Malaika Arora Khan says the Khan-daan is all set for Eid, Diwali and her birthday.
With Diwali and Eid clashing once again this year, writer Salim Khan's 'cosmopolitan' family is as usual gearing up for the dual festivities. But for his daughter-in-law Malaika Arora Khan, the upcoming celebrations promise to be even more special, as she will be turning a year older on October 23.
"I may have an 80s theme party for my birthday, but nothing is decided yet. I'm waiting for Amrita (her actor sister) to get back because if I don't include her in the plans, all hell will break loose," she laughs.
Last year, the entire family including Salman Khan celebrated Eid for three days at their farm house in Panvel. Tents were erected for hundreds of guests who turned up to wish the family. "My mother-in-law outdid herself – it was unbelievable," she recalls.
This year, too, big plans are in store, though Malaika is not willing to disclose much. "I've been married for 15 years now, and suffice it to say – any celebration in the Khan household is larger than life'. The food, hospitality...everything is amazing," she says, adding that her parents, sister, in-laws and friends will spend Diwali at her home as is custom.
A judge for the second time on 'Nach Baliye 2', the fashionista is enjoying the high drama of the popular celebrity dance reality show. "It's the high point of my life right now," she says, acknowledging that she is the least critical of the three judges (choreographer Saroj Khan and filmmaker Kunal Kohli are the other two). "The couples are doing an amazing job of balancing between practicing for the show and their grueling work schedules. Hats off to them!"
So does the birthday girl have any special wishes? "I'm hoping to launch my restaurant and my fashion label early next year, if all goes as planned," she signs off.
