PART 39 - In Vrindavan,...
Radhika,Dev,Asmi and Shankar was in car, they started early at 4:00 in morning so that they can reach to Vrindavan by time to see all arrangements done. R.P didn't let Shankar go... but Radhika only supported Shankar to leave along with them so that hhe can spend some good time in hsi house which he need very much. Dev was driving and Radhika in passenger seat, while asmi and Shankar were sittign back.
Asmi:Radhu I heard Daksh uncle is also coming.
Radhika:Haan not only Daksh uncle almost the parents of all our friends are cooming.
Shankar:lekin sab log rahenge kaha
Dev:Don't worry uncle, its a well used thing to us, generally every summer, the two hosues will be filled wiht guests like this all the parents of friends will come and stay here for atleast ten days, so we friends are accustomed to share rooms instead of havign single rooms and that way the rooms will adjust, two buildings are there na. and also Daksh uncle too got a house in Vrindavan this year, so the problem will eb reduced.
Shankar:Haan.. humaarein bach pan mein bhi aise hi hota hain sab log ghar aatein hain aur maa, ammaji, aur Sharada aunty toh sab ka kitna khyaal rakhte hain. Bhabhi aur Vaishali didi aane ke baad wo log bhi, kabhi kabhi gayathri bhi..
Shankars voice was trailed off and he stopped the conversation and started to look out..
Radhika looked at asmi who moved her eyes, assuring Radhika and said to Shankar "Uncle, Maan bhaiyya humaare liye choclates toh la rahe hain na"
Shankar:Haan haan... warna tum donom saithan chodofe vusko, I think Geet did the shopping of choclates and all...
Radhika:Hum sabko na, armesh,arshad,sony, pia, manoj, rickie,ria,varun, aanchal, eswar, nickie,indeed vivek and mrinu didi hum sabko bhi choclates bahut pasand hain. Jab main aarahi hun na, mere meeting ke baad, maine kuch choclates laya tha, mere aur asmi ke liye, I mean I don't kow i will come back to ehre, so I brought chocaltes only for us two, but ye sab log jo aagaye na, saarein choclates, ek din mein khatam ho gaya.
Dev was now pinching Radhika's ear said "Acha bachu... jab main choclates laya tha, jyaada ksine khaya, tum aur asmi ne abhi ke saath baithkar, mera saara choclates khatam kar diya tha. Main finally jaakein armesh ke saath jo choclates hain vusko khaya.
Radhika:waah waah... badi aaya ... tum ne kya kaha, tum 15 days mein laut kar jaaoge, toh hum ne socha ki, tum jaane waale hi hain jo, is liye hum ne khaya lekin kisko pata ki, tum yaha permanently rehne ke liye aagaya.
Dev: I tried to give some surprise.
Radhika looked at Asmi and asmi winked ...
Asmi asked :Kisko surprise dene , Dev/
Dev: Wo... he remembered shankar was there so he said "Wo... aur kisko, Mom-dad ko"
Asmi:oh...
Shankar smiled at their conversations he thhought t himself "These people na, still they behave like children, they truly know how to enjoy their life. If ever Maan was brought up here, may eb he too would be smiling like this always . but now."
Radhika looked at Shankar from rear mirror, after living with him for all these days she can say what her dad might be thinkign so she said out "Baavuji! aaj se dekhiye, Maan bhaiyya bhi bilkul humaari tarah honeg. Kya karein, agar kisi ne humaarein saath raha toh, vusko bhi hum humaari tarah bandar banadenge"
Shankar smiled and said "All the best radhika"
Radhika blinked and said "Thank u "
Shankar asked them " Dev aren't u sleepy, u did go late to bed yesterday. Aren't u sleepy. "
Dev was about to answer when Asmi only answered "Uncle, ye jo Radhika aur Dev hain na, ye donom night crawlers hain. Ye log raat mein sabse late sothe hain, aur subah sabse jaldi vuthte hain, in donom ka waise hi aadat hain subah subah vuth ne ka. "
Shankar:But its only 4:00 asmi.
Asmi:Haan uncle, if ever we are in Vrindavan these two will leave to temple and will prepare for aarthi there for which they will leave from house by 4:30. If ever in Delhi they will wake up early and prepare for aarthi in house and later play in garden.
