KHURANA MANSION - NEW DELHI

I, Savitri Devi Khurana stand here in the terrace of my room looking out to the calm and silent Khurana Mansion. My husband Ranjit Singh Khurana is fast asleep but sleep is far off from my eyes. Today had been an eventful day in our otherwise stagnant life, Maan had called up in the morning and informed me about his decision of getting married the very next day. To say I was shocked would be an understatement.

Though it was no less than a shock for my weak heart but still Our Dream to see our eldest grandson settled in his life was finally materializing. I did feel bad as he just called to inform me, didn't even feel the need for our approval for the girl he chose, its not that I am not happy but still felt a pang in my heart. I was also worried why was he marrying in such haste.

But I trust him completely and also know that when he decides something nobody can change it. If he has decided to marry there must be a strong reason to it but the motherly concern overpowered me. I don't want him to get hurt yet again. He has endured a lot of pain since his childhood he had drifted apart from us. He had completely shut himself. Only faint traces of emotions would be visible in his gestures and concern for Me, Annie and Vicky. Ranjit, Rajiv and Aparna had to bear the brunt of his anger till date.

He looks for reasons to stay away from home. But there was a pleasant change in him during the time Annie was in college, he would smile sometimes even blush for second or so if U could make out. I was happy with this change but, it was short lived. He had been so excited to go to their college reunion party which was very unlike him. He was never so social it was only with Yash and Arjun he was himself. He did have other friends but they were never close.

He went to the party all happy but when he returned he had been livid,angry at self when I enquired with Annie she brushed it off saying some minor tiff between the guys. I knew she was hiding something but I let it be. Maan had practically worked out in the gym the entire night and early morning he had come to me seeking permission to go to London regarding some project.

He had always done that whenever he was hurt or angry he would just want to be left alone. He would move away from people and shut himself to any emotion. I let him go only to regret because the next time I had met him after few months he had transformed himself in a machine. He returned to Delhi because he had forgotten Annie's birthday and she was so hurt and left for Dehradun immediately. Maan along with Yash and Arjun had followed to make it up to her.

I thought may be his guilt of hurting Annie may bring him back to us. But again his destiny had other plans. He had returned after a couple of days and HOW!!!!

Yash and Arjun supporting a totally drunk, out of senses, fumbling and failed Maan. That day I lost all hopes. I had lost my Maan. I got to know later that he loved some girl and he lost her as she was married off to someone.

My Maan was left heart broken yet again!!!!!

After that day he had steeled himself he made himself busy in a project near Dehradun. I was informed that he had struggled day and night to get permission to build a cottage in forest area. Though he doesn't know but Ranjit's contacts in the ministry had enabled him to fulfill his this endeavour.

I walked up to our bed where Ranjit laid. It has been years he is paralysed and bedridden with no improvement. Somewhere I know he, himself didn't want to recover. But today with Maan's one call when a sudden and unknown fear gripped my heart I saw a new lease of life run through Ranjit, when Maan disclosed that he is marrying Geet, Geet Handa.

I knew he wasn't seeking my permission. His words just indicated he is informing me that he is going to marry her with or without my permission. I tried to make failed attempt to stop him from making a biggest blunder only to be stopped by Ranjit. As the phone was on speaker he had heared everything. He had moved his hand for the first time ever in so many years and also slightly nodded his head in a no, thereby giving his approval to the wedding. I could see a gleam of happiness in his otherwise dull and lifeless eyes.

I was too shocked and lost two contradicting emotions surged through me. Happiness to see my husband and grandson returning back to llife and fear of the oblivion as Handa's made their entry again in our life.

Maan narrated me all about his and Geet's past my heart went out for my children, even Ranjit was in tears. I promised Maan to be there for his wedding and also spoke to Geet later in the evening and assured her she was welcome in the Khurana family. I sent 'shagun ki mehendi' too with the driver. As I got busy with other preparations.

