Part 2

After the guests and Panditji all go back to their respective homes, Anjali and Khushi sit on the sutofa of the living room, with their babies cradled in their arms, and chat with each other. Nani and Buaji are doing their own prayers at the temple. NK is talking to Akash and Payal.

Arnav, on the other hand, is the only one who is standing alone. He looks towards Khushi, and seems to have regret in his eyes for treating her the way he did, but is unable to bring himself to accept the full truth. The problem is, it's not entirely his fault either.

Shyam looks at Arnav and smirks, knowing full well what is going on in his mind. "Arnav doesn't even know what hit him. By the time I play my next move, Khushi will begin to hate Arnav and will come to me... She will be mine, forever!!"

Little does Shyam know that NK and Buaji are planning to expose him really soon.

Shyam's thoughts are interrupted by the cries of both the hungry babies. Khushi takes Arshiya, and Anjali takes Dhruv, and they both go into Nani's bedroom to feed their children.

Shyam gets an evil look in his eyes and follows them. He tries to peek at Khushi as she is breastfeeding her daughter, but NK who had kept a watchful eye on the dirty, disgusting man follows him and catches him before he can.

A disappointed Shyam goes, sort of sulking, back to his room, where he gets a call about a case he has to fight in Mumbai. He starts packing his bag as he has to leave for Mumbai the very next day, via an early morning flight.

NK eavesdrops on Shyam, and gets an in his head. Still furious with what Shyam did minutes earlier, NK who has become very protective of Khushi since he learnt of her pregnancy, goes straight to Buaji who is now alone in the kitchen.

Nani is with Anjali and Khushi, who decided to spend their time with her after putting their babies to sleep. Payal also goes with them.

NK narrates Shyam's latest move to Buaji, also gets extremely furious. When NK tells her that Shyam will be going to Mumbai the next day, both of them decide to reveal Shyam's truth much earlier than they had originally planned.

Since Arnav is busy talking to Akash about some important business deal in the living room, NK and Buaji go to the terrace area just outside Arnav's room and discuss what will be their next and final move, to expose Shyam's truth.

Unknown to them, Arnav comes in his room to get some files and his laptop. He is so quiet that NK and Buaji don't hear him. However, their voices are loud enough for Arnav to hear each and every word that they say.

Arnav is shocked when he hears Buaji and NK talking about Shyam in this way. He begins to have a doubt on Shyam and wonders whether indeed, Khushi was telling the truth - that she loved only Arnav, and Shyam is a big player.

Arnav creeps quietly to outside Shyam's room. Everyone else is busy downstairs, so Shyam is planning his next move in his room. He is video-chatting with someone on his laptop, but Arnav can't see who.

Fortunately, that does not matter. And Arnav doesn't even have to wait any longer to find out the truth. Shyam himself says it out loud. He confesses that he married Anjali for her money, played games with Khushi after he fell in love with her, then destroyed Khushi's relationship with Arnav when she married and fell in love with him.

As Arnav finally gets to hear the truth behind the evil faced Shyam, he is shattered. He goes into his room and contemplates over everything he did in the past few months, how he treated Khushi and how he didn't believe her.

By the time he gets over his own shock and decides to go to Khushi and apologize, she has left for Buaji's home. Without bringing attention to anyone, Arnav quietly goes into his room, and locking himself in, drinks away his guilt. His sorrow gets drowned in the alcohol he consumes.

(Note to readers: This part is from the prologue. Actually, it is the whole prologue itself. So if you want to skip it, you can. But this is where it comes in, so I thought of posting it here as well.)

A few hours later...

Arnav sits on the sofa in his living room, looking out the window. Outside, the sun has not set, yet it looks dark. Just like my own life, Arnav thinks. The thunder rumbles in the distance, then gets louder and more frequent, and is accompanied by lightning.

Then, the rain starts. Aside from the sound of the raindrops upon the roof, and against the windows when the winds start howling faster and harder, all is quiet. All is lonely. Only, less lonely than me, Arnav contemplates for the hundredth time that day.

Why did I have to do what I did? Why did I have to spoil my own life, and hers as well? Why did I not find out the full truth first before jumping to conclusions? Why did I not believe her when she claimed she was innocent? Why, why, why??

Arnav thinks back to his past actions, and regrets everything that he has done. He regrets having spoilt his own life. His married life. He regrets having hurt her. His wife, the love of his life, whom he lost forever due to his own stupid actions.

Arnav once again picks up the glass and drinks from it, the cool alcohol burning his throat as it goes down. He cries thinking about his past. He cries thinking about the time he met the woman he loves the most in this world. The woman whom he married, then started loving, then lost.

Please come back. Please forgive me. Please... I love you! Arnav drains the last drop of the alcohol from his glass, then looks at the glass, empty like his life, and slams it against the floor. The glass shatters and breaks into many tiny pieces. Just like how I destroyed my own life. Just like how I broke my wife's heart.

Arnav contemplates his past actions for the millionth time. Why? Why? Why? Why did I hurt you? Why did you leave? Why did I let you go? Where are you? Please come back, Khushi...

In the middle of the night, a drunk Arnav tries to call Khushi from the landline. Due to disturbance from the storm, Khushi can't hear Arnav properly.

Arnav feels a sort of desperate need to talk to Khushi. He picks up his wallet and car keys, and walks to his car, despite being stark drunk. Somehow, Arnav manages to make it to Buaji's house all safe.

