So I read an update of Maya's About Last Night. . . . And started writing this update. . . .
So you might find this similar to her style of writing! *face-palm*
I have to clarify that this was unintentional! And I have to say that is how Maya's writing affects me!! 😳
And a few of you complained that Anjali had been too selfish and she should not have felt jealous!
Well... That is nothing like I had imagined my Anjali to be, and I apologize for making you to perceive her so. . . . . 😳
And I hope this update helps you in understanding her better. . . . . 😳
---Flashback---
She had jumped into his office, like she usually did, and found himself immersed in a thick black folder. She stood next to him, expecting him to pull her to his lap like he had always done, from the past one month that they had romanced. But his shoulders were too stiff, Khushi noticed, and she moved behind his chair to massage his stiff muscles. But he had stood up, and had asked her to sit with a voice so calm, she knew he was angry about something. Something that she might have done! She sat down, planning to apologize about whatever it was, whether it was her fault or not, for she could never see him anything less than happy.
But what he said next, threw all her thoughts away.
He had looked straight into her eyes, as he had said, "So you love Shyam."
Khushi felt her eyes widen with equal amounts of shock and fear. And he had shook his head, as if his doubts had been confirmed with that single action of hers. And then she had seen her Arnav losing the battle to Arnav Singh Raizada, the businessman. No. Arnav had lost the battle to ASR, the cold-hearted (Sometimes doubted to even possess a cold heart!) businessman. He had alleged her time and time again, and all she had been able to do was stare at him with the same expression added with soul-wrenching hurt. He had been able to throw away what was there between them, within a single moment of time! And her too-shocked-to-comprehend-anything brain heard him offer her money, and she blinked to try and listen to what he had to say.
"Oh, don't worry, --- Khushi! The amount I shall pay you would be so obscene, that the gold digger in you would rest in peace! And I shall pay the same amount each month!!" he said, his jaw clenched, eyes cold, challenging her to reject him in anyway. Now, everybody knew that Khushi Kumari Gupta would have done a dance and indulged herself in the task completely, when she got a chance to challenge or irk Arnav Singh Raizada in any possible way. Even when they were together. But right now could definitely not be counted as one of those moments.
She had stood up, too shocked to react in any way, when he had shoved a few papers in her hand and she had left, clinging to the paper that he had just handed her. She had walked around the city in a daze for a while, not knowing what to do and where to go. Nothing mattered anymore. It was like she had to force her heart to beat and her lungs to respire.
Had he wanted her to leave?
Then leave, she would!
She had climbed a random bus, and the conductor had took the right amount of money from the wad of cash that she clutched. He had even handed a bag to her, filling the money and a passbook into it, citing that, it was not safe to carry so much money in hands. He had even helped her down when they had reached their destination. Goa.
And we know what happened after that.

Khushi sighed once again, and looked up to see Anjali staring at her with expectant eyes. She thought about Anjali's question, and realized there was no one last chance here. She smiled sadly as she said, "Can you not see that there is no one last chance?" Anjali gasped in shock, thinking that it indeed was very late for her brother. He had to learn to live in heartbreak, and she felt a cold weight upon her heart, before she smiled sadly too and nodded, as if she understood Khushi's point. "I can understand Khushiji. I will take him with me and leave to Delhi as soon as possible. I don't want us to bother you any more than we already have. But I hope you at least keep in touch with your family and. . . . me too. . . . If you do not mind, that is. Please do know that I would never have let any of this happen had I known about it. . . . You are and always will be like my own younger sister. . . ." Saying so, she had got up, and was about to leave, when she heard Khushi say, "There is no one last chance because I never was mad at him, Di." Anjali stopped in her tracks, her eyes going wide as another realization struck her. Did this mean that there was still a ray of hope for her Chotey?! She turned back, as Khushi continued, "When he sat in his office and threw those baseless allegations at me, I was not angry. I was hurt! Especially when he thought that I could love someone else, other than him. . . . . And that sadness went right away when he came and stood in front of me, asking for my forgiveness. And all that remained were doubts, Di. And fear. Fear that I would hurt myself once more - irreparably, this time - in the process of loving him. And even now, that is the only thing which is stopping me from running into his arms. . . ." Khushi had walked towards Anjali, tears streaming down both their eyes, as she said all this, and by the end, the two women hugged each other, sobbing.

