EPISODE 81

Parents'Anniversary PART 1

There is a light in every darkness, you just have to look forward by trusting God and he prevails no matter what.Dukh aur Sukh[sadness and happiness] walk side by side and you can't separate them.Arnav and Khushi both have seen the dark sides of their lives but both of them deal with them in different ways.Khushi is the sunshine for him as she is very independent and knows how to stand in front of any pain by her strong belief system along with action as "God helps those who help themselves"Arnav is the most strong and independent but at the same time the most weak and vulnerable because of his weak belief system in a lot of things but will emerge the strongest of all when Khushi will place these beliefs in his life.😊

Khushi in Mandir with her parents as she can't forget bringing her parents here where her Arnavji held her in his arms and broke her fast . Unintentionally she wants her parents to be with her in this joy.

In Rm ,Anjali is upset as usually as she can't reach her charlatan hubby.The door bell rings and Khushi's bright face on the door appears as she is light in this darkness and today on their parents anniversary, their parents ,the stars are helping them to have her. While passing the hall, Khushi finds a hanky on the floor with "S" on it. Anjali tells it her's his hubby's and his name is Shyam. Khushi gets amiable by telling her that their PG's name is Shyam too.Khushi ,Payal is right "you are pagal if you are thinking Shyamji is a good fella'.😡 Didn't like the way she gives respect Slither while calling his name😡

Significantly Khushi will return Shyam to Anjali the moment she will find the truth about him.Love this they were holding the hanky together and then Anjali was holding it while thinking about it.

Anjali is mad at him first time and ignores his inquiry about Khushi and wants him here on this propitious day but filthy Slither is busy playing with his slinky games.

Babuji is following Shyam's Slithery trails "yeh Rani Sahiba Kuan hain beta"[who is this Rani Sahiba] Why do I have a feeling as he heard his whole convo because he changes his face expressions the moment Shyam does nice move Babuji.Arggg...Buaji's ishaqwa for this slimewa is making me sick ...😡😡

Shyam and his shabby games of pleasing ladies are not going unnoticed but Shyam's observance of his behavior is keenly booked by his sly brain too.😡😡😡

The grand arrangement of the pooja makes Khushi hype. She astonishes seeing Arnav coming for the pooja as he does not need any trick this time to be in the pooja. Her happiness goes double to see him as DM can do anything,"eik Nastik bhi pooja mein baith rahe hain" [even Arnav,"The great and an atheist can sit for the pooja!"] Arnav throws daggers at her. But her heart sinks with pain when Anjali come with a portrait of their parents and gives it to Arnav for garlanding Khushi come to know that it was their parent's death anniversary. She feels awful and exceedingly sad for Arnav. Arnav's submergence watching their parent's picture does not go unnoticed by Khushi but no one sees her restlessness while watching him in pain and at the top he does not accept her apology,"humain pata nahin tha keh..[I didn't know that ...The pain and agony in her voice is way too deep..

In Rm, Khushi goes to her Arnavji's room to apologize.She goes in after knocking and he gives a very passive look as he wants to hate her after her thinking about him that low.He totally ignores her apology and goes back to his work.Khushi says dotingly,"apki ankhein bilkul apki amma ki tarah hain"[your eyes are just like your mom's]He gulps down the pain and tells her ,"Just leave from here plz"

Khushi turns to leave but then stops to give him her support as she saw him today in another avatar which is giving her strength to change her views no matter what. [she always jump for others to give them relief no matter what "adat se majboor"]She wants to remove his distress as she can't see him in pain the way he can't see hers regardless he gives her and gets it in return.

Khushi,"hum samjh sakte hain iss waqt aapko kaisa lag raha hai"[I can understand how are you feeling right now]

ASR is back with his BG score louder than ever.He threw his file and attacks her with harsh words.She steps back frantically,"kya samajh sakti ho tum'bolo kya samajh sakti ho "[What do you understand tell me]

Why am I getting vibes he wanted her to ask him, to console him as he pours his heart today on her in this matter which he didn't with his Di after all we always show anger to those who we love the most.

