😆 😆 😆😆 - oh Deepti. You had me grinning with Akash's entry. So true to form - 😆. Waise i just wish you had given some more details on how Yash won his kids' love and trust over again. Kids are very forgiving - way more than we adults, and often, more forgiving than we deserve. But he hurt them so much and at the time they needed him the most that the sadist in me wanted to see him talve chato-ing.

Have fun with your little one. My second one has already planned that every 2nd day of her summer vacation is going to be girls'-day-out with mom. Lord knows where i am going to find the time to do that...

Chapter 38

Some packages arrived at the Scindia mansion. Gayatri was very puzzled as to who could have ordered them. Certainly not her husband, thought Gayatri, as she would have known about it. Certainly not Pankaj as Vidhi would have informed her about it. As Pratik and Paridhi had gone to visit Pari's parents so it left only Yash. What could Yash have ordered wondered Gayatri?

Yash had been forced to take rest since getting injured. He had become awfully quiet yet again after the incident and spoke cheerfully only with children. He refused to speak about it for the fear of others not taking him seriously enough.

Gayatri asked the delivery boy whom those huge packages were addressed to.

"Mr Yash Scindia" he replied.

"Please bring them in and take those to his room inside. You can take his signature there as he is resting after a minor accident" Gayarti informed the delivery boy.

When all the packages were kept inside, that person took Yash's signature and left.

"Beta Yash what have you ordered? They are so many in number and so huge in size" enquired Gayatri unable to contain her curiosity.

"Today is a very special day for me ma" Yash told her as he hopped on his good leg to go and tear away the covers of the packages.

Seeing her son struggling Gayatri went to offer some help.

"It's Ok ma I can manage. I want to do this myself" Yash said, clearly not wanting Gayatri's presence any longer. But Gayatri refused to go away and stood right there.

As Yash peeled the covers he unraveled framed photos of Aarti. It was her as a bride, her laughing with children and it was her with Yash; nearly half a dozon gigantic portraits which Yash lovingly admired as he moved to hang them on the walls of his bed room.

"What is the meaning of this Yash?"questioned Gayatri not liking what this act meant.

Yash did not respond and continued with some difficulty but did not stop.

"I had thought you were moving on. I had thought that you were ready to deal with life without Aarti and now this. Why Yash what happened again?" Gayatri asked feeling very scared thinking of Yash going back into depression.

"Don't you remember what day it is ma?" Yash finally asked his mother.

"No why?"

"It's our second anniversary ma. This was the day Aarti came into my life and completed me. How can I not celebrate this day ma?" Yash said finally turning from the photos and facing his mother but unable to hide his tears.

"Oh Yash. Don't do this to yourself Yash. How long can you live with her memory?" Gayatri asked not able to see his son in tears.

"But she is not a memory ma. I saw her the other day. No one is believing me, but I did" Yash told his mother firmly.

Just then Yash's father entered the room and was shocked to see the gallery of photos decorating his son's room.

"Enough Yash. Your mourning for you dead wife has gone on long enough. I cannot permit this meaningless waste of your life anymore" Suraj Pratap told his son strongly.

"She is not dead Bauji and I am not mourning. I have instructed my friend PI Ramesh to start a search for Aarti. She might be living in some nearby locality of the place I had last seen her. Had it not been maa taking promise from me to not leave the house till I was fit enough that has stopped me from doing so myself." Yash told his father.

"Yash...Yash...Yash...this madness has to stop. Think just think how could Aarti have possibly survived the bomb blast? Even if she did then don't you think we have not already searched enough for her in DELHI? How could she possibly turn up in Bhopal all of a sudden?" SP demanded answers for his questions.

"I don't know the answers to your questions Bauji... but I know what I saw. It was Aarti alive and breathing right in front of my eyes" Yash said with unwavering confidence.

"Or it could also be your delusion. Don't think I do not know about all that. I do. Pankaj told me... I think you need help Yash. Psychiartic help" SP said not at all convinced by Yash's claims.

"My son is not mad. Why do you want him to meet a mental doctor"Gayatri intervened.

"Your son is in depression Gayatri a very severe kind of it. He needs medical attention. And I do not consider taking psychiatric help a taboo and neither should you. The sooner we get him to see one the better it will be for him as well as for us" SP tried to make Gayatri understand.

"Bauji with all due respect, I am in no need of a psychiatrist. If you refuse to believe me well and good but do not think that I have lost my mind, I assure you I have not. Kindly give me some time to prove my point" Yash argued with SP.

"How much time Yash? It been eight months already. How much more time do you need for heavens sake? How much time will you need to come out of this denial of yours" SP questioned his son getting irritated at his stubbornness.

"You may call it denial Bauji but I call it belief. Belief that my wife is out there somewhere and I need to find her out" Yash said deliberately ignoring the concern he could so clearly see in his parents eyes.

That evening another courier came by. This time Yash was himself available to take it. It was a court's notice. And as Yash read the document Yash could not believe his eyes.

Mr Yash Scindia,

This is to inform you that plaintiff Mr. Satyendra Dubey has applied for the custody of his grandson Master. Ansh Dubey, who is currently residing with you.

