Hi everyone, I don't remember telling you all this, but this is supposed to take a similar turn as in the serial from a while back. I hope you all enjoy it. It all happens so quick, but that's what I was aiming for. RK and his quick, life-changing decisions which he'll regret in the end.
Chapter Five – The Tray
I had left her pondering about how she would "see me soon". It made me pleased to know she was undoubtedly still puzzled, especially since she had me puzzled for days.
I got her number from Bittuji.
I called her; her bell-like voice rang through the phone and through my ears.
"Hello?"
"Madhubala!"
"Who is this?"
"You've talked to me before and you still don't recognize my voice?"
"You. How'd you get my number?"
"Well, let's just say that I have people who know people wh…"
"Doesn't this seem kind of stalker-ish to you?"
Well of course it was stalker-ish. But all I desired was for her to adore me as a fan.
Well, honestly, I didn't want her to adore me as a fan. I enjoyed how she was distinctive; if she became similar to one of those normal girl fans…the attraction I held towards her would definitely vanish.
"Well, in that case, stalker at your service."
"I never asked for a stalker. Seriously, if I start to like you as everyone else, will you just leave me alone."
"I can't promise you that, but yes, that's all I'd like."
"Then for me to honestly like you…"
"Come over to my place tomorrow by noon, I'll show you what I'm really like."
"Alright Mr. Stalker, I'll be there."
"Mr. Stalker…I like it."
She hung up before I could even say bye. But that didn't bother me much. I was quite amused at the fact that it didn't take much energy to get her to agree to the beginning of my plan.
I remember thinking about driving past her and watching her confused expression in my rearview mirror.
She didn't quite understand the "make you get to know me" dialogue I had said. That of course, was a good thing. "I'll make you get to know me," had so much more meaning behind it than she had initially probably thought.
It's after this point that I turned to show my evil characteristics. Before you all hate me, I need you to understand that it was Madhu who instigated me. She asked for it. She got it.
Got what? Well…
The next day Madhu stood at the door of my mansion. Dressed in her typical plain Indian suit, she walked in slowly as she saw me.
"Ah, Madhubala, welcome back."
She grimaced, as if my voice caused her pain. That unusually pleased me.
"Come, no need to stand by the door."
I walked up to her and grabbed her arm. She looked up at me in shock and pain.
"Let me go!"
I didn't attend to her demands. Instead, I pulled her to the couch.
"Sit."
I released her arm but she didn't move. She stood there glowering at me with her big brown eyes.
"I said sit."
"I'm leaving. If this is what you're really like, then there's no way I'll ever become your fan."
"Well Madhubala, that's the point. I'm going to force you to become my fan."
"How are you going…"
"Well, what wife wouldn't want to be a fan of her husband?"
"What? I think you're crazy Mr. Kundra. I'm leaving."
I was crazy. I was crazy due to her. She left me no other choice.
I called for my maid as I grabbed her arm and tightened my grip.
"LET ME GO!"
I remember that being the first time she really yelled at me with all the breath in her lungs. I had smirked at her as her eyes began to get watery.
"What are you doing?! You're crazy. Please let me go."
I didn't listen.
I wish I had. I wish I'd let her go that day. I wouldn't be in so much pain now if only I had listened to her…
Patil, my maid, came to me with a tray. In the tray was a mini container with sindoor and a mangulsutra. She recognized it. She stopped struggling to get free and froze in spot with her eyes glued to the tray.
"Now tell me, how much do you believe in sindoor Madhubala? Or should I also tie this on you?"
I stared at her but her eyes stayed on the tray. A tear fell from her right eye. She must've regret coming to visit me. Well, who wouldn't? I was about to destroy her life (and mine unknowingly at the same time).
I remember her being in such a trance that she didn't even attempt to run when I released her arm.
I ordered Patil to call the pandit who was waiting on the side.
I never really believed in marriage myself, so I had no idea that I was impacting Madhu's life in such a vast way.
I remember thinking there was no backing out of it now. Hence I continued.
The pandit did what he had to as Madhu stood frozen in place, tears falling from her eyes.
I didn't bother running around in seven circles with her. I didn't need that extra workout.
I simply tied the mangulsutra on her and placed sindoor on her forehead.
Before you all accuse me of being so wicked, at least consider the fact that I let her appear as a married woman.
I could've skipped out on the mangulsutra or the sindoor. I only skipped out on the seven pheres. No biggie, right?
"Welcome to the family, Mrs. Kundra."
I remember saying that to her blank, shocked, hurt face.
I completed what I had to and then left her standing there, frozen. I walked to my room with my usual smirk.
Let me explain my actions for you all.
Marrying her was only supposed to be temporary. It was supposed to make her like me. Yeah, you're all probably thinking that forcefully marrying her will not make her like me. In fact, I know that it'd lead me back to the bottom of her list of people she likes…actually, I wouldn't even make that list. I'd be at the top of the list of people she hates.
Anyways, marrying her meant she lives with me, which meant more exposure to each other. In the end, they say, "more exposure to an individual leads to more of a liking towards them". I had expected that to work. Don't take me wrong. It worked. It worked very well. But on the wrong individual…
