Psst...Take a peek at my above post 😛

And of course the next update is below. Does this story feel different from TSWL? Tell me how please! Also let me know if you are enjoying it. I am just trying something new. Ok may be new is stretching it 😕. Just let me know whatever.

Chap 9:

Geet:

She was going to be fired but was saved by the damned instrument again. Maan's cell phone rang. He picked it up to answer in his clipped tone. In the short while that she had known him, it seemed like his usual style of conversing. Not that inviting.

When he picked the call up his face had a pleased expression. She assumed the conversation must have gone like this:

Caller "I am not able to make it because of the reason blah blah blah."

Maan "Yes there were issues with that factory earlier as well. No problem. I will check the documents you will need to sign and bring them home."

Caller "More blah.."

Maan "Fine see you at.". It seemed like Maan was cut off mid sentence. On a reflex he stopped talking and looked at the phone display. His expression suggested that it was not an issue with the network provider.

He did not speak for a couple of seconds. She stared at him with bated breath. There was a talk of home and if that caller had the gall to cut this man off then he or she had to be someone related to Maan and higher up. Geet could bet it was her own boss. Dev Singh Khurana. So the part about him being difficult was in all probability true. The next sentence from Maan confirmed all her doubts.

Maan "Sir is not going to be in today. He is held up."

Geet could almost poke at the heavy silence that followed.

Geet "I will may be come back a little later?"

She thoughtfully walked out. But as she sat at her desk she felt an explosive sense of anger. As if fate itself was mocking her. Why was everything in her life going wrong? Was all this something a college student was supposed to be going through.

Then her thoughts swam back to the time when she had had to make a decision to be a secretary some days earlier. And people this is exactly the reason why cell phones need to switched off before important tasks.

"I am Arnav Singh Raizada."

What the. Same second name as that name liar Dev Singh Khurana. Must be his second cousin or something dammit!

Geet smiled "Hello. I am Geet. Nice meeting you. I have internals tomorrow. So let me just take your leave now."

Thank God Veerji had not insisted she spend time with that Arnav person. On normal days she would have stayed to find out the effect of the spicy pakoras. Oddly though, at the moment she just could not wait to get back to her studies. The next day however was a nightmare. She was doing her last minute revisions and was biting her poor nails off in a bid to increase her memory capacity.

As she was about to enter the examination hall she received a call. It was Dolly. Ok this better be good.

Geet "Dolly, I…."

Dolly "Geet! Come to the emergency room at Victoria hospital. Right now!"

Geet almost dropped her phone. She did not think for even one second. She hailed the next available taxi and was in front of the hospital in half an hour. Dolly was waiting for her by the reception. Her eyes looked swollen with crying.

Geet "Is it Rajji? Veerji? What happened!"

Dolly "Today I thought I was going to become a widow Geete. Your brother complained of severe chest pain on his left side."

Geet "Left side! What did the doctors say?"

Dolly "They took him to the emergency room. But thankfully it turned out to be just gas."

Geet "Gas?"

Geet was now massaging her temples. Lack of sleep, over studying and tension was taking its toll.

Geet "Why did you not tell me this before Dolly? You made me miss my internals because of gas!"

Dolly "I got scared re. Your brother is all I have in this world. What would happen to me and Rajji if he were to pass away at such a young age. Doctor warned that his blood pressure is high and his diet needs to be controlled. Doctor also advised a few days bed rest. Your brother works too hard."

Geet was trying to find a chair. She had to sit down for this.

Dolly "They have now shifted him to a ward. He would be awake by now I think. So let us just go see him. Doctor said he must not take stress at all. He must be tension free. Else this health scare will become real."

Geet sighed "Ok. Come let us go see him."

Dolly "You go ahead. I have to clear the hospital dues."

Brij was up and sitting now, sipping soup slowly. He seemed a pale shadow of his former self. Geet's heart pained when she looked at her brother. Gas or no gas, chest pain was chest pain.

Geet enquired softly "Veerji, how are you now?"

