Crazy, Stupid Love Chapter 5
She felt adrenaline rush through her veins along with lust and disgust.
Every single move he made just made her feel worse. But the feeling wasn't mutual. On the other hand, he was having the time of his life. He had waited for this moment for years. Years for ever since he and Khushi had become good friends. The minute he laid his eyes on her, he knew, she would be an amazing treat in bed.
And that was exactly where he intended to take this to.
"Get the f**k off of me!" she managed to blurt out when he drew himself away for a breath of air.
But before she could finish, he planted his hard lips on her soft ones, giving injustice to the beautiful lips of hers. In response to her moans full of disgust, he took it as motivation and proceeded further. He harshly made his entrance into her mouth with his tongue exploring every single corner. While she, fought with his tongue trying her best to get him out of her mouth.
Her eyes shot open as she heard a hard knock on the door. In fear, he immediately drew himself away from her and taking the chance, Khushi jolted up as fast as she could to open the door.
For once in her life, she felt like she didn't take the wrong decision. Every single time she intended to do something, it turned out the wrong way.
Just like tonight.
But not anymore. Opening the door was the best thing she could've done and she was glad she did. Letting out a sigh, she immediately draped her arms around his smooth neck and let the tears fall from her face.
"Khushi?" she heard his husky voice ask.
She sobbed more, letting out all of her feelings she had been keeping trapped inside for the last few minutes.
"What happened?" he asked again in worry.
Drawing herself away from her position, she met his eyes and his eyes met the most distressed eyes ever.
His hands immediately shot up to cup her face, "What happened Khushi?! Speak to me dammit!"
Her silence was enough to speak a thousand words.
He immediately understood the problem and stepped inside the apartment. She trailed along behind him in fear, proceeding with small steps.
"What do you think you were doing, you idiot!" he roared.
Khushi was taken back with this attitude of Arnav. Never before had she seen him so fired up, so angry. As far as she knew him, he was the most simplest guy. A guy who solved issues practically, thought practically. But now, seemed like he was complete different person.
"Look Arnav, you don't have to butt into this. It's mines and Khushi's problem," Arnav got in response.
"Look Mr. Mathur. In case you haven't noticed, Khushi's problems- are my problems. And I would like to know what the hell you were thinking when you-" he looked away in disgust ashamed to even think it let alone say it.
"Arnav, stay out of this. Khushi, tell him to go scurry of to one of his bitchy girlfriends."
Once again, she felt anger rush through her veins. This was not the time to shut up, it was to speak up. She took a deep breath, wiping her tears and firmly stepped in front of him.
"No I won't," she replied folding her arms.
"What?" she got a reply.
"You better get used to asking that question because once I'm done with you, you will be still asking what the hell happened here," Khushi said with a snicker. She immediately formed her fists and proceeded to run towards her but in surprise, she was pulled back by Arnav.
"Arnav, let me go!" she shouted struggling in his grip around her waist, flailing her arms and legs.
Her set her down and spun her towards him. Boring his eyes into hers he boldly ordered, "You are not going to use any violence. Let me handle this."
He stepped in front of her and warned, "Look Aman. I'm going to let you go this time."
Khushi's mouth dropped in shock and she protested, "But Arnav!"
Arnav raised his hand and Khushi was silenced.
"Next time you ever do this again, not just to Khushi but to any girl. I won't give even give you a chance to say a word," he continued with a heavy, angry stare.
Aman shook his head in dismay and a smirk was immediately planted on his lips. "Sure," he said smiling.
Arnav couldn't believe how shameless this man was. More than that, he couldn't believe that he was a good friend of his.
But Aman wasn't done.
"By the way Arnav," he said folding his arms. "Why are you so conservative about this? I mean, it's not like Khushi Kumari Gupta is your girlfriend or whatever."
"Girlfriend or not. She's my best friend. And I would do this for any girl who has had to suffer through that disgusting torture," Arnav answered boldly.
"Okay man. Whatever you say. But I don't see how it's my fault in this," Aman testified.
A confused expression was implanted on Arnav's face.
What the hell was he talking about?
"I mean Khushi had asked me to be her boyfriend so I just followed her instructions," he shrugged pouring himself a glass of beer.
"You want some?" Aman politely asked him.
Ignoring his question, Arnav turned towards Khushi questioningly.
"I told him to be my fake boyfriend! Not real!" she cried.
"But why Khushi?" he asked calmly.
"I- don't know," she answered. She spoke the truth. She honestly really did not know why she asked Aman to be her fake boyfriend.
"What do you mean by you don't know?" he shouted angrily.
Afraid she took a step back in response to Arnav's tone.
"I'll tell you why," they heard Aman say.
Both of their heads turned towards Aman as they saw him take a slow sip from his beer. He strode towards the couch and flopped onto it.
"Party freak here," he pointed towards Khushi, "is jealous of Mr. Practical Guy."
"Jealous?" Arnav asked confusingly towards Khushi then back to Aman.
"Yup pal. Jealous," he said, waving his fingers spookily.
"Why would Khushi be jealous?" Arnav asked.
And throughout all this, Khushi just looked towards the ground ashamed of her doings.
"Because, you apparently have some girlfriend."
Arnav's mouth dropped in shock and before he could say something Aman continued, "Don't worry I don't know the name or who the hell she is."
Arnav spun around to face Khushi and asked, "Why were you jealous if I have a girlfriend?"
"I- I don't know, Arnav."
"There it goes again. The I don't know Arnav. Do you even think about what you're doing before you do it?" he scolded her.
Tears now were streaming down her cheeks. She choked on them and managed to reply, "If I could Arnav I would've never gotten into this mess! It's not my fault!"
Arnav nodded affirmatively and replied, "You're correct. It's all my fault."
Khushi stared at him confusingly.
