CHAPTER 1

She stared at the closed door in front of her in horror as sudden urge to run away from the place engulfed her. But she has not come here to run away. She has come here to see him. "It's just him, Kushi. What is there to get scared?" she encouraged herself and took a deep breath, not sure why she is feeling it very odd. She lifted her slightly trembling hands to press calling bell.

To add more to her horror, the door got opened, even before she pressed the calling bell and she rolled her eyes from her lifted hands to figure that appeared on the door. A tall guy whose age cannot be more than 25, looked at her in equal horror before questioning her "yes, how can I help you?" she dropped her hands down which now tightly gripped her side bag.

She opened her mouth to say something but immediately closed it as only air came of it. Why on the earth she is feeling so nervous like teen age girls? She didn't even remember any incidents during her teen age when she was so scared. Was it all because she is going to meet him after so many months? She sighed and looked at the guy who was holding the door before muttering "Arnav?"

The guy blinked before saying "yeah, he lives here." He almost turned inside when he hastily turned back, almost frightening her with the force, he asked "wait, have you come to see him?" she raised her eye brow at the guy's surprised face, not sure in what sense he framed such a question. But the guy quickly gathered himself as he stepped back motioning her come in.

She scanned the living room as that guy hastily moved from one corner to other picking up all the things which was scattered throughout the big room. Laptop, shirts, shoes and even used eating plates was there. "Bachelor's room" She thought to herself as her eyes widened in realization. Does he really live here? Her shock was replaced by guilt and fear as she remembered what made him to stay here. She saw two room doors and her eyes got fixed to one it.

She saw other guy coming of out other room, shooting her suspicious look. Being not a stranger friendly girl, standing in room filled with strangers was not doing her any good and the look that both guys were giving her made her anxious. She glanced at their faces only to drop down her gaze immediately as both guys were checking her out shamelessly. She moved her hand along her bag strip from her right shoulder to left hip, cursing her decision to visit him.

She noticed another pair of legs was approaching her and she immediately let out prayer that it must be Arnav. "You!?!" she glanced up hearing a surprised tone and sighed relief seeing a familiar face. She forced a faint smile as third guy asked her to sit down. "It's okay." She replied "is Arnav there?" she asked for formality as she already knew that he was here.

The minute she entered the house she felt strange feeling which she always feel when he was around. "He's inside. You go and see him." The third guy politely informed her as he pointed towards the room which she was staring at, not long before. She nodded and started to walk towards it. She heard murmurs of other two guys when she walked past them.

"Vicky, who is she? And what's the scene going on?" Vicky gave warning looks to them as he spoke in low voice "stop it, guys. Do you know who she is?" he paused walking close to them as he quickly added "Arnav's wife."

"Ex-wife." The three guys turned back hearing her rage filled voice. Even Kushi was surprised with her own tone. Few minutes back she was not even able to say a word but now? The thought of being his wife also hurts her so much. She shut her eyelids trying to gather herself and when she opened it she saw three shocked face and without saying anything she walked into the room.

He smiled, looking at monitor, quite pleased with the output of his work. He was working hard on these designs for quite a long time and now he was more than content. He heard some slight noise from living room and sighed. 'They never leave me to work at peace, do they?' he bitterly thought as he shouted at the top of his voice "what is it Vicky?"

As he got no reply, he once again asked "Vicky, I asked you what's going..." his voice trailed off as he felt familiar sensation overwhelmed him. "What the? She.. She can't be here!"He murmured. When she was about to enter the room, she heard him shout at top of his voice and felt shivers runs through her spine. She halted for a moment before entering the room.

One glance at the room, she knew it was his. Everything was arranged in neat and organized manner. She scanned the room and found him at other end of room working on the system, having his back towards her. When she was about to call him, he turned back, disbelief clearly written on his face. "Kushi." He whispered her name. Involuntarily her lips curved into a smile making his heart to stop beating.

Smile touched his lips but he held it back as soon as he noticed her smile fade. They both stared at each other for few seconds as their memories haunted them. She recovered first and sighed as she noticed his attire. He was wearing jeans and t-shirt which clearly indicted he was on good and relaxed mood. She felt relief sunk inside her thinking she had chose the right time.

She walked towards him. He observed that she has not changed a lot over last three years. Her blue colour kurta accompanied with sky blue coloured leggins and duppatta made her look admirable. She looked just like the girl whom he first met three years back but only difference is she looked pale and restless. Restless? He turned his attention towards her.

Suddenly he remembered about his stupid roommates. Why on the earth she has come here? "You must have called me?" he said in low voice indicating displeasure. She was not surprise as he didn't even use any pleasantries even for formality. But when did they have normal conversation? She leaned back on the wall, looking at him from side as he continued to work on his system. "It's important. I need your help." He immediately looked up at her in astonishment.

"If you think that girls cannot live on their own, then damn you and your ego, Mr. Raizada. I don't need your help."

She doesn't like asking help, that too his help. But she had no choice because only he can help her. 'It's for papa.' She repeated to herself. She was relieved when he didn't mock her at her inability but just gave a nod. She started to speak "papa is coming here. Prachi is coming to join some course here to prepare for her entrance exams. I don't know still how many more times I can tell them that you are out of station. Are you listening?"

He nodded his gaze still fixed to the screen. She waited patiently for him to reply but as it was of no use she called his name "Arnav?" he turned to her as spoke "why can't you tell them truth, Kushi? I mean it has been almost year since we broke up!" she let out sigh as she replied "you knew it, Arnav. Papa is not well. Just now he survived third attack. I don't want to be the reason for his.."

He interrupted her saying "but truth always remains truth. How many days you can hide it from them?" she shot back "papa is counting his days. Till he is alive I just want him to feel relieved thinking at least one of his daughter's life has been settled. He already worries a lot about prachi." She stopped as she got no response.

"Okay. I will manage." She declared before turning to leave. He closed his eyes in anger. Here He was trying to talk to her with all his patience and she? She is showing her attitude like he was the one at her mercy. She stopped hearing his voice "how many days?" of course she knew he will not say no. Every time she asks for something, first he will deny it before accepting it. When he is going to understand it hurts hearing his denial?

"It may take three weeks. They are coming this weekend." He nodded as he murmured "three weeks." She too repeated it "yes, three weeks." They said it together, both of them not sure what fate had for them in stores for next three weeks.
