"Woh ab tak ghar nahi pohachi??? Lekin usse yaha se gaye to bohat waqt hogaya…"

"Yaha se gaye matlab? Tum usse ghar tak chodne bhi nahi aaye??? What is wrong with you Jignesh! I thought you wanted to get back with her…"

"Haan Mikhail lekin meri puri baat toh sunlo! We met and had… a … a small argument… Infact woh meri shakal bhi dekhna nahi chahti thi."

"Aur issliye tumne usse akele jaane diya? How can you be so careless Jignesh… Raat ke 2.30 baj rahe hai aur meri behen ab tak ghar nahi aayi hai. Aur tum mujhe ab bata rahe ho!!! So what if you had an argument… tumhe usske peeche jaana chahiye tha... Kamsekam ghar tak chodna chahiye tha!" Anger and frustration was oozing out of Mikhails voice. He had always thought that Jignesh was smarter than him atleast, but clearly he was wrong.

"Tumhe kya lagta hai mein nahi gaya??? Jaise hi mein utha, maine sabse pehle bahar jaakar check kiya, but she was nowhere to be…"

"… jaise hi mein utha matlab??? Tum kahi gir gaye they???"

Mikhail cut him off and there was a brief pause. Jignesh realised that he has given out more information than he had intended.

"Haan… woh mein… umm… fisal gaya tha… Rashi ke peeche jaate huey… so… Anyway, she was not anywhere! Mein bahar road tak gaya but I could not see her. Mujhe laga usse taxi milgayi hogi yaa she had her own car, so I didn't bother."

"Fine! Lekin tum mujhe pehle phone karke bhi toh bata sakte they tum dono ke beech kya hua? Why didn't you call sooner!"

"Woh… mujhe yaad nahi raha! I was just rewinding my conversation with her. Man… she was so angry. Maine tumse pehle hi kaha tha ki mujhe party mein aane do! Agar mein tab usske saamne aata toh sabke saamne woh apna gussa nikal nahi paati and I could talk to her. Then today would've been our second meeting and probably I could've made her see things in the right light, but… "

"I told you before Jignesh. It was not my party to call you!!! Anyway that is not the point right now, I just hope that…"

Mikhail heard a noise and he paused the conversation. Barking out a quick "I will call you back" to Jignesh, Mikhail went to the door of his room and opened it. He could see Rashi getting in the house through the front door. Her hair were dishevelled, her saree was crumpled and her shoulders were slumped. She looked dejected, depressed… or just plain tired. When she turned towards the stairs, the moonlight shone on her face through the darkness of the living room. For a brief second, when her fatigued face came in clear view to him, Mikhail could swear that he saw a soft smile on her lips as she took the steps to go to her room.

The white pearl… it had a translucent aura around it when light shone on it… like it was encased in a film… or covered in a thin layer of clear water…

Just like almond shaped beautiful eyes… the pearl white area around the black iris, which was laced with tears…

Rajveer held the pearl drop earring in his fingers and lifted it up so that the moonlight bathed it, making the rich white precious bead shine, giving it a cool, calm and serene feel.

Just like the person whose ear it had adorned this evening.

A smile formed on Rajveers lips as he brought his hand back down and kept the earring on his bedside table. Turning on his back, he folded both his hands behind his head and stared at the ceiling, allowing his thoughts and feelings to take over his brain. He had replayed his encounter with Rashi more than 10 times in his head. Being a restless person, he should've been pacing the floor right now, trying to figure out what had happened, for her to break down in this manner.

But he did not feel the urgency anymore. His mind was busy soaking in the trust and comfort that she had found in him tonight. He had been wondering a lot about his feelings and emotions towards this woman, and suddenly he had found the answer to all his questions. He knew what he felt for her and what she thought about him. She had not uttered a single word… but yet… he knew…

From one heart to another… from one pair of eyes to another… he just knew…

He wanted to protect her, share his problems with her, want her to share her problems with him, he wanted to make sure she never cries again, or he would make the person, who makes her cry, pay… probably with his life!!! He adored, admired, respected, fascinated, trusted, appreciated her. She made him happy, and her tears made him sad. Her struggle gave him courage and the kind of woman she was, made him feel proud of her. She was his first female friend, talking to whom, gave him clarity as well as peace. Being with her, just made him feel like he doesn't need anyone else but without her even the entire world seems distant. Her calmness made him want to stop and appreciate what life has offered him till now… including her.

In short… he was… in love.

Arohi turned around and dropped her hand on the bed, searching for the warmth of her hot loving husband. But her warm skin came in contact with cool sheets instead, and she opened her eyes. On the pillow, where Arjuns head should've been, lay a white note, weighed down by a single red rose. Arohi smiled and opened her eyes fully. She gently picked up the rose and admired it. Her husband had made sure that he removed all the thorns from it so that his wife doesn't get hurt.

