Chapter 2

"You call the police. I shoot. So just give me the money."

For a moment, Khushi was frozen. The man had his gun pressed to the poor woman, who looked like she was about to faint. The entire store, which was usually bustling with activity, was dead silent. Khushi could hear her heartbeat. Usually, this happened because Arnavji was around but this time, it was because she was afraid. The fear did not last long however. It soon gave away to anger and Khushi made her way to the masked man, being careful to keep out of his line of vision.

When no one responded, the robber grew impatient and tightened his grip on the young woman, who whimpered. The cashier hurriedly opened the register, pulling out a huge wad of money. The masked man eagerly extended his hand out for the stack, when suddenly, a gold colored shoe with a small heel came flying out of nowhere and smacked him on the head.

"What the hell'?' He turned in the direction of the shoe when another came and hit him right in the middle of his face.

"Thief! Thief! How dare you!! I will not let you get away with this!!! After all, I am Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada!" Khushi slowly advanced towards the robber, wielding her weapons, which consisted of more shoes, most of which were rather deadly looking.

The masked man just laughed and brandished his gun towards Khushi. He felt sorry for this girl who thought she could take him on. But he had to admire her as he saw not fear, but anger, in her hazel eyes. It was a pity she would die in a few minutes.

The robber pointed the gun at Khushi, about to release the trigger when a hot pink stiletto came flying across the room, the lethal heel spearing him right in the eye. He instinctively let go of the woman he was holding and his hand came up to cradle his throbbing eye.

"Ahhh! You crazy woman! I will kill you!" Half blinded with pain, the robber aimlessly shot in Khushi's direction. Unfortunately for him, he did not manage to scare her, but rather poured fuel into her fury.

"HOW DARE YOU SHOOT AT KHUSHI KUMARI GUPTA SINGH RAIZADA! DO YOU KNOW WHO MY HUSBAND IS?? ARNAV SINGH RAIZADA! AND HE WILL NOT SPARE YOU WHEN HE FINDS OUT ABOUT THIS!"

She charged towards the robber, grabbing a dupatta off a nearby mannequin while she ran towards him. She clumsily wrapped the dupatta around his head and the man, who by this time sincerely regretted coming into the store, lost his balance and fell over.

Khushi quickly grabbed two of the fallen shoes that littered the floor around him and whacked the robber a few more times on the head for good measure. After satisfying herself that he would not get up anytime soon, she stood up and dusted off her hands, as though the entire thing was as simple as making a rangoli design for Diwali. She then surveyed the room, noting the shocked expressions of the other people in the store, who were simply standing there with their mouths agape. Well aren't they going to thank me or anything? I did just save their lives! People these days..

Every storm brings with it calm but that tranquility lasts but a few moments. The chaos that a storm leaves in its wake erupts soon afterwards. Susheela Outfitters and Jewelry was no exception. After another second of silence, the room burst into complete bedlam. The police had arrived at the store and promptly began questioning the managers. These police! Arriving after I just did all their work for them!What do they get paid for anyways?

Soon, people surrounded Khushi as they excitedly congratulated her and praised her bravery. How did she get the courage to stand up to the robber? "I have always been on the side of justice but also my Salmanji inspired me! Especially his movie Ek Tha Tiger. The way he bashed up those goons!" Where did she get the idea to use a dupatta? "My romantic moments with my husband inspired me. You know one time.. No. I won't tell you. Some things are private, you know!" That was very brave of her indeed. Of course it was! She couldn't wait to tell Arnavji! He would be so proud of her!

Suddenly Khushi noticed the woman the robber had been holding. She had sunk to the ground where he had let go of her, as though her knees had given away. Khushi quickly ran over to her. The woman was unresponsive, her eyes glassy as they stared blankly at nothing. Khushi looked around. There did not seem to be anyone with the woman.

She seems to have come alone. Maybe I should see if I can use her phone to call a family member. She picked up the woman's purse and rummaged through it. Once she found the woman's phone, she scrolled through her contacts list. Virenji, Mannu, Virat... Who should I call? Hmm.. This Virenji is the first person on the list. I'll try calling him.

In the men's bathroom stall, NK decided that ten minutes of hiding in the restroom had been enough and Khushiji would be getting worried if he stayed any longer. Also, the other men were starting to give him weird looks as he cowered inside, so he decided that it would be best to go back. After all, he had another hour of necklace selections to look forward to. As he came to the front of the store, he realized he could not get back through. There was a huge mob of people and police officers surrounding the entire place. What happened in the ten minutes I was gone? He decided to ask someone in the crowd if they knew anything about the current situation.

"Excuse me mister? Do you know what happened? Why are there police surrounding this store?"

"Apparently a man came in and tried to rob the store. He had a gun with him and he even shot a couple times! I heard that some girl even died!"

"WHAT!?" Oh god! Was Khushiji ok? NK's mind immediately filled up with horrific images of Khushi's body lying motionless, covered in blood. I should never have left in the first place. I need to call Nannav immediately! This is actually important!

Thankfully this time the situation was such that I'd actually say that Khushi was incredibly lucky not to get hurt ... and badly at that!

Hats off to her though! She's pretty filmy with her way of dealing with the gunman, but it did the job.
