Chapter 14- The truth changes all

"we should really tell her about this' you should have seen her'. She's like a dead girl' her skin is white'I've never seen her like that ever in my life." Said imraan to the others.

"I know beta ..its time we should tell her the truth'" said rajesh looking at Arnav. Arnav closed his eyes in pain as he felt something odd about the fact that they will reveal Khushi about everything.

"tell her what?" asked alia curiously. "alia beta 'even you listen to us very carefully about what we're going to reveal cuz it will change the whole life style of our lives. Be patient till Khushi comes."

"is it something serious?" she asked. "yes dear."

Just then Khushi entered the room like a ghost. Her state shocked everyone. Including Arnav.

"people I know I look like shit. Don't worry I'll go to a doctor tomorrow morning the first thing" said Khushi trying to cheer up everyone else.

"sit Khushi'we need to discuss something important." "okay"

She sat down and promised herself not to let anyone see the pain she's going through. She smiled , she tried. But Arnav noticed the pain in her eyes everyone did. Her smile just made her pale face lightened a bit.

"ehem'what are ya'll looking at. I'm not dead yet. So what's so important to discuss about right now? I thought I would go to sleep early"

"Khushi 'um how to start it'" stammered rajesh.

"Khushi do you believe in supernatural creatures? Like vampires. The ones in your books?" asked Arnav giving a helping hand to rajesh.

"what?? No' I don't'what kind of a question is that?"

"well then from now on start believing'vampires do exist."

That's when Khushi broke in to a fist of laughter. It was sincere and innocent. She forgot her pain for a second and she was laughing.

"so Arnav you're saying that vampires exist. Did you knock your head somewhere? Are you insane? I thought I was the one to go to the doctor but you should come with me. Have you met one yourself?"

"no Khushi he's right' vampires exist." Said imraan.

"fine if ya'll insist'but bring a vampire to me and I'll believe you. Now let me eat I'm tired."

"you've seen vampires, you've been with vampires, you've talked with vampires." Said Arnav looking serious.

"you're talking like you're a vampire yourself." Said Khushi.

Just then memories of past started flooding in her mind. Her parents were killed. 'Was it a vampire who killed them. No 'they are just making fun of me. Its not possible' thought Khushi.

"Khushi 'you're talking to one right now." Said karan.

"Arnav?" "yes" again she started laughing. "yes yes '.he's a vampire 'his characteristics are just like a vampire. But that doesn't mean he's a vampire" said Khushi.

'think Arnav 'prove her' thought Arnav. Just then he stood up from where he was took the knife and cut his palm right infront of Khushi. Everyone gasped.

"Arnav are you insane?" Khushi went to him with an instant and took his palm in hers and looked at the wound. It started healing. She looked at his palm with shock written over her face, she looked at Arnav who looked back at her. That's when realization dawned her. 'his icy cold skin. Blue eyes.he's not human. Your fantasies are coming true Khushi. Am I dreaming?' thought Khushi and took a couple of steps backwards.

"you!! You!! Are not hu'" stammered Khushi and she fainted.

"Khushi'wake up.."

"Khushi beta"

"Khushi!!!"

Everyone was around her. When she opened her eyes. She saw everyone she recognized them. But she was looking for someone else. "Arnav" she murmured his name.

"I'm here" he said.

"tell me that I had a nightmare and it's not true"

"I'm sorry Khushi but it's the truth" came the reply.

"but 'but how is it possible."

"it's possible beta" said rajesh. He came to her and sat next to her.

"but after all these time why are you telling me now all of a sudden."

"Khushi u must know' because of what you're going to face." Said dadi

"what I'm going to face." Asked a surprised Khushi.

Then dadi and rajesh explained the process of a change and about the hunting clans as well as the vampires.

After all of this Khushi took a deep breath. "so that means I'm gonna change. is that so?"

"yes." Replied Arnav.

"how do you know?" asked Khushi

"I've been there once, your brothers have been there" came the reply.

They explained her the history of their families. They reveal bits and pieces of Arnav's history. Which made Khushi settle a bit with the story. She calmed down. Alia came to her and sat next to her took her hand and held it tight. "so if ya'll are hunters then why don't you kill him?" said Khushi pointing at Arnav. "beta ..change is gradual and incremental. It'll take time and we wont be here to take care of you. So we made him promise that he'll take care of you until you change in to a hunter. And to train you enough to take care of yourself."

"ohh ..soo you trust him with my life?"

"yes.!! He saved you once. That's enough for us to trust him."

"saved me once? But'.." Khushi's words were cut off by Arnav.

"I think we should leave her alone for a while. She needs rest."

"yes ..lets go"

"um Arnav mind if I ask you a question?"

"shoot"

"so this mean you're technically my great great great grandfather right? Because you know you're my grandfather's mother's brother right? So does that mean I can call you grandpa right?"

that's when everyone started laughing for a while.

"ummm I guess so'but it would be much better if you call me Arnav than grandpa cuz I look like a 21 year old boy"

Khushi looked at Arnav for a while . then looked at others.

"dadi mind if I ask you a question?" "yes beta"

"did vampires kill my family? Ma ,pa and my little brother?" and a tear drop escaped from her eyes.

Dadi nodded in approval and left the room.

"do not trust anyone''''''" those words echoed in her mind when drowsiness took over her.

Alia was pacing back and forth in her room when she heard a knock. She opened it to find sid standing there.

"don't come in'" "alia..whats wrong with you?"

"I said don't' I don't trust you anymore sid. This time I'm not acting .this time its for real sid. Tell me the truth. Are you a vampire? They mentioned Arnav being a vamp, but what about you?"

"yes alia I am one of them. And I'm sorry I didn't tell you about this before"

"what?? You're sorry?? For what? Why didn't you tell me about this before. Where does this thing leave us ? huh?"

"I don't know alia'I really don't know'I didn't tell you because'."

"you felt insecure? Is that right? You felt that I would reveal your secret. Right?"

"no alia..thats not true!!! I thought that '.you'll be scared of me and will run away from me"

"me '? To hell with that sid'I really don't see why I even like you now. I feel disgusting. You are a vampire. How can we have a relationship? Just forget that. Did you ever think what will happen when I get to know this secret of yours. Don't you remember you're the one who brought the rule 'no more secrets' and I used to tell you everything and you hid everything about you. I was just living a lie of a perfect boyfriend. I feel betrayed."

"but alia ..i know '"

"no you don't know' you know nothing.i think we should go our separate ways." Said alia crying.

"fine then if that's what you want'that's what you get. I don't care." Said sid in anger.

Alia was about to close the door in his face when he pushed it back.

"you know what'you're not the only one who needs a break. Even I deserve a break from your crap. We're done. !!!"

She banged the door in his face and started crying on her own. Sid went away angrily to his room and kicked closed the door.

This was witnessed by Arnav. He understood that they were playing an act previously but now they are done for good. And he was somehow or ever was a reason of them breaking up. He felt guilty. But he swore to himself that he will fix everything.
