she gave a light smile
Jaspreet: "Suvi, is there something wrong dear?"
Suvi: "No...no...nothing..everything is fine. Mom there is something I wanted to ask"
Jaspreet: "What is it dear?"
Suvi: "About this" Suvi took out the pieces of diary and the picture and gave it to Jaspreet "I want to know about Yuvraj's past..mom you can tell me only if you feel like telling...if not..It's okay" Suvreen smiled
Jaspreet: "Come here dear, have a sit" Jaspreet took the picture from Suvreen "This lady is Sonia...Sonia Malik"
Suvi: "Sonia Malik...mom...is she related to the family or..."
Jaspreet: "Sonia is a family friend daughter and Yuvraj Best friend since he was 8 years old...they grew up together. Only Yuvraj can stand Sonia's attitude, temper and wishes"
Suvi: "Mom...Yuvraj and Sonia.."
Jaspreet: "Yuvraj love Sonia but Sonia never feel that way about him...to her Yuvraj is just a best friend and a person where she can demand and complaint...she had feelings on somebody else"
Suvi: "Somebody else?"
Jaspreet: "Samar"
Suvi: "Samar???Who is Samar?"
Jaspreet: "Samar is my nephew...Yuvraj and Sonia's friend...Yuvraj do treat him like his own brother" She smiled "until...he knew about Sonia's feelings towards Samar" her smile fades
Suvi: "Does Samar love Sonia?"
Jaspreet: "Samar never felt that way about her...he always thought and care for her like a little sister"
Suvi: "so its a triangle love story"
Jaspreet: "Yuvraj is the one hurting the most in the love story" Suvi look at Jaspreet in curiosity "Sonia knew that Yuvi have feelings towards her right from the start but she pretended as it never exist to keep Yuvi by her side...after college...Yuvi did propose her but she rejected him...after that day all three of them separate on their own path...Since that Yuvi changed...he turned cold and emotionless...doesn't believe in love.."
Suvi: "He never heard from them anymore?"
Jaspreet: "He is still in contact but not as before...in fact I heard from Yuvraj that Samar is coming back from overseas soon"
Suvi: "What about Sonia?"
Jaspreet: "She's a model now...and she travels a lot...nobody knows where she is right now" Jaspreet gently reached for Suvreen hand "Suvi dear, before...I was worried about what will happen to Yuvraj but now looking at you by his side...all my worries vanished"
Suvi: "I'll check out on the renovation work now" she smiled "Thank you for telling me the story mom"
Jaspreet: "Most welcome Suvi"
Suvi walked out of the room mumbling to herself."Hurmm...the devil sure have a shattering past that made him the devil he is now" she chuckle. Her phone rings, she look at the screen and mumble before picking up the call "Talk of the devil and the devil call" she laughed
Suvi: "Hello"
Yuvi: "Namaste" he laughed "What are you doing?"
Suvi: "I'm not talking to you, idiot!"
Yuvi: "Why? What have I done?"
Suvi: "Think of it yourself!"
Yuvi: "Okay okay...I am so sorry...I didn't call you yesterday"
Suvi: "Apology accepted"
Yuvi: "So...did you miss me?"
Suvi: "No...why would I missed a devil"
Yuvi: "Good, I didn't miss you too"
Suvi: "What!? Fine..Bye" Suvreen hung up the phone
Suvi mumbles "Idiot!"
Rathi's House
Knock Knock..
Rathi:"Coming!" Rathi shouted from inside his house.
Annie:"Hello boss!" Annie smiled. "Why did you call me here tonight?! New job you want me to do?!"
Rathi:"Nah" he smiled. "Just wanted to have some friends over."
Annie walked inside and noticed she was the only one in the house with him.
Annie:"uh.. Friends right?" she asked. "Where are the others?"
Rathi:"What others?"
Annie:"You must be a lonely man boss." she laughed and walked into the kitchen. "What's to eat?"
Rathi:"I was going to ask you the same thing."
