what more could a man do to show he loved a woman, what more could a woman do to show that's all she wanted. the second episode of diwali and a story takes careful, mesmerized steps to the heart of it all, where the light burns brightest.
such a beautiful scene! who knew , he will break her heart after showing so much love!

yet in the same scene that takes your breath to another star, and you watch unblinking as a hand is given with unbearable beauty and taken with an an emotion you wish you'd felt in your life, as the slow, arresting steps are taken in flickering diya light and you want them never to stop, in that same scene, back of your head a sense of danger. because someone said,"yeh tumne kya kar diya..." khushi, what have you done, surrounded yourself with diyas.

first time i saw it, i was looking at the beautiful arrangement of diwali lamps, nothing felt threatening, so i was a bit surprised at the slight panic in la's voice. big deal, rows of diya, of course, she can make her way out of that thing. yet, it seems khushi couldn't; and then came asr, with a curious light in his eyes, and took his graceful strides over the rows, stood their waiting for her. who could even imagine thinking at such a point.
beautiful!

yet, there was the word "chakra vyuh" suggesting itself. enemies, battle, entrapment alongside lover, magic, enchantment. ipk was always written with depth, and all the skill, the craft of writing powerful stuff. the most beautiful scene of the week, that girl surrounded by her circles of lamps, could be a hint at dark things to come.
so true.IPK is beautiful and too intense. that's why I want season-2.don't know my wish ever gonna fulfill or not!

nainital had its destination, and it took us to a more heightened awareness, a need growing, a loosening of tightly closed emotions, and a realisation of pyaar... at the same time the rise of evil, the darkest forces of ipk manipulating the situation, the people; culminating in the pressure of shaadi.
so many things happened after the naninital trip, as if Arnav and Khushi's life accelerated few steps further.

diwali has its design. in a week of five episodes depicting just one day with a long evening, a fascinating calibration. on the first day, he sees her and is entranced. on the second, he decides to get lost in her. on the third he loses control as his heart flies its course, he struggles to find grip by hurting her. on the fourth day he shatters her as he does so himself. on the fifth day it's all over, they belong to other people, now formally. a whole chapter in the life of asr and a lovely young woman called khushi. happiness and her ocean as the tides flow, ebb. crash.
great observation.👏

he swallowed once. then he held out his hand. she slipped her hand into his after that little hesitation and he walked her out of the circles of lamps... as though guiding her out of a tricky place. and when she twisted her ankle and fell, he was of course there to catch her, their nearness sending screaming signals that their silence tried hard to contain. they stood outside the rings of fire, hands still held, a boy, a girl, a dream far away.

"chamkili, arre tumhari ek pair ki payal hi nahi hai," as they stood their lost in each other, hands still held, hearts still aloft, la came back and asked the question that will take us to the next intimacy. oh you have a payal missing, chamikili.

khushi is embarrassed to feel his eyes on her exposed bare ankle. oh the awareness of each other. she is shy of his gaze, he sees things others don't, she thinks of him, she gets lost in him, oh drop the saree quickly.

"woh humari amma ki nishani hai iss liye humko utarke koi aur payal nahin pahan nio hai." it's a token of my mother'smemory (can't think of the right english equivalent of "nishani"), i don't want to take it off and wear something else. sanaya's voice is so clean and pure here, hard to believe she is not a real person called khushi.

he is instantly alert. troubled. he has it. so it was her mother's. he walks away, and this time it is she who turns and looks for him. her eyes search, he isn't there. she walks away forlorn.
it has become their habit to look back at each other. as if they don't have enough of them.

he stands looking at the payal, remembering where he found it. the beautiful night on that day when she'd returned, when he thought she was gone forever. he'd seen the payal leave her ankle by the pool, in the heat of the moment, she'd missed it. he had come back much later, after the scene at the party and all was done, to pick it up and spend time with his thoughts, holding it just like he was doing now.

"chhotey," di calls out.

a stylish catch of the payal and it is slid smoothly, though hurriedly, into his pocket. he wants no one else to know f his thoughts. not even di.

and two perfect scenes are set side by side.

in the first one:
di and nani speak to him about la. nani has accepted her, so no need for that drop dead "
oh god nani, ab kya hua?" in fact, nani has no problems with him marrying la.he turns away at that. the classic asr swivel way. shut up, world. i don't see you, i don't here you.

"i am not marrying..." again confrontation with nani, and her ultimatum, aaj nahi toh kal, if not today, tomorrow, you have to settle down and start a family...

"chhotey..." a trentaive di, to easily troubled by chhote/nani duels.

