PART VII: Friendship
He saw the shadow coming closer to him…. He could feel the hands move all over him…. It was pressing and caressing him in areas that he dint like… but his body seemed to think different…. He kept moaning to stop.. he could hear the shadow laugh at him… all he could do was let the tears flow from his eyes… freely as he seemed to be dumb for the moment… no voice came out from his mouth…. Only ones that were coming out was Ummm and Ahhaaa that too feebly….. He moved his head sideways trying to remove the shadows hands from his mouth.. but it only made the hand hold him stronger…. He could feel the hand caressing his forbidden areas and a sense of disgust filled him.. he felt like puking…. He was sweating badly and fighting to breath also…
How dare you Guddu….. The shadow sneered…
I warned you not to do it dint I ??? it laughed evilly….
Now you are gonna pay….. it laughed again….. I'm gonna hurt your bauji…. And even Pari now…. It said…
No….. let her be…. he managed to mumble….
No…. never…. No c** for me my toy… whispered the shadow
He moaned harder
Now it is you… next I'll get your Pari too…. it laughed..
No.. if you touch her…. Arnav shouted with all his strength… he was sweating and tears made his cheeks wet…. He got up in a jerk…. That is when he realized it was a dream… he dint know for how many days he was to get such horrible dreams… he got up from his bed to find that he had pi**** in his shorts again…. He took them out and started washing them.. He wore a new one…. And sat down… he was wide awake… it was 3 in the morning…. And still dark…. But sleep was far away from him… he wore his slippers and left the house, closing the door… he went to the rose garden in the Sheesh Mahal… there he sat down trying to find the comfort that he had got for the past 3 days…
Kushi had slept off early last night… she had played a lot with her Guddu… she smiled as she came out of the washroom after flushing…. It was 3 in the morning…. And she had suddenly lost her sleep… it was as thought someone had called her for help.. She had gotten up.. but then had realized it was a dream…. she drank some water and looked at the small cup where her Guddu had shown her how to grow plants.. he had placed few fennel seeds in the cup which had mud in it… he had told her to water it for few days and she could see new young plants coming out of it…. Kushi was very excited abt this… and had watered it daily…. Guddu had been really nice to her…. She was happy to get a friend now… but she dint like how he was friends with others too.. so she had decided not to let him play outside…. She thought abt this firmly as she went and stood near her window… tat is when her eyes fell on a boy sitting under a light post…. Guddu… she whispered… and ran from her room towards the place he was sitting...
Arnav was sitting on the bench lost in his thoughts… he was scared and nervous…. He was told by his dad that they had to visit the psychiatrist today… he knew he was not mad…. A psychiatrist was a doctor for mad people.. or that is what he was told… already, his friends from the colony don't play with him… he had heard Bina kaki say that he is going mad and if the kids play with him, they will also go mad… and now even his father is taking him to that mad treating doctor… he felt a sting in his eyes and tears flew down from it…
Guddu??? What are you doing here??? Came a beautiful but authoritative voice…
Wo… I couldn't sleep so thought of sitting here he said not looking to see who it was.. he very well knew who that voice belonged to….
Hmm ok come with me… we will go to my room… she said pulling his shirt sleeve..
Ok… saying he got up and followed her.. He thought may be she could help him in this one also….
Both the friends settled down on Kushi's bed….
Tho… tell me what is bothering you??? Did those boys trouble you again?? She asked as her eyes burned with anger…
No no… those boys don't disturb me now a days… its just that.. I was thinking… saying he went silent.. he dint know how to tell her….
What is it..??? Kushi asked…. Tell me.. I am your friend no….
Hmmm wo… bauji said we needed to go to a psychiatrist today….
Psychiatisist??? Who is that???Kushi asked…
Its trist… Psychiatrist.. he is a doctor who treats mental patients… he said acting like a big boy….

Cos Bena Kaki was saying so… she said I was mad and if kids play with me they will also become mad… he replied her
Really…. I don't mind becoming mad…. I want to be like you… Kushi said enthusiastically….
What?? People will make fun of you…. You cannot become mad…Arnav said horrified by the fact she wants to be like him….
Arrey.. but what is wrong…. I don't understand… you sleep, eat, walk, talk study and play like other kids then how are you mad and others are not??? What does a mad do??
Mad means…. Mad.. that is all.. I'll show you sometime later….. Arnav told her not knowing how to describe a mad person..
So when are you and kaka going to this doctor??
Today by 10… I'm he started and gulped down.. I'm scared Pari… he said in a broken voice…
Don't worry Guddu… I'll also come with you.. If the doctor says something I'll save you… she said in a matter of fact way… ok now come here and sleep… she said and patted on the place next to her…. Arnav nodded his head and lied down where he was asked to…. Kushi too slept off…. Both the kids slept in the same bed snuggling to each other… and that is how Daima found these two after 3hours….
Amar was really worried… Arnav was missing.. he had got up at 4:30 as usual and had found Arnav's bed empty… he had searched the whole colony and had even looked for him in the garden.. but he was missing… frightened, he had run to his sole well wisher…. Sashi… it was 5:30 when Shashi was woken up by a frantic Amar….
Malik… Guddu…. Wo… nahi hai… he cried..
Amar… shanth ho jao.. sit down… saying he gave him a glass of water…. Now tell me what is it….