Dev:Haan uncle, actually pehle mara bhi aadat nahi hain, ekin paanch saal se banaya tha, actually mera kisi best friend ne, mujhe ye aadat banane ke liye kaha tha, aur maine ye aadat banaya tha.
Asmi started to cough and Shankar looked at Asmi confused...
Radhika:Koi problem nahi hain baavuji , kabhi kabhi asmi ko aisa cough aata hain.
Shankar:But she didn't have this before.
Radhika:Haan baavuji, recently ho gaya hain ye aadat, isko.
Shankar:Oh...
Radhika glared at Asmi and asmi winked.

Car stopped infront of Sharma nivas in Vrindavan...
Radhika came out and rushed into the house , she went in and started to roam aorund the house which she was missing from thre motnhs, then she remembered of Shankar...
She immediately went into the kitchen as already instructed by her Ramu kaka, prepared the aarthi thali and kept there, Radhika took it and came out..
Shankar was still helping Dev in unloading the thigns , Radhika waited for him patiently ...She can notice form there, though he was helping Dev he had all hsi eyes on building only, he even had tears in his eyes.
Radhika smiled and signalled to asmi. Asmi smiled and went to Shankar and said "Uncle, aap aayiye na, aaki ghar main nahi aavoge."
Dev:Uncle sorry, I forgot, U please go in. I can manage.
ShankaR:No need for sorry dear, I was helping on my own, but haan after 25 years I am coming here na so was a bit more emotional.
Dev:I know uncle, aap please andar jaayiye.
Shankar smiled and was coming in, Radhika stopped him at door. Shankar frowned not knowing ehy Radhika did stopped him . Radhika smiled and said "Dad, u are coming inot ur house after these many days, how can we let u in with out aarthi. that's why I topped u. One minute. " she brought the aarthi and circled it around him three times and put tikka on him and let him in saying "Finally today, the last wish of Mohan baavuji and Daaima was completed. I am happy today. "
Shankar looked at Radhika frowning "Radhu, last wish of Daaima. "
Radhika:Haan Dad, , the last day of her life, when she was breathing her last she said me some thigns which are her last wishes, she said all, but when she was sayign some thing "Shan.. shan..Shankar" she held her last breath. I didn't understand it then, btu today I understood it. Daaima always used to think of some thign and was like missing some one, I didn't got it then, btu now i udnerstand eveyr thing, she missed u a lto and wanted u to come to the home back. May be if ever I was right, she dd searched for u too, but for the bad luck u were not there in India.
Shankar had moist in his eyes, he sat there in sofa as if he was shcoked..
Radhika didn't understand she didn't only see shock in his eyes, but also a bit pain and also soe feel like he did a wrong. Radhika ben to him and asked "Baavuji, kya hua. Lag raha ki aap apne aapko kisi baat ki doshi maan rahe hain."
Shankar though was shaken a lot, had cntrol on hsi voice and he said " Radhika, how can't be a son Wrong when he did present near his mothers death body but wasn't able to do the last rites of her funeral"
Radhika was shcoked "U are there that day"
Shankar: Haan I am there, as soon as I got the news I came there, and I was there for whole day, but I hide from R.P family so that they won't recognise me, I felt a lot bad that day and cried a lto that I wasn't able to do the funeral of my other but, I was frightened, I was frightened, that will her soul accept it, if ever I do her funeral. But I forgot that I am her favourite son .
Shankar had tears in his eyes, Radhika too got tears but she rubbed them off and said " Baavuji... U knwo what, The ashes of Daaima were not mixed in Yamuna devi, Papa insisted that it had to eb done later. May be he was waiting for u to come and take ur right. So Daaima's soul will get peace after u did that right on the coming death anniversary of her. "
Shankar nodded blankly sayign "Raj bhai, already discussed wiht me. Any way lets leave this thing for here, u people start to do arrange ments, I will sit here for some time, I need some lone time. "
Radhika and asmi nodded and Asmi said "Take care uncle"
Shankar nodded and they left..