"di, please." he is not ready to open the subject of marriage at all. something tells you, there's no point, it's on its way. only even in your wildest you can't imagine how it will reach him.

the second scene:
here we have la and khushi. la is delighted that nani has accepted her.
shuru kiya... started, says la for shukriya... thank you. thoughts of nk in writer's head? my head: why shuru kiya? what started, what does that mistake mean?

khushi smiles at her friend and corrects her.
now asr won't be able to say "no," he will marry her, continues la. oh the contrasting expressions on two girls' faces at this declaration. one all sunny smiles. the other, getting overcast, thunderclap near by.
Khushi is deeply in love with Arnav, what can she do!

at la's question about that expression, khushi recovers or at least tries to... she is so happy for la. so happy. (if you've seen roman holiday, audrey hepburn's last smile looking at the handsome mr peck, came to mind.)
oh yeah, one of my favorite movie.good assimilation!

then a tense interlude in anjali's room where shyam skulks under the covers while khushi looks for anjali. shyam is on the verge of being discovered, but again at the last minute, his wife walks in and saves the snake.

with all the uneasy feelings from the past three scenes, we take the next step, and enter the party. noise, people, general gaiety. nani is proudly escorting la around, manorama is just as proudly "sowing aaph." happiness on faces.

and that wind comes visiting again. khushi senses it, knows who's there... she looks in the direction the wind seems to point... and there's him, looking at her as he gently turns his head feeling her in the air. he turns and is just unable not to show his feelings. attraction is red. and it means to show its colour tonight.

"jaadoo hai nasha hai madhhoshiya..." a soundtrack which will join in creating the spell fades up... "tujhko bhulake ab jaaoon kahan..." there's magic, there's intoxication, inebriation... how can i forget you where would i go...

the attraction with no end nor beginning, as though always there somewhere, in the wind, in the stars, in scattering pearls, in picked up payals, and half forgotten keys... in eyes that can't not look, in heartbeats that must increase, in a need to go running if one hears the other is in trouble, in an inability to see someone's tears, in a need to make sugar free sweets... that attraction has come to the party... certainly invited. and it wants to hang with only the two of them.
just awesome! loved all the incorporation.

no matter where she turns, his eyes follow, and when it doesn't she looks all over for it. it shocks her a bit, thrills her too, and him it only mesmerizes. again i think of ocean and shore, ebb and flow, how closely ocean adheres to the shore, how much the shore wants the ocean to stay alongside. the party flows on around them, they seem in a different space, hearing a different call. a music all their own.
lovely metaphor, the song is absolutely made for them.

at a point though, they find themselves right next to each other, suddenly all by themselves... awkwardness... they begin to walk away from each other... she looks back with a query and wish in her eyes.

he is wondering what to do, when he stops, and in a fabulous shot from the back, you can almost see the decision being made by him, as he cocks his head slightly as though looking for an answer.
I must say keen observation!👏

decision made, he turns and looks for her.

she's not there. he can't locate her instantly.his eyes pick up worry, despearte almost, where is she, just a few short seconds and he can't take the separation, the not knowing.

then he sees her. and almost at the same moment she realises he has seen her (is this the moment samin is asking us to look for?).

he starts striding toward her purposefully. he means to get to her. an extraordinarily exciting scene. i think the director opted to slow the motion down, kept him in longish shot, to catch the determination in his body language. he is coming to get her. a man who has made up his mind. yet a note of a man dreaming too... again, this reality has ceased to be... the sheer force of that walk makes her step backward... oh so many times before this has been their pattern... soon it will lead to a moment no one will ever forget, but for now, she dashes into somebody, flustered.

he is about to reach her, when la neatly cuts into his path and calls him back to the here and the now. she is insistent, he has to disengage from the moment and look at her. (
a thought: did asr just then, decide to give in to the feelings assailing him, and did that sudden butt in by lavanya cause him to lose the decision he'd arrived at scaling his innate fears? guess i'll never know.)
let's ask Gul in forum-32. what say?

opportunity. khushi leaves.but she can't escape.

not when a man feels a gathering storm in his being, a junoon as it were (a very dear forum friend, nandalala would use this word for asr's passion and feelings often, and it was at this moment, no less tahn that), a madness.

he finds her by the poolside busy with her lamps. "khushi," a quiet call, shatters her composure. she gets to her feet too quickly, and twists her ankle... she would have fallen, but would he let her? oh that look in her eyes as she allows them to slowly lift to his face, so many feelings, all confusing, all compelling... and what's that in his...?

she tries to regain her balance, yet once more, a weak ankle...

he takes over...

"come," gruff, man in command. let me take care of you. (i adore the way he says, come, to her, this was the first time, there are a few more, something just too simmering there.)
can't agree more.

again before her he sits. just like that day of the flying dust. he looks at her with something in his eyes that makes her quiver, makes her want to stop him from touching her ankle.

ever so gently, but determined again, he lifts her hand away, places it on her knee. her saree goes up clearing her ankle, she is looking at him unable to say anything. he places her bare foot on his knee;
tender light, yet nothing reduces the heat.

a confused look from her... what is she to do with these feelings.? who is she to him? he to her?

his hand cups her heel. his fingers descend on her her foot near the toes, and the most goosebump giving caress of skin, before he secures a grip on her foot with both hands and... "thoda dard hoga..." it will hurt a bit.
loved your description. A simple scene, but barun and sanaya made it sensuous.

she is beyond speech.and he twists her foot.

pain.

she jerks forward and clutches his shoulder over the jacket, digging her nails in. he waits patiently, eyes never leaving her face.

one more twist and another sharp yelp of pain. and it's done. she holds on.

