at the beginning all i can say is that this is the longest update till date that i have written. but , um forget it. i'll let you read. it will be more fun that way.

CHAPTER 7:Friendship and Mystery

The next morning khushi got up to see a new environment. She then realized where she actaually was. She sat up straight and looked around to search for arnav. He wasn't anywhwere to be seen. He had left her a note,

Khushi,

Get freshened up. I'll be with you soon.

Arnav.

She stared at it blankly. Then she came to her senses and got ready quickly. She wore the clothes left out by arnav. Apparently deepika's clothes fitted her perfectly. When she came out of the bathroom she saw arnav had set up breakfast on the table in the room and was already starting to help himself.

Arnav: glad to see that you are ready.

Khushi: thanks for the clothes.

Arnav: ah. No problem. Come join me for breakfast. The two sat down and had breakfast silently. After they had finished breakfast arnav quickly asked OP to clear out the plates and stuff.

Arnav: get ready. We'll be leaving for college soon.

He turned and was going to the door when khushi caught his hand to stop him from leaving. He turned around to face khushi.

Khushi: did you forgive me?

Arnav: khushi there is nothing to forgive. It was a simple misunderstanding on your part. I totally understand. Will you forgive me for all the times I behaved rudely with you? I am really sorry.

Khushi melted. She hadn't expected arnav to aplogise. Again tears flooded her eyes.

Arnav: ammm, khushi, I said sorry and you are crying of all things?

Khushi just smiled and shook her head.

Arnav shook his head and stated,

Arnav: Unbelievable.

And khushi just hugged him again. She didn't know what made her hug him but she just reacted on instinct.

She then withdrew from him and apologized.

Arnav: you are one crazy girl khushi kumari gupta. Totally one of a kind.

Khushi smiled again. She liked this arnav.

They went out and met deepika and akash. Deepika had already left arjun at his school in the morning. Now she was back and smiling at khushi and arnav.

Deepika: so finally a truce has been called I guess.

Deepika said looking at arnav and khushi. And khushi nodded slightly.

Arnav: deepu, you and khushi go and wait by the car. I have something to talk with akash.

They nodded and left for the car.while inside the house akash and arnav were having a serious conversation.

Khushi and deepika went out to wait by the car.

Deepika: so what are your thoughts about bhai now?

Khushi: well he is completely different from the one I met in the hostel on our first day. And I am really glad that we can happily put all that unwanted tension behind us and be friends.

Deepika: just friends?

Deepika said while smirking slightly.

Khushi: ya. Friends only.

While in her heart she couldn't accept the fact that she wanted to be only friends with him. There was something in his eyes that she had lost her heart to.

Khushu: hai devi maiyya, what the hell am I thinking about? Atleast I cant lie to myself. I know it cant be love so darn quickly but I have to agree that he is different. His place in my life is important and I don't know why his opinion meant so much to me yesterday. Oh devi maiyya please save me from my thoughts.

But what she didn't know was fate would have this story turning into a new dimension itself.

Akash: so what have you decided bhai?

Arnav: dude, its not her mistake that she is that girl. I cant keep hurting her like this. She was completely broken yesterday. I couldn't bear it. Its not her mistake and I refuse to punish her. I'll try to be the best I can around her. She is innocent. I will try to stay as far from her as I can but I cant hurt her because of me.

Akash: I am with you bhai. You have made the right decision. But bhai why do you want to stay away from her? How will that help. Maybe its destiny that you met her. It cleared so many of our questions bhai.

Arnav: I have said before akash. I refuse to let my destiny be written by anyone else but me. yes the coincidence about her being that girl is shocking, but I think it would be best if we went our separate ways.

Arnav knew he was being too harsh of deciding to stay away from her but he was too scared of reality.

The classes had started in the morning. The professors had done their basic introductions and had gone on to explain the basic importance of groups that they had been assigned. Deepika, khushi, payal, lavanya, raj and abhay where in one group. Two random seniors would be assigned to each group to help the group in their studies as lectures were mostly held for giving out the topics needed to be discussed in various groups. As fate would have it akash and arnav, the two top students in their year were put into the same group as they worked well with each other and were handed over the responsibility of deepika and gang.

