Chapter 6: Magic Class

"Good afternoon everybody! I hope your day has been going well," RDX said to his student witches as they approached him by the entrance to the college. "Now before we leave--"

"Sorry I'm late, RDX!" Sharon exclaimed as she rushed to the entrance.

RDX nodded. "This is the second time this week, Sharon. One more time and you'll find yourself cleaning the Mansion--without magic."

Sharon nodded. Kriya turned to Swayam, who was standing next to her, and whispered, "What mansion?"

"It's basically our sanctuary. We learn and practice magic there and we also can go there just to hang out and use our magic without any fear," Swayam replied.

Kriya nodded in understanding, looking back to the teacher. All of a sudden, she felt freezing cold water hit her arm and she let out a small yelp in surprise. "What the hell?" She turned around to find Nilesh and Vicky snickering behind her. She gave them a glare that could possibly have killed them.

"We haven't even left for the Mansion yet and you guys are already pranking each other?" RDX said, frustrated.

"Sorry, sir," Vicky and Nilesh replied, trying hard to not continue snickering.

RDX shock his head in disapproval. "Anyway, as I was saying, I'd like to give a warm welcome to Kriya, our new classmate and hope you will all treat her nicely." Though he really hoped they would all be nice to each other, he knew that wasn't happening. RDX could already see that Kriya had joined the Weaklings and from the prank that the Dazzlers just pulled, he saw that things were going to get a little crazy with a new Weakling. "All right, let's go."

The drive to Mansion was probably one of the more awkward things Kriya had experienced. It started out loud, everyone making fun of each other and pulling pranks. But then it just got weird when in all the 'fun and games' Vicky made a pole of one the seats break on the bus, making Neha slip right off her seat. He quickly went to Neha and asked her if she was okay, which made everyone on the bus stare at him in surprise and shock including Neha). He quietly went back to his seat and just played on his phone the rest of the time. As for the others, they just talked quietly to each other until they got the Mansion.

The Mansion was a large, worn out, abandoned mansion on the quieter side of Mumbai. At first glance Kriya decided she would never want to come here alone (even with her amazing powers) because the whole place just looked really creepy and scary. Kriya wouldn't be surprised if it was haunted.

All the Dazzlers and Weaklings filed into the Mansion, Kriya being the last one to go in. As she as went inside, her mouth dropped to the floor. RDX smiled at her expression. "That never gets old."

"How--?"

"It's a spell. I had the Studio built a couple years ago and to disguise it I made it look like an abandoned mansion so that people would stay out."

Kriya looked around the place, impressed. On the right side there were French doors that led to a classroom and on the left there were identical French doors that led to a large library full of books on magic. There was a huge staircase across the door on either side of the mansion that led to a giant hang out area for all the Weaklings and Dazzlers. And in the middle of the Mansion lay a giant stage where all the witches practiced their magic.

"This is fantastic," Kriya said.

"Okay everyone, gather around the stage. Today we're going to be working with fire," RDX said, doing little jazz hand motion with his fingers. Everyone shouted in excitement, except for Kriya.

"Fire?" Kriya said nervously.

"Why, are you afraid of fire?" Rey said from beside her.

She looked at angrily as he smirked down at her. "No. If anything, you should be afraid of me blasting you with it somewhere you might not want it, if know what I mean," she said with a quick wink and smirk.

Rey twisted his jaw. "We'll see about that."

"Okay, quiet down. Now, you'll be paired up with someone and you're going to practice shooting fire at them while the other blocks it. To conjure up the fire, you simply have to think about it and say this simple incantation," RDX said, pointing to an incantation that had been written on a chalkboard that he had brought out from the classroom. "Now, I want Vishaka, Neha, Kriya, Amar, Simm, and Nilesh to take a slip from this hat. Whoever you get is your partner.

"Oh, phew, I'm with Swayam," Neha said with a sigh of relief. After she got her slip. "What about you guys?'

"I'm with Bharat..."Vishaka said,

"I'm with Rey..." Kriya said.