[do you know how does it feel when you come home after criminating your mom ,do you know how does it feel when you come back to the same house where you won't be able to see them again'do you know how dose it feel when everyone says they know what are we going through but they don't]

Khushi's pain rolls down with tears but he can't feel it today as his pain is way above all right now.He has no clue he is giving her pain which is adding fuel to fire today for her and is unbearable for her more than him.

Khushi comes out with heavy heart and he shuts the door relentlessly at her.She is outside with brimming tears as she has no clue of her fault and he is inside in his room flustered as he did something wrong.

Arnav is in his baffled and vulnerable state because of his mom's sudden death and the horror of that night as he mentions his mother's name first to Khushi then parents.

Pause here:Loop is closing here as the other day she was standing outside by knowing its her fault by throwing tea and he closed the door at her in his flustered condition by accepting his fault for all of his wrong doings and today he is perplexed at the same way on the other side of the door but in both cases they both are in the same frame.

When he will understand her pain he will remember her words always for not speeding car, for not keeping her in the dark etc

Will You Marry Me?

With clasped hands and high hopes Lavanya watches as ASR, ah,um Arnavji, grabs her dupatta and throws it above her head. Our loving, beautiful dupatta always has a mind of her own and that mind coexists with Devi Maiyya and lands right on top of Kushi's head. The conch sounds and there she is, in all her innocence, doe eyed, with the veil draped over her head; a drape thrown by none other than Arnav Singh Raizada. Her thoughts of words she just shared with Lavanya; words her mother told her about when a man holding a veil throws it and when it lands on your head you two will surely unite in marriage, no one will be able to stop it. (I should have realized this when I was anxious later on when I was unsure, for that split second, whether he would show up at their remarriage).

As he walks out of the room he sees Kushi, veil on her head, and he stops, turns, I see his eyes just sink to his heart ( I can't explain what I mean), Rabba Ve. The love I know he has for her I see all over his face especially in his eyes. I know he doesn't realize it yet but that look, OMG my heart Dhak, Dhak!!!! She just stares at him in disbelief. What does this mean? He walks away, looks back and she looks up at him. sigh'..

Lavanya comes out of the room grabs the dupatta and says they have a big problem. Little do you know how big of a problem La! At the dining table the girls are dicussing the demise of Lavanya; her time is running out. Mami says Kushi failed how is Akash going to ever marry. Nani insists Chote will marry first and tells her son that Manorama has taken a vow of silence for a few days. Nani made a funny!!! Anyway Nani wants to know where Kushi is and Arnav pays attention.

Kushi and Lavanya are in her bedroom.Kushi offers the anxious La chane. Lavanya is upset Kushi's plan didn't work. Kushi offers again La partakes. Kushi asks want to prepare jalebi? Lavanya answers no she just wants to marry ASR. What should she do she asks Kushi. It's a tough thing talking marriage with Arnav Singh Raizada, Kushi says. She thinks and comes up with an IDEA!!! She tells Lavanya if she does that he can not refuse her.Lavanya asks her about her boyfriend and Kushi says she never had one. WHAT? Lavanya exclaims. Kushi says well I do have one. She proceeds to tell her about Salman Khan. She asks La if she feels a little better and then she says that she will definitely feel better after they dance. They go into this song and dance and jumping on the bed and a pillow fight with feathers flying all around and in walks Mr. Grumpy himself, ASR.

He watches the girls for a moment until Kushi notices he is here she jumps off the bed gets back on and catches Lavanya's attention who then jumps off the bed to go to ASR. He says what going on this morning now this. He doesn't want her turning into that middle class girl. Jia Prakash tells Kushi she has a phone call and Buaji tells her she must come home now. She tells Lavanya she must go home now she doesn't know why and she leaves.

Everyone is called to the living room by Lavanya. ASR comes why he was called, he asks.

Kushi runs up to her door and rings the bell frantically calling out for Buaji to open the door. Shyam opens the door. What happened Shyam and she runs in and there are her parents! She hugs them and then shoots a million questions. Are you okay? Why didn't you tell me you were coming I would have been here to greet you and on and on Kushi style. Buaji tells her bas, be quiet. Shyam brought them here and got them tickets and greeted them at the station. His excuse for bringing them was that Kushi's dad was not well so why not treat him here in Delhi.

Of course! I should have known.