"ab theek hai...?"
now is it ok? he asks, he is still holding her ankle

she lets go of him.

she makes to draw her foot away, but he is holding on to her heel, not letting go.

he pulls out the payal and sits in that classic pose holding it out to her, head bent. she's shocked. this poolside where he had thought he'd lost her and then found her again and they'd fought...

beautiful!
110 is one of my favorite IPK episode.
it's really special, very close to my heart. Arnav tried to pour all his love for Khushi. And khushi also absorbed it with full heart. though the span of this beautiful moments is too short, but too precious.
a song resonating in my ears now.
"Pyyaar ke liye char pal kam nahi thi, kabhi tum nahi thi, kabhi hum nahi thi"

All the bold lines i loved most and my comments are in red.

Episode 111-113
KOI MATLAB NAHIN
Jaane anjaane dekha jo sapna, ek pal mein usey tod diya
Palbhar ke liye jise samjha tha apna, ek jhatke mein muh mod liya
Toot gaye, bhikhar gaye, saari umeed chod chuke hain hum
Bhavna ke saagar mein laakar, beech majhdhaar humey chod diya
Dekh liya tha unka chehra, bina unke gusse ka dhaal
Himmat jutaakar unsey poocha, man mein uthtey huye sawaal
Matlab kya tha unkey paas milne wale hamare payal ka
Matlab kya tha humare beech huye un jazbaati lamhon ka
Jawaab ke badle mein milgayi dil todne wali ek khabar
Khushi ke uss mahaul mein, humare aansoo beh chale bekhabar
Hazaar tukde hogaye dil ke, awaaz zara bhi aayi na magar
Hamare iss haalat ki gawah thi, sirf unki chubhti nazar
Kuch bhi na raha ab, koyi sawaal nahin, jawaab nahin
Jaangaye ke ye haqeeqat hai koyi khwaab nahin
Pehle jin baaton ka tha talash, ab yun baaton ka talab nahin
Par chaunk gaye jab ye suna, un sab baaton ka koi matlab nahin
Translation:
Unknowingly the dream that I saw, he broke it in one moment
For a moment whom I thought of my own, he turned away in one jerk
I have broken down, scattered, lost all hope
After bringing me into the emotional sea, left me in the middle
I had seen his face, without the mask of anger
With courage I asked him the questions arising in the heart
What was the meaning of the anklet being found with him
What was the meaning of those passionate moments between us
In the form of an answer, got a heartbreaking news
In the ambience of happiness, my tears were flowing unknown
In thousand pieces the heart broke, not a little sound came
Only his piercing eyes were the witness to my situation
Nothing is left now, no questions, no answers
I know now that this is a reality not a dream
The things that I was inquiring about, now I don't look forward to
But I was shocked to hear that that all these didn't mean anything

Lovely specially the lines in bold Durga true he not only broke Khushi's heart but of so many viewers who all had tears of their heartbreak.

Episode PART 111-112

Continue Diwali PART 4

What a night!? a girl who felt the amorous touch of her beloved first time and got an annulment as well on the same night but not the first time [as he is being doing that for a while].,the night for which she dressed up in red saree and prepared sweets ,lit brightness around but her own "choti si Duniya"[her small life] couldn't get a glimpse of it and became more darker.

What a night? When he knows he is wrong"galat" as his eyes are quivering ,cursing and blaspheming him each time by her shattering sight. But Arnav Singh Raiada ko kissi larki se koi fadak nahin padta …nahin… main galat nahin hoon…..to keep his control intact.

Translation:Not a single girl matters to me…I am not wrong.

PONDERING CONNECTED DOTS:

He left her that night in the rain for punishing her making him lose himself against red beauty and first time felt he was wrong"galat".

He left her in the middle of the road by splashing muddy water because she was successful dodging ASR for Aarti ,and being "galat" [wrong] roamed around by calling her name.He threw her in the middle of the road for pushing her out of his Dimag[mind] where she stirred his strings to make him "kamzore" [weak]to beat up those goons and being wrong ended up putting his protective hand on her.Tonight there is no difference he is shoving her aside by crushing hearts hers and himself too as she completely tranquilized and weaken Arnav Singh Raizada's Dimag[mind] and shattered into pieces his Armored shell which took years to build. How can she do that?"Nahin Arnav Singh Raizada ko kissi larki se koi fadak nahin padta"[No ,not a single girl matters to me]

Is that so then why you can't look away ?Why her tears are still making you "kamzore"[weak] Why this time you want to become weak to hold her desperately as you can't see her shattered but no "itna kamzore nahin hai Arnav Singh Raizada…..Keh eik Larki keh khiyal ko na nikal sake"[No ASR isn't weak that he can't stop thinking about one girl]

But she is not just a thought anymore She is REALITY…which Arnav Singh Raizada does not want to face as he is weak in my eyes…..as this journey of his towards regaining control is going no where….. So a pure "PEARL' is thrown away again…….