"This would happen to us," Vishaka said, throwing up her hands in disbelief.

"Sharon, do me a favor and switch partners with me," Rinni said.

"Why?"

"Because, um, I figured you would feel more comfortable with working with Nilesh rather than that Weakling Amar," Rinni quickly made up.

Sharon gave her a look, wanting so bad to smile because she understood why Rinni wanted to be with Amar. "All right--"

"No switching partners," RDX said, hearing their conversation.

"Ugh!" Rinni groaned loudly. The Dazzler surrounding her looked at her with eyebrows up. "I mean, you're going to have to work with that stupid Weakling."

"Neha, try not to kill me," Swayam said, standing across from Neha.

"Swayam, I'm not going to kill you if you're shielding yourself," Neha replied.

"Yeah, but you're so powerful you'll probably break the shield."

They went back and forth for a little bit, Swayam blocking every powerful burst of fire she sent at him. They took a break after a few minutes. Swayam looked around and saw that Simmi was with Vicky but they were both looking somewhere else. Simmi was looking at Nilesh and Vicky was looking at Neha as she drank some water. On the other hand, Nilesh was practicing with Rinni, who was looking at Amar as Amar practiced with Sharon.

Sharon he thought with a smile. Swayam watched as she threw fire at Amar, thinking how wonderful of a witch she is. All of a sudden, fire hit him hard on his shoulder. "Ow!"

"I said look out!" Neha said, quickly going over to see is wound.

"Well, you could've said we were starting again! Plus it's my turn to shoot fire!" Swayam said in pain.

"It wasn't me! It was Kriya! Look at her Rey go! I swear, she really wants to hurt the guy. Now stay here, I'm gonna go and get the first aid kit. RDX should have started with the first-aid magic unit before the fire unit," Neha said as she got up to get the first aid from the class room.

Swayam looked over at Kriya and Rey, who were jumping around, Kriya throwing fore and Rey blocking every single one, aggressively. "Perfect. My best friend against my other best friend. Just what I needed."

"Come on! My grandma can throw better than that!" Rey provoked Kriya.

Kriya threw more fire at Rey, right at his privates but Rey blocked it. "Fine, then you throw some at me!"

Rey looked down at the place where Kriya almost hit me. "My pleasure!" he yelled back. He threw fire at Kriya, who blocked each one very nicely.

Slowly, the two started to advance towards each other, the fire starting to get more hot. Rey threw another shot of fire at Kriya, and Kriya, trying to block it, tripped on her feet and feel forward right on top of Rey.

Kriya looked into Rey's eyes, embarrassed but liking it. Rey was feeling the same thing. They stayed like that until a ball of fire feel right next to them, startling them. "Sorry!"

"Yeah, yeah, just be careful Nil," Rey said, getting up. He looked at Kriya, who was fixing her shirt and said, "You're not half bad."

"Same too you," Kriya replied simply.

"Okay everyone, you all need to get back to the college! So start piling into the bus, I need to get something from the library," RDX said to the witches.

RDX went into the library as the others left for the bus. He wanted to get Indian History of Magic so he could reread it before he started the history of magic unit next week. As he was looking on the far left shelf, he heard something. He ignored it, thinking nothing of it and found the book.

Just as he was about to turn to leave, he heard the sound again. He walked down the aisle of the books, all the way to the wall where he was surprised to find a large crack in the wall. By then, the sound was louder. He put his ear against the wall, listening. "Kill," he heard in a cold, hoarse whisper.

He jumped away from the wall, freaked. All of a sudden, RDX saw a apir of eyes glowing yellow in the crack. "Oh, no."

"Are you okay, RDX? You look a little...shaken," Amar asked RDX when they were back at the college.

"What? Yeah, yeah, I'm fine. Now, all of you get to class before you're late," RDX replied quickly.

They all gave him one last look at left for class. When he was sure he was alone, RDX took out his cellphone and dialed a number. "Hello? Hi, I'd like to talk to Agent Karan Mallik, please."