ASR asks Lavanya why she has called him there. She says she wants to ask him something. She explains how Nani is angry with her about one thing. One thing, Nani asks. Hah, one thing mainly that they do not talk about marriage. So to make a long story short she asks him to marry her even if the words were written on her hand by Kushi as a cheat sheet. She toold him Kushi explained what marriage means and she wants that. Nani says we should appreciate Kushi for changing a girl like Lavanya. He is infuriated you can see it in his eyes. He releases her hand and walks away. I guess you have your answer La.

Back at the GH Buaji is praising Shyam for the Gupta's eyes to see what a good catch he is for Kushi. Kushi receives a phone call from Lavanya telling her what happened with ASR and she says atleast he didn't say no! We still have another plan. She explains it to La. The phone rings again and when she picks it up she hears three words in an angry voice, "Kushi Kumari Gupta."

In Rm ,Anjali is upset as usually as she can't reach her charlatan hubby.The door bell rings and Khushi's bright face on the door appears as she is light in this darkness and today on their parents anniversary, their parents ,the stars are helping them to have her. While passing the hall, Khushi finds a hanky on the floor with "S" on it. Anjali tells it her's his hubby's and his name is Shyam. Khushi gets amiable by telling her that their PG's name is Shyam too.Khushi ,Payal is right "you are pagal if you are thinking Shyamji is a good fella'.😡 Didn't like the way she gives respect Slither while calling his name😡

Significantly Khushi will return Shyam to Anjali the moment she will find the truth about him.Love this they were holding the hanky together and then Anjali was holding it while thinking about it.

Anjali is mad at him first time and ignores his inquiry about Khushi and wants him here on this propitious day but filthy Slither is busy playing with his slinky games.

The grand arrangement of the pooja makes Khushi hype. She astonishes seeing Arnav coming for the pooja as he does not need any trick this time to be in the pooja. Her happiness goes double to see him as DM can do anything,"eik Nastik bhi pooja mein baith rahe hain" [even Arnav,"The great and an atheist can sit for the pooja!"] Arnav throws daggers at her. But her heart sinks with pain when Anjali come with a portrait of their parents and gives it to Arnav for garlanding Khushi come to know that it was their parent's death anniversary. She feels awful and exceedingly sad for Arnav. Arnav's submergence watching their parent's picture does not go unnoticed by Khushi but no one sees her restlessness while watching him in pain and at the top he does not accept her apology,"humain pata nahin tha keh..[I didn't know that ...The pain and agony in her voice is way too deep..

In Rm, Khushi goes to her Arnavji's room to apologize.She goes in after knocking and he gives a very passive look as he wants to hate her after her thinking about him that low.He totally ignores her apology and goes back to his work.Khushi says dotingly,"apki ankhein bilkul apki amma ki tarah hain"[your eyes are just like your mom's]He gulps down the pain and tells her ,"Just leave from here plz"

Khushi turns to leave but then stops to give him her support as she saw him today in another avatar which is giving her strength to change her views no matter what. [she always jump for others to give them relief no matter what "adat se majboor"]She wants to remove his distress as she can't see him in pain the way he can't see hers regardless he gives her and gets it in return.

Khushi's pain rolls down with tears but he can't feel it today as his pain is way above all right now.He has no clue he is giving her pain which is adding fuel to fire today for her and is unbearable for her more than him.

Khushi comes out with heavy heart and he shuts the door relentlessly at her.She is outside with brimming tears as she has no clue of her fault and he is inside in his room flustered as he did something wrong.

Arnav is in his baffled and vulnerable state because of his mom's sudden death and the horror of that night as he mentions his mother's name first to Khushi then parents.

Pause here:Loop is closing here as the other day she was standing outside by knowing its her fault by throwing tea and he closed the door at her in his flustered condition by accepting his fault for all of his wrong doings and today he is perplexed at the same way on the other side of the door but in both cases they both are in the same frame.

When he will understand her pain he will remember her words always for not speeding car, for not keeping her in the dark etc

Parents'Anniversary PART 2

Happiness and sadness are the two sides of the same coin. Every person experiences both sides so as to maintain the natural equilibrium. Sadness is a feeling which strikes the heart of humans when there is an undesired result or when he/she lost something very precious.This is exactly Arnav [king]and [queen]Khushi's life story.They both have lost their parents and this side of the coin is always there for them no matter what ,the only thing matters how to deal with it to move on with their lives.