Arnav(thinking): shit. Not her group. What kind of sick humor is this.

Akash: I told you bhai. It is going to be terribly hard for you to neglect her. Now she is in our group. What can you do now bhai?

Arnav: I cant do anything akash. That's the whole damn problem.

Khushi on the other hand didn't know why but she felt quite ecstatic when she herd that arnav and akash were their group leaders. When Arrnav and akash came to the group and deepika hugged arnav telling him how lucky she was to have her brother help her. But khushi noticed an expression on arnav. That expression caused her to be become a bit uneasy and finally she felt sad. As arnav didn't at all look pleased to be given this group.

Khushi(thinking): hey devi maiiya. Why doesn't he look happy to get this group? He should be glad to get his sister's group. Wait is he still unhappy with me? does he not want to be part of this group just because I am in it? Hey devi maiyya, why is he looking so sad. khushi why are you suddenly caring as to why he feels sad? Maybe I should ask them to change my group. Atleast he will be happy.

Khushi walked towards the professor. But arnav guessed what khushi was trying to do. He hurried after khushi to stop her.

Arnav: khushi where are you going?

Khushi started to stammer keeping her gaze down.

Khushi: that-i-that-i-i-I wa-wanted ttto ttalk to professor.

Arnav came forward and khushi started moving back.

Arnav: why?

Khushi: I wanted to change my group.

Arnav: why?

Khushi; because you didn't look happy joining our group. I thought you were still angry. So it would be best to move out of the group as I was the one responsible for that fiasco.

Arnav: khushi look at me.

Khushi then looked into those beautiful eyes. Those chocolate coloured eyes which had so much depth to them. Those eyes that could speak a million words.

Arnav: khushi it wasn't your fault. The fault was mine. I misbehaved with you which led you to think bad of me. its alright. Forgive me for my behavior earlier, but seriously don't change the group because of me. if you are uncomfortable then tell me, I'll leave.

Khushi: n—no. I was quite happy that you were the head. I thought you might be—

Arnav cut her off.

Arnav: lets put the past behind us khushi. The least we can do is be friends.

Arnav said as he raised his hand for a shake.

Arnav(thinking): WHAT THE? you were the one to tell akash that you didn't want to get to know her. From where the hell did all this friendship nonsense come from you ass?

Khushi smiled brightly and shook his arm thinking arnav had indeed wanted to be friends.

Arnav felt a strange feeling as he shook her arm. He soon withdrew it to go and think in a quiet place for a while. He felt strange.

after the grueling day at college arnav and akash had returned home and was still thinking about her. He took out his diary and continued his hobby.

Akash: so bhai. I hear you proposed friendship to khushi?

Arnav: what the? How did you come to know.

Akash: come on bhai. girls gossip. Obviously everyone will come to know.

Arnav: ya. Its true. She wanted to change groups. I didn't want to come in between her and deepika's friendship. Its not right.

Akash: I guess you are right. But why not give it a chance bhai? what have you got to loose?

Arnav: everything.

Next day arnav treated everyone at th canteen for being under him and akash. It was more of a celebration. Looking at arnav smile, khushi's heat skipped a beat.

Khushi(thinking): hey devi maiyya. What is happening to me? why do I feel like this towards arnavji? Is there something here?

After college the group was hanging out at the coffee shop. They had ordered for coffee. Arnav was a bit late to meet them.

Arnav: fine I'll go order some coffee for myself.

Khushi: don't worry arnavji. I have ordered a black coffee for you. Isn't that what you always drink?

Arnav looked startled. And then hid his confusion and nodded.

Arnav(thinking): she knows what I prefer? Stop it arnav. Maybe deepu told her. Stop thinking about her 24*7. Just be casual.

