It turns out to be a sad month for the music industry. Renowned violionist Lalgudi Jayaraman passed away today. He was 82 and has a son and daughter. His son Lalgudi GJR Krishnan and daughter GJR Vijayalakshmi are also famous violionists.
Jayaraman was born in Lalgudi village near Tiruchi. He started his music career at the age of 12 and has accompanied veteran singers on the violin like GN Balasubramaniam, Musiri and Maharajapuram Santhanam. However, he has never accompanied a woman singer on the string as his father was against it.
He is known for creating a separate style in music called the Lalgudi Bani. His compositions are widely used in bhrathanatyam, vocals and also for instrumental.
After the sad demise of PB Srinivas and Rama Moorthy this sudden death of Lalgudi Jeyaraman comes as a sad news for all the music lovers.