Annie:"Huh?!.. What?!" she exclaimed. "don't you cook?!"
He shook his head like a clueless child. "I know how to bake, but not cook."
Annie:"How could you own a cafe shop and not know how to cook?" she asked. "Okay, I'll cook, but you have to pay me overtime, because this is after working hours."
She looked around the kitchen and finally took noticed how messy his house looks.
Annie:"boy, all the time u want the cafe clean but ur house is a total mess?" she giggled.
Rathi:"Hey hey hey, I was going to clean this place up, just don't have the time." he argued.
Annie:"Right'"
Rathi:"I must say, your very brave. Coming to a man's house alone at this hour."
Rathi smirked and walked closer to her, rubbing his hands together.
Annie:"Boss, I am cooking, meaning, I have a knife in my hand.. I wouldn't think about that if I were you."
Rathi:"Annie..?" he called out.
Annie:She looked back at him and smiled. "Boss..?"
Rathi:"Annie'"
Annie:"Boss'" she said once again, this time much slower.
Rathi:"Your name is Annie.."
Annie:"And your name is Rathi.." she replied.
Rathi:"Then maybe its about time you use it' I can't have you going around calling me boss.."
Annie:"Why not?!" she whined. "I think it's a really cool name."
Rathi:"Would you like it if I went around and called you 'employee'? " he asked. "So.. From now on, Rathi.. Okay?"
Annie:"A-OKAY boss!" she giggled. "Oh.. I meant Rathi, sorry boss.. Oh no! Rathi!"
After 30 minutes of cooking, Annie was also done cleaning his house'
Annie:"Oh God, I am done." Annie tiredly said. "Bye Boss' Rathi' sir!"
Rathi:"Wait wait."
Annie:"What?" she wondered.
Rathi:"Aren't you going to eat with me? You said you were hungry didn't you?"
Annie:"Don't worry about me." she replied. "I'll catch something to eat on the way."
Rathi:"What's wrong with eating with me?"
Annie:"Nothing.. Just.."
Rathi:"Have dinner with me!" he ordered. "Now!"
She pinched the lower part of both ears and answered "Going, Going." she walked over to the dinner table and sat herself down as Rathi brought the food out. Every time both of them made eye contact, Annie would stare back at her food nervously.
Rathi:"Are you okay Annie?" he asked.
Annie:"Uh.. I think so." she replied trying not to stutter. "Okay, uh.. I'm done, I'm going to go wash the dishes."
He followed behind her with his dish and as he was putting it in the sink, She turned around and immediately, their eyes locked. Annie could feel her heart beating faster and faster.
Rathi:"Hey.." he smiled.
Thanks to his smile, her knees began to weak and made her fall back, but Rathi caught her in time and he was still wondering what was wrong with her.
Rathi:"Are you okay." he asked.
Annie:"I think so"
Rathi:"Can you walk?.."
Annie:"I can," Annie replied.
Rathi:"Oh yeah? Walk then."
Rathi let her go and she tries to walk, only to fall again but this time she accidently pulled on Rathi, causing him to fall on her. When he opened her eyes, she found herself on the floor with a heavy weight on top of her. By the time she looked more closely, her lips was already touching Rathi by the accident.
Aniie:"Uh oh.." she whimpered quietly. Rathi's eyes widened and he quickly got up.
Rathi:"Uh, Sorry " he nervously said. "I was uh.."
Annie:"I have to go now!" she shouted, got up and ran out the door.
Rathi:"Annie! Annie!.." Rathi called out but too late, she was already gone. "You.. Forgot your purse.."
Annie:"stupid me!" Annie blamed herself after getting into her car. "How could you kiss your own boss? Oh god I am so going to die tomorrow!!! Maybe I shouldn't go to work, yeah that's it, I'm not going to work tomorrow.. A crush is just a crush Annie." she told herself. "It'll go away.. It'll go away.. It'll go away.."
She calmed herself for a minute before freaking out. "OH MY GOD ITS NOT GOING AWAY!!!"
