chapter 42:
Brij felt uncomfortable seeing maan smile. He definitely was going to repent for his words but somehow he felt maan wuld put him in ease once he breaks the ice. No point in letting the ice melt when you have a hammer in your hand, he thought.
maan: well for starters i am deeply in love with your sister.
brij who was deeply in thought was shocked when maan told he loves geet.
brij: WHAT????
he couldn't believe his ears. he was not sure if he heard maan correctly. He pinched himself to make sure he wasn't dreaming. Maan laughed at brij. Brij looked at him bewildered.
brij: what's so funny?
maan: your shock act. you do realise you're acting funny right?
brij chuckled at that scratching his head with his right hand.
brij: you're telling me the truth right???
maan: why would i lie? I know that geet was the one who was trying to get to me by using those letters and small games. But i must say, she is pretty intelligent.
Brij: you knew it was her?
maan shook his head for a no. He never knew that from the start but only realised when he thought he was all too late.
maan: no i dint know from the start but yeah i came to eventually even though i failed miserably in all her tests.
brij smiles at him understandingly. maan returns his smile.
Brij: so what are you planning to do? you do realise that she was planning to quit the job right?
maan: I knew the moment she started acting so weirdly and kept mentioning abt valentine's day. I would never let her quit the job that way. She was bound by the contract she signed with my company. Even though i doubt it would've so much as stopped her. I'm trying really hard to make her busy in work so that she never gets time to resign from her job. But i dont really know how long i can hold her back like that.
Brij chcuckles hearing maan out. maan looks at him in surprise.
maan: i dont see what's so funny in that?
he asks a little angry. brij gets up and sits beside maan and puts a hand on his shoulder. maan looks at him,
brij: you dont have to worry about it anymore.
maan: how can you say that?
brij: i can say that because geet has decided to drop that thought from her head. She loves you so much that she's ready to work with you so that she can see you everyday even if it's with someone else.
maan: what?
brij: i know it's a bit shocking but she's ready to endure the pain just to be able to see you daily.
maan: i dint know she loved me that much.
brij: you can never guess how much a person loves you until you experience it and see it in their eyes.
maan nodded.
brij: so now tell me what's your plan?
maan smiled at him and started telling brij about his little plan which would come to climax very soon if everything went like he had planned. An hour later maan was exiting brij's office and was driving towardshis own.
Meanwhile geet sat in her cabin thinking about maan and how she loved him deeply. It would kill her to see him with someone else, even if it was her best friend. Life just seemed so terribly wrong right now, if only everything fell in place. How she longed to be in maan's arms but now it seems her wish would never come true. A lone tear escaped her eyes but she was fast enough to wipe it off. She dint want anyone to see it.
She was so engrossed in her own world, she dint realise when maan came back. She dint even notice that he had caught her crying. She quickly got hold of herself and got back to work. Maan's heart ached to hold the one he loves close to him and kiss away those sad tears but for that he had to wait and once the wait was over he would make sure geet would never be sad again.
It was almost 7 in the evening when Adi knocked on maan's door. Maan busy working,
maan: come in
adi came in and stood near his table.
adi: Sir, woh...
maan: bolo adi, kya hai?
maan replied noncholant and too engrossed in his work.
adi: sir woh geet...
maan's head shot up and he looked towards adi.
maan: what about geet adi?
adi: Sir, geet has not eaten anything from morning, she's working nonstop. I tried to convince her to leave for home but she's adamant on finishing her work.
maan dint show any emotion even though inside his heart was in turmoil.
maan: i'll take care of that, you can leave adi. I'll make sure she eats something. Has everyone left?
adi: yes sir, the staff have left.
maan:ok
adi excused himself and left. Maan looked at geet, she was looking wary with tired eyes and loose strands of hair across her face but for him she looked like an angel. He smiled and got up from his seat and exited his cabin. He looked around to make sure his staff had left. he walked towards geet's cabin, he knocked on the door and enetered. geet looked up lazily but as soon as she realised it was maan, she got up and straightened herself only to feel dizzy and experience engulf her. the last thing she remembered was being caught by very strong arms.
Maan hadn't expected her to be so tired. It seemed like she hadn't eaten from days. he steadied her in his arms and carried her to the couch in his cabin and set her down. He called a doctor, who came in and checked on her. He only told maan to make her eat something once she is up. he just nodded. What else could he do? he was planning on taking her to dinner but she just collapsed. he sat down next to her sleeping form and took her hand in his, "I love you geet, i wonder if you will ever know what you mean to me" he whispered. He bent down to face her sleeping eyes and pecked them and whicspered again "I love you".
