Chapter#1

It had been two years, exactly. Two years from the awful, unpleasant day. And in about 30 minutes, it would be the exact time when everything happened that evening, everything which was so perfect once, she was so happy, so happy that evening smiling was now hurting her cheeks.

Khushi sat in an over-sized grey shirt and black tights reaching till her knees on her fluffy bed facing the big glass window on the left side of her bed. She crossed her legs and looked at the picture she had in her lap. She looked back up to the window, gazing at the lights of London. As the lights of her room were switched off, the city lights illuminated her room and made her tears shine.

Today was Valentine's Day. The day everybody celebrated love. She could see couples of all ages passing from the busy street. The restaurant, which was right at the corner of the street, seemed to upset her a lot. The happy couples, the color red, the balloons, everybody kissing each other were just too much for her. It had been two years but she stilled hadn't moved on from him.

This was all so confusing! A lone tear escaped her left eye and just then she heard a knock on the door. And now somebody won't just let her cry in peace! Thought Khushi, as she quickly wiped her tears and put the picture under the pillow.

"Honey, we're leaving." -Mr. and Mrs. Gupta peeped in her room all dressed.

"Oh okay, I'll lock the door. Have fun!" -Khushi said trying to be cheerful but her mother knew too well.

"Don't you want to go out? You always sit inside on this day, isn't it about time you go and have some fun?" -Mrs. Gupta suggested.

"No momzy, I don't feel like going anywhere today and you know that." -Khushi got up lazily.

"You're brother is going out too. Will you be alright alone? Why don't I ask him to drop you off to the club?" -Mr. Gupta said. But before he could ask & Khushi could protest...

"Not taking her!" -Siddharth yelled from his room.

"Momzy, dad, Listen... You know how I feel on Valentine's Day so just let it be. I like to stay alone today and I'm 19, almost twenty in a few days, I'm perfectly fine at home and alone. Come on, you guys go, have some fun now." -Khushi said calmly and continued, "Plus momzy you know how dad is always busy and today, he is taking you out so it's pay back time." -Khushi added with a wink.

Mr. Gupta chuckled and Mrs. Gupta rolled her eyes.

"That's true now, I'll take revenge alright." -Mrs. Gupta said.

"You guys better get going now. It's time you forget all tensions." -Khushi said as the three of them left for downstairs. After the hugs and kisses they finally went to enjoy their dinner.

Khushi sighed as she locked the door. All the feelings came back to her and a lump formed in her throat. But Siddharth's footsteps distracted her.

"You know when your life really sucks and becomes sad?" -He said as he descended down the stairs all dressed up.

"Not now Eggy!" -Khushi pushed him aside and started to go upstairs.

"You know I'll say it anyway." - He smiled and continued. "It's when your parents go on a date and your brother who is a year younger than you has a date too but you, you're just alone, in the lonely house on Valentine's Day." -He sighed dramatically and smirked at her.

Damn that smirk even that reminded her of him! Khushi cursed under her breath.

"Screw you Eggy." -Khushi gritted her teeth and swallowed the lump. She so wanted to be alone.

"I'm so lonely, broken angel. I'm so lonely, listen to my heart!" - Siddharth sang loudly. Just before going and shutting the door he looked at Khushi sympathetically.

"Khushi?" -He called out.

Khushi took a few steps back from the middle of the stairs.

"What is it bitch?" - Khushi folded her arms and huffed.

"Ah! The sweetest things you say to me. They make me blush!" -Siddharth sighed.

"Spit it out! I don't have time."

"I just wanted to say you're FOREVER ALONE, level infinity!" -He laughed and slammed the door shut.

And it was all dark apart from the light upstairs. She hated darkness. Suddenly, all the controlled tears couldn't be controlled anymore. Her brother was right. The tears weren't because of what Siddharth said but all the memories that came to her.

Khushi slammed down on her bed and looked at that picture. It was their first picture. And Khushi's mind was covered by the 1^st and 3^rd day of school.

Flashback

"Khushi quit looking at him. A girl does not simply do that! It's a guy's job." -Lavanya came in front of Khushi in order to block her view.

"Lavanya, it's been 3 months of super torture. I haven't seen him since the last paper, please!" -Khushi whined and tried to push her away but she was as still as a statue.

"The more you ignore him, the more he'll fall for you." -Lavanya said as she made Khushi sit on the nearest bench.

"Yeah right! Same old advice. That advice literally sucks now. I mean who even made that up? He doesn't even know I love him." -Khushi tried to reason out.

"He'll know once you make a move." -Lavanya raised her eyebrows.

"No, I can't risk it. He doesn't even talk to me much so just let it be." -Khushi slumped down the bench.

"See, whenever I talk about making a move you just try to change the topic or say the same old words 'let it be'." -Lavanya mimicked Khushi's words.

"Forget it, I'm hungry." -Khushi pulled Lavanya by her elbow.

"Khushi, he hasn't stopped looking at you since 8 in the morning. And even yesterday he I caught him so many times looking at you and smiling." -Payal said wriggling her eyebrows.

"Yeah, I saw that too. Plus you should open your hair often, I think he likes it. You look pretty." -Lavanya said as she played with Khushi's hair.

"Are you sure? I mean... he doesn't do that usually." -Khushi blushed and looked down at her shoes.

"Exactly our point." -Payal said smilingly.

At the off time, all the friends were sitting and even the guys were sitting on the benches on the basketball court when suddenly everybody started giggling while looking at Khushi.

"What is wrong with you guys today?" -Khushi said as she blushed and started feeling uncomfortable around her own friends.

"Arnav has something to say to you Khushi." -Nk nudged Arnav and Arnav glared at him.

And the girls sniggered while pushing Khushi towards Arnav. Just as Lavanya gave another push to Khushi and Nk did the same to Arnav, both, Arnav and Khushi bumped into each other making Khushi loose her balance but Arnav held on to her waist.

Khushi was crimson and was about to explode as the empty court echoed with the sounds of hoots from the groups. And just then Khushi heard him whisper, "Will you go out with me Khushi?"

Khushi's eyes widened and he straightened her up and he stood just an inch away from her. She was either going to start screaming or start crying because she had never been in a situation like this before.

"Don't make him wait Khushi he's been practicing since the last paper day." -Lavanya laughed.

What would a 15 year old do who had never been in a relationship? Khushi looked around wide eyed and then up at him who was looking at her with hopeful eyes. She didn't even reach his shoulders properly and all of this seemed so ... her thoughts distracted as she looked at moving lips.

Everybody mouthed a 'say yes' making Khushi feel pressurized. Khushi heart beat was doing no good and after an eye around everyone and taking another 5 minutes of silence she just had power to nod.

And just then his muscular, warm arms slid around her petite waste and she was almost in air as he hugged her and twirled her around making her laugh a little.

She knew Nk had clicked a picture. "Okay now, you both stand there, I have to take a picture because whenever there is a new couple they are supposed to have a first-day-picture." -Nk said as he played with his phone.

Arnav and Khushi stood there together, both of them in there uniforms and his arm around her waist. And the other one was where Arnav was looking at her and she was just looking down at the floor.

Flashback ends

She held the pictures in her hands. "I miss you so much." -She whispered.
