Geet had dozed off in the car itself. Aryan carried her into her room and made her lie on the bed. She had a smile on lips yet tear drops at the corner of her eyes! He wiped that lone tear and kissed her forehead!!

Aryan: you are an angel geet… just ask me..and I'll set you free!!!

Meanwhile in Delhi

Dia: namla..dekho…meli flock (=frock)

Namra: chalo chalo packing karo..

Maan came into their room..he was just back from office and heard noises from his princesses room. He peeped in and looked at the cuties trying to get their things ready to leave for Mumbai. He stood there for a while watching them…he smiled and saw dia having troubles in doing her clothes..and even namra. They are sooo small!!!! His eyes filled up…the nanny cannot stay with them 24/7 right!!! Wish he could fill that empty space in their lives!!!

It was almost a week since that night!! Everything was going smooth! Geet was doing great in her job and Aryan in his! Prem was still in Mumbai enjoying with them. They were having dinner when Prem popped the question, "geet…its your birthday 2 days later..we want party!!"

Geet smiled and continued to eat. Roops joined Prem, "yes yes iss baar tho we want something special!!!"

Prem: yes geet… you have always avoided your bday for the past few years but not now!!! Iss baar hum tho party le kar rahenge!!"

Aryan was listening to them quietly and looked at geet! She was just quietly listening to all of them! He realized Prem and Roops were trying to get back 'geet' that's why they are talking about partying on her birthday. He couldn't help going back to the day she was in college 3^rd year and he was still in Delhi to complete his masters.

Flashback

He had gone to meet geet in college and also to get some certificates. And since they had late classes that day.. he got to see a new scene there! His eyes literally popped out. there was geet madam…in all her glory..running from one person to another shouting, "oyeee kal mera bday hain..mujhe wish karna okie!!!"

Ohh god..he felt he;d faint right there! She didn't even bother about her seniors and juniors..she was happily announcing her bday and asking everyone to wish her gift her..bhale hi koi gift kare na kare!!😆 She was jumping around like a little kid excited for her bday…no one would guess she was turning 20!!! Geet saw Aryan and came running to him and shouted, "Aryan..aryan..aryan…kal mera bday hain..tum na..umm han han mujhe 00:00hrs me phone karke wish karna okie!!!!"

He couldn't stop laughing seeing that much excitement in her!

Geet: aur han..if you could gift..that would also be awesum!!!!"

Present

Aryan looked at geet again..she was not at all interested n her bday conversation. He sighed and looked at Prem.

Aryan: umm why don't you guys let geet decide what she wants to do on her bday?

Roops: umm..good idea..but it should better be a good one!!!

Prem turned to geet, "chal bata..tujhe kya karna hain apne bday pe?"

Geet shrugged, "umm..kuch nahi.. I will take a day off!!!"

Roops: what??? Geet…whats happened to you yaar? Tu apna bday nahi celebrate kar rahi???

Aryan: ok ok relax…I'll take you ladies shopping okay!! That's the best gift to a lady I guess…right Prem!"

Prem sighed, "yep right…I think mujhe sanyaas le lena chahiye!!! Paise aur waqt dono bach jaate hain!!!"

Roops glared at him and he shut up. Their nok jhok went on..but geet remained lost. She excused herself in the middle and walked to her room saying she was done and that she was feeling tired!

The three of them looked at each other not able to understand geet's sudden change in mood!

Meanwhile in Delhi

Maan stood in front of his wardrobe..Wondering what to pack and what not to!!!! He ran his hands on his clothes and then opened the other cupboard! His eyes filled up…and his heart ached. It had all Anisha's and his clothing together,.. kept properly…just the way she liked and just the way she had left it last!!! He moved his hand over it…..tears welled down his eyes!

Maan: why did you go away? I really can't see namra and dia struggling so much in such a young age and probably I am the worst father in this world…am not able to take good care of them!!! Waapis aa jao Anisha…please…

He felt down and sat on the floor and placed his head on the bed…cursing himself..cursing his fate!!! Just then dia and namra came running into his room. They saw Maan sitting like that! dia rolled her eyes and poked her tiny index finer in his shoulder. Maan looked up at his two angels and namra wiped huis tears!

Namra; papa aap sad ho?

Maan smiled, "nahi beta..am not sad!!"

Dia: phil why clying?

Namra looked around the room and found his wardrobe open!!!