Ajay watched as Arnav got himself drunk. Men have a slightly different way of talking things out, you see. Especially men who are less verbal, like our Arnav Singh Raizada. They intently listened to what Beyonce was crooning through the speakers, applying it into the dynamics of their relationship with a certain woman in their mind.
Hit me like a ray of sun
Burning through my darkest night
You're the only one that I want
Think I'm addicted to your light
I swore I'd never fall again
But this don't even feel like falling
Gravity can't forget
To pull me back to the ground again
Feels like I've been awakened
Every rule I had you breakin'
The risk that I'm takin'
I'm never gonna shut you out
Everywhere I'm looking now
I'm surrounded by your embrace
Baby I can see your halo
You know you're my saving grace
You're everything I need and more
It's written all over your face
Baby I can feel your halo
Pray it won't fade away
I can feel your halo halo halo
I can see your halo halo halo
And by the end of the song, Arnav's eyes were shining with tears, as he said, "I cannot live without her!" Ajay sighed and nodded as he realized that this probably applied to him too, and that made him wonder whether Anjali was safe, and that immediately made him restless. And saw Anjali make way into the hall at exactly that moment. A sigh of relief escaped his lips as he wondered how easily she had made her way into his life too. She smiled when she saw him staring at her, and stopped in her tracks. He excused himself and went to her, his one hand automatically resting on the small of her back, as the other protectively rested on her baby bump. "Khushi is fine, and is ready to leave. Can we leave? I am too tired." Anjali almost murmured, suddenly feeling too fatigued. Ajay again looked at the shadow beneath her eyes, and asked, "Would you hit me if I kiss your eyes right now?" Anjali jerked her head back in surprise and replied, "Here in front of everyone?!" It was a wrong selection of words, and Ajay proved so, much to her embarrassment. "So I would be spared by your attack if I did it in private?" Ajay asked again, in a sleazy voice. Fortunately for her, Anjali was spared the embarrassment to answer that question when her brother chose to intervene. "Di!!" Arnav stumbled and was about to fall on Anjali, when Ajay came in between the two siblings and used his shoulder to stop Arnav falling. Anjali scrunched her nose at the smell of vodka and felt a lurch in her stomach. Ajay immediately regretted his act of forcing Anjali to come with him. "Aren't you feeling sick?! What smell is that!!" Anjali muttered, pinching her nose close, and Ajay shrugged at her question.
Ajay and Anjali sat in the front, with Ajay guiding his SUV towards Hope. Whilst Arnav had dozed off on Khushi's shoulder, who in turn had slept, resting her head on his. Aditi and Shiva yawned sleepily, sitting in the last row of seat. And when they reached Hope, Anjali saw Ajay easily lifting Khushi in his arms and put her in Arnav's room, saying that there was no way that he would be carrying to the top floor to her room. But Khushi had woken up, and had looked at Ajay in confusion. He had ran his hand on top of her head, the way an elder brother does to his darling sister, with the perfect, tender smile, and told her to go to sleep. She smiled too, nodding, and slept off, trusting him completely. And then he went back and eased Arnav to the same bed too, and watched as they both snuggled and slept under the same quilt. He shook his head and turned around to see Anjali standing at the door, smiling at him. He went to her and muttered, "I feel as if I am their father!" Anjali chuckled, but answered, "Just for a day?! I have taken care of my brother since years!" "You can! I had just me to take care of all these years!" Ajay said, catching his breath. "And do I get a reward for carrying your very-heavy-brother to bed?" he asked in a suggestive voice. "What do you want?" Anjali asked, looking down, suddenly too uncomfortable with any of the physical proximity. He knelt down in front of her and looked into her eyes as he kissed her belly and rested his hands on it, waiting for a kick. And when he did not get any response, his face showed a flash of his disappointment, which he covered up saying, "He must be asleep" and was about to get up, when there was a slight answering hit from inside. He crowed in exultation, making Anjali's eyes fill up, even as she grinned. Ajay once again kissed her stomach and got up to take her in an embrace so gentle, her tears spilled out of her eyes. "Sshh... We have had enough of them for the day!" Ajay soothed her and Anjali nodded, smiling up at him.
"Good night, Anjali. . . ." Ajay said, his eyes wistful at the thought of leaving Anjali, and Anjali reflected his state too, as she told him to eat something before he slept and he nodded happily, realizing that she was the first one to tell him to "eat". "See you tomorrow!" Ajay yelled and Anjali nodded with a smile, and watched as he drove away. Sighing once, she turned around to go to her room, when her joy died and was first replaced with shock and then with rage at its best. . . . . . . . . .

Khushi woke up feeling cold and her hands searched for her quilt sleepily, and frowned when she did not find any. But she felt a rug covering her and she smiled as she started to doze off again. But jolted awake when she remembered that she was supposed to be alone in her room, and there should have been no one to tuck her in like this, and sure enough, she saw Arnav there, standing with a small smile. He said nothing, as he looked down, and went away. Khushi got ready for the day too, and was in her chamber, when she saw Arnav come to her chamber again, and replace the flowers in the vase. She felt the familiar tug at her heartstrings when she saw him work like this. She was about to try to get back to work, when Shiva rushed there, and asked, "Where is Anjali??!" Khushi immediately rushed to Arnav's side, knowing that he would be overreacting soon. Arnav was glaring at Shiva and was also looking thoughtful before he muttered, "That rat bas***d!" and took out his phone, and dialled a number on it, before he almost yelled, "If you have taken my sister to your home, Ajay, you're dead meat!" And Khushi watched a buzz from the other end, and saw Arnav's face blanch in shock. Khushi looked at him questioningly, to know whether Ajay had taken Anjali to his place, and Arnav shook his head in answer.
Arnav ran out telling that he would search everywhere once again. Khushi was about to leave too, when her phone started to ring. She wondered who would call her up on the official number, as she picked up the phone and greeted the person on the other end, with a quick, "Hello!"
And now it was Khushi's turn to blanch when she heard the person speak. "Namaste, Khushiji. . . . . . . ."