Guddu is not in his room… I checked every where…. He cried…
Amar let us check again… he must be somewhere in Sheesh Mahal.. saying Sashi called his other servants and asked them to check the empty rooms…. The whole Sheesh Mahal was awake by 6… everyone was busy searching for Arnav who was now peacefully sleeping with his Pari… Daima suddenly got an idea and checked in Pari's room…. She opened it and was surprised to find him there along with Pari… she smiled and went off to get Malik and the frantic Amar…both the men hurried towards Pari's room and heaved a sign of relief when they saw their kids safe and sound…. Amar dint know what to say… a servant boy sleeping with the owner…how was that possible…. He was in a state of dumbness…. But Shashi smiled…. His pari would help her Guddu out of this ordeal… she was so like her mother… he thought as he went near her and caressed her head… She snuggled closer to her Guddu and mumbled his name…. Shashi smiled at his daughter… he nodded to Amar and they left the room leaving the friends in their sweet dreams….
It was after another hour that Daima came in and wake the two up.. it was a strong rule in SM that no one shd sleep after 7… both the kids did their morning activities and got ready… Amar was ready and came to Shashi to tell him abt the appointment…. But he was surprised when he saw Baldev, the driver and Pari ready to take him… he tried to refuse the generous offer of the Guptas but Pari never took no for an answer… she even went to the extent of saying that she alone will take her Guddu to the doc and Amar can stay back…. Amar lost this battle with the small Pari and took both the kids to the doc…..
Dr. Khanna.. a renowned child psychiatrist…. He was specially called down to Lucknow by Shashi Gupta… he was really surprised as this was the first time he was called in that too for a servants child… he was looking forward to meet this Amar and Arnav Mallik who were so special to his friend Shashi… the door was knocked and in came his secretary informing him of his patients arrival… following her, first a girl of 6 or 7 came in then came in a boy of say 10 or 11 followed by a middle aged man of abt 35+ he smiled and the children wished him… it was the girl who had caught his attention… her confidence and her dominance on the boy was unmistakable… anyone who met them could see the way she was protective over the much elder boy…. He smiled as he knew this could be useful in the treatment…
Hello Guddu…. Dr Kanna (Dk) said patting Arnav's head… he saw Arnav flinch and move away from his mere touch.. he understood that the boy was still in trauma.. he had read the reports…. The man that had abused the boy was in his late 20s and Arnav has shown violent behaviors towards men of similar age groups (remember the school incident) Dk signed… there was lot of work to be done… he had already talked to Amar and explained what he had to do… the treatment would involve with therapies for him, the family and his friends… all together… he had to be accompanied by a person who he could trust…Amar had accepted all this as he wanted his son to be alright…. The next 1 hour, Dk tried to talk to Arnav… but he dint even respond to one question… it was only Kushi who did all the answering…. After one hour, he asked he Maliks to leave and see him after 2 days… Dk signed…. Arnav has pushed all the feelings inside him.. if he need to get into the child that would be possible only through the girl…. So next he decided to befriend Kushi…
The maliks reached Sheesh Mahal and was shocked… Sashi stood there smirking at the effect of his decision on Amar…
Par Mallik… how can we?? He asked in a chocked voice
Kyu nahi… Guddu is like my son too you know… he replied authoritatively..
But….
Not buts Amar… we have shifted all your things here itself…. Guddu gets the next room to Pari and you can stay in the next room of the study…. End of discussion saying he left Amar who was gaping at his behind….
Never in his life had he heard of such Maliks.. one saves his son another is giving him support… he dint know how he was going to repay their kindness… he wiped his tears and took his bag to the allotted room as Guddu had already been taken to his room by his Pari…..
The next day, Manohar entered Shashi's study with his son Shyam….. His son had just finished his 12th.. he was 17 and was helping his dad in his holidays….
Arrey Jha come.. kya bath hai…. Both father son had decided to grace my humble house with your presence.. Teased Shashi…
Oh please Gupta….. you remember Shyam right??? He introduced his son by patting his back…. He smiled proudly.. Shyam was a really good boy… studious, calm and very obedient.. He loved his father and respected all the values he had been given by the family….
Of course Jha… saying Shashi came near Shyam.. Welcome son… how are you doing…? He asked smiling…
Good uncle…. So how is Pari??? He asked… remembering the small cute girl who used to call him Bha and run behind him in Delhi…
She is good… she is busy with her friend now.. just wait I'll call her….
No.. its ok…. But before he could finish.. the study door was opened and Kushi along with Arnav ran inside….
Bauji…. Can we go out today??? She asked with so much enthusiasm that bough a smile on all the adults faces….
Arrey Jha uncle… and bha??? She yelled as she saw Shyam standing there smiling at her… she ran towards him and hugged him.. Shyam lifted her up and kissed her on her cheek, earning a giggle from her….
Arnav was getting annoyed by all this…. What the.. he felt like saying for the first time…. He kissed her??? He couldn't believe it…. He dint like how Shyam and Kushi were so happy with each other.. Somewhere he felt sad that Kushi might also leave him… he looked longingly at Shyam and Kushi as they shared pleasantries…..
One minute.. Kushi said and ran to Arnav… she held his hand and pulled him towards Shyam
This is Guddu bha…. She introduced Arnav… Shyam smiled but Arnav was glaring at him… unknown to him he was feeling very possessive abt Kushi…. Shyam at first found it a bit odd but then shrugged it off….. They talked for little more time and then Shyam bid bye to all and left the place… Arnav couldn't be more happy to see Shyam leave… now his Pari was only his to play with ……