Lets take two steps back Arnav Singh Raizada ,from inveigle state to frightened one ,you were ready to take those scrumptious ,luscious, heavenly, quivering lips in yours with command and you wanted her to look at you while doing that as you stroke her hair and she was ready to give in as she looks back at yours in your response ,in her innocence without even realizing it but you both came back to REALITY for say but you were still in that stance as you took steps back keeping your gazes at her as it was the moment you wanted to show her "tum se fadak padta hai mujhe"[you matters to me] as in evidence you stayed there in that delusional state and then gave her back that intense look after seeing her state as your heart says "you do matter to me ..but I'm sorry [I know tumhain yeh sab shaadi se phele" is reflecting here some where] because Arnav Singh Raizada can't be weak in Love.

Pondering connected Dots:But his heart beat will stop when she will be someone's else just like the Rangoli day and that day "mujhe fadak padta hai kyuonkeh.."[It matters to me] is not far away…

[The same way he will realize "yeh kya kar raha hoon mein "….with La]

Love of Khushi will be his biggest strength of all as she will be standing right besides his mother where he couldn't place anyone else not even Di.Mother's garden.

What a night? where his eyes never left her in passion or in abhorrence ,If ASR is back so is Khushi with tears...which always make him "Kamzor" weak!...Unbearable pains for both of them,If its hard for her to leave so is impossible for him to watch her going away.If her steps are refusing to leave him ,his pondering eyes are doing the same.Seriously iss pyar ko kya naam doon……..

Khushi in gripping agony says to La,"Aap ne jaisa chaha…jise chaha aapko mila" in return of her asking twice.."tum mere liyeh Khush tou ho na".Khushi as usually hiding her pain behind her strength "smile" but today even smile is not getting any light from this night "I am so happy for you" ….."Bas yeh soch kar ajeeb lag raha hai keh ab aap ko humari zaroorat nahin padegi" [Its strange you won't need me anymore] How beautifully she declared her success in La' win but La can't get this as its Khushi not her he is announcing to be with…..Khushi gives her assurance by hug and with a broken smile for herself behind tears…..which are shedding on someone's heart. But I love this girl here as her cold attitude and ignorance now making him to seek the real Khushi behind this mask as no one can fool The Mighty ASR.Love the taste of your own meds now.

Pause here:"yeh tou Khushi keh aansoo hain Lavanya keh aansoo tou Lavanya ki ankhon mein honge".[yes these are Khushi's tears because La's tears will in la's eyes] Future indication …

Earlier gloated behavior changes into regret now.He just gulps down her unanswered painful questions which are flowing through her tears but there is a hint of surprise …"kiss mitti ki bani hai yeh" [what kind of girl is that]as she is delivering sweets under smilely mask of vivacious and chirpy KKG.He was seeking he real Khushi behind the mask. His astonishment changes into perplexity when Mamiji indicates Khushi's last day at work. She will not be here anymore….hmmm

Love mamiji here ,her salvo hits him badly…

Khushi keeping her chin up,"hum apne kam mein safal huwe…ab humain yahan se….[I am successful in my task and now from here…] ends up in front of him as she wants answers as "nahin understand"….but…..got a long pause as million questions and answers were explored in this stance facing each other bidding goodbye…..and now its unbearable for her to be "kamzore" [weak] in front of this …Rakshus…LaadGoverner….her Arnavji….and she leaves giving him the taste of her "meve ka halwa" which she made only for Arnavji….[not for Rakshus or LG] but through Anjali regardless of the reminder by La "ASR does not eat sweets".

Pause here: Khushi did fool everyone but Arnav while freezing in front of him and he wanted so alone time with her at that moment…..and at the top she gets more chirpier when Arnav found out she made special sweets only for him which showed him the extent of Khushi's concerns and care for him.[at this point he knows she loves him]The expression on Arnav's face when Khushi leaves without even looking at him ..closing the door of paradise on his face!

And that makes Arnav to leave for her to seek answers now and of coarse for her safety but with ASR BG score..But time and tides waits for none.as when answers were needed he was mum…and when he wanted to give answers permission was not granted…..[love her for that]

……from The thrill and happiness which brings Anjali to her Slouchy Rajkumar whose stingy back is waving with slickness to attack as "Khushiji will not come in RM anymore"

from the Family who wants to arrange the marriage as quick as possible but how can he ?its just a decoy ,no one can understand just like Khushi"nahin understand"

Pause here:Our Slouchy Scorpion is being cupid here as he calms the family one more time by favoring Arnav and buying time for him.I wanted him punished so badly by man handling two important assets of ASR…Anjali and Khushi……but my wish never came true.