Shankar stood up and went near the dining area, nothign was changed it was still the same... Shankar moved around reminiscing his childhood, his mother running around the house to make him eat his food, his father makign him learn how to walk makign him stand on that table and all... He smield and moved to garden area, though there were soem new plants, the old trees suhc as Neem, lemon, guava were still there. Shankar went to the lemon tree at rear end of building and touched it gently... it was the tree planted by him and Mohan collectively when he was 6 years old... He got remembrance of some thign and searched down at the starting of trunk th name was still there but was faint, he ran his hands through the carving done by him.."Mohan,Shankar, Mamma,Papa"
Shankar smiled and came in he went up...
"Though there was a change in the way of furniture the rooms were still same. He went to hsi room and had the door of his room locked. He didn't understadn and even found the lock was rusted too. Frowning he looked for servant he didn't find them, he tried to open it but didn't. He hoped atleast Radhika would have been there...
Shankar saw Dev coming in smiling and he smield to him. Dev came to him and etended his hand to Shankar. Shankar looked down and saw the key in his hand...
Shankar:Dev, this key...
Dev: Daadima gave the key to me, she know u will search for it, so she said me to give it to u.
Shankar smiled and said "Sharada aunty bhi na, humesha wo hi mera bahut acha khyaal rakhti hain, she knwos what I need. "
Dev nodded and said " Sheetal daaima gave this key to dadima."
Shankar looked at Dev shocked... Dev nodded and asked him "Uncle apne room ka door toh open kariye na"
Shankar nodded and he removed the lock though it was rusted, the lock cme easily, means some one was gettign this room open regularly...
Dev said " Every month Dadima coems here and get this room cleaned."
Shankar nodded and went in.. he onned the light and looked at room, the room was exactly in the way how he left it, the only change was there was a big photo of him and Gayathri at the bed side wall, instead of himself alone.
Dev :Thsi photo was got by Mohan uncle and he hung it here. this is what Dadima told me.
Shankar had tears in his eyes and smile on hsi lips. He moved around and touched evey part of the room, he stopped at the family photo whh was taken during marriage of Mohan that was hund on the wall, it had both Sharma family and Purohith family . Vaishali was holding one year old Vivek in her arms. His father, sharma ji was smiling whole heartedly, which was very rare to see from him. He ran is hand across the face of his father, mother and brother.Today he lost all of them... he was standing like a stranger in his very house.
Shankar turned to DDev and said "Dev , u leave, u can do ur work., I am fine"
Dev:Uncle will u be okay.
Shankar:Don't worry Dev, my heart is not that weak, it became a stone when Gayathri died, that's why only it did survive the death of his family and indeed his daughter...
Shankar stopped..
Dev said :I know uncle, don't worry, Radhika said me every thing. She said me what happened with her and with u and every thing. I promise I won't disclose it to any oen unless Radhiak agree me to.
Shankar cupped Dev's face and said 'Raj bro is really lucky Dev. He did have a son like u "
Dev smiled and said :Acha uncle jaldi eeche aayiye, almost all the arrnagements are over, might be all are arriving too. aap bhi jaldi naha ke neeche aayiye. (Uncle come down son, almost all arrangements are over and all might be coming too, u too bathe and come down)
Shankar:Haan Dev I will ...
Dev went out and Shankar sat there in hsi room looking at out side from the window, some one knocked the door and he looked there to see Ramu standing there with a glass of juice.
Shankar smield "Ramu bhai, aap .."
Ramu:Ji chote malik, aapko dekhke bahut kushi ho raha hain/ Sach mein aaj iss ghar ki rnat waapas aagayi. (I am really happy to see u. the house got its life back again today)
Shankar smiled and looked at family photo.
Ramu:Sach malik, sab log ghujarne ke baad, Radhika betiyan ko bhi Mrinalini beti ke yaha jaana pada, lekin vo har haftah yaha aati rehti hain, lekin teen mahine se wo nahi aayi toh, ghar ki poori ronat gayi han, aaj vo phir se waapas aagayi, aur aap bhi aagaye, main kitna kush ho. main aapko bata nahi sakhte.."(After every one passed away, Radhika betiyaan happened to go to Mrinalini's in laws place in Delhi. But she used to come every week, but from three months she didn't come and the whole house became life less, Now she came and u too came it feels like the ouse got its life back again)
Shankar: Haan bhai, aaj main bhi bahut kush ho... aap jaante hain aaj mera beta aur bahu bhi yaha aane waala hain. Mera beta pehli baar vuske papake ghar mein aane wala hain. (I am truly hapy. U know my son and daughter in law are also coming. My son is coming to hsi dad's house for first time)
Ramu:Haan malik, Radhika betiyan ne mujhe bataya, suna ki aapki ek bahut kaarobaar han sehar mein aur videsh mein. Baht kush hua. Aapki beta ko dekhne ka bahut man kar raha hain, wo bhi bilkul humaarein bade malik ki tarah honge, shayad. (Haan sir, Radhika betiyaan told me, u had a big industry in city and foreign. I was very happy to hear this. Wanna see ur son, hope he was also like ur father..)
