"Arjun... Aaj please jaldi aajana."
"Kyu? Aaj kya hai?" Arjun rummaged through the files on his desk with both his hands, trying to the balance his cell phone between his ear and shoulder.
"Hai kuch. Har cheez tumhe batana jaruri nahi hai!" Arohi frowned into the phone as if Arjun could see her.
Arjuns hands stilled. He held the phone with his hand and leaned back in his chair. "Achha? Let me guess. Aaj bhi tum saree pehen rahi ho aur uss raat ka repeat performance chahti ho??!!" Arjun grinned widely.
"Tumhara shaitani dimag sirf ek hi track pe chalta hai na?"
"Wrong! Mera ROMANTIC dimag ek hi track pe chalta hai." Arjun chuckled as he imagined Arohis blushes from that night. Ever since she had been back in his house, he had lost the count of number of times they had made love. But there were times like that night, which were pre-planned and unique and hence very special to them.
"Romantic ya tharki???" Arohi bit her lip imagining Arjuns face going from grin to a frown.
"As long as you end up in my arms, tum jo chaho keh sakti ho!"
Arohi gasped at Arjuns new found level of shamelessness. She had always imagined Arjun to be the dark brooding types. She had teased him about his silent nature when they were in the jungle. He used to use words very sparingly and not talk even when required. Unlike Arohi. But he had changed to a certain extent. Not only did he say what was on his mind but he also made sure he made Arohi blush like crazy. Of course, this was applicable only to the romance part of their life, otherwise he was still the silent one. Sometimes she felt he only said these things to make her blush and feel uncomfortable and then he would lean back and watch her calm down her flustered self. Arjun was definitely capable of something like that.
"Actually romantic ho ya tharki, tum bina ek kaan ke bilkul achhe nahi lagoge."
"What! Matlab??"
"Matlab ki agar tum mujhe aaj doctor ke paas nahi legaye to DJ tumhara kaan firse pakad lengi. Aur iss baar shayad tumhare body se alag bhi karde. Kitne bhayanak lagoge tum ek kaan ke bina!"
Arjun frowned. "Sorry I forgot! Actually I have a business dinner today aur mein tumhe phone karne wala tha if you want to join me for it. Doctor ke paas kal chale jaayenge."
"No.. no! I hate these business dinners. Tumhare saare client bohat boring hai. Tum jaao. Lekin jaldi aana."
"Ok. Ek kaam karo. Tum driver se kaho tumhe cottage chod de. Mein bhi wahi aata hu. Aaj raat hum wahi rahenge."
"Nahi aaj nahi! Kal chalte hain. Kal mujhe subah venue pe jaana hai. Lovedeep bua ne bulaya hai, and I don't want to be late. Ok?"
Arjun frowned as his hopes dashed but the cute way in which Arohi asked him "Ok" did not allow him to deny her this request.
"Ok. So mein aaj raat ko akela jaata hu party mein. Waha pata nahi kitni ladkiyan mujhpe chance maarengi mujhe akela dekhke. Lekin don't worry, mein sehen kar lungaa. Ok Byeee." Arjun quickly hung up before Arohi could protest or retaliate. He chuckled to himself imagining Arohis fuming face as she must be staring helplessly at her phone.
Arohi did frown but only for a few seconds. She straightened her face, dialled another number and waited for the person to pick up the phone.

Inspector Chulbul Pandey ruffled the small boys hair, whom he had just rescued from the cluthes of the goons and handed over to his parents. The mother and father had gratitude written on their faces and the young boy looked on in wonder as if he was watching batman or superman stand in front of him.
Chulbul smiled at everyone and brushed the collar of his khaki uniform with the back of his fingers, as if removing the tiny amount of dirt that had settled on his clothes after he had bare handedly ambushed with the kidnappers for 20 minutes. The gathered crowd and his team broke into a cheer for him, shouting praises and hailing their hero.