Khushi with her tiny steps with distance of mileage in her mind with "nahin undrstand" to connect the dots [as she knows he has fallen for her and now is behind the mask]…and here he joins in to increase these distances more.

Pause here:Love the exchange of looks here as she asks him what the heck you are doing here and he is saying how can I leave you like that….So hubby and wifey look…

Khushi with agony behind smile," aap yahan kya kar rahe hain..aapko tou ghar pe….[What are you doing here.you should be at home…..]

Arnav by cutting her in a firm tone ,"sit in the car ….I'll drop you home"

ASR BG score with higher notes mingling intensity along with their yearning and pain by pushing each others away.

Khushi avoidingly,"nahin ….hum chale gyenge"[No I will go by myself]

Arnav imperviously and unyielding practicing his right ,"Shut up and sit in the car…"

Tonight he wants to push her way far by breaking her completely but her safety is still upmost duty for him as this is his right too….what a night and what a man?He opens the door and waits for her and she listens and follows. From Nainital he owns her and she obeys.BG score changes in their meeting notes….

Both of em stealing gazes in this awkwardness .Khushi with perplexity,"I forgot to congratulate you…..Congratulations for your engagement with La"

Khushi by keeping chin up"hum bohat khush hain….[I am very happy]

Arnav with taunting notes,"tou tum khush ho.."[so you are happy]

Khushi with enigma, "are hum khush kyuon nahin honge .hum bhi tou yahi chate thay"[why shouldn't I be happy?

I always wanted that..]

Arnav mockingly and sarcastically , "oh really so you wanted this…..

Khushi trying diverting the subject,"Why wouldn't be I happy….and its good you are leaving me home…Amma and Bauji will be happy to hear that too…." He can feel the complexity of her pain as she wants to be with her parents and it brings one layer on his face but he is on mission to gain control of ASR over Arnav so he does not stop there.

Arnav pinning her down to find the answers ,"Todi dair phele tum Khuch pooch rahi theen…..apni payal keh bare mein"[you were asking me about your payal ]

Khushi with affliction and throes and trying hiding the severity of it,"Oh ! that ..that is nothing]

How could a man be like this cold and shrewd on a mission to shatter a girl like this.He knows it matters to her as he has seen this in her eyes ,he has felt that in her every move and even her heart beat says that but he is adamant to make her realize that it matters to me or not but it does matter to you , because she is the one who could break the shell of ASR and because she has guts to ask and corner him with "nahin understand…samjhaeye humain"[I don't understand .make me understand] the MIGHTY ASR had no answer…..hmmm…..not so shatir in my eyes...

Arnav by taking and digging daggers in hearts,"tout um apni payal keh bare nahi janna chahti"[so you don't want to know about your payal]

Khushi in abhorrence avoiding and diverting his questions purposely being deaf about the matter,"Naniji ne tou kaha keh roca hoga aur bohat jaldi shaadi hogyegi…..Lavanyaji tou bohat khush hongi..aur waise bhi aap dono ki jori kitni aachi lagati hai….

Translation: Naniji said your wedding rituals will be soon with marriage and above all you and La look so good together]

Arnav by halts the car vehemently ,"Get out"

Khushi silently in perplexed state keeps staring at him…..

Arnav commandingly," dekh kya rahi ho….I said get out"[What are you looking at I said get out]

Khushi looks at him helplessly which provides him power as he thinks regardless internally he is shattering more than her but his blatant actions are helping him in this mission to keep her away .

She looks out side and realized her destination has arrived during the web of deception she was weaving,He did bring her home unlike last times ,[loop is closing here he will never leave her abandoned] He helps her removing her belt but not her saree"s palu and she steps down crying bitterly as she can't be strong anymore ,the mask slips away showing aching and broken Khushi, and her "kamzori" is making him strong. He with his coldness just keeps watching her un grappling her Dupatta[sarees palu] which always wants his proximity. As Khushi tugs to free herself , Arnav watches Khushi's raw face, A denuded face of deception, A face reflecting her love for him, A face reflecting her despair, her affliction at the news of his hovering engagement with La ...He had come in search of answers.. and he got one !!

She runs her home with her choti si duniya filled with tears and she knows more is awaiting for her at home too…….but his eyes are not willing to leave her yet …. [This Tycoon does not deserve her but he is in the same pain as she is or may be more .my heart goes for both but today Khushi's tears are making me to punish him]

PONDERING CONNECTED DOTS:Today he is furious to return her wallet but he will be glad to have an opportunity to see Khushi and tell "haq hai .tumhara.mujh par"[You have full right on me]

What a night? where his eyes never left her in passion or in abhorrence ,If ASR is back so is Khushi with tears...which always make him "Kamzor" weak!..Just like now he was gulping the pain while watching her coldly and shrewdly...

