Chapter - 9
Chopra Industries:
"Well done Ms. Geet! I am very,very impressed. We managed to bag the deal with Khurana Constructions because of you.", Mr. Chopra said.
"Oh no, sir! It was a team effort", Geet said humbly.
"Yes, you could say that, but we were waiting for months to get this project confirmed but the minute you set foot into this office, things have been going well.", he continued to sing her praises.
"Thank you, sir!", Geet said while smiling.
"Well, here are the other project files that you have to go through for the recruitment of new employees. I need you to take care of the personnel for our upcoming project with KC.", Mr. Chopra said while handing over a few files to her.
"Okay sir.", Geet said, while taking them.
"Ms. Ankita, please show Ms. Geet to her cabin.", Mr. Chopra said to his secretary.
Geet followed Ankita, "Wow! I am going to get my very own cabin.", Geet thought to herself excitedly. " I wonder what it looks like."
She was very impressed when she went inside. The bottom half of the walls were made of wood and the upper half was glass where she could see the passersby. The cabin's walls had very interesting paintings and wall hangings. To her right was a shelf half- filled with files. Her desk had a laptop, some stationary and a vase with flowers in it.
"I suppose I can make the desk look better by adding my special touch to it.", she thought with a smile.
"Here you are Ms. Geet, your very own cabin.", Ankita said. "How do you like it?", she asked.
"It's very nice.", Geet said while looking around.
"Okay then, I'll have to go now but if you need anything you can always ask me,", Ankita said with a smile.
"Thank you, I will." Geet said.
After Ankita left, Geet sat in her seat. "Chal Geet puttar! It's time to start working. I better go through these employee recruitment files first.", she said while pulling one out from the pile she was given.

"Adi, Sasha, I think we should throw a party in order to celebrate the collaboration of our company with Chopra Industries for this new project. By doing so, it'll also help in making a good impression of our company to the clients.", Maan said while working on his laptop.
" I agree MK.", Sasha said.
"You're right sir. I think it's a good idea.", Adi said in agreement.
"Great! Sasha, I want you to arrange this party and remember, it should be flawless as usual. You know that I don't like any mistakes or goof-ups.", Maan said, sounding stern.
"Ofcourse, MK. I'll get to work right away.", Sasha said and made her way out of his cabin.
"Adi, look after the overall funding and costing of this party.", Maan said.
"O...o..okay sir!", Adi stammered while adjusting his spectacles and went back to his cabin.
Maan leaned back on his chair, lost in thoughts. Now that he didn't have much work to do for the day he let his thoughts wander which immediately went back to Geet and the meeting they had, had that morning.
"I hope she's okay", he thought to himself, remembering how upset she was when he spoke to her.
"Hope to see you soon Geet.", he said out aloud with a smile.
Tasha who was walking past Maan's cabin, just happened to see him smile and literally balked. "MK sir is smiling! OMG!", she exclaimed. "Did he get up from the wrong side of the bed?", she thought.
Maan who saw her from his cabin glared at her which made her make a mad dash back to her cabin.

The rest of the day went by very smoothly for Geet. She finished going through all the files and selected those whom she felt were the most suitable to work on the new project. "It'll take only about two - three days to interview and select the best out of these candidates.", she said to herself with a satisfied smile.
She turned to her left and saw the time. " It's six 'o' clock. I better make a move now. I have to go back and help Meera get ready.", she said.
She collected her belongings and made her way out of the office. " I hope I get back home on time. Meera shouldn't get late because of me.", she said to herself while getting into a taxi that she had caught.

" So how was your day Geet?", Meera asked while Geet got into the house.
"It went well Meera. I got a lot of work done on time today.", Geet said while making her way to the washroom to freshen up.
" I am surprised that a clumsy oaf like you is very efficient at work.", Meera teased.
"Ha! Ha! Very funny!", Geet said sarcastically while wiping her face with a towel. "Anyway, we should get started. Have you selected a dress to wear yet?", Geet asked, while making her way to Meera's room.
"Not yet yaar.", Meera whined while following her. "I just couldn't choose an appropriate outfit. And you know that I have to be really careful with what I wear, right? My first impression has to be really good." Meera said while rummaging through her wardrobe.
"Well, I think this one will look great on you, traditional yet modern and chick, totally you.", Geet said while pulling out a salwar which was made in a very modern style. "And you look amazing in purple.", Geet said with a smile.
"It's perfect!", Meera said happily.
Soon Meera started getting ready and Geet helped her with her hair and a dash of makeup.
"You look gorgeous! I am telling you, his parents are going to be more floored than he'll be tonight.", Geet said, while smiling at Meera's reflection.
"Thanks a ton Geet!", Meera said.
"Thanks ki bacchi!", Geet said while clearing up the mess they had made of Meera's room. "Anyway, you should wait in the hall. Yash will be here any minute to pick you up.", Geet said.
"Yaar Geet, tu bhi aana, moral support ke liye.", ,Meera said with a baby face.
"No way Meera, I mean, we're best friends and all but this is waaay too personal. You know what I mean. He is going to introduce you to his parents and then if all goes well, which I am sure it will, you'll be getting to know each other better and all. Main kabab mein haddi nahin banna chahti hoon. And Yash might not say anything 'cos he's a nice guy but I am sure that his parents would mind.", Geet explained.
Meera pouted. Geet sighed and came upto her and gave her a side hug. "Meera, I am always there for you and you know that. It's just that it won't be right for a third person to be around for something as personal and important as this.", Geet explained patiently.
"But you are not a third person.", Meera whined.
"To you, I am not, but to them, I am.", Geet said. " Try to understand.", she said pleadingly.
They heard the honk of a car.
"I guess Yash is here. All the best!", Geet said while walking Meera out the door.
"You're sure that you don't wanna come?", Meera asked while making a baby face again.
"Meera….", Geet said in an admonishing tone.
"Okay…", Meera squeaked. "Bye!", she said while getting into the car and waving.
"Bye and I hope that everything goes well.", Geet said, waving.
She waited outside till Yash's car was out of side. "Haye Babaji! I hope everything goes well for Meera.", she prayed.
