Part : 13

It was midnight. Maan was sitting in his study room trying to concentrate on official work. But he couldn't. His only companion was solitary. In despair he threw the files from the tables and hid his face in his hands.

"how many people have to die for no reason?" He had seen hundreds of people dying here. He stood up from the sitting position and went towards the basin to splash water on his face.

Apurva was not only a good officer he was also a good friend, like his younger brother. It was just a few months ago on his birthday his mates planned to play a prank on him. It was a holiday so all were in fun mood. It was Maan's idea to tap his phone while he was talking to his wife. Sadly their excitement was cut down when they heard only Apurva to speak in the call. His wife didn't say a single word.

"Apurva you were talking to your wife?" Maan said maintaining a serious voice.

"hm.." He gave a small reply.

"you dominate your wife a lot." Maan was fighting to keep on the serious attitude.

"sorry Sir!!.."

"Uff! The thing is we wanted to record all your mushy talks with your wife so that we can blackmail you on you birthday." Maan burst out into laughter. "but sadly your wife did not say a word. Only you were blabbering."

"Ohhh.." He grinned. "so your plan failed."

"I hate to admit it but my plan failed. And you are very dominating husband." Maan said grinning wide. "you didn't let her speak a word."

"dominating her? she is the most dominating person of the world." Apurva gave a smile. "and I have not shared it to anyone here.. she is mute.. she never said anything to me but I can understand what she is trying to say.."

'thud!' As something fall on the floor creating a sound Maan jolted back to present. It was a photo frame fall from the table. The glass of the frame was broken into millions of pieces. There was a photo of Geet in the frame. He carefully took it outside.

Next morning as soon as Maan arrived in the office he got a call from colonel.

As Maan entered Colonel's cabin he found him playing with a pen. He was smoothly circling the pen around pale fingers.

"Maan congrats." He gave a warm smile.

"Congrats? For what?" Maan knotted his eye bows.

"I came to know you're going to marry very soon." His extremely bright eyes were becoming even brighter with every passing second. They were glistening on his pale skin.

"Oh! Thanks." Maan replied mechanically.

"Maan won't you introduce your fianc with me." He sneered.

Maan became aware guessing his intentions. Maan knew Colonel's nature very well. He won't hesitate doing anything until he achieves the target.

"Sorry sir, I would ask for your leave now, Apurva's family is here. I have to attend them."

Colonel scanned Maan's expression. He knew it he couldn't use Geet completely even if he wants. He need to find some other way.

Maan was roaming in the market aimlessly with Geet.

"kuch hua kya?"

"huh.. nahi.."

"kuch to hua hai.." Geet said worriedly. "ap thik to hai na?"

"ha.. mai bilkul think hoon." Maan forced a smile. "Tumse age ki kahani sunna hai."

"ha ha pata hai.. pahele chacha ki dukan pe chalte hai. Ammi wahi hai.. mujhe bhi kuch kaam hai."

They headed towards the shop.

Maan and Geet sat on a bench ordering tea. Her mother joined them after a few minutes. They were doing their regular talks.

"Maan you're here too."

Maan stood up hearing his voice. Colonel was standing behind with chacha's daughter.

"good afternoon sir."

"good afternoon." Colonel smiled. "yaha kaise?"

"we come here almost every day." Maan smiled back.

"We?" Colonel raised his eyebow.

Maan sighed. "Colonel this is Ge.." He gulped and started to speak again "Jannat my fianc and this is her mother." He turned towards Geet "he is the new colonel."

He exchanged greetings.

"arre apki haat mei toh chot ayi hai." He said looking at the bandage of hand of Geet's mother. "ye sab kaise hua."

"kuch nahi beta bas aise hi chot lag gayi." The lady smiled looking at him.

"aise kaise chot lag gayi. Apko bhi dekhke chalna chahiye tha.." Colonel replied worriedly.

"ha ha ammi ko aur thodi daant lagaiye." Geet smiled. "apna khyal toh bilkul bhi nahi rakhti."

"kuch nahi bas choti si chot hai.."

Maan smiled a lil bit thinking acting karna to koi isse sikhe. After a few minutes Geet's mother left with chacha's daughter saying she will join them in a few minutes.

"Jannat.." As the colonel called her name they turned towards him. "tum to bachpan se yahi raheti ho na.."

"hmm."

"toh tumhe toh yaha ki sari rasta pata hogi."

"sab rasta pata hai.." Geet smiled sweetly.

"toh saher tak jane ka koi shortcut bhi pata hai.. I hate to waste 1hours on way."

"huh short cut bazaar ke '" Geet was going to continue but she was cut by Maan. "there was a short cut from behind the market."

Maan noticed colonel is trying to be friendly with Geet. And he is slowly becoming friendly.

After a few attempts colonel understood it's not possible to use Geet in presence of Maan.

"Jannat tumhari ammi kaha gayi.." Colonel looked around. "chalo ab main tum dono ke beech nahi rahunga.. aram se baatein karo.. mai tumhari ammi ko dundti hoon..mujhe usse Kashmiri khana banana sikhna hai" Colonel left.

Maan realized it he is targeting Geet's mother now. But he couldn't do anything here.

After a few minutes her mother came towards them.

"mai ghar ja rahi hoon.. jaldi ajana." As she said Geet nodded positively.

"chaliye mai apko ghar tak chod deta hoon.." Colonel left with her.

After a few minutes Maan and Geet left the bazaar and went to sit in a lonely park.

"Geet.."

"Huh.. pata hai. Apko age sunna hai.."

"tumhe humesa mai jo kahena chahta hoon pahelese pata kaise chal jati hai?"

They both laughed full heartedly. After a few minutes Geet started to speak.

"bas kahi se sab ko pata chal gaya ke bhai ayr Nazneen di k beech kuch hai.. kuch ka matlab samjhe na aap.. aapko pata hai Nazneen di itni darr gayi thi wo to bhagna chahti thi.." She stopped to smile. "lekin Nazneen di ke ammi to pahele se hi razi thi,,"

"phir?" Maan asked when she stopped.

"phir kya bas shadi ka din pakki ho gayi'" She took a deep breath in.. "lekin uss din se sab kuch badal gaya'" She was going to continue but a voice interrupted them.

"Jannat ye tum kya kar rahi ho.." they turned back to the source of the voice.

"bhai app." Geet gulped hearing the voice.

"tum mere saath chalo.. yaha ao." He said in a strong voice.

"Geet kahi nahi jayegi.. tum jaiso ke saath to bilkul bhi nahi.." Maan shielded Geet. Geet couldn't get anything what was happening around her.

Both targeted their guns at each other and soon Maan found a group of men are targeting gun at him.

Just a few seconds of silence and Maan heard sounds of firing and two men fell down. It was colonel with uniformed man. Both of the group started to fire at each other.

"Maan." Geet shouted in fear.

Maan knew Geet couldn't get her out of this place alone. His first job is to save Geet now. He pull her carefully but firmly taking her out of the place.

Her brother's eye fell on them he was going to shoot Maan suddenly a black SUV came between them saving Maan from the bullet.

"Get inside.." The driver said in an ordering tone.

Maan was in no position of thinking anything. But he felt it he should get inside of the SUV. As soon as they get inside without wasting a seconds it drive them away of the place.