Pause here: His cold attitude and her tearing apart needs a standing ovation….Barun and Sanaya..hats off to you guys along with entire team.👏👏👏

@Horizon

Thnx for your sweet comments on 110 and 111.Really appreciate your time for reading both long ones at the same time.

Arshi, you seem to be only one with me on this. As all our other friends seem to love her questioning. We had a convo on this. give a look if u get a chance. It may be in Khushi's character to ask questions, but that time was JUST NOT right!

Yeah I just read those but didn't comment as I can understand where they are standing and they are not wrong either as being stubborm I am .I like the way Khushi stands up right away without thinking and we all appreciate that and that is so true to her character but The timing was odd.
Even if she says this later nothing was going to change but ,and yes but he will not make hasty decision of marrying La that's for sure otherwise what happened now ,the outcome would be the same in between them,
He always jumps to conclusion and then regrets and that is happening in 112 -113 but he wants his control back by pushing her away which he is losing in her proximity.
Anyway again this our POV right or wrong does not matter.

Once again Thnx

Very glad to see you around amidst your tight family commitments. Thoroughly treated by this write up. honestly, when I watched these epis for the fist time, I called him rakhsas along with Khushi, wanted ASR to sulk, repent like Rajesh Khanna in "Zindagi ke safar mein guzar jaathe hain jo mukam"... but the way they turned him around... so convincing, beautiful...that I had to regret! Can't waver for a second how well this character is written! Hats of Indi for presenting the two sides of the coin with the same fervor.. I felt Khushi's pain as well as ASR's! My comments in blue.

horizon,
how do i thank you for going through my rather lengthy takes and commenting so thoroughly. loved it. grateful. as you can probably see, i want to chat about ten things now he he. let's keep the tradition and start from...

10.
symphony comparison... thanks for liking it. i listen to all kinds of music, but have know knowledge as such. yes there's jugalbandi in it too. their bits are so vis-a-vis, back and forth, getting higher. the symphony refers to the whole structure. when you hear that complex play of many sounds and rhythms, somewhere it's all creating a story. ipk had that element i felt, especially in the early days.

9.
thanks. brill. 👏 yes, it is indeed the first time for him too. he has never felt this way before in his encounters with the opposite gender. thank you.

8.
i loved the way shadi rituals were hinted at with finesse. you would make the connections much much later. again, that fabulous tying of thread, clever. pity the end had to go haywire. also i liked the fact that the ideas slipped in easily, becoming part of story... nowhere did you feel a pointed reference was being made.. only when he told her, see we've done this before, that you went frantically looking for the other rasams being completed as though taht was also meant to be.

7.
sanaya was superb. i swallowed many times.

6.
payal and chabi... extreme expertise in keeping them useful, never losing thread, especially when you consider the modus operandi of india telly serial writing. week upon week almost, as the trp's dictate. still they kept the strain, beautiful. how could the same writers forget the bracelet he caressed and wanted to give her during remarriage. i sense writers pushed to the edge... losing their art... their interest. the actors still gave their best, amazing.

5.
ina and ami were chatting about how he'd have given her hell anyway, even if she hadn't asked those questions. he would have. but those insistent questions i believe were the reason he lost it entirely. those made him go and say... shadi kar raha hai. without them, he would have just found ways to let her know she is nothing to him... but would he get engaged. again, i thought the writers had thought this through very well. and were true to both the characters they'd created.even la, who accepted this without any questions. the story needed to rise to thsi climax and the writers used their instruments rather sublimely i thought.

4. and 2.
many actors have portrayed this charade, i found her to be really exceptional too. usually, you sense an "acting" in it. barun and sanaya seemed to not have kept any distance from their roles... they just became those two people. not seen this too many times. why si guru dutt knocking on my head... yeah, he used to sort of merge too with his role, remember bhootnath?

3.
i really felt all is over. sanaya's face as she nodded finally, and asr's head resting back on his seat, face contorted. funny sinking feeling in me.

1.
so very husband like. i adore their bickering. feels like my romance ha ha, people still talk of our fights like they talk about gabbar. but you know, i bet in psychology there's a damn good explanation for this. when someone's your own and arouses you completely you got to fight all the time. with others, you'd quarrel and walk away, but where there's chemistry, you'll keep coming back for more. keeps you tied to each other more viscerally somehow.

and yes, asr was a a character created with loads of gut feel and insight, without every bit in place, he might have been just hated. i think though the thing that made him work so phenomenally was something barun brought into his interpretation and challenge.

remember he said, even the things that were not likeable about asr, he had to make likeable. in that answer i thought i heard the code cracked. aha, also, that's why it just came together yelled my insides jubilantly. ha. this is a tv serial character indi, calm down.

@sohara❤️

Thnx for reading my 109-110-111

Yes he was looking at her lips but he did not have that intensity and passion at that time but that day when he pulled her he was getting weak as she was.