Story of [rooks]Anjali and Shyam along with the story of [pawns] Gupta and Raizada's family [with Bishops(Nani and Arnav's mom) involvement ] is filled with these two sides of the coin.

King and Queen's sad moments[continue from part 1]

Khushi rushes through the door to be free from the immense pain given by Arnav by closing the door at her without her fault.Her steps are faster than her dropping tears when Naniji calls her to put halt on both.She in her standstill does not know what to do but with her golden heart how can she see the elderly Naniji struggling with all and this.Naiji asks her to fill up Ganga Jal for Sharat and she knows the meaning of it as Arnav made it very clear to her.

Symbolism and connection:This is related with the flour which Khushi just spread all over him in the kitchen but also spread on her feet too.In some casts in India they wash Bride's feet with milk and flour.Khushi is doing all the rituals one by one.Its pure FATE and today she is taking blessings indirectly from His parents as she is here on their death anniversary and She is the elder Bahu Arnav's wife and she is preparing it as this is her right.FATE is playing big role here.

Arnav stops her furiously "Sharadh ki tyari sirf ghar wale karte hain...Aaj ka din mere liyeh bohot important aur aaj keh din mujhe tumhari shakal dekhna pade mujhe bilkul pasand nahin hai[Only family members do the prep of Sharadh,Today's day is very important for me and I don't want to see your face today]

Convulsion of Khush's pain reaches its hikes and she rushes towards the doorway with eyes filled with tears and Arnav stood there ruthlessly as he wants to hate her for thinking of him that low.

Anjali stops Khushi again and asks her lovingly and with concern, the reason of leaving as someone said something to her but she never did nor will do mentioning Arnav's name.Anjali understands she can't take this pain as she is an orphan too and all of this is increasing her distress.She tries to pacify Khushi while Arnav rages over this but stupefies at Anjali's words"aapko apne Amma aur Bauji ki yaad aa rahi hai"[you are missing your parents] He couldn't move or blink while watching two important people in his life crying and sharing their common pain .

Reverberation of his words make him realize his mistake and he wants to rectify it but she is gone .He tries to find her and gets a glimpse of her face filled with pain which brings agony in him but she leaves him with this affliction and gripping hurt because he knows the real meaning of this pain he gave her and this time he has to rectify it.

Symbolism and Connection:Arnav's reflection while he was in pain but reflection is approximately same as him ,

Acc to Egyptians reflections are like reflecting on one's thoughts and actions in an eternal process of self-evaluation and this time Arnav is in this process as reflection tells you what is currently true.He is self evaluating himself to rectify his mistake.

Also there are two vases while he is coming down and # 2 represents a famine # as it relates to closeness, harmony, and sensitivity.Sensual awareness among couple.That's what Arnav and Khushi are being going through.

Khushi's pain has no end today when she finds out her Babuji's condition.She can't see her Babuji like that as she has lost her parents but her immense love shows the power of love this family has given her.

Pause here[Connected Dots]:Khushi was only eight when Garima brought her when she got married with Shashiji as Buaji says in epi 2 and since then Shahiji gave her love more than anyone even more than Garima.She is so close to him and very much vulnerable to tell him all which she shares with DM the same way Arnav is vulnerable to his Di for now but Khushi will be more than her as I explained in epi 80.He was hugging her while crying without opening up but he opens his heart filled with pains to Khushi regardless in anger in epi 81 and will tell her about his Mom's suicide too later and that day he will be free from this burden on his chest.At the same time Khushi is the only one he takes to his sacred Garden where his mother is in between roses ,the rose which he gives her on her Bday even if TODAY he does not want her to attend their Barsi[death anniversary] . Not only that he will believe in stars [both will see stars together and telepathy moment]as parents and will create for her the Galaxy where his mother and her mother will be together.[Saath Saath]

Khushi's affliction has no limit today as someone scratches her wounds again and he is no other than her Arnavji.Sitting right besides her Babuji a girl of eight years old again wants her Babuji to embrace her the same way he did ten years ago.She can't leave him or see him in this pain as she already lost her parents and she can't go through the same agony again.

