Khushi came down by the stairs with Ashi on her lap…

K: Arnav, Ashi hasn't pooped as yet…. She said worriedly looking at a smiling Ashi, who was playing with Khushi's hair.

Arnav turned around in shock and glared at her

Khushi came to a sudden halt the moment the lawyer sitting opposite to Arnav came into her sight.

K: oh!

A: I'm so sorry, what were you saying…? He said turning back to the lawyer.

Khushi came down the stairs and sat down next to Arnav.

Law: exactly how old is the baby?

K: Ashna…

Law: yeah, how old is she?

A: she is somewhat 9 months…? He asked turning to Khushi…

K: 10, she turned 10 months, 4 days ago…

Law: so 10 months old… hmmm…. He noted down the fact and looked up at Khushi…

Khushi had made Ashi sit on her lap, she crawled over to Arnav's thigh and now hung somewhere in between Khushi's thigh and Arnav's thigh… She patted on Arnav's stomach, "googoo…goi…brr…"

Arnav looked down at her and brought her to him… Khushi in the meantime answered the lawyer's question.

Law: so what do you do miss…?

K: Khushi Kumari Gupta…

Law: yeah, so what do you do for a living…?

K: I am a fashion designer…

Law: so you work at ARD?

K: no, I own Panache.

Law: okkay…and what are your working schedules… must be similar to ASR's…?

K: yes almost… she replied looking at Arnav questioningly…

Arnav shrugged back and looked at the lawyer with similar curiosity.

Law: according to Aakash and Payel Raizada… he continued after he had taken out a bundle of papers from his file…, "hmmm….so according to Aakash and Payel Raizada, after their deaths, if it happens before Ashna Raizada is 8 years old, which she is, 10 months old, as you pointed out…her custody must go to someone who promises to be with her 24X7, which none of you can, so…

A: what the…? What do you mean to say?

The lawyer tried to remain strong even though Arnav gave him deadly glares…

Khushi kept quiet. All she did was she held onto Arnav's arm… Arnav looked down at her hand and then back at her… There were tears in her eyes.

He turned back to the lawyer…

A: "cut the 24X7 custody crap and give me the papers for Ashi's guardianship"

Law: Mr. Raizada, this case is not with me anymore… it has been taken over by Child Protection Services for orphaned children.

K: she is not an orphan… she almost yelled at the Lawyer and Ashi started crying in shock…

Arnav picked her up and gently patted her back to calm her down… she sobbed softly as she placed her little head on his chest.

Arnav placed his other hand on Khushi's shoulder, "Khushi!" he whispered…

K: she is not an orphan Arnav…

Law: listen, Miss Gupta…

A: just shut up… we want Ashi's custody… now…

Law: and how will you be managing your job as well as the kid…?

A: that's not your lookout…

Law: yes, it's not my look out…but it's CPS's look out… and they would be here any moment now…

K: what? You've called the CPS even before talking to us…?

Law: Miss Gupta… I had to…

A: listen Mr. Bhatia… either you give me the papers for Ashi's custody or I'll ruin your career for ever" He threatened.

K: "I'll help him in ruining you…" she added angrily.

Law: "But S-S-Sir!!" he fumbled as he swiped of droplets of sweat from his forehead.

A: papers… or career…?

Lady: what kind of a conduct is this Mr. Arnav Singh Raizada?

Arnav stood up to have a look at the plump, tall lady who stood infront of him with a file in her hand. She was wearing a neatly ironed and pleated saree, black hair peeped in from the curly heap of shortly trimmed grey hair…

She adjusted her round spectacles and looked at Khushi who stood next to Arnav.

Arnav gave over Ashi to Khushi and, "who the hell are you? How come you enter my house without my permission?"

Lady: "I am Miss Draupadi Raj, Deputy Executive Officer, CPS, Orphaned Children Branch." She said as she extended her hand expecting to shake hands with Arnav. But,

A: why the hell are you here, Miss CPS?

D: Draupadi Raj…

A: I don't care… All I care for now, is about Ashi's custody which should be given to us and not any random CPS." He said stiffening his jaws.

D: "that is something I can't help you with…" she said grinning rudely.

A: "what the…? You…"

K: "Arnav…" Khushi stopped him… She was about to give Ashi to Arnav when she almost jumped over to him… she placed her tiny palms on his cheeks and pouted at the roughness, she questioned him about it, "abba booboo…la…grr…brrr?"

Arnav smiled at her and turned his face to kiss her palm, as his eyes moistened up at the thought of letting her go with those bloody CPS. No he won't let that giant like lady take Ashi away from him, he was determined about it.

Khushi tried convincing the arrogant lady, who finally agreed upon a short session with the two of them regarding Ashi and her possibilities to stay with them.

D: "fine. I am ready for the session you are asking for, but you have to promise me that Mr. Raizada will behave."

