Chapter Seventeen – The Runaway
It all made sense. He hated her because she was adopted…
He hated her because he felt she didn't deserve to be a Sharma.
He hated her…but that gave him no right to hurt her.
I sped up and reached the Sharma mansion back gate within fifteen minutes.
Just as I was about to pull into clear view in front of the gate, the same helpful guard stepped in front of my car.
He was stripped of his uniform.
He gestured for me to turn around.
I got out of my car.
"What happened?!"
"GO! Run...they're waiting to hurt you. RUN!"
"I'll deal with that Raj! But I'm not leaving. Not without Madhu!"
"She ran away through the back! I helped her."
"In fifteen minutes?!"
"She took your shortcut, just go!"
"No, I gotta teach him a lesso…"
"NO! Find Madhu! Before she hurts herself. Leave. NOW."
I stared at the guard and realized he was right. Madhu was more important than Raj at the moment.
"You're right…I'll deal with him later."
I pulled out some cash.
"No, not today son. She went that way."
He pointed to his right.
I thanked him and quickly got into my car.
I drove down the street but didn't see her.
How far could she have gotten within fifteen minutes?! I wondered to myself.
I turned left at a stop sign and that's when I saw her curls from behind. They were a mess. From the back she seemed as though she was dragging her feet but limping at the same time.
I brought my car to a stop beside her but she kept walking.
She was in a trance.
I quickly got out of my car and ran towards her.
"MADHU!"
She didn't stop walking.
I got a hold of her arm and turned her to face me.
She had her eyes looking down towards the ground.
Bruises covered her face and arms.
Her hair was a mess.
And her lip bled in the same place it had bled a few days prior.
"Madhu…"
I pulled her in for a hug.
She needed it.
Or maybe I did…I was just glad I had found her.
But she didn't hug back. She was like a doll, not moving…rather being moved, by me.
I pulled her away and took her face in my hands. I attempted to look into her eyes.
"Listen to me…you're okay now. I won't let anything happen to you."
She didn't respond.
She didn't even look up at me.
She wasn't crying.
She was just in shock.
I didn't know what to do.
I let her go to see what she'd do and she turned away from me and began walking again.
Almost as though she were a robot.
I grabbed her arm and made her come to a stop.
I picked her up and placed her in the passenger seat of my car.
I put on her seatbelt and then closed her door.
Before I got into the car myself, I made a phone call to Bittuji.
"Hello chief?"
"Bittuji, you have thirty minutes to empty the guest room of all Madhu pictures. And inform the Bhatias that I don't want them at home anymore. I'll be making hotel arrangements for them. Tell them if they don't leave within twenty minutes, then the hotel arrangements will be cancelled."
"Okay chief…but why?"
"I'm bringing her home."
this is horrible..hw cn a brother beat sis like that though she is adopted nt his real sis...
Nice update.poor madhu with bruises and all.I want raj to suffer for whatever he did.eager to know what will happen once madhu goes to RKs mansion.