Shankar smield and said "Kabhi kabhi vusko bhartav bhi bil kul baavuji ki tarah hoti hain. haan jo aapne expect kiya wo sahi hi hain. " (Yeah he some times behave like dad...)
Ramu:main toh bhul hi gaya malik... Sab log aane wala hain, (I forgot to say, every one is gonna come)
Shankar;Hum neeche aayenge. (I will go down)
Ramu:Main chalta haun, bahut kaam hain, aap ye juice peeyiye. (I wil go there's a lot of work)
Shankar smiled and took the juice. he spend some time there and went down.

All the elders were sittign and chatting, Dadima was holdign Shankar near to ehr as if relieveing her becoz she knwo what migh be the condition fo Shankar and what thoughts might be runnign in hsi brain. And all the children were makign arrangements get donw for pooja , thoguh, Radev and Asmi completed mst of the major arrnagements, the minor arrangements, were still let, for which remainign are helping them.
Mrinalini was suervising the preparations of food along with Ammaji,Vishaka and Ramu kaka.
Mrinalini was still angry on Vishaka and she wanted to talk to her but waited for the correct time.
Vishaka:Didi, we can make some thing like chinese item so that all can feel good right.
Mrinalini: Vishaka, this is pooja, and we had to do traditional food, and continental food we eat daily right, lets eat traditional for today. Its the way to get back out traditions and maintain them.,
Ammaji:Nahi mrinalini bitiya...
Mrinalini:Ammaji, Vishaka is young, if she talk theres some meaning but u are elder right, and u know how sincere will dadima and papaji take this pooja events and also Shankar baavuji is also there... Maan-Geet are also coming.
Vishaka:Maan koun hain.
AMmaji:He was the son of ur Shankar chachaji. He was also just like his father, a great guy.
Vishaka: Oh...
Mrinalini:Haan, Vo aarahe hain aur is liye Radhika aur excited hain, vusne abhi tak ek bhi pooja aise pooja ko nahi dekha tha aur vo pehli baar Vrindavan aaraha hain is liye(Yeah, they are coming and so Radhika was excited becoz, they never saw a hawan like this and also its their firsst visit to vrindavan).
Vishaka:Oh... pehli baar... good good.
Mrinalini get some thing wrong from Vishaka so she decided not to take risk.
Mrinalini:Vishu, tum jaao, aur jakar kuch samay aaram kardo, ammaji aap bhi.(Ammaji and Vishu, go and take rest for some time)
Vishaka:Lekin didi, I will help u na.
Mrinalini:Maine kaha na, koi jaroorat nahi, waise bhi kaam toh ho gaya, bas kuch choti choti kaamein bakhi hain. (I said no need. any way the work completed. only some small things left)
Ammaji:Thik hain betiyan. (Fine then)
Mrinalini:Haan Vishaka, jakar, ek baar Radhika ko yaha aane ke liye bol do,(call Radhika dear)
Vishaka nodded her head and went out.
Mrinalini gave a sigh of relief and was cutting vegetables.
Radhika was keeping the fruits plate there, when Varun came and sprinkled some water on her.
Radhika:Varun , ye kya kar rahi ho,
Manoj;Nahi radhu, tum toh itna busy ho, humein kuch kaam karne bhi nahi de rahe hain, toh humne socha ki, agar tum andar jaaogi toh, hum bhi thoda sa kaam karenge
Vishaka: Radhika!
Radhika who was smiling became serious as she heard her voice.
Vishaka:Mrinalini didi was calling u into kitchen.
Radhika nodded and Vishaka left in saying "I should get ready"
Radhika turned to Varun and said :Now happy, u people only do but please kuch gadbad mat karna,
Varun:Haan don't worry/
Radhika smiled and left in...