Aparna too joined in she was so happy for Maan but I know her heart pained as she could not be a part of this celebration. Its every mothers dream to see her son getting married. But knowing Maan will not like their presence at his wedding she has no choice. She had to give up on her son for her husband. She didn't know her choosing to be a wife would result her failing as a mother.I wonder if all this will ever fall in place.

And this mansion will be home again!!!!

I caressed sleeping Ranjit's forehead, today the mere news of Geet entering Maan's life and Khurana household had changed a lot.Though there was silence all around, I just hope it is the silence indicating arrival of peace and prosperity in our household and not a warning of a storm but that only time will tell.

I silently prayed t GOD, "BHAGWAAN MERE SAARE PARIVAAR PE APNI MEHER BANAYE RAKHNA"!!!!!!!

HANDA HAVELI - NEW DELHI

Sitting in the temple of our haveli not having enough courage to raise my guilt laden eyes to look up to our holy diety. Eyes burdened with pain, shame and remorse. Pain that my family had induced on my innocent child, shame to not been able to safeguard her interests and remorse is all I am left with. I, Rano Handa unfortunately Geet's mother.

Lighting an Akhand diya for the safety of my child, praying to God that the men of this family can never reach her. She stays safe wherever she is in any part of this world but never returns anywhere around The Handa's. While Daarji is resting in his room after giving orders to all men of the household to hunt for Geet and drag her back here so as to she is punished for all her crimes.

Yes her crimes the list is never ending to start with to obey all the orders given , never voice out her opinions, silently bearing all the assault verbal, mental and physical etc. But for all her doings it is we her parents who are responsible we were the ones who never protected her, we were the ones who silently saw her life being ruined in the name of family honour so we should be punished as we failed in giving her better and secured life!!!!

Thinking keeping quiet will keep our children safe and they will move out of this hell but how wrong we were. We had pushed her in yet another hell.

All the men of the house are out looking around for Geet at this hour, but the motive differs when Jethji and Brij are looking around to find her to punish her, Geet's Papaji is also trying his level best to save her from the evil clutches of our so called family.

Though its too late to act but better late than never...

Looking back at my life with Geet's Papaji, I still remember that when I entered this family and his life. Our marriage and the most shocking reality had braced me that my husband was forced for this wedding. Daarji had forced him to marry me so as to stablise their standing in the business world. Mohinder wanted to achieve something, make a mark of his own before settling down. He had confessed and his this honesty just stole my heart. I had fallen in love with him. I had promised him to be a part and support him totally in realizing his dreams.

My support had filled him with a new zeal. He was so happy and also excited that now nothing could stop him but he had failed to recognise that his biggest hurdle in the path to his dreams was his own father. Daarji with the help of his contacts always sabotaged all his opportuities. He was talented and many people came ahead to invest in his dream to open a restaurant but backed off the last moment leaving him shocked as well as lost.

We couldn't understand why this was happening everytime but one night all our questions were answered as Mohinder had heard Daarji thanking the nth investor for backing off on his request.Everytime when he got some positive response he would come home and share his happiness with his family oblivious of the fact that this was his biggest mistake to trust his own people. He was devastated with this piece of information how can his own father do this to him. But ofcourse

'Handa parivaar ka beta ek rasoiyaa nahi ban sakta, Handa parivaar ki izzat ka kya hoga'!!!!

He wanted to leave this house forever but the news of my pregnancy changed his decision. He knew once walking out of this house Daarji and Jethji will leave no stone unturned to bring him back even if it means to break him, hurt him. And he didn't want to risk mine and the little ones life so he sacrificed his life, his dreams and his self respect.

He wasn't weak but very strong. It requires a lot strength to stay with those people who have damaged you to no extent and yet pretend to be your own family!!!!!!

We both had accepted this fate for the betterment and security of our children but all was in vain. Geet's life was also ruined just like Preeti's in the name of 'Khandaan ki Izzat'. While Preeti lost her life and Geet is fighting for her life!!!!!

I joined my hands and earnestly prayed for the wellbeing of my child Geet...