Pause here:"hum apne Amma aur Bauji ko eik bar kho chuke hain ..hum se Dubara yeh sab nahin hoga.."[I lost my parents once and I can't bear that pain again]Khushi says these to Arnav while hugging him and then again while sitting besides him.

[Rooks]Anjali and Shyam's sad moments

Anjali wants her husband right besides her as this is her important day.She calls her artful and crafty hubby more than enough time but each time sly has

illusory and deceptive answer to deviate her questions as he can't go there while Khushi is there this is a sad moment for him as he can't keep up with this."Dhobi ka kuta na ghar ka na ghat ka"...[sly]

Anjali,'"you did'nt come on Teej ,wasn't present at time of wedding anniversary but I didn't say anything.But today if you are not here then..."Love her the way she disconnected him.

SYMBOLISM &CONNECTION: Water,[Pani...Jal] Shyam's entrance with dropping water and putting Ghee in the fire.

Water is associated with purity but water is an element usually associated with girls and women also. It can also be used to show love or concern. Characters and things that are shown to have a 'watery' quality to them usually have a blue-colored theme to them. Blue color of water as Shyam's bracelet .He is in love or more of having lust of a girl.

Ghee[boiled butter and strained] symbolizes sacrification along with the use in marriage ceremony and funeral to purify dead. Arnav is going to sacrifice his Love for his Di .

Water spills,ghee goes to fire and Shyam enters"Dhan aur Mun Chunchul hai, miritue sache hai"[ Money and heart are naught but death is is a truth] Hatts off to creators how beautiful they connected these things together.Water and his character is so cleverly connected here.

Anjali's tears for her parents or for her agonizing sly hubby who never stands right besides him makes me vexatious for her.His astute , artful , and insidious moves are going to hurt almost anyone especially Anjali's parents especially her mother whose spirit is not only in pain for her son but also for her daughter too.

PLOT#3

Gupta [Pawns]Family's sad moments

Shyam is playing his slimy games with house ladies while Babuji is playing his sagacious game given by the grace of DM.He feels pain in his arm and chest and fells down unconsciously.God sometimes plays game with our heart and minds in such a way that you have to leave it him because of lack of answers .Divine power is making Shyam a reason of survival here.He brings the doctor and tries to give courage to the family too even in his Slithery way.Payal he can't call RM to tell Khushi come home "iski pol na khul jayegi"[he will be exposed] as RaniSahiba is calling over and over.

Buaji praises Shyam way too much and same as Amma as Shyam is the one who saved his life.Arggg ..He is winning heart over here to get Khushi.

Pause here:Doctor tells Shyam about the medication and warns him about the heart attack. He is a healer now and killer later because he is not going to tell family about meds and he will use his heart trouble to kill him.

Hate his moves today as he is totally disgusting.😡😡😡

Babuji even in this condition did not forget to recall the duty as a father.He picked up his phone which he made Payal leaving there to get another pillow for him.Meanwhile Slither notices he left his phone in the bedroom and he comes in and gets suspicious at Babuji as in this condition and moving on his bed But before he could do anything Khushi comes in and embraces with her father .Babuji calms her down.Sly takes his phone and goes out but I hated him lusting over Khushi while she was embraces her father...Yuck! Dirty man with dirty thinking.Cheap creep!!😡😡😡

He calls RaniSahiba as "Maidan Saaf hai"[everything is clear] and he can go to his money but mone does not want to talk to him...

PLOT # 4

Raizadas[Pawns] with Bishops

Naniji [Bishop#1 ] sitting in distress with her grandson Akash.Her pain has no limit so is her courage and strength.She lost her child Arnav's mother but got courage to raise her two kids with Love and affection.Her tears does not show weakness but shows the loss she feels for her kids as a mother because she has seen ups and downs while raising them.Akash is his right hand as he was sitting on her right side.He is her son's child but she always keeps Arnav and Anjali up front no matter what.Her lives with her through her eyes Arnav and Anjali who are close to Nani's heart.Mamiji and Mamaji love these kids like on one can and Mamiji's concerns for Dmadji makes absolutely sense ,he must be present right besides Anajli at this fragile moment.Arnav's hand on his sister as"Dair se sahi par zaroor ayenge"[it will be late but he will be here.]

