He woke up to her arm flung carelessly across his chest, her hand firmly lodged in his fist and her leg wedged between his thighs. Arnav smiled and snuggled closer to his beautiful wife. This was one reason why he liked spending the night at Buaji's house. Otherwise, it was a nightmare.
The mosquitoes of Laksmi Nagar had somehow developed a certain resistance to the air conditioner and now, they wouldn't leave his blood flow in peace. He could neither decrease the room temperature to a near freezing one because even if he could adjust with that very well, his little wife could not. She would wake up the next morning with a cold and the last thing he wanted during the pregnancy was Khushi being sick.
She did find their situation very funny, unlike him. She had an unbeatable sweet tooth and would jump at every occasion to eat sweets though she had lessened it now as the doctor had advised her; lesser sugar in her blood would supposedly decrease the chances of the baby having diabetes too. Yet, the teeny vampires would leave her alone to devour her diabetic husband. Seriously, what the hell was funny with that?
She moaned in her sleep and squirmed, running her hand on his scratchy cheek. Arnav grinned and turned his head to kiss her palm, then he moved closer to kiss the top of her head. Khushi opened her eyes groggily. She looked really beautiful in the mornings, with her hair tousled in an adorable way, even if she hated it.
"Hai re Nand Kissore! Garima! Chaai bani ke naahin?" came Buaji's loud screech. (... Is the tea ready or not?)
Khushi smiled up at him and blinked a few times, her fingers rubbing her tummy. She sat up and started getting out of bed but Arnav held her wrist.
"Kahaan jaa rahi ho tum?" he frowned. (Where are you going?)
She gave him an embarrassed smile. "Bathroom."

A smile bloomed on his lips as he observed her through the window as he was returning from his daily morning exercise session. She was standing in front of the tall mirror on the wall, looking at her figure, with her hands trying to flatten her navy blue anarkali against the rounded curves of her bump. She pouted and smiled, her eyes dreamy.
Her hands fell at her sides when Garima came in with a cup of piping hot tea. She blushed and took it but as soon as his mother-in-law had left, he saw her put the cup on the table and turn to the stars suspended over the bed. Her expression made him frown. She was thinking really hard...
Then, her hands went up to untie the strings which held the stars. A shiver crept down his spine. The last time she had removed these stars from there, she had almost killed herself... What was she going to do now?
Arnav could not help but feel apprehensive.

"Kya kar rahi ho tum?" (What are you doing?)
Khushi jumped, her eyes wide as she turned to face her husband. Her jaw almost fell open at the disgustingly devastatingly handsome face. His hair was tousled artfully, by the wind or the exercise or the sleep. A thin sheen of sweat covered every inch of his exposed skin, unexpectedly making his neck appear even sexier. She gulped at her outrageous thoughts. How could she even think something like that? And how could someone so sweaty be so appealing? The hormones most probably...
"Khushi! I'm talking to you dammit!" he took a step closer.
Only then, she noticed his smouldering eyes. Why was he-? She suddenly remembered and smiled at his protectiveness which almost bordered possessiveness.
"Hum bas yeh taare nikaal rahe the." (I was just removing these stars.)
"Why?" he tried sounding stern but she saw the shakiness in his voice.
Khushi skipped nearer to him with a broad smile. "Voh hum soch rahe the ke hum yeh tare leke paalne ke upar latkaaeinge!" she told him excitedly, hugging his arm. "Sochiye! Humaare Chhote hamesha apne Nana, Nani aur Dadi ko apne paas payenge!" (I was thinking we'll hang these stars above the babycot! Think! Our Chhote will always have his Nana, Nani and Dadi with him!)
His frown dissolved into a smile while he felt his insides melt. He had been freaking out unnecessarily. Arnav slid his free hand into her hair and tipped her head back to kiss her forehead. Strangely, he was grateful to her to have added his mother to her stars. Well, this was Khushi. This was his Khushi...
She turned to hug him and rub her face against his chest, letting him enjoy the push her enlarging tummy exerted on his hard stomach. All of a sudden, he felt a jab down there and simultaneously, his wife pulled away with a little howl. His gut tightened in fear. What the hell was happening to her? But far from worrying, she was giggling even as she caressed the place the pain had started.
"Khushi tum theek to ho?" he asked, his heartbeat increasing out of panic. (Khushi, are you alright?)
She grinned back at his worried face. "Dhakka maara!" (Kicked!)
"What the-? What do you mean dhakka maara? Maine nahin maara!" (... I did not kick!)
With a roll of her eyes, Khushi grabbed his hand and pressed it against her tummy. "Aapne nahin, aapke Chhote ne," she gently explained. There was another nudge and he gulped. (Not you, your little you!)
"Normal hai?" (Is that normal?)
Khushi nodded and Arnav broke into a smile. "I love you, you know that?"
His wife pouted and pretended to think before she playfully shook her head in negation. He smirked and bent closer to brush his lips against her ear.
"Ghar chalo, bata dounga." (I'll show you onve we are home.)
Her eyes widened, horrified at his audacity, but Arnav Singh Raizada had already taken his towel and strode to the bathroom.