Mrinalini: Acha hua tum aagayi, mera madad kardo (Good u came, help me)
Radhika:Haan di jaroor, lekin Vishaka teri madad kar rahi hain na. (But vishaka is helping u na)
Mrinalini; She was behaving in different way so I thought better to send her off and so called u for help.
Radhika: Acha kiya, ye toh pooja ka khana hain, Pandit ji ko khilane Khana mein, kuch bhi ghad bad nahi honi chahiye, kaha tak hua didi kaam, (yeah this is the food for pooja, nothing mistake should be done. upto where did work completed di)
Mrinalini:Kaha hain yaar, bas chaal aur poori banana khatam ho gaya, bakhi sab waisa hi pade the. (Only rice and poori completed. remaining every thing was like that only)
Radhika: Well, for pandit ji we should prepare food with out masala, so we will do one thing as we are planning to do same menu, we will take them some food seperately, before adding masala. what say.
Mrinalini:Yes good idea and that thing u see I will deal with those curries which doesn't need to add any Masala item.
Radhika:Haan...
Radhika and Mrinalini were into work...

At 8:00...
Abhi came into kitchen and dragged Radhika's dress. Radhika bent down saying "Kya hua Abhi dada"(What happened abhi)_
Abhi: Maan uncle hain na, wo aaraha hain, is liye, dadima mujhe aap donom ko batane ke liye bheja. (Maan uncle is coming. Daadima asked me to tell u both)
Mrinalii:Maan aane wala hain... thik hain, Radhika main jaa rahi hun, tum bhi jaldi aao na. (Maan is coming. fine... I am going Radhika ... U too come soon )
Radhika:Ddidi,main bhaiyya se baad mein baat karunig, aap jayiye na. itna kaam jo pada hain. (I will talk wiht bro later, U go. we had much work here na)
Mrinalini:Thik hain, aarth ki plate kaha hain. (Where's aarthi plate)
Radhika:I gave it to Maa.
Mrinalini:Fine then. Shal I send Asmi ...
Radhika:No no, she was more attatched to Maan bro, let her be, I will do it on my own.
Mrinalii:haan bas abhi vus daal mein thoda sa paani dalo aur vuske baad I think u had soem 15 minutes work right. After that come down changing ur dress,
Radhika:haan di, I will bath and come.
Mrinalini:Thik hain.
Mrinalini went off and Radhika stood there. " Kanha, please help me in hiding from Rohan bhaiyya."
Radhika was holding her pendant

Out side...
Birju got the car stopped infront fo Sharma nivas, Maan and Geet came down.
Maan looked at Shakar who was standing otu and smiled, he looked into the car and said to Rohan to come out.
Rohan nodded and came out takign of his goggles. Dev who came front to hug Maan stopped as he saw Rohan, he then thought to himself " May be he was Rohan"
Maan said "Hi" to Dev and said "Dev, He's Rohan. my best friend and indeed was like my brother. "
Geet smiled and asked Dev in a whsihper "Did Radhika said to u ?"
Dev nodded and Geet smiled.
Dev:Andar aao na bhaiyya. yahi hain aapki papa ka ghar. (Come in bro, this is only ur dad's house
Maan smiled. As he came in there was a Mandap like thing at one side of house and there were some arrangements for Havan there. Geet asked Dev "Dev, aaj kuch havan hain kya"
Dev:Haan, wo Dadima discharge ho gayi aur, Shankar uncle itne din baad yaha aaya tha na, is liye kushi mein Papa ne ek havan organise kiya tha. (Yeah We had some gud news like, Dadima's discharge and Shankar uncles arrival na... so Papa organised this hawan)
Maan nodded.
Dev was looking at Rohan he was so silent and was lost some where, he wasn't observing anything, his eyes were looking out into the blank space. Dev thought to himself "This man did really miss his love." But there was some thing which Dev can't figure out. some thing different.
Birju and Varun brought the luggage in side and maaneet were welcomed by an aarthi inot house, indeed mrinalini gave them the Arthi. R.P noticed Rohan and asked abt him, Shankar said "Rohan was best friend of Maan, and he came here along with Maan"
R.p didn't get the answer properly, but he remained silent seeign that guy lost some where.