Brij nodded sadly "Makes one think, doesn't it? I was thinking I will live forever. I will do this and I will do that. But see. Babaji has other plans."

Geet "Veerji, nothing happened na, it was just gas. Nothing will happen. You are going to be fine."

Veerji however appeared to have taken this as a sign from Babaji himself. Geet could not help but hear the wedding bells ringing. She felt a sense of impending doom. She just wished it was her that had the chest pain and not him. Her entire brain was screaming. 'I don't want to get married! I want to live before I die.'

Brij "Though you are young you are a strong girl. You will take care of Dolly and Rajji if I pass away na? You will not throw them out of the house."

Geet playfully punched his arm "Veerji, What are you talking? I love them both. And nothing is going to happen to you."

Brij sighed "Geet puttar. If you don't mind can I say something?"

Geet's heart was pounding at the sentences that she knew were going to be spoken. She braced herself for the inevitable. There was no way she could refuse her brother when he was in this state. Her life was officially over. All her research dreams had evaporated as gas in her brothers stomach.

Brij "I am tired Geet. I have tried my level best to provide for this family. But in this life I don't think I will be able to do all that is expected of me."

Geet could not stop a few tears forming. She willed for time to freeze. She prayed to Babaji that she would get to marry a nice man who would treat her right. But she knew that was just wistful thinking. Which worthy man out there cared nowadays for a college anytime now dropping out middleclass girl? One was spoilt for choice with girls who looked like a million bucks, had big degrees and earned good money as well.

Brij "I know you have high aims in your life. You want to do Phd. You want to do research. But beta, we are middle class people. We cannot always follow our dreams. For my sake and for my family's sake is it possible for you to put your studies on slow track for a year or two?"

Geet was sinking now "Veerji…"

Brij "You are a beautiful girl. Even a blind man will not refuse you. I could have gotten you married very easily. But I don't want to ruin your dreams. Marriage will only hold you back. Look what happened to me?"

Geet blinked. Wait a second here. May be her ears were ringing with all the wedding bells. Did she hear him right?

Brij "So I have realized marriage is not the end of the world. It is more important for my sister to be independent and stand on her own two feet. Work and study at the same time through correspondence. I know you can do it."

Geet's eyes lit up. She could not believe her ears. "You think so, Veerji?"

Brij smiled "Arre. You have Daarji's smarts. You are a befitting granddaughter to him. If Rajji can be half as intelligent as you I would be proud of her."

Geet smiled.

Brij "So go puttar. Follow your dream and make your life."

This was it. This was all it took. Just one sentence from her brother that he had her back. While she would go on and conquer the world. She knew her brother would understand her someday. And support her. He was not as strict or heartless as he seemed. He was just an overworked man who was trying his best for his family.

Geet "But what will I do Veerji? Where will I work."

Brij nodded "Oi. I may be nearing it, but I am not dead yet. I have a lot of contacts in real estate. I will get you a nice job somewhere. Don't worry about that. It may not be something hifi but I will make sure it is decent."

Geet hugged her brother out of happiness. She was ready to take on the world. This was all she needed.

Brij "I know so many people. Let me make a few calls right now. Ah let me see, how does Khurana constructions sound?"

Geet "What! You mean I have to work for Dev Singh Khurana?"

Brij frowned "You know him?"

Geet "I met him at the party the other day. He is not a nice man at all! I don't want to work for a man like him."

Brij shook his head "Party sharty is different. You must not let that rule your decision. KC is a prestigious company. Your experience there will help you in life. I have heard a lot about the Khuranas. They are nice people. In office there will be hundreds of people working. You will be fine."

Geet "If you say so, Veerji."

Brij conversed seriously with another person on the phone. He did not speak much. Just nodded and barked monosyllables.

Brij "Puttar, it seems like you have to write a written test to get through. You do not mind na?"

Geet "I don't mind at all. Actually it is better."

Thinking about all this itself was driving her mad. She needed an outlet once more. She opened her Geet Frank diary. What a perfect time to continue Murphy's love story.

