Prologue

1857,India..

It was the last week of January. The temperature was cold but peaceful. The air of spring was arriving slowly.

It was a beautiful evening in Pratapgadh. The crowned king of the small country, Ayushman Handa and British Governor Henry Waldorf were having tea in the garden of royal palace. They were discussing on how to convince common people to learn English with their own language.

Ayushmaan Handa took a sip from his cup and looked around his garden. It was his favorite place to sit and relax. He felt the cold gentle breeze on his face. Closing his eyes he sighed. "I hope this spring brings a new era with it." He looked at Henry Waldorf who was sitting in front of him. He diverted his attention from his cup to the crowned king.

He placed his cup on the table and started to speak "this breeze always makes me feel something new will arrive. May be this time really it would arrive.." he stopped for a moment to take a look around.. "a new era."

They looked at each other and started to laugh at their own philosophy. After a few seconds Ayushman managed to stop laughing and started to speak "it was my happiest day when my Geet told me she wanted to help us. I was very proud. I always wanted her to join us. I knew it she would join us one day."

"you are a very proud father now." Henry said with a faint smile.

"yes I am.. But you seemed a little bit worried." Ayushman questioned.

"I am worried about my daughter, Blair."

"What happened with her?"

"nothing.. I was thinking she got interested to help us cause to her it was something new.. I am doubtful about how seriously she is doing it.." Henry said taking the last sip from his cup.

"I think you are worrying too much.. your daughter is only 18.. she is much brave according to her age. One day she will make you proud." he smiled and noticed the empty cup. " do you need more?"

"yes please.." Henry held his cup high when Ayushman poured tea in his cup from a red porcelain kettle then filled his own cup.

"But the people are very conservative." Henry spoke. "I really don't know how they would be convinced."

"Neither do I know how to convince them. Ayushman said clearing his throat "but only thing I know we have to convince them. Most of them don't even know reading their own language. Let alone English."

They were interrupted by a chaos made by a group of returning birds.

"It's getting dark.. where are our daughters? Still outside? They should come back now." Ayushman said in a worried tone.

"Don't worry. I have sent my coachman to bring them back."

Hearing sounds of horse foots they gazed towards the entrance door to see Henry's carriage is coming back empty. Watching them in garden the coachman saluted them and started to speak "Princess Geetanjali said she will stay with Lady Blair tonight."

Henry indicated him to go. Fixing his gaze towards the entrance gate Ayushman said "they born on same day.. they are still inseparable."

"Hmm.." Henry said looking at the gate watching nothing. "Oh! I totally forgot to say" he turned at Ayushman "the ship of Maan and Chuck is will arrive atCalcuttaport today."

"I remember." Ayushman replied. "I have arranged a saloon for them fromCalcuttarailway station. They will be here by the day after tomorrow."

After a few seconds of silence Henry spoke.. "I should leave now. It's getting dark. Thank you for the tea."

"You are most welcome." Ayushman replied with a smile.

After a few minutes Henry's carriage left the palace.