Arnav's Mom[Bishop #2} is always with him .She knows his pain and always show him the way.Because of her attachment he was always close to her heart and Arnav's eyes are always searching for her even these are close under that scream"Maa".The pain he closes in his fist grabs his Mom's spirit and gives him sign I am here with you don't worry.Her "Rooh" Atma [spirit] is in tremulous seeing her son in agony as her painful memories are still fresh as the day one in his head.

Pause here:Acc to some beliefs during praying for dead ,pure and good spirits [Rooh][Atmas]come and visit you and they are not happy if they see you crying so its better to pray to God May God bless them with his blessings in their after life rather than cry and make it difficult for them.

episode 81

fluttering wings. feathers and their interaction with the air and sky creating another layer of sound. their motion stirring sensation. on the very first day we met our protagonist they were there. the pigeons. startling him out of his reverie. as his memories echoed and careened through him, they came out of nowhere in a sudden burst and flew around free, they had never known a cage. but some people had. and the wings called them to rebel perhaps, regain their freedom.

today again. one of the most difficult days of his life and there they were. when khushi walked into the temple with her parents, i couldn't help but remember the pigeons from the first episode, and later in khushi's balcony and dm's temple in lucknow. they seemed to bestow a stroke of something, like the creators wanted to add more meaning to the telling today. and not all of it could be neatly scripted into dialogues, camera movements, music, even acting cues. something unchained, unrehearsed, spontaneous was needed.


expert stacking of stories one on another. khushi is here, praying for her father. asr is here to take the priest to the death anniversary prayers of his parents. his memories are here, how can they not be, that's where he keeps his maa safe, somewhere in that scream. and a little girl is here, worrying for her papa's health, with a broken piggy bank that refuses to yield enough to buy a pigeon.

the pigeon that will carry her wishes far and high and make it come true. all here with there parents in and around them. children, somewhere all three. and perhaps it is when you are a child and see with a child's eyes you get to see the truth.

perception is reality. famous rolling stones magazines ad line. not all ads lie. this one is 16 annas true. with her mind happy and engaged with her parents and prayer, not prejudice, she interprets what she sees perfectly. and is flabbergasted by a realisation. people are not always what they seem to be.

"jiji... par woh waisa hai hi nahin... usska asli roop toh kuch aur hi hai." jiji, he isn't like that at all, in reality he is absolutely different. people should be the way they look, but why aren't they? "insaan achcha ya bura ye kaise samjha jaaye?" how will one understand whether a person is good or bad?

he stops in his tracks. takes off glasses. a little girl sits on a bench crying. "panditji aap chaliye, mein aata hoon." go ahead, panditji, i'm coming. his heart is open today, he is all and only his mother's son at this moment. and he can't walk away leaving a little child crying alone. maybe he had been that child once.

he is a bit awkward, not so comfortable around kids. a very not prepared, "ky... kya hua?" almost brusque. wh... what's the matter?

he looks around, then tentatively, "tumhare mummy papa kahan hain?" where are your parents?

on a sob, a forlorn little voice says, "papa hospital mein hai... mummy ro rahi hai." papa is in hospital, mummy is crying.

a child distressed and worried for both her parents. her tears are streaming. he grabs his handkerchief, passes it to her. she blows her nose straight into it. and the grossed out asr face from 75 here again. khushi blowing her nose vigorously into her dupatta, bet he recalls that scene. shades of khushi in the child, and shades of asr in her cry for her parents, her yearning to make it all ok for them. she returns the hanky. trepidation. nausea. but. he is a brave man. he takes it gingerly. in the midst of sadness and turmoil, moments of elevating lightness, an ipk trademark as it were.


the jo chaho mil jata kabootar tale comes forth. kabootar? pigeons fulfill wishes? "par mere paas toh sirf das rupaye hai." but i have only ten rupees, she says, the baby talk not yet completely erased from the voice. still trusting, still innocent, still not adult and guarded.

