Page 21:

Megha insisted on meeting Addu before leaving for Indore to which Mohan was raising concerns.

"Arrey yaar! Don't you believe me? If not as a father at least as a friend, I take good care of him" Mohan appeared to be throwing tantrums

"Mohan, I know you are taking good care of your friend! But that doesn't mean a mother should not check on her sick son!" Megha tried to compose herself as if she was dealing a kid

"I know you will talk to him about that girl" Mohan said and looked somewhere else to avoid her eyes

"Won't you believe me?" Megha turned him to face her

"Haaan' Naaahh' All mothers are one and the same when it comes to their son's love" Mohan twisted his lips

"Oh! You think I am like your mummy? Monnuu'" Megha teased and stressed on the name to irritate him

Mohan gave an angry look at her which turned into a sweet smile on seeing her mimic.

"For the 1000^th time I am telling you that I won't talk anything about the girl or his love! Are you happy?"

"No I am not!"

"Oh! Why is that?" Megha raised her brows surprised by his response

"You will be gone without seeing me before leaving Bhopal" Mohan touched her cheeks softly giving a painful look remembering their separation again

Megha returned the gesture by placing her hand on his cheeks, trying to heal his pain and hers as well. He then took her face into his hands, took in every feature of hers into him as if to get as much as he could. Her eyes were pleading him saying not to leave her and keep her like that forever. He bit his lips in knowing her plea, rested his head on hers helplessly. They did not know how long they stood there like that lost in each other's emotions.

"Addu!"

"Mummy!"

Addu was sweetly surprised on seeing Megha in his room. He ran to her and hugged her affectionately showing how much he needed her there. He could not control anymore and let out soft sobs.

"What happened, Addu? Why are you crying?" Megha was really shocked to see him in that state

As she consoled him, she found that he was not letting out any of his reasons for his mental illness but was trying to take solace in his mother's lap for his physical illness. She decided to stick to her role as a mother and appease a demanding kid. She quickly prepared some food of his likes and fed him. She even called Nanhi to join them.

"Arrey Addu! What are you doing sitting inside the house all day" Nanhi tried to cheer him up

"Because I have fever" Addu defended himself

"Because I have fever! Mummy I don't want to go to school" Nanhi mimicked him and acted as if crying rubbing her eyes

"Mummy, look at her making fun of me" Addu complained like a kid

Just then he received a phone call from 'Boss'. Addu quickly picked it to move away from there, while Megha and Nanhi noticed his behavior pretending to ignore it as well.

"Yes Sir! No Sir, I am absolutely fine. Thanks, Sir" Megha and Nanhi overheard the monologues from Addu and smiled at each other in knowing the person, on the phone.

"Acchaa bacchu! Now you are absolutely fine?" Megha teased him when he returned

"Haan Mummy! He is very much fine to go out and have ice cream!" Nanhi joined her

"Ok, we will go" Addu's cheerful response surprised them both

It was a lovely treat to watch Megha, Nanhi and Addu enjoying together at the nearby park. Mohan did not mean to stalk them but could not resist his urge to see his family at least from afar. He remembered those good old days when he was mesmerized by the simple smile of Megha who was just happy seeing her kids' happiness. He found the same smile spreading through her lips then and he wished to do anything, to keep her smile glued there forever.

"I miss us! And all of us being together" Mohan said to himself poking his chest with his fist

Mohan wanted to break the game and reveal the truth about him knowing Addu. But he needed the right time and he thought Addu was not ready yet at his current state. So he decided to wait for some more time but chided himself for continuing the game. He hated everything that kept him out of the pretty picture in front of him. He imagined himself and Rimjhim amidst the lovely group having fun throwing ice cream on each other.

Mohan's phone rang and he looked at Rimjhim's picture smiling at him. He cheerfully picked up the phone

"Jaan! 100 years to you! Muuaaahhh!!!" Mohan expressed his controlled emotions on the phone

"Sachchi?"

"Muchchi!"

"What are you doing paapu? Missing me?"

"Yes Jaan! Very much!" He looked at his family

"Then come to me! Simple" Rimjhim's innocent words soothed his ache

As he relaxed talking his usual way with Rimjhim, he found Nanhi leaving the place on her scooty, while Addu took Megha with him on his bike.