Mrinalini circled the aarthi plate around Rohan too and was about to keep tikkka, but Rohan didn't move forward. Geeet touched Rohan saying "Rohan"
Rohan as if hecame out from soem trace :Haan didi,
Mrinalini:Aarthi ka tikka.
Rohan:Oh... I am sorry, he bent his head down and Mrinalini kept the tikka and let them in.
Maan:Rohan , This was Mrinalini didi, my cousin, and he was Vivek Mrinalini's husband.
Rohan did a namastey to them, Geet looked at Dadima and said "Dadima , aap ka tabiyat kaise hain"(How are u dadima)
Dadima:Main bilkul thik hun beta,(I am fine)
Geet:Rohan she is grandmother of Vivek and the best friend of Maan's grand mother, they reside in our next house here, and both the families were buisness partners. Rohan nodded and bend to touch her feet, even Dadima was disturbed to see this person lost some where. Geet introduced R.P couple and later, Dev. Dev smiled to Rohan and hugged him "Welcome to our family. U will feel home for sure. "
Rohan didn't say any thing he just smiled and Geet introduced him to Shalini who did a namastey smiling and Rohan too smiled.
Dev:Maan bhaiyya, pooja toh shuru hi hone wala hain, bas aapki aur di ka intezaar hain, agar aap donom bhi tayar ho kar aagaye toh. (Pooja is gonna start, waiting for u and Geet di. go and get ready)
Maan:Dev, hawan mein...
Mrinalini:Ji haan, aaj hawan mein aap hi baithoge, Geet, Maan jaldi jaakar tayar ho jayiye. (Today u people only will sit in hawan, Geet and Maan, go and get ready soon )
Geet:Rohan...
Dev:I will take care of him okay.
Maan nodded .
Dev said "Rohan, we had hawan here today, will u join us too."
Rohan:Ji... wo...
Shankar:Rohan was tired, actually his health was bad too, so can we let him take rest.
R.P:Thika hain, Dev isko iska kamara dikha do, aur Radhika se pooch kar, kuch arrangements karna hain toh kar do. (Show him his room and tell Radhika to get some arrangements done)
Dev:Whats need of Radhika, I can manage myself right,...
Vaishali: Haan bachu, u can manage, but he's our guest and we can't leave him in a dumping room right, so say to Radhika to do the arrangements.
Every one laughed there and Dev said "No way, I am not that bad , I only will do the best arrangements to him.Common Rohan, I already got ur room done, I will show u "
Rohan went up along with Dev silently...
Dadima looked at that person and went to Shankar... "Shankar beta, vus ladka, vo itna vudaas kyun hain."(Why that guy was so sad...)
Shankar: Aunty, he's my would be son-in-law. He loved my elder daughter to the core, but when she died in accident , he was depressed a lot. and the reason for Maan to go to U.S was he attempted a suicide out of frustation... and we thought of bringing him here so that the climate change can make him a bit better.
Vaishali: But bhai saab, u said Chudki was the exact mirror image of ur elder daughter Imarti right, then why don't u get her married to him. He was looking like a good guy.
Maan and Geet looked at each other and Maan said "nahi nahi Maami ji, aisa nahi.. Chudki won't even dare to come infront of him so that she can stop him from remembering Imarti by seeing her face. Now in that situation how will she accept to marry Rohan. She will never think to take her sisters place. "
Shankar glared at Maan who gave him back a stern look and said " Iss baar, main chudki se is vishay pe poochne wali hun, Vaihsali didi(I am going to ask Chudki abt this ) . We has to see, and indeed I should make Rohan accept too.
Shastri ji came there and said "Sharada Ji, pooja ka samay ho raha hain, if u all come to the Pooja mandap..."
Dadima said "ji, we are coming, bas, the couple who will do pooja should come down, they will come down in five minutes."
Shastri ji nodded and they all headed towards the pooja place.
Mrinalini said "Chalo maan and Geet , I will show u ur room. Come down quick "
Maaneet nodded and they followed Mrinalini.

Maan and Geet came down and Maan looked for Rohan...
Maan went to Shankar adn asked "dad, wheres Rohan"
Shankar:I only send him up to take rest so that atleast, we can let Radhika attend the hawan
Maan:Wo bhi hain Dad, bichari radhika... she will be suffering, better we should have been in Delhi.