As you are not in a stable mental condition, he claims his ward is unsafe with you. And for the betterment and safety of Master Ansh the plaintiff thinks it is the child's best interest that his custody granted to Mr. Satyendra Dubey.

To say Yash was shocked was an understatement. He just could not understand how bauji could take such a step. He had to talk to him and sort out whatever was troubling him. He knew bauji well enough to know that he was not a cruel man and that he loved his grandson more that anything in the world. Surely he would not uproot him just out of spite. So he immediately called his father in law's mobile which Satyendra picked up immediately.

"Hello Bauji. I think there seems to be some..."Yash started to say but was interrupted by Satya.

"I know why you have called I am just outside your house. I want to speak about this face to face"with that Satya cut the call.

"Why?" Yash could only utter that one word once Satya had come in and requested the entire family to be present.

"After Aarti passed away (Satya saw how Yash cringed when he said that, yet he continued) I saw how devastated you had become. I know it was a terrible blow for you. Believe me I know it was very hard for me too to accept that she is no more. But life goes no. One cannot hang on to people who are not there and ignore people who are..."

"That is all thing of the past Bauji. You very well know that now I am fully taking care of the children. I am sure you will hear no complains from them" Yash spoke in an attempt to make sure there were no misunderstandings on that account.

"They are kids Yash what would they know. Do they know that you almost committed suicide from the water tanker?"

"Uh" Gayatri drew an in-drawn breath on getting to know this.

"Do they know how you have lost interest in work, they can forgive and forget the 3 months of neglect from your side but I cannot. How can I forget that we almost lost Ansh when he ran away from the house"

"But Bauji you know how I have changed myself after that. You know how hard I have tried to be there for my children. They are my reason for existence now. How can you break my family. I will not be able to bear it. Hell Payal and Palak would not be able to bear it" Yash pleaded impassioned.

"Even I thought you had recovered enough Yash but unfortunately that does not seem to be the case. Now you have taken up hallucinating about Aarti to such an extent that you even forget your children in the car and chase after some woman who may look like Aarti to you. I gave you chance after chance after chance Yash. But you have completely destroyed my faith in you. You are an unfit parent for my grandson. I am afraid I have no other alternate left but to go to court to gain his full custody" Satya said firmly.

"I have rights to bauji. Do not forget I am his father" Yash got enraged totally losing his cool.

"Step-father" Satya corrected.

"I have never considered Ansh as anything other than my own. I will oppose your every move to separate him from me. You can only get to Ansh over my dead body" Yash said getting worked up further.

"Fine if you are willing for an ugly court battle so be it. Drag Ansh through all the torture of the same. Let me see how you enjoy the emotional trauma that Ansh suffers because of it" Satya said not giving in to Yash's requests.

"Bauji...I know you are upset with me. I know I have made too many mistakes to count. I will do anything...anything to convince you that I have recovered and that I am fully capable of taking care of Ansh. If you want you can move in with us. You can always be with your grandson that way" Yash tried to calm himself down and again appeal to Satya.

"On one hand you are assuring me that you have changed and are willing to do anything and on the other hand you are asking me to adjust and do anything that YOU say in order to be with my grandson. Thanks but no thanks. Meet you in court Yash" Satya got up ready to leave surveying the faces of all the family members who had struck dumb because of the shock.

"No Bauji...please...please give me one more chance. I swear I will not let you down. And I mean what I say I will do anything to prove that I am a good parent for Ansh. You name it Bauji I will do it. I promise" Yash begged going down on his knees and praying before Satya with folded hands.

"Words are very easy Yash" Satya said not allowing himself to get swayed seeing Yash's plight.

"But words are all I have Bauji please believe me" Yash cried.

"No there is one thing that you can do to convince me of your worthiness" Satya turned and addressed Yash.

"Name it bauji and it shall be done" Yash said wiping his tears and standing up.

"I give you precisely two months. Two months in which you have to get married to a woman whom your parents choose for you. If after this time is up and you are still unmarried I will have no option but to proceed with the custody hearing" Satya gave out the ultimatum and noticed how Yash staggered back as if he had been struck his expression showing utter revulsion to the whole deal.

"See I told you Yash words are easy. You cannot match your words with actions can you? I just knew it. Ok everyone. Sorry to bother you but I must leave now" Satya said and started to step out.

"Wait Bauji...I shall do what you ask for. I will get married to any girl that my parents chose within the time frame you have given just as you stipulated" Yash said quietly giving in with at most difficulty and feeling immensely drained while doing so.

"Satya I thank you from the bottom of my heart. You did us a great favor my friend at the cost of being hated by Yash" said SP as he finally caught up with Satya.

"That is the least I could do Suraj. That boy had to be forcibly made to move on. Had he truly been Yash of old he would have immediately known that I could never ever ask for Ansh back"

"I know. But he did buy it and I am just releaved that our plan succeeded" said SP as he thanked his friend once again.

"Yes my friend. Now off you go and find a girl for my Yash, make sure she is from a good family and is willing to give motherly love to our three grandchildren"

I guess this chapter goes on to explain a lot of questions about Yash. I do not have any idea about custody laws so forgive me of my ignorance and also ignore the typos and errors. Running short on time unfortunately.