"Mummy, are you sure?"

Addu was asking Megha, sitting next to her, in the waiting bus she boarded back to Indore.

"Haan baaba! I will be very much fine. Now can you quit being like my protective husb'" Megha stopped without finishing her sentence. Addu looked at her surprised to hear her mention anything about Mohan after very long time.

"Shall I get you a water bottle?" Addu diverted

Megha waved her water bottle in front of him and smiled.

"I am very happy Addu, you acting like a man taking care of me" Megha proudly did the gesture as if to break evil eyes on him

"Is that enough, Mummy? You contented with my happiness?" Addu became emotional on saying the words

"What else a mother wants, beta?" Megha tried to ignore thinking his intentions

"As a woman, don't you have your own wishes or desires, Mummy?" Addu did not know what he expected but he started with the flow of his emotions

Megha and Addu were intruded by the whistle blow of the bus conductor and the bus movement.

"I am sorry Mummy!" Addu hugged Megha and got down from the bus

As the bus moved, Megha could see him waving with tears in his eyes. She was staring at him till he was lost as a small figure far away. She closed her eyes to replay Addu's conversation with her. She was wondering what went off him during those few seconds. She wished to know more but was scared to hold any expectations as well.

She felt a sudden jerk in the bus which came to a halt. She heard the conductor and driver shouting at someone before the bus started moving. She looked through the window ignoring everything, trying to focus on something that she did not know. She sensed someone sitting next to her. She turned and shocked to see the smiling face looking at her intensely.

"Mohan, you?"

"Yes, me!" Mohan turned and sit comfortably on his seat

"What are you doing here? The bus is moving" Megha panicked

"Haana! If not then how will we get to Indore?" He teased her

"Are you kidding?"

"Do you think so?" He winked at her

"Let me guess! I know you are missing Rimjhim and you want to see her" She chuckled through her voice

"Arrey Waah! You have become so intelligent, Megha!" He raised his brows as if he was surprised

"You are so bad" She masked a false anger

"A little good too! You know my poor wifey is traveling alone. So thought of doing some husband's duty as well"

"How cute!" She shrunk her nose playfully to annoy him

"How cute?" He questioned her back resting his palm on his cheek

Megha found his act really cute and sweet. She could not carry her mockery anymore and laughed at his action.

"That's cute!" He transferred his palm to her face looking deeply into her eyes

"Will you be just talking to the woman or buying a ticket as well?" The bus conductor's voice startled them apart

Mohan pulled out his wallet and found only credit and debit cards in it. Megha peeped into it while he hid it away from her. He then searched his other pockets but he didn't find any cash. He gave a defenseless look at the conductor and then Megha. She tried to control her laughter and paid for the ticket.

"Arrey yaar! I never need to use cash anywhere and why carry them unnecessarily?"

"If Rimjhim asks for a chocolate then what would you do?"

"I go to the super market where I get to use the card"

"Just for one chocolate, you swipe the card?"

"Why will I buy only one chocolate? I will buy a box full'" He found Megha's reaction not approving thus he stumbled on his words without completing it

They continued the regular conversation amidst their often bickering on something or the other. Megha found Mohan moving restlessly on his seat.

"What happened? Are you ok?"

"Haan! I am fine"

"Are you hungry?"

Mohan wondered at Megha's thought finding everything right about him. He nodded his head in agreement like a kid. Megha took something from her bag. She opened a box full of homemade sweet pedas. His eyes glittered in happiness for both seeing something to eat and getting it from the right person at the right time!

"I packed for Addu and Nanhi. Nanhi forgot to take it while leaving. Looks like she had saved it for her Spiderman" She smiled

"In presence or absence she always takes care of me" He started gorging on the sweets as if they were his meal. He signed her to show that they are delicious.

"I am missing it more now! Your cooking!"

Megha looked at him adoringly and wiped off a crumb from his lips. It passed a shiver through both of them which they found hard to ignore. Their eyes sparkled and they were staring at each other deeply. It took hard efforts to tear their eyes away from each other considering their surroundings. They indulged in other talks diverting their minds.

Megha surrounded her palms on Mohan's arms and rested her head on his shoulder. Mohan rested his head on hers holding her hands. They fell asleep completely contented without any thoughts in the background which they always had when they were spending their nights away from each other.