He turned around and walked away in the sunset, displaying the glares, that were tucked at the back of his neck, in the collar of his uniform. He stopped, his back still facing the crowd, removed his sunglasses and put them on. With a pause in his actions, he turned his head to take one last look at his audience who were looking at him in awe.
ACP Rajveer Singh Ahluwalia, looked straight at them through his ray bans and smiled in the most subtle and classy way possible.
Rashi eyes opened in a shot! They widened as the last image of the ACP stayed in her mind, making a haze in front of her eyes. Wasn't she dreaming of Salman Khan as Chulbul Pandey from Dabanng??? Where the hell did Rajveer come from?!!!
Rashi had been running around in her cabin since morning, trying to get her stuff in order for today evenings meeting. She had information that the company was international and the representative was from London. Hence, she had collected all her cross-over ideas and arranged them in a folder along with her collection. She had gone through her check list for her meeting and all that remained was for her to get ready and go over her bio-data once more. But more than anything she needed to be fresh in her mind for the meeting. Hence she decided to take a quick 10-minute power nap on the sofa of her cabin itself.
The power nap had somehow turned into a bit longer than she had planned and Rashi had dozed off. However, being the ever careful person, she had set an alaram for 30 minutes, from the time she closed her eyes, incase she does fall asleep. But before the alarm could have the good fortune of waking her up, a certain police personnal had done that unknowingly.
Shaking her head at her silly dream, Rashi jumped up from the couch and called the pantry for a coffee. Hanging up the phone, she opened her diary to look at the check list and started arranging things in order of the time when she will be needing them. Her conscious mind was planning every thing for her virtually, moving ahead in time and giving her a mental preview. But her subconscious mind refused to budge from the last part of her dream, trying to suck her back to that image and make her dream further. Fighting desperately to stay focused, Rashi decided to make peace with herself by accepting that he DID affect her and promising herself that she will think about it later.

Arohi twirled the spoon inside the mug to mix the added sugar in her coffee. She felt relaxed after speaking to him, sharing her worries with him. She had not expected him to offer a solution, he could not, even if he tried. But at times sharing information can open your mind to a different point of view and give your thoughts an entire new direction to move in. This is exactly what he did for her and she appreciated it. Taking a sip of her coffee, she kept her mug on the table and looked around. There were not many people in the coffee shop today who preferred sitting outside. Smiling in general at noone, she turned her eyes to him.
Karan was looking at her, observing her. He knew that she knew why he was doing that, and yet he could not stop himself. Although Karan and Arohi had been together as friends years ago, this friendship had been very special to him. Arohi was the first girl who had cared for him and listened to him without questioning. The fact that she was younger to him and hence bound to be more submissive was obvious, but still her affection did not come because to her innocence. It came out of a heart-to-heart connection, something which came very rare to Karan. Arohi may have 10 relationships which meant a lot to her, but Karan had only few. And Arohi was one of them.
Hence when his parents had proposed his marriage to her, he could not refuse. He had to meet her, talk to her, revive their friendship. It was the best thing that had happened to him as a child and hence he wanted to feel that way again. If nothing else, then he wanted that unconditional friendship back. And he had been stunned to see Arohi the same. Life and age changes people to a certain extent, be it anyone. But Arohi had been just the way she was. Warm, loving and affectionate. Yes she had become more strong and mature. But the essence of her nature had remained, undaunted by time or experience. And he, Karan, had been pleasantly surprised at that.
"Kya soch rahe ho?"
Arohis question, broke his chain of thoughts and he smiled at her. "Kuch nahi. Yahi soch raha hu ki tum bilkul waisi ki waisi hi ho. Bilkul nahi badli."
"Hmm... Lekin tum badal gaye ho. Tum kabhi itne chaalakh nahi they. Ab toh tumse bachke rehna padega."
"Hahaha..." Karan broke out into a laughter. "Don't worry Arohi... Tumhe mujhse koi khatra nahi. After all, tum meri bachpan ki dost ho."