\namra: aap phir se dress select nahi kar paa rahe ho na? koi na..dia and me will help you! Don't be sad!!

She pulled dia by her hand and dragged her to the wardrobe and stared at it carefully. Maan wondered what these kids are upto!!! And followed them and stood behind them!!!

Namra: umm chalo chalo wo blue wali shirt nikalo papa..

Maan smiled and took out the blue shirt.

Dia: wo… wo…. Gley (grey) tie bhi..

Maan followed her order.

Namra: 2 pair jeans..

Dia: offish wali dless…

Namra: black coat

Dia: white shirt..

Mr Maan Singh khurana actually followed all the orders his darlings threw on him! And by the end of it… his suitcase was full and girls were no where near stopping!

Maan laughed, "arrey poora wardrobe lekar jana hain kya? That's it..my suitcase s full!!!"

Namra had a wide smile on her face, "dekha… ho gaya na!!! aap rona mat papa…"

Dia: yesh yesh don't cly..

He kissed the two and lifted both of them in his arms and carried them to their bedroom.

She shut the door with a bang behind her and leaned back on the door..lost in her thoughts! Her birthday…huh!! Its so meaningless without him!!! She went near the window and sat on the pane…overlooking the garden. She rested her head against the window frame and closed her eyes…feeling the cool night breeze!!! It brought back some memories to her…. very sweet ones… dear to life……sweet memories….

Flashback

It was almost afternoon and geet was lying on her bed, sulking! It was her birthday and madam was totally upset!!! She got what she wanted…people had called her the previous night at 00:00hrs to wish her as she had ordered…but there was one call she had been waiting for…. That one call she never got the entire night! She waited and waited and waited.. but there was no call from his side!!! She thought for a while… he never forgets her bday in fact he is always the 1^st on to wish her..then why not today? Her excitement was dying out. she called him and his number came busy! Strange..even Anisha hadn't called her!! she fell on the bed, probably understanding what must have happened and that night flashed in her mind where she had witnessed the love between Maan and Anisha…the finale night! She looked at the shelf..the trophy still lied there… but probably with a no meaning! That pinched her somewhere inside….but she ignored and slept off! She had been feeling a bit lonely nowadays…. Probably some where she was realizing that Maan was slipping out of her hands! But she didn't mind Maan with Anisha.. he was happy right! And she'll always be with him..no matter what! she could fight her brain so easily..but not her heart!!!

Maan came to her place later around 11:30am bunking his class just because he had realized he missed wishing geet on her bday and she'd be so mad at him!!! And as a punishment..geet had asked him to get her guitar strings that needed replacement and her favorite black forest cake!!! Maan was gone..but she couldn't stop feeling miserable… why did it seem that Maan was slipping away? Why was she feeling this restless without him?

She waited and waited and waited..and slept off eventually. It was around 3 in the afternoon when Anisha came into her room carrying a big fat book in her hands. It was the 2^nd time she was coming to Geet's place..the 1^st time she had come was to drop geet home from college and had met Jasmeet and she really loved her demeanor. She saw geet sleeping peacefully… her hair was open.. and fell on her face. She went and quietly sat beside her and removed the hair from her face….she could see trail of tears on her cheeks… was she crying? She looked so much at peace… Anisha smiled!!!

Anisha: aap jitni masoom dikhti hain geet..utni hi maasoom dil se hain!!!

Suddenly something struck her brain. She went around and entangled the end of her dupatta with geet's hair and pulls her! geet twitched a bit but then again slept off. Anisha giggled and this time..she pulled a bit harder. Geet got up angrily shouting, "Maan..aaj teri khair nahi!!" and she tried to reach for the person who did that!!!

Anisha burst out laughing seeing geet's reaction. Geet rubbed her eyes and opened her eyes wider only to see Anisha in front of her!

Geet: di..aap yahan?

Anisha went around and hugged her, "happy birthday geet…many mnay happy returns of the day..bhagwaan kare..aapko duniya ki saari khushiyan mile.."

Geet hugged her back, "thank you sooo much di….."

Anisha: waise aap itni naraz kyun lag rahi thi Maan par?

Geet made a face and spoke, "ye jo aapka Maan hai na di…. Arrghh he irritates me to hell…pareshaan kar rakha hai mujhe.."

Anisha: hahaha acha..jaise aap kuch nahi karti???