a memory of a time of not having floats in with the music. of terrible days, sadness, loss, no amount of kabootar flying could take away that spectre, but in it is an identifying with a child's sense of helplessness, and all the intensity of an innocent's love. next to her, her piggy bank, broken; her treasure, all of it is there for her father's well being. but the money is just not enough. again khushi comes to mind and her changing world, where the gullak is no longer enough to buy all she wants, the growing pains of life. when all you have is not enough, how terrible is that feeling then?

khushi is also praying for her dad. she would break every piggy bank for him and more. she remembers something and tells her parents she'll be back in no time. the pigeons call her, or maybe they bring her a message from someone.

today, he pays for the little girl's father's health, no, for her belief that this will make her dad ok. and to take away those tears, if he can, that would be priceless. it's his parents' barsi, how can he bear to see anyone suffering about their parents today of all days. alas, khushi will not get her pigeon. but she will get to see something she'll treasure long. even in her darkest hour it will surely bring her hope. and when her babuji is in hospital, this man will come and pay, not for pigeons, but for all that is needed to make her babuji fine. oh the coming together of time and strands of story of this episode is rare. there's reference and echo everywhere.

just now a man came and got all the birds, says the pigeon seller.
"kya? itni saari mannate sirf ek aadmi ke liye? bada laalchi insaan hoga jo sab kuch sirf apne liye hi mangta hai." what? khushi is upset, so many wishes for just one man, must be a really greedy guy, who asks for everything for himself. kkg's ability to jump to conclusions is something else, and usually has me rofling. really painful when tears are on standby.

and if there's one flaw this man doesn't have, it is this: he actually never asks anything for himself. almost never. works hard, takes care of the whole family financially, and emotionally too, completely depended on by all, never grudges this. a bit grouchy, not too sweet, not at all chatty, but lalchi? uh huh. doesn't even expect anyone to stay up and heat his food when he comes home late at night and has dinner.

she is delighted to see the kid jumping in glee, chalo at least this little one got pigeons for her mannat, wonder what she asked for.

"uncle. uncle." and he turns... it's him.


she's shocked.

she blinks. maybe just a teeny bit of the blink is for the gorgeousness that is being revealed.

"yeh sab mere papa ke liye hai?" all this is for my father?

"haanh, beta." yes, little one. how tender now, maybe in the release of the birds a few moments of freedom within him. a wish of his being carried unknown to him perhaps by one of those skyward birds?

khushi watches, jaw dropping, and a sense of wonder comes calling. this is asr. arnav singh raizada aka rakshas, laad governor...

"aur aapke mummy papa ke liye?" and for your parents? this time, really the music was not required. his eyes were enough to tell the entire story. he struggles with his tears, and swallows hard. and then the sweetest shake of his head. not there.


the touch of a child on his tears. how she appeared from nowhere to again disappear from his life. was she sent here by his mother's wish, her blessing, to bring solace to her son on a day she knows he suffers? do those who leave us still look out for us?


"aap ba'ut acchhe 'ain," you are very nice, says the little one, like eliza dolittle dropping "h"s everywhere.

so this is rakshas.

"ab mere papa teek o jaayenge na?" nod, yes. a beckon by "come here" chubby finger, and a kiss on the cheek... he's a tad shocked. he smiles and reaches out, a little unsure, to touch her head. in blessing? in thanks?


reminded me of that day in the hospital with khushi. as she cried, he could not stop himself, he reached out and touch her head, to console, to assure, to say, i am here i'll take care of you. almost like a parent... an instinct from that part of us called rachem or compassion/mercy which comes from the word for womb. he was as gentle as a mother almost right now, with this little kid who had blown snot into his pristine white kerchief.

softly, "ab aap ghar jao," now go home and don't sit here and cry, and don't leave your home alone.

and as khushi watches him nonplussed, feelings whirling in her, camera pulls focus, i see him looking up at the sky, for an instant a plea in his eyes, a call. does he too search for his mother up there? this was for me the few seconds that made the episode. a whole story in it, and a coming closer of two people meant for each other. he doesn't know she's there, yet somewhere he does, look how the birds flutter their wings, their sounds carry messages, everywhere.


then the shades are on. a last long look at the sky and he leaves.