I know Indi imagined he would take her to the bed but I don't think so ...
but like the idea though .Did you read her SR story seriously she is way too good with her imagination. She turned that desperate SR in a small OS and damn good one.

Thnx for liking the edit .I just saw yours its really fun I don't know I have a child in me for these kind of things ,love to do these al the time...😊

what more could a man do to show he loved a woman, what more could a woman do to show that's all she wanted. the second episode of diwali and a story takes careful, mesmerized steps to the heart of it all, where the light burns brightest.

dheere se jaanaa bagiyan mein
re bhanwraa
dheere se jaanaa bagiyan mein

kahin paat naa gir jaaye koi
kahin phool naa murjhaaye koi

yet in the same scene that takes your breath to another star, and you watch unblinking as a hand is given with unbearable beauty and taken with an an emotion you wish you'd felt in your life, as the slow, arresting steps are taken in flickering diya light and you want them never to stop, in that same scene, back of your head a sense of danger. because someone said,"yeh tumne kya kar diya..." khushi, what have you done, surrounded yourself with diyas.

first time i saw it, i was looking at the beautiful arrangement of diwali lamps, nothing felt threatening, so i was a bit surprised at the slight panic in la's voice. big deal, rows of diya, of course, she can make her way out of that thing. yet, it seems khushi couldn't; and then came asr, with a curious light in his eyes, and took his graceful strides over the rows, stood their waiting for her. who could even imagine thinking at such a point.

yet, there was the word "chakra vyuh" suggesting itself. enemies, battle, entrapment alongside lover, magic, enchantment. ipk was always written with depth, and all the skill, the craft of writing powerful stuff. the most beautiful scene of the week, that girl surrounded by her circles of lamps, could be a hint at dark things to come.

nainital had its destination, and it took us to a more heightened awareness, a need growing, a loosening of tightly closed emotions, and a realisation of pyaar... at the same time the rise of evil, the darkest forces of ipk manipulating the situation, the people; culminating in the pressure of shaadi.

diwali has its design. in a week of five episodes depicting just one day with a long evening, a fascinating calibration. on the first day, he sees her and is entranced. on the second, he decides to get lost in her. on the third he loses control as his heart flies its course, he struggles to find grip by hurting her. on the fourth day he shatters her as he does so himself. on the fifth day it's all over, they belong to other people, now formally. a whole chapter in the life of asr and a lovely young woman called khushi. happiness and her ocean as the tides flow, ebb. crash.

But tides come back again and again and undercurrents remain in the ocean to come up any time when least expected
he swallowed once. then he held out his hand. she slipped her hand into his after that little hesitation and he walked her out of the circles of lamps... as though guiding her out of a tricky place. and when she twisted her ankle and fell, he was of course there to catch her, their nearness sending screaming signals that their silence tried hard to contain. they stood outside the rings of fire, hands still held, a boy, a girl, a dream far away.

"chamkili, arre tumhari ek pair ki payal hi nahi hai," as they stood their lost in each other, hands still held, hearts still aloft, la came back and asked the question that will take us to the next intimacy. oh you have a payal missing, chamikili.

khushi is embarrassed to feel his eyes on her exposed bare ankle. oh the awareness of each other. she is shy of his gaze, he sees things others don't, she thinks of him, she gets lost in him, oh drop the saree quickly. but why when cshe wears chudidar the shyness of wearing a saree or his intense gaze
"woh humari amma ki nishani hai iss liye humko utarke koi aur payal nahin pahan nio hai." it's a token of my mother'smemory (can't think of the right english equivalent of "nishani"), i don't want to take it off and wear something else. sanaya's voice is so clean and pure here, hard to believe she is not a real person called khushi.👏👏

he is instantly alert. troubled. he has it. so it was her mother's. he walks away, and this time it is she who turns and looks for him. her eyes search, he isn't there. she walks away forlorn.

he stands looking at the payal, remembering where he found it. the beautiful night on that day when she'd returned, when he thought she was gone forever. he'd seen the payal leave her ankle by the pool, in the heat of the moment, she'd missed it. he had come back much later, after the scene at the party and all was done, to pick it up and spend time with his thoughts, holding it just like he was doing now.

"chhotey," di calls out.

a stylish catch of the payal and it is slid smoothly, though hurriedly, into his pocket. he wants no one else to know f his thoughts. not even di. yes how I smiled and liked this gesture

and two perfect scenes are set side by side.

in the first one:
di and nani speak to him about la. nani has accepted her, so no need for that drop dead "
oh god nani, ab kya hua?" in fact, nani has no problems with him marrying la.he turns away at that. the classic asr swivel way. shut up, world. i don't see you, i don't here you.