Arohi remembered the time she had kept a similar rose for Arjun on the pillow and it had pricked him in the eye. He had been angry and after the rose hurt him, he had been mad! Arohi chuckled and picked up the note, opening it to read it.

Have an early morning breakfast meeting

Will try and come home early tonight… if not then I will see you directly at the cottage J

Arohi shook her head at Arjuns single track "romantic" mind. She had to meet Lovedeep bua today for the new project and hence they had stayed home last night. Her mind started planning all the things that she would do with Arjun tonight. It was high time she introduced some other "activities" in their alone time together. Whenever they were alone, they ended up making out! Nowadays they hardly talked, she realised, atleast about each other. They did speak and discuss about other people and whatever happened around them. But they never got to discussing their feelings. After the chandelier incident, Arohi could literally feel the growing insecurity in Arjun. All she wanted to do was coccon him in her arms and give him the assurance that he was seeking.

But she knew that it was not possible as that will mean that Arjun Singhania will have to acknowledge the fact that he was weak. And if Arjun hated anything, then it was weakness. He believed it made a person pity himself and that was something he would never do. So she had been trying through her actions to get him rid of his negativity. She had hoped that she would see him in the morning and he would ask her about last evening or Karan, and then she would confess meeting him. That way she would make Arjun aware and guage his reaction alongwith keeping the promise to Karan.

But her husband had not bothered to ask her or even mention it. This clearly told how he was keeping his end of the trust in her. It also meant how much they needed to discuss the events of their day with each other. Probably during the day she should slip this information to him so that she stops feeling guilty. If not, then she would definitely tell him at the cottage. Yes… that's what she should do. She should also carry some cards and his PS3 so that they can just hangout like friends and have fun.

Making a mental list of all the things required, she started to get up only to realise that she had not worn anything underneath. Quickly dropping back on the bed, she pulled the quilt till her chin and looked around!

She was in her room… alone. Thanking god for that and mentally smacking herself for her stupidity, she wrapped the quilt around her and headed towards the washroom.

Romit stood with his head hung down, occasionally looking up to notice the figure that was pacing the length of the room, very slowly, in front of him. When the figure turned around to stare at him, he quickly looked down again. The figure slowly came towards him and stood in front of him.

Romit steadily looked at the floor.

"Meinu pata hai… kuch na kuch jaroor chal raha hai meri peeth ke peeche." Dadi spoke slowly, pressing on every word, which was dripping with suspiscion.

"Mein bhi tumhari dadi hoon. Pata lagakar rahungi ki aakhir baat kya hai…"

Romit glanced at dadi and quickly looked down again. Why did his dadi always try to intimidate him? Why couldn't she try it for once on his Bro or Rashi di??? The answer was simple… because it wont work on them. If anyone was most scared of Teji Singhania in the entire house, then it was Romit. So clearly he was dadis soft target to be intimidated.

"Aisa kuch nahi hai dadi… aap khamakha…"

"Chupkar! Tu mere dimag ki insult mat kar. Kai dino se dekh rahi hu, tum sab apne hi khayalon mein khoye huey ho. Tu, Arjun, Rashi… aur woh Arohi, woh to jaise kisi hindi serial ke heroine banne ki practise karrahi hai. Kabhi bhi dekho to apne aap se baat karrahi hai ya mann hi mann muskura rahi hai! Ye ho kya raha hai iss ghar mein???"

"Kuch nai dadi… aap ayewai shak karrahe ho. Sachme sab thik hai. Aisa kuch nahi hai jo aap…"

Romits words halted as he saw Raj enter the room wearing a coat and a hat, a small binoculars hanging around his neck and a magnifying glass in his hand.

"Kuch mila???" Dadi asked Raj.

Raj just shook his head in negation and came near Romit. He scrunched up his eyes and stared at his chachu. "Saare saboot bohat smartly hide kiye hai in logon ne. Kisike room se kuch nahi mila."

Romit stared wide eyed at his nephew. While he was getting grilled by his dadi, this shorty was busy going through his room, looking for "evidence". His hands immediately came in front to strangle Raj, but he caught himself midway, feeling dadis gaze on him and stepped back.

Glancing quickly at dadi, Romit smiled. "Kuch milega bhi nahi dadi… kyuki all is well! Aisi koi baat nahi hai. Trust me."

Dadi frowned at him and turned her head towards Raj. Raj slowly shook his head in a 'no' and looked back at Romit.

"Bharosa? Aur tujh pe? Mere bohat saare plans tuney barbaad kiye hai. Terepe raddi bhar ka bharosa nahi hai mujhe!" Dadi thundered and Romit flinched. More than him, his dadi preferred to believe this 3 feet tall detective!!! He was not as smart as Raj but he still had his ego.

"Fine. Toh fir kahiye aapke Karamchand se, ki dhoondle koi saboot, if hes so smart. Mujhe college jaana hai… im getting late."

Dadi and Romit stared at Romits back as he exited the room. Raj looked at the closed door in concentration, twirling the magnifying glass in his hand.