Geet: aap mazak uda rahi ho mera? Ek tho maan idiot ne mujhe aaj wish nahi kiya,…upar se meri punishment poori nahi kar raha hai…aur us gadhe ke chakkar mein aaj meine kuch bhi nahi khaya hain pata hain!"

Anisha; arrey nahi nahi.. hum tho bas aise hi bol rahe the!! Acha… Maan ko chodiye..aaj humare saath chaliye!! Aaj dinner aap humare saath karengi..maa ne aapko aur maan ko bulaya hain ghar par aur hum aapko lene aaye hain..

Geet got super excited, 'oh my god..this will be the 1st time am goingto your place di…."

Anisha: yes..now please get ready… we'll be leaving after half an hour! And this is your bday treat from us!

Geet's eyes fell on the huge book Anisha was carrying with her. she picked up the book and looked at Anisha and then at the book as if it was some 8^th wonder of the world!!

Geet: ye kya hain??

Anisha: book hain geet….ye aapko bhi pata hain!!!

Geet; no..i mean… its title di..'PARINEETA..'..kitna ajeeb naam hain!!!

Anisha laughed, "ajeeb nahi..indian name hain! it's the English translated version of Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay's most famous Bengali novel Parineeta!"

Geet: parineeta… aarey haan..iske upar ek movie bhi thi na… mujhe tho naam hi samajh mein nahi aaya..tho meine movie dekhi bhi nahi!!! By the way..what does that mean di?

That brought a smile on Anisha's face. She had been an avid reader and she loved classics and her thoughts were so channelized.

"geet PARINEETA ka matlab hota hai EK doosre ke sath parinay karna"

Geet rolled her eyes, "di…now what does 'parinay' mean?"

"parinay ka simple meaning hai marriage yani shaadi . Ek doosre se shaadi karna geet .Par geet maloom parineeta ka asli arth kya hai .,vivah ke bandhan mein bandhana ,ek doosre ka saath nibhana ,saath janamo ke rishta se bhi upar hai . humare anusaar do atmaon ka milan hai parineeta , do roohuon ka samlagn jahan pyar, ishq ,mohabbat jaise shabdon ki bhi bandishen na ho.."

Geet looked at Anisha..awed by her choice of words….the way her eyes twinkled while she said 'parineeta'… it touched her…the glow on Anisha's face made her realize may be this word has a meaning way deeper that what Anisha was saying….

"pyaar..ishq..mohabbat jaise shabdon ki bandihein na ho.." she repeated under her breath.. that just got etched in her heart!!! It felt so beautiful…..probably devine!!!!

"ek aisa parinay jahan ek doosre se koi khwaish hi nahi ho, aap unse sirf selfless pyar kare . Woh aisa pyar hai jahan koi bhi bandhishon ka mohtaj na ho , jahan pyar shabd bhi apne aap se pyar kare . ek doosri ke aankhon mein us ek pyar ki zhalak dekh kar hi aapko pighla de aur aap ke hone ka ehsaas dilaye .Use sahi mayno mein parinay kehthe hai .

geet stood numb…. Anisha's words sent jitters down her spine..

"pyaar bhi apne aap se pyaar kare…parineeta…" is this even possible..she wondered!!! Does such kind of thing even exists in this world??

Present

"pyaar..ishq..mohabbat ki koi bandishein na ho.." she smiled as tears rolled down her eyes!!!! She missed him… she wanted to see him..bas ek baar…. Ek baar ussey baat kare..she wanted to see if he was alright… but then one question popped into her mind.. does he even need geet anymore? Her bday was so meaningless… there was no Maan to celebrate… there was no Maan to irritate her… there was no Maan wo take her breath away…there was no Maan jiske upar wo apna haq jata sake… and probably this is why there was no 'geet' either!!!

Dadima, dia and namra waited in the car…all angry. It was already time to leave and sir was taking so long!! After 5 mins the three of them saw him walking towards them..busy in a call. He got into the car and gestured the driver to drive them towards the airport!!!!

Dia and namra were super excited! They were going out like this probably for the 1^st time… and Dadima had her own plans too. She had her contacts and she'll be using all of them to find a girl for Maan… who should be able to fill the void in the kids' lives and as well as Maan!!!

She was lost in her plans all the way..dia and namra were asleep and Maan was continuously looking into files!!! All of them had their own plans..but least did they know that destiny had already played her card!
