Chapter 4

Arnav just stood there staring at Khushi not knowing what to say or what to think.

Khushi: Amma it doesn't matter anymore. You and buaji only wanted the best for me. It was not our fault we were deceived.

Garima: I wish I had listened to what you wanted Khushi bitiya. You never wanted to marry him and you only did it for us.

Garima was really crying by now.

Khushi: Amma look at me. Look where I am now. Look at the family I am a part of. Both jiji and I are part of a really nice family. What has happened, happened in the past. Now we have to look to the future.

Both Khushi and Payal had to calm their mother down. Everyone else were still in shock after the nights events and everything they had heard. Khushi and Payal helped settled their mother and father while everyone else made their way to their own rooms. As Arnav was walking out he looked back at Khushi just thinking what she may be going through at this moment.

As all went out Anjali realised all of Payal and Khushi's items were still in the living room. Khushi and Payal came out of the guest and said they were both going to spend the night with their parents and aunt in case they needed anything. All agreed to this. They had also decided to leave the items where they were and deal with them in the morning as nobody could think straight tonight.

Arnav went back to his room contemplating what had conspired tonight. He felt a little bit more at peace knowing full well Khushi did not want to marry her ex-fianc just like when he realised he didn't want to marry Lavanya. She only said yes for her family. Was she about to sacrifice herself for her family? Why? He thought. He knew why she married him. He had threatened her. Was she threatened by them as well? No that's ridiculous. They loved her and she loved them. At least that much he knew. Then he thought why should I care she still betrayed me and with this he went to sleep on his recliner restless as always.

Nobody had a decent night sleep except of course mami who just thought the whole thing was an elaborate plot for the two girls to gain sympathy. She so told this to her husband in the morning. He just ignored her taunts as he had always done.

Arnav didn't get a got night sleep. His mind was thinking all sorts. Why did she said yes to her family for wanting to get married? There must be more than her family just pressuring her into this marriage but what? He was so confused. He went to the bathroom to get ready for work.

Shyam also didn't get much sleep. He was furious and also scared. He couldn't believe Khushi did what she did with those items. He thought back to last night.

FB: While everyone was getting around was busy dealing with the crisis he sneaked away and went to the bin to see what exactly was in the bag. He found a set of marriage clothes and also the bracelet he had given her. How could throw away this and keep everything that Arnav gave to her? He was really mad. Before he got caught he only took the bracelet back and went back to the family.

Present: He also couldn't believe he was almost caught last night.

After waking up and becoming fresh Garima went to buaji's room and told the girls to go and get ready it's the morning I'll look after jiji. Both girls got ready in the guest room as they had already bought their items of clothing and toiletries last night from their respective rooms. First Payal got ready then Khushi and they both went outside to help with the morning prayers, breakfast as well as clearing all their items they left in the living room last night. Once the morning prayers and breakfast cooked Khushi and Payal started gathering all the bags together and checking whose was whose. HP was also asked by Anjali to go and help. First the bags were all taken up and then Khushi along with the help of HP started taking the chest up the stairs as it was quite big. She was in front holding the chest handle and walking backwards up the stairs while Hp was behind holding the handle in front of him. As they were going up Arnav was coming down. As she was walking backwards she couldn't see behind but Arnav wasn't paying much attention when he was coming down. As she went up her foot slipped on her dupatta and she landed right into Arnav's arms while letting go of the chest which crashing down dropping everything out and onto the floor. Arnav and Khushi were too busy in an eye lock to have noticed.

They only came out of the eye-lock when they both heard Khushi's name been called. Payal heard the commotion and came running down yelling Khushi's name. Anjali who also heard the commotion was downstairs. She came up to the study area where all this happened and asked if everyone was ok. HP who had also let go of the chest was helping pick things up. Payal started gathering things as well. Before Anjali was about to help both Khushi and Arnav asked her to not to and rest. As they had said it together they looked at each other then went to help Payal and HP pick up Khushi's things. Once everything was in the chest Payal who hadn't seen what was inside Khushi's chest for a while was a bit confused looking at her things.

Payal: Khushi where are they?

Khushi: Where are what jiji?

Payal: Where are your gold bangles?

Khushi: What gold bangles?

Payal: The gold bangles that your mum gave to you. I have noticed for a while you haven't been wearing them. I thought you had taken them off and put them in this chest but they are nowhere to be found.

Khushi first looked shocked, then horrified and then while she was scared closed her eyes. She thought 'Hey DM what am I going to tell jiji, Anjali di is here and so is Arnavji and if he finds out god only knows what's going to happen.'

Anjali: Khushiji why don't you answer the question?

Payal: Doesn't matter di. It seems like Khushi has learnt how to hide a lot of things from me.

Khushi looked at her sister and saw the disappointment in her face. Khushi cupped her face in her hands. Payal didn't look at her.

Khushi: Jiji, please look at me.

Payal: Why so you can get away with not telling me your secret's again. Don't talk to me anymore.

With this Payal went to get up. Khushi grabbed her hand and looked at her pleading. Payal came back down and looked at Khushi.

Payal: Khushi now tell me. Where are those gold bangles?

Khushi took a deep breath and related the whole story. She recalled how because of her Lavanya had left the first time and it was her fault. She said she needed to get her back. She even said how she wrote the love letter and gave it Arnav. Arnav looked at her thinking of course WHAT THE….? Anjali just smirked and Payal remembered her writing this in there room back at GH.

Payal: I remember that time. You shocked me when you said you were writing Arnavji a love letter. Then you said it was going to be from Lavanyaji. Buaji almost had a heart attack thinking you had gone mad.

Khushi went back to relating the rest of the story. She said how Arnavji didn't want to hear anything. Anjali thought typical Chote. Then after being in his office she came up with the only solution she had left which was to buy Arnavji some plants and say they were from Lavanyaji but problem was no money. She told them she sold the bangles for this reason. Payal was shocked but also felt proud that her sister had done a wonderful thing. Anjali asked Khushi to come towards her. Khushi got up and sat next to Anjali.

Anjali: You did all this for me and my family and especially for my brother. I am glad that you are Chote's wife. I know you will always take care of him.

Khushi was avoiding looking at Arnav. She knew he wouldn't believe her or just think she was a gold digger. Arnav on the other hand kept looking at her the whole time and didn't know what to think.

Once everything was gathered up Khushi, Payal and HP helped take the chest up to Arnav and Khushi's room. Arnav snapped out of his staring and went down to have breakfast still thinking about what he heard. Was it all true what he heard? If so she sold her bangles for plants for me? But I only bought Lavanya back because of her. She wanted me to do that so that's what I did. Snap out of it Arnav why do I care. He went into ASR mode and sat at the table for breakfast.

All of a sudden Garima came out of the guest room and shouting for Khushi and Payal. Everyone heard this and went to find out what was going on.