Is it the love story of Arshi the intensity is there today both are aware of their heightened senses of each other as a man woman
khushi smiles at her friend and corrects her.
now asr won't be able to say "no," he will marry her, continues la. oh the contrasting expressions on two girls' faces at this declaration. one all sunny smiles. the other, getting overcast, thunderclap near by.

at la's question about that expression, khushi recovers or at least tries to... she is so happy for la. so happy. (if you've seen roman holiday, audrey hepburn's last smile looking at the handsome mr peck, came to mind.)

then a tense interlude in anjali's room where shyam skulks under the covers while khushi looks for anjali. shyam is on the verge of being discovered, but again at the last minute, his wife walks in and saves the snake.😡😡 yes the story has to go on and he has to be instrumental in bringing the lover together

with all the uneasy feelings from the past three scenes, we take the next step, and enter the party. noise, people, general gaiety. nani is proudly escorting la around, manorama is just as proudly "sowing aaph." happiness on faces.

and that wind comes visiting again. khushi senses it, knows who's there... she looks in the direction the wind seems to point... and there's him, looking at her as he gently turns his head feeling her in the air. he turns and is just unable not to show his feelings. attraction is red. and it means to show its colour tonight.

"jaadoo hai nasha hai madhhoshiya..." a soundtrack which will join in creating the spell fades up... "tujhko bhulake ab jaaoon kahan..." there's magic, there's intoxication, inebriation... how can i forget you where would i go...

the attraction with no end nor beginning, as though always there somewhere, in the wind, in the stars, in scattering pearls, in picked up payals, and half forgotten keys... in eyes that can't not look, in heartbeats that must increase, in a need to go running if one hears the other is in trouble, in an inability to see someone's tears, in a need to make sugar free sweets... that attraction has come to the party... certainly invited. and it wants to hang with only the two of them.

no matter where she turns, his eyes follow, and when it doesn't she looks all over for it. it shocks her a bit, thrills her too, and him it only mesmerizes. again i think of ocean and shore, ebb and flow, how closely ocean adheres to the shore, how much the shore wants the ocean to stay alongside. the party flows on around them, they seem in a different space, hearing a different call. a music all their own.

at a point though, they find themselves right next to each other, suddenly all by themselves... awkwardness... they begin to walk away from each other... she looks back with a query and wish in her eyes.

he is wondering what to do, when he stops, and in a fabulous shot from the back, you can almost see the decision being made by him, as he cocks his head slightly as though looking for an answer.

decision made, he turns and looks for her.

she's not there. he can't locate her instantly.his eyes pick up worry, despearte almost, where is she, just a few short seconds and he can't take the separation, the not knowing.

then he sees her. and almost at the same moment she realises he has seen her (is this the moment samin is asking us to look for?).

he starts striding toward her purposefully. he means to get to her. an extraordinarily exciting scene. i think the director opted to slow the motion down, kept him in longish shot, to catch the determination in his body language. he is coming to get her. a man who has made up his mind. yet a note of a man dreaming too... again, this reality has ceased to be... the sheer force of that walk makes her step backward... oh so many times before this has been their pattern... soon it will lead to a moment no one will ever forget, but for now, she dashes into somebody, flustered.

he is about to reach her, when la neatly cuts into his path and calls him back to the here and the now. she is insistent, he has to disengage from the moment and look at her. (
a thought: did asr just then, decide to give in to the feelings assailing him, and did that sudden butt in by lavanya cause him to lose the decision he'd arrived at scaling his innate fears? guess i'll never know.)

opportunity. khushi leaves.but she can't escape.

not when a man feels a gathering storm in his being, a junoon as it were (a very dear forum friend, nandalala would use this word for asr's passion and feelings often, and it was at this moment, no less tahn that), a madness.

he finds her by the poolside busy with her lamps.

(i adore the way he says, come, to her, this was the first time, there are a few more, something just too simmering there.)

again before her he sits. just like that day of the flying dust. he looks at her with something in his eyes that makes her quiver, makes her want to stop him from touching her ankle.

ever so gently, but determined again, he lifts her hand away, places it on her knee. her saree goes up clearing her ankle, she is looking at him unable to say anything. he places her bare foot on his knee;
tender light, yet nothing reduces the heat.

a confused look from her... what is she to do with these feelings.? who is she to him? he to her?

his hand cups her heel. his fingers descend on her her foot near the toes, and the most goosebump giving caress of skin, before he secures a grip on her foot with both hands and... "thoda dard hoga..." it will hurt a bit.

she is beyond speech.and he twists her foot.

pain.

she jerks forward and clutches his shoulder over the jacket, digging her nails in. he waits patiently, eyes never leaving her face.

one more twist and another sharp yelp of pain. and it's done. she holds on.

"ab theek hai...?" now is it ok? he asks, he is still holding her ankle

she lets go of him.

she makes to draw her foot away, but he is holding on to her heel, not letting go.

he pulls out the payal and sits in that classic pose holding it out to her, head bent. she's shocked. this poolside where he had thought he'd lost her and then found her again and they'd fought...