Arohi grinned widely. "Good. Tumhe unn saare chocolates ka waasta jo maine tumhare saath share kiye they. Warna tumse dushmani bohat bhaari pad sakti hai." The two childhood friends shared the laughter at their private joke. The warmth and camaraderie could be felt in the air from even 10 feet away.
Or rather 24 feet away. Exactly from where Arjun was sitting in a booth inside the coffee shop with his old contact and client. The words that his client was saying were falling on deaf ears as Arjuns entire concentration was on the couple sitting outside whom he could see through the glass window. A small frown marked his forehead indicating the displeasure he felt at watching his wife laugh with a guy whom he was insanely jealous of. The same guy who had not only helped his grandmother but also saved his wifes life. Arjuns frown was more on the invisible handcuffs that gratitude had placed on his wrists, when all he wanted to do was strangle Karan bare-handed.

"Table no 21 in the coffee shop ma'm. Please go straight and take a right from here."
Rashi nodded her thanks to the receptionist, as he guided her to the venue of her meeting. Picking up her portfolio, she moved towards the doors.
Taking Arohis advice, she had dressed herself in a peach coloured chiffon saree. It was fading from one end to the other, from peach to cream. The peach coloured short sleeved blouse had a thin silver lining along the neck which outlined the back and sleeves too. The saree had a silver coloured thick border running on both sides, with cream coloured maple leaf motif on it. The end of the pallu had silver work with the same motif woven in one single line. A thin white pearl string necklace, pearl drop earrings and a multiple beaded pearl bracelet, finished off the simple accessories that accentuated this classy saree. Subtle nude makeup and an ss strapped watch, with a mother-of-pearl dial, finished off the last classy touch that she could give to her outfit.
Rashi had made many heads turn in the reception as soon as she had entered that space from the lobby. She was an attractive woman, but her simple attire just appealed everyone around and enhanced her innocent looks. Her look tonight and her graceful walk was a killer combination for anyone not looking for a heartbreak. The portfolio in her hand gave her immense confidence and boost which reflected in her walk.
Rashi entered the almost empty coffee shop and inquired for the reserved table. Settling herself on the chair, she kept her bag on the adjacent one and her portfolio on the table, in front of her. It was that time of the year when children were busy with their exams. Hence the locals were inside their houses and tourists consisted of only business class people, who travelled alone and preferred to eat in their room. Straightening herself, she looked outside the glass wall of the hotel, overlooking the lake beyond. The sun had set already, leaving an pinkish orange glow in the sky, like a multi-coloured ice gola.
Rashi smiled at that thought. Her life had also suddenly become multi-coloured. The sudden freedom from her nightmare, the independence of working on her dream, the unshakeable support of the people who mattered to her and the incredible feeling of being wanted and loved had set her wings free to fly like a butterly in her own garden. She felt light and bright and was looking forward to every single day when she woke up in the morning. Her smile turned wistful as her eyes glazed, lost in her own thoughts, such that she did not notice the man walking towards her, looking at her, till he came and occupied the seat opposite her.
Rashis smile slipped slowly as her brain woke up alarmingly. Her eyebrows knitted in a frown and her body tightened in anger, looking at the short, semi-bald man sitting in front of her, with an all-knowing smile on his face.
"Hi Rashi... Looking very good!" His tiny eyes surveyed Rashi from over the table slowly.
"Must say you've taken real good care of yourself." He finished off grinning away.
Rashi calmed her mind for a minute before she realised what was happening here. Jumpstarting from her seat, she started gathering her bag and portfolio to leave from there, that very minute.
"Arre kya hua Rashi? Maine khaas ye meeting ek coffee shop mein rakhi hai... kyuki mujhe laga tumhe aajkal coffee shops bohat achhe lagne lage hai??!!" Rashi looked on wide-eyed, trying to decipher the meaning of his words, whereas Jignesh continued to see her with an "i-got-you" look in his eyes.
