I started watching BV since an year and it is my first (and my only) Indian serial that i follow. I found it to be entertaining in the beginning but now however - the characters are stretched so far that they just seem very unreal and i find it very hard to relate to them. The story line has deteriorated so much that i may stop watching the show.
I feel as though everybody makes mistakes at some point of their life's - however big or small, we should learn from them and move on. Nobody is learning from their mistakes here; instead there is so much focus on punishing gauri and jagat (they may deserve it but I think a miscarriage and getting debarred is a bit extreme) .
For example - Gauri
major mistake one --> marries a married man
major mistake two--> starts lying and acting irrationally (may be due to denial of the truth and insecurity)
(punishment) inhumane act 1--> miscarriage of a child (if it happens it is likely to be self created - driving, stress, ect)
major mistake four -->instead of working through the problem rationally, complains to the dean on jagya and may perhaps leave jagya in the future.
Life Lessons learnt --> absolutely none
Now jagya -
marries another woman, is irrational and unpredictable, is not clear about his goals or priorities, very selfish and inconsiderate (is considerate only when it suits him), etc, etc
but despite all this not letting him complete his education i think is too much of a punishment, his future may get ruined. I would much rather him understand his mistakes, feel bad about it (regret it) and then move on with his life (baby, Gauri and him), i think having gauri as a wife is punishment enough! Balika Vadhu is turning out to be a real sob story :(