Geet Frank diary:

Murphy's love story continued(again, not Barfi please!).

She kept her eyes lowered lest she be admonished later by her brother for not displaying lady like behavior. She sometimes wondered if she was in the wrong century. Which family behaved like they were in medieval India? Ha! Of course her family did. And she was born into it in this twisted story. So she could not even stare at Ji for too long or kiss her prince charming good bye.

She kept concentrating on his beautiful toes instead. They could rival those of rich ladies who had a pedicure everyday. And walked around in their own homes in chappals. The nails were big and strong. She was sure an ordinary nail clipper would not work for them. She would massage those toes everyday when she would be his wife. Or better ask him to massage her forehead with those works of art. After all patni ki jagah pati ki toes mai hoti hai, hai na?

In all her wicked thoughts about toes, she did not pay attention to the enlightening conversation going on around her. Apparently there were more important things in life for a man than maintaining his toes. For example money, business etc. Apparently Ji wanted her ancestral land. So? Her brother could just make her sign or just ask Ji to forge it himself. Whatever. What was important was she had fallen irrevocably in love with he who must not be named.

But alas it was not meant to be. This man did not want to marry her to stare at her all day. He wanted something else out of this match. Well of course he did. In the city he could marry any pretty girl he wanted. Why would he come to a small town seeking to marry a not so pretty girl and having her live in a pipe dream for nothing? Her brother was being unreasonable she gathered.

So she made her own plans now to become one with her own Romeo, Raam, Ranjha all rolled into one. When her brother got busy throwing Ji out, she slipped out through the back door of her big ancestral home to meet him at the nearest intersection.

As luck would have it, she did meet him. Ji looked at her with a broad smile. He still liked her. Haayy!!

Ji "Jaan, your brother will kill you. Do not sneak out for my sake."

It was the first time he had addressed her.

Jaan "Don't worry Ji, I will make sure you will get what you want."

Ji kept smiling.

Jaan "You will get all the money to clear off your dues. Will you marry me then?"

Ji "Of course Jaan. I love you."

She placed a hand on her chest.

Jaan "Then wait in this town guest house. I will get you all the money you need. Then you can walk in proudly into our home again and announce you will marry me and you don't need the money. My brother will be impressed."

Ji nodded in all seriousness.

So dear ghosts who read this from behind my back while I am writing the same, must be thinking; what the f**k! How can she be so stupid. This man is going to cheat her. Well that is life for you.

Piece of trivia. I like to take on popular serials and movies. Create my own medley or remix of a story. For I do not believe in happy endings. I am declaring my sources right here because tomorrow I must not become a victim of plagiarism just because I happened to rip off stories from basically everywhere.

This story shall be called 'Seetha hui paison ki pyaari'. Note that it is not Geetha, but Seetha. How much fun hai na. When Seetha becomes Geetha, kind of like an alter personality when money is in question?

I like Geet! ( It's not safe to write such things in here actually! I might hate her someday!😆 )

I liked Brij too...in this update and in the one of the previous updates, I strongly disliked him! 😆

I like the Geet Frank diary which is written in third person...I guess everyone needs some or the other place where they can be as lame as they want. 😎
Seetha hui paiso se pyaari ki protagonist Seetha ji instantly fell in love with her Ji's toes.😳 (Actually Very symbolic it is...she is excited about her toe-ring which means excited about her marriage!😳)
Seetha hui paiso se pyaari story is going to have so many deepest meanings and symbolism! 😳

~Edit~
Yes, I enjoying it...1.It's making me ROFL! 😆
2. I like Geet and her diary 3. It has Maan, the head architect. ! ☺️

This story has Geet, Maan, Geet Frank's diary, Barfi's love story and not to forget Seetha hui paiso se pyaari which is a rival show of Geet HSP...they both fight in the TRP race and both are babies of 400 lions production house. It's about a girl names Seetha who is a deeply in love with her Ji 😳 who is in love with money. It's basically a triangle love story! 😊