"My fault for being your friend and trying to help you."
And with that said, he left the apartment stomping away.
***
Their life was basically a repeat telecast of the past few days. Except flipped around.
This time it was Khushi trying to speak to Arnav, earning nothing but silence from him. How ironic that just a day Arnav was trying to talk to him but she wouldn't say a word.
And now this time, in Khushi's perspective he was acting like a jerk.
Jerk, him? Wasn't it her who committed the stupidest mistake of her life?
***
"La!" Khushi whined as she was pulled through every single store of Times Square.
"Stop whining Khushi!" La scolded. "And help me select a good dress," she continued skimming through every dress on the rack.
"But why do you need one?" she tried to talk herself out of it.
"Because I need one for my date with Justin tonight!" came an excited reply.
Khushi just rolled her eyes and limped towards the nearest seat in the store. Her feet were absolutely killing her from the walking and on top, she was wearing heels.
What a stupid mistake. Just like the other times.
She slid her heels off and massaged them a little when her eyes caught a sight that should've been peculiar to her by now.
She observed how her arm was hooked around his and was leaning on him as they walked. He pointed to something in the sky which was was probably a huge skyscraper and her face lit up excitingly, a huge smile on her lips.
Oh how she wished that was her.
Wait what? No! Not like-
She just wished he would talk to her once.
They continued walking down the along with the flow of the other pedestrians. Even though there about a thousand some people, Khushi's gaze never failed to leave the couple. She was tracking down every single, gesture, step and facial expression of theirs'.
"Khushi?" La shook her out of her trance.
"Yeah?" she replied lifting her head to see La.
"You okay?" she asked worriedly.
"Yeah, did you get the dress that you wanted?" she asked putting her heels back on.
And with that said, Khushi stood up with a jolt and enthusiastically looked through the racks.
But then, La's sight caught the same target Khushi's eyes were glancing at.
And it made all sense.
***
"Arnav, pick up the damn phone!" she yelled throwing a pillow across the room, tired of hearing the same ringing noise leading to another missed call.
She threw the her new phone down on the bed and buried her face in her palms. Letting out a sigh, her mind immediately wandered to the events that had occurred in the past few days.
Wait.
Wasn't she supposed to be mad at him? Wasn't she supposed to be the one playing the silent treatment?
No.
She couldn't let her ego get in her way again.
She sat back up again with new confidence. With a new determination.
If he wasn't going to pick up the phone, then this time, she was going to make sure she crosses all the limits just so he can hear her out completely.
***
Knock Knock.
"I'll get it," Arnav politely said as he got up from his chair and opened the door to an unexpected surprise.
The minute he opened the door, Khushi barged in and started talking, "Arnav! I-"
But she was cut off when she noticed that he and her weren't the only ones in here.
Alisha.
Why was she so shocked? She should've known that witch was going to be here too.
Khushi's expression immediately changed from desperate to 'Oh-its-on.'
She strode in casually and slightly flinged her purse on to the couch. "Oh good! You're here too!" Khushi said eyeing Alisha.
"Khushi what are you doing here?" Arnav asked calmly his tone slightly annoyed.
She turned around in shock and replied, "What do mean what I'm doing here? You're the one who said this is our apartment now."
One of his hands rose up to his temples and he requested, "Khushi, please. I'm on a date right now, please come later."
"Oh so you guys are on a date?" she replied amazed. "Nice," she complimented the romantic table set up.
"I'm sorry for barging in Arnav, but this is way more important than a stupid date here with Ms. Charm caster here," Khushi shot.
Alisha rose up in anger and replied, "How dare you talk to your boss like that?"
Khushi's smile grew wider. If you haven't noticed, Alisha. This is not our office. I can call you whatever I want. It's a free country."
Enough.
Arnav grabbed her arm and flung around to face him, and through his hateful eyes he warned, "Khushi. Leave. Now."
In normal circumstances, she would be heart. Her heart broken into a million pieces.
But not today.
She freed herself from his tight grip and faced Alisha once again.
"I am not leaving this place Arnav, until you find out the truth," she spoke glancing at him.
"What truth Khushi?" he asked annoyed. "Stop playing James Bond here."
Slowly, she strode over to him and eye-to-eye and asked, "Do you really love her, Arnav?"
Was this some childish joke?
"What kind of question is this, Khushi!" he replied angered.
"Just answer the damn question," she ordered boldly.
"Yes. I love her," he replied folding his arms.
He did? He loved her?
She shouldn't have been surprised. She knew he was going to say yes. No problemo. She was prepared for anything.
"And what about you Alisha?" she asked turning towards her.
"I love him too!" she replied sending a flying kiss aimed at Arnav.
Bitch.
Khushi shrugged her shoulders and strode towards Alisha more until they could feel their cool breaths on each other.
"Don't you think it's a little wrong to love someone else when you already have someone in your life?" Khushi shot at her.
"Wh-what are you talking about?" Alisha replied trying not to sound nervous.
"It's okay. It will take some time to understand," Khushi patted her shoulder in pity.
"Khushi, what is all this?" Arnav asked.
She silenced with a single hand gesture and settled herself on the couch.
"So Ms. Charm Caster. You were born in London right?"
Alisha confusingly replied affirmatively.
"You grew up in London, then attended college in NY. Next thing, you were appointed as a clerk in our office. And slowly because of your outstanding performance you made it to the top of this company."
"What is all this Arnav?!" Alisha asked him shocked.
"Khush-" Arnav tried to say but once again was cut off.
"So may I ask," Khushi continued, throughout all this, "when did you get the chance to marry?"
"Marry?!" Alisha replied confusingly. "I never married!"
"Really?" Khushi continued amazed. "But that's not what your marriage certificate says Mrs. Aman Mathur."
