Chapter - 8
For the first time in her life, Gudiya missed her mother. She did love YD and NT very much, they were always there for her, but they were not her mother. She wished her mother was there to console her, to tell her that it was alright to lose her first love, to assure her that her life was not ending there.
Her mother passed away when she was very small. At that time BS and Narayan asked Anupam to bring her to Shimla so that YD and NT can take care of her. She was their top priority. So as a child, she always thought YD and NT were her mothers. She used to boast to her friends that she had two mothers while they had only one. But as she grew up, she ealized that they were not her mothers. They were mothers of Bhuvan and Jawahar, Keshav and Pratap. They were her aunts. Not her mother. It hit her badly but she knew they were trying their best to be her mother. And she appreciated their effort. It made her feel very special, but the emptiness made by her mother's absence, evenif she never knew her properly, was still there. And today it was at its peak.
Gudiya had been crying since morning and finally fell asleep due to fatigue. NT left to prepare some food for her when she gets up. She woke up and found herself alone. That was when thoughts about her mother invaded her mind. She tried to remember something about her mother from her childhood, to hang onto. But nothing came up. Her mother had passed away before she could form memories. ' I am so unfortunate. I have a lot of people in my life who cares for me, yet it feels so incomplete. I neither have my mother nor my love of years.'
Her thoughts turned towards Bhuvan. Its true that he never professed his love. But she felt his actions said it all. She never thought it can be because he considered her as one among the guys. ' I was so silly to believe that. But his parents too wanted me to marry him. And I thought all is well. I never expected such a twist. '
She tried to remember where she went wrong. Maybe she should have proposed to him before he went away. ' He did say that if he hadn't met her, he wouldn't had any problem marrying me.'
She wondered if its still possible to marry him. ' I have known him for years. If he decide something, he never changes his mind. If he says he won't leave that girl, then that's it. Evenif he marry me under pressure, he'll never love me. I wish I had spoken my mind long back.'
More than Bhuvan's rejection, it was this thought that made her depressed. ' Only if I had confessed about my love early…'
She started debating with herself about her options. ' Do I want a loveless marriage where he'll hate me every second ? Or do I want pain for only me and happiness for him ? ' She remembered what she had read about love somewhere.
Love is the condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own.
' His happiness is not with me, but with someone else. But can I bear the pain of losing him ? ' She was not sure if she can do it. And she couldn't ask the others. They were more concerned about her than what could be right in the situation. ' Whom can I ask for guidance? ' she wondered.
That was when she heard a knock on the door.
