Filmmaker Susi Ganesh has added a new feather to his cap. His first Hindi movie, 'Shortcut Romeo', will premiere at the 66th Cannes Film Festival, starting May 15. The film, which has Neil Nitin Mukesh, Ameesha Patel and Puja Gupta, will be screened at the French Riviera on May 22.
Says Ganesh, "It's amazing that my first Bollywood film is getting this kind of exposure. It is an out-an-out commercial entertainer, which has fight sequences and fun songs. Even as we celebrate 100 years of Indian cinema, it is nice that Shortcut Romeo represents the commercial face of Bollywood in the festival's 66th edition."
The movie is a remake of the director's own superhit Tamil film, Thiruttu Payalae, and has music by Himesh Reshammiya. It is about a filthy rich housewife, who is having an extra-marital relationship to keep herself busy, and will go to any lengths to hide her affair from her husband. Neil plays a young, ambitious and immoral man, who even stoops to the level of blackmailing the lady to support his expensive tastes. Puja plays a victim caught in the crossfire.
Shortcut Romeo, produced by Susi Ganesh Productions, releases June 21.