Arnav stands outside Khushi's bedroom, listening to her sing a lullaby to Arshiya. He gets tears in his eyes thinking of all that he put Khushi through. Earning to see his daughter, Arnav waits for Khushi to put Arshiya to sleep then fall asleep herself before climbing through the window.

Arnav attempts to climb in very cautiously, so as not to wake up either Khushi or Arshiya. Unfortunately, he is so drunk that he knocks over the lamp near the window, as he climbs in.

Khushi wakes up with a start and looks towards the window. She sees a figure hidden in the darkness. At first she gets scared and thinks a stranger entered her room.

Khushi reaches for the bedside lamp and switches on the light. Her fear first changes to pleasant surprise, then anger as she realizes that its Arnav in the room.

"Why have you come here, Arnav?" Khushi questions him.

"To ask for your forgiveness. To take you and our daughter, Arshiya, back to Shantivan," Arnav replies, looking at the floor in guilt.

"Oh no...!!! Arshiya isn't your daughter. She's only my daughter. Do you get that? She's only mine. You lost your right on her the day you thought that she was Shyam's and threw me out of Shantivan." Khushi says angrily.

"I know, and that's why I have come. Please forgive me, Khushi. I wronged Arshiya. I wronged you. I wronged your whole family. I only found out Shyam's truth today. I overheard Buaji and NK talking about Shyam. Then I went to Di's room, and Shyam himself confessed to everything that he did. You're innocent, Khushi. He's guilty. It's Shyam's fault. He did everything."

"I know, Arnav. I know." Khushi cries silently, glad that Arnav finally knows the truth. She is unable to look at Arnav without wanting to cry even harder, so she turns her face away from him.

Arnav kneels down beside Khushi, who is sitting up in bed.

"Please forgive me, Khushi. Please...!!! I have wronged everyone, mostly you. I have realized my mistake. I want you back in my life, Khushi. I need you back in my life. I need both you and Arshiya back. I have realized that I can't live without you both. Please, Khushi... I love you!" Arnav pleads.

"I love you too, Arnav. I always have, and I always will. And I forgive you."

"Then come back to me. Come back to Shantivan. Please!"

"I can't. Not right now."

"But you just said you love me. And that you forgive me,"

"Yes, I do. But Arnav, I'm afraid that I don't trust you anymore. I can't believe in what you're saying. How do I know that you won't hurt me or Arshiya again, like you have hurt us in the past?"

"Because, I won't..."

"That's not an answer, Arnav."

"But, Khushi..." Arnav tries pleading again.

"I'm sorry Arnav, but your pleading won't work. If you want me and Arshiya back in Shantivan, then you will have to make us believe in you again. You will have to regain my trust. Until then, I can't even bear the thought of getting back together with you. I'm too afraid, Arnav. I'm afraid that you will break my heart all over again. I'm afraid that you will disown Arshiya. I'm afraid that Arshiya and I will be left alone all over again." Khushi says, showing him her hand and telling him that she's in no mood to discuss further.

Arnav wants to say something further, but he is interrupted by Arshiya's cries. Khushi realizes that her daughter is hungry and wants to feed her.

"Arnav, Arshiya is hungry. Please get out of my room. Go back to Shantivan." Khushi orders.

A sad and sulky Arnav turns to the window and gets ready to climb back out. He is about to put one leg over the window still when Khushi calls him. He gets happy for a moment, thinking Khushi changed her mind. But, his happiness once again changes to disappointment when he hears what Khushi has to say next.

"Arnav, next time don't ever get drunk. Learn to control your alcohol intake. Already being drunk once has caused you to do something that you didn't want. Something you regretted." Khushi says.

Arnav finally steps out through the window. As he starts walking away, he hears Khushi telling him, "And take a taxi or auto-rickshaw Arnav. Driving after drinking is not a safe thing. You were fortunate to have gotten here safely from Shantivan but I know you're not in the condition to drive back safely yourself."

Arnav smiles to himself, knowing that Khushi still cares about him. He makes sure his car is locked, and then walks towards the main road to wait for a taxi or auto-rickshaw.

Arnav returns to Shantivan in the wee hours in the morning, about 3 hours after leaving Khushi's home. He had tried waiting for a taxi, but even after waiting for nearly an hour and not getting an empty one, he decides to walk the way back.

He gets a little lost, before stumbling upon a kind, old taxi driver who takes him to Shantivan and even refuses to take money from him, saying that he was just helping another human being, albeit a stranger.

"Here is a stranger helping another stranger, while some others just backstab and even hurt their own." Arnav says to himself, thinking about the taxi driver, Shyam, and he himself respectively.

Arnav enters his home and goes to his room, sulking. Shyam, who has come to the kitchen to get water to drink, sees this and smirks. He knows that Arnav probably went to see Khushi. However, he also thinks that Khushi outrightly rejected him and refused to see him again.

Unfortunately for Shyam, his time has passed. Now, it's Khushi's turn to get all that she deserves, more than she deserves. And, it's also time for Shyam to learn a lesson.

In the morning, after breakfast, Shyam leaves for an important business trip. He has a colleague pick him up, and together they go to the airport.

As soon as Shyam leaves the Shantivan, NK calls up Buaji. "The coast is clear!" NK says, in code language.

NK and Buaji continue to talk in their code language, confirming their plan to expose Shyam. After putting the phone down, on the end of each line, both say "You're going down Shyam! Way down! Get ready for your destruction!"