They all talked as to what had happened in their respective lives and made small talk. All the time, khushi was just looking over at arnav. There was something about him that attracted her attention. Something in those eyes that felt like they talked a million words solely for her to decipher and understand. Arnav had noticed this. He quickly got up and made an excuse for work. Akash saw his brother stiffen and he announced that he would go with arnav as well.

Akash: whats the matter bhai? I can see that something is bothering you.

Arnav: nothing akash.

Akash: come on bhai. you can tell me. is it about her?

Arnav: kind of. I don't know why but I thunk she is starting to take a liking towards me.

Akash: so it's a good thing na. even I know that you kinda like her.

Arnav: but you know that its not right. I cannot be with her.

Akash: bhai. you have to forget about your fears.

Arnav: I don't fear for myself akash. I fear for her.

deepika: ahem ahem. Khushi, if you can please stop dreaming about some guy then we'll be able to talk to you.

Arnav: abhay what the hell is wrong with you. Where is all your concenteration?

Abhay looked guilty as he had asked arnav to help him in a topic but was lost in his own thoughts.

Abhay: n-nothing arnav. I was just thinking about someone.

Arnav closed his books. Smiled and asked.

Arnav: Ok. You tell me whats bothering you and after that I'll help you solve these questions.

Abhay: I have a crush on a girl. But I don't think she even notices me.

Arnav: who is it may I ask.

Abhay: its khushi. You know, khushi kumara gupta.

Arnav clenched his fists involuntarily. Anger seeped into him. He didn't know why but he didn't like the fact that abhay liked khushi.

Arnav controlled his anger.

Arnav(thinking): she isn't yours arnav. So why the hell are you getting angry. And it's a golden chance. Push her towards this guy and you'll be off the hook.

Arnav: fine. I'll help you. But promise not to tell anyone about this.

Abhay: sure arnav. Thanks. But are you confident she'll like me.

Arnav: that's upto you. What I am going to do is create a lot of chances for you and her to meet. Rest will be upto you.

Abhay: thanks arnav. You're the best.

The next few days went by in a blur as students got used to the college life and finally settled down. And then suddenly the first surprise tests were conducted. Everyone immediately got to know their respective weakness in their respective subjects. Khushi had badly flunked in maths. That was the only subject in which she always found problems studying. Finally the group leaders came to their rescue. To prepare them for the exams. Arnav was furious to know that khushi hadn't faired well in maths. Because he was the one who took care of people who needed help in maths. Even though he asked akash to take care of khushi, akash had refused because he wasn't good in maths himself. He only did good because of arnav's help.

Akash: bhai, keep that aside and just help her. Otherwise she is going to flunk the subject. And no one teaches math better than you.

Arnav: no akash. I'll get that abhay to teach her. He has scored the highest in this group. If he cant manage I'll take care of her.

Khushi was glad to know that arnav would be helping her out in the subject as she had gotten to know from deepika that arnav was rather good in maths.

So obviously it had come as a shock when arnav told her that abhay will be helping her out in maths.

That was the time she realized. Even though arnav had agreed to be friends he always pushed her away. With some excuse or the other he used to always push her away. She got confused. Why was arnav behaving like this. Had she done something else. No maybe she was thinking too much into it.

They had been invited by akash to spend the weekend at RM and after a long time they wanted a break so they all accepted. OP was glad to see so many people in the house. It was as though it had come to life with so many people in the house. Arnav was also glad to see al of them in the mansion. Though he didn't show it at all and tried to stay away from the noise and distraction.

Arjun always hung out with his arnav mamu. For him arnav was his hero.

Arjun: mamu, when I grow up I want to be exactly like you.

Arnav: no champ. You shouldn't become like me at all. You will become better than me.

Arjun: but for me you will always be the best mamu.

Arnav(thinking): no champ. I am not great. Without you all and di this life is just a curse. No one should lead a life which is such a nightmare. And specially not you.

Arjun: what are you thinking about mamu?

Arnav: why?

Arjun: I know what you are thinking about. You are thinking about mami na?

Somewhere near the door khushi's heart sank as she heard this. Mami? That meant arnav was MARRIED?