"Saboot toh mein dhund lunga chahu. Aur ye pata lagaunga ki aakhir ho kya raha hai…"

Dadi watched in wonder as Raj gave her a small salute and headed towards the door behind Romit.

Arohi frowned at the blank screen of her phone. Arjun had once again not taken her call.

"Aisi konsi important meeting mein hai ki 2 minute mujhse baat bhi nahi kar sakta???" Flaring her nostrils at the phone, Arohi slumped back in her seat and instructed the driver.

After a minute, her phone beeped, indicating that she had received a message and Arohi jumped to read it.

Sorry in a very imporant meeting… phone was on silent

Arohi was totally snubbed by Arjuns haughtiness but the next message made her blush profusely. A simple I love you from him made her go weak in the knees. How was she supposed to give this guy the cold treatment!!! Picking up the phone she started typing back.

Smiling at herself, she looked outside. She still had 3 hours before Arjun could finish his meeting and meet her at the cottage. Instead of waiting at home or the cottage, she had decided to go to the doctor for check up. This was her first check up and she wanted Arjun to be with her. But seeing the way he had been working, she did not want to force him. He can come for the next one. After all, she will have to get herself checked every month now. Placing a hand gently on her still flat stomach, Arohi bit her lip remembering her conversation with her bua earlier.

FLASHBACK

"Tu agar Arjun se pyaar nahi karti toh bol de!"

"Bua… kaisi behki behki baatein karrahi ho?!

"Aur nahi toh kya… DJ ussko agli baar murga banaake khada karengi kone mein. Soch bichara Arjun… Murga bana hua kitna… bevkoof lagega! Saari hotness khatam hojaani hai usski…"

Arohi had stared at Lovedeep like she had lost her marbles. Her bua sighed and explained.

"Meri Mumtaz Mahal… ye pyaar ke jahaan se baahar niklo aur doctor ke paas jaao check up ke liye. Warna Arjun ki khair nahi hai aur teri bhi."

Realisation dawned on Arohi and her eyes widened. "Mujhe yaad hai bua. Lekin Arjun bohat jyada busy hai issliye… but hum next week pakka jaayenge."

"Tujhe har cheez ke liye Arjun kyu chahiye? Woh bhi aise hi karta hai??? Arohi nahi aayegi toh mein office nahi jaaunga!" Lovedeep mimicked Arjun in the last line and Arohi burst out laughing.

Love kept her hand on Arohis and she sobered up.

"Darr lagraha hai akele jaane mein? Mein chalu tere saath???" Arohi smiled at Loves concern.

"Nai bua… Bas pehli baar jarahi thi toh socha Arjun ke saath jaau. Lekin you're right. Woh pehle hi bohat busy hai, and hes doing it for me and the baby. Pata hai usske ek client ne usse apna Real estate ka business ke liye bohat badi lead di hai. If Arjun can crack that deal then we will have our own business in the next one year. Fir Arjun ko usske dad se obligated feel karne ki koi jarurat nahi."

"Sach? Wow… Tum dono ko iss tarah saath dekhke aur ek dusre ki khushiyon mein khush hote dekhkar bohat achha lagta hai. Agar tumhe kisi bhi cheez ki jarurat ho toh just give me a call. Thikey? Tu akeli nahi hai, ye yaad rakhna."

They both smiled at each other and continued with their work. Arohi sent a quick prayer thanking god for all the love that we being showered on her… by everyone.

FLASHBACK ENDS

Arohis smiling face looked like history when she walked out of the doctors office. She looked completely numb and confused. Her feet involuntarily took her to the main entrance, where the driver was waiting for her. As soon as he saw her, he went to the car and started it. But Arohi did not wait for the car to come to her. She started walking towards the main gate as if in a trance.

The driver followed her and honked, indicating her to get in the car. Arohi stopped and turned around but did not move ahead. The driver pulled down the window. "Arohi beta… gaadi mein baith jaao."

Arohi looked at him for a minute. The driver got down from the car and opened the rear door for her to sit. Slowly she moved towards the car and sat inside. The driver shut the door and rushed back to start the car.

"Cottage jaayenge na beta?" The driver, on receiving no response to his question, sped off to take Arohi to the cottage.

Arohis phone rang and Arjuns name flashed on the screen.

"Beta… aapka phone bajraha hai." The drivers worried eyes were observing Arohi through the rear view mirror. He saw her pick up the phone mechanically and connect the call.

"Haan Arjun… Haan ek ghante mein aarahi hu. Haan directly aarahi hu. Ok. Bye."

She hung up the phone and kept it on the seat next to her. She saw the Gopi kaka looking at her from the mirror and she gave him a fake reassuring smile. He relaxed and shifted his concentration to the road again.

Arohi turned pensive again. She should probably double check with another doctor. Either the doctor was wrong or his machine was wrong.

How can she be… NOT pregnant???!!!