K: "he is my responsibility." She said looking at Arnav who kissed Ashi's soft hair as she placed the tiny head of her on his broad chest, giggling to herself.

Miss CPS buzzed the lawyer off soon after and started her session.

D: "As Miss Gupta told me, would you be able to divide up your time for Ashna?" she asked looking angrily at Arnav, who glared back at her. He had to control himself as he had promised to Khushi, when she had taken him to the kitchen and literally begged infront of him to keep his anger under control infront of CPS Devi, as Khushi had renamed her.

A: "yes I would."

D: "and how will you do that?"

A: "I'll manage my work from home."

D: "and miss Gupta?"

K: "While Ashi will be at my place I too will manage my work from home."

D: "just a minute… you've got me totally wrong. Ashna Raizada won't be leaving Raizada Mansion if you two want her custody."

Khushi and Arnav looked at each other and gave each other 'we'll manage things up, 1^st let's get the custody…' looks and turned back to CPS Devi, "Fine." They replied in union.

D: "so you've decided to shift in, Miss Gupta?"

K: "yes."

D: "but you are not married" the rude grin was back and it totally made Arnav flip. He wanted to pounce over her and strangle her to death, then and there… but the moment his eyes shifted to Ashi who sat on the floor hugging her teddy bears and playing with her toys, his thought vanished into thin air and his determination to keep her to himself came back.

A: "we'll get into a mutual understanding with each other."

D: "are you friends with each other?"

K: "yes we are…"

Draupadi's eye brows shot up at the promptness, "Really?"

A: "yes…"

D: "can you marry each other?"

A: "what?"

D: "you heard me right… can you marry each other?"

K: "umm… Miss Draupadi you should be bothered about Ashi's well being…We'll be able to look after her even if we remain single."

D: "well, you see Miss Gupta; I won't give you Ashna's custody until and unless I'm sure that you two will stay together and only marriage can give me that guarantee… so…"

A: "I promise we would stay together even when we aren't married to each other."

D: "Mr. Raizada… I don't believe in lame promises like yours… just like you had asked the Lawyer… I'm asking you… marriage and custody or, no marriage and no custody?"

A: "Miss CPS… he yelled at her… cut your crap out… I want Ashi's custody, that's it…"

D: "I am sorry Miss Gupta… this falls under bad behaviour… so I am leaving with Ashna Raizada… she stood up, another lady form CPS came up and picked up Ashi. She started crying to the touch of an unknown person… Khushi ran to her and Ashi bend over to go to her but the lady kept on walking steadily. Khushi started crying, "don't take her away…she is the last memory of my jiji and Jijaji…" But no one listened to her. Arnav stood at his place, stoned.

Khushi sat down on the floor as she saw the lady take a screaming Ashi away from her…

She ran back into the house, "Arnav…" but he didn't respond to her calls…

Khushi ran upto him, held her by his shoulder and shook her frantically…

A: "I'll kill Draupadi…" he spoke up in rage…

K: "then do it…"

Arnav looked at Khushi and nodded…

A: "yeah right, thanks…"

It was the 18^th phone call he had made since the morning, after they had left with Ashi.

K: "anything?"

A: "no…"

K: "same here…"

A: "I shouldn't have yelled at that bloody CPS Giant…" he said as he sat down on the sofa.

Khushi realised that Arnav was loosing himself, the strictness, the arrogance, that made him The Arnav Singh Raizada. He couldn't afford to lose his mightiness now when he needed it the most. She had to instigate it back into him. She walked upto him and pulled him up to make him stand up, "you… Mr. Arnav Singh Raizada… The Arnav Singh Raizada…you brag a lot about being powerful and influential, use that up and bring Ashi back… do you get me?" she literally shook him and shouted at him.

She was successful in waking ASR in Arnav. He smiled, as he realised why she said that and took her hand into his and pulled her out of the house saying, "HP… we'll be back soon…"

He turned on his car, "let's bring Ashi back."

They barged into the Mayor's office, "Mr. Jain…?" Arnav started… as the security officials tried pulling them out of his cabin…

May: "it's OK. Let them in…"

Arnav and Khushi entered, "Sorry to enter in such a manner…" Khushi tried to explain…

May: "it's okay Mr. Raizada and Ms. Gupta…; how can I help the two most eminent business tycoons of the country?"

Arnav and Khushi told everything to the Mayor…

May: "you'll get Ashna's custody… I guarantee that, but it might take me sometime to arrange for her transfer…"

K: "approximately, how long will it take you?"

May: "Lemme see…you'll get her by today evening, I guess…"

A: "what are…" she placed her palm on his and squeezed it, to stop him.

K: "its okkay… thank you so much… let us know when we can go and take her…"

May: "yes, yes sure…"

A: "we'll take your leave now… thank you so much Mr. Jain…"

May: "Anytime…"
