Part 10:
After waving off Lavanya and Payal, Khushi turned to see Arnav go back into his room with long, purposeful strides. 'I'll HAVE to explain that it's him I love...' Khushi thought, as she walked behind him.
But her Babuji called her, and she had to answer it. He didn't know anything about her staying with the Raizadas, and she didn't find it necessary for him to know it too. So she just told him all about how her internship was coming up and told him she was fine. She had reached Arnav's room when her phone rang again and this time it was Lavanya. She started giving long lectures on how to get ASR interested in her.
Most of the facts she said about Arnav were wrong. But then, Arnav had that mysterious air around him, giving people false illusions that they knew him well. Whereas the fact was no one would ever be able to figure him out, until and unless he allowed it himself. So had he allowed her to do the same? 'Well. . . Whether he likes it or not, that's his problem!' she thought and shrugged.
Lavanya was still blabbering, Khushi realized and ended the call as she entered Arnav's room. He was busy working, and Khushi wondered whether this was the right time to talk.
Arnav tried a lot to concentrate, trying to push off the unnamed feeling which was nagging him continuously. He was about to shut his laptop and head off to the poolside when he felt her. And as if it was her cue, she entered and stood there, looking at him apprehensively.
Arnav stood up and Khushi walked to him, with him looking at her silently. When Khushi stood in front of him, she shuffled her feet, suddenly nervous. Arnav cleared his throat and when she looked at him, he raised his left eyebrow, trying to be nonchalant, while he was almost dying to know who he was. Who was the man whom Khushi loved? The thing he hated the most was the tinge of hope in the back of his mind, that maybe. . . . Just maybe. . . . It was. . . . . Him?! 'What the?!' Arnav said to himself. Where had all this come from?!
Her phone rang, and she clicked her tongue and cut it. Whoever was, that had called her, had irritated her.
"You know, Arnav? Realizing that you're in love isn't the toughest thing. At least not for me. Holding back on the love you want to show to that person in your life. Hiding it from him is very difficult for me." Khushi said as she looked into his eyes.
Arnav hadn't realized it himself, but he held his breath as he stared back into her warm eyes, which were shining with an emotion which was so close to love. Arnav couldn't believe it. She loved him. She loved HIM??!!
"Arnav. . . I love. . ." Khushi was saying when her phone rang again. She was glowering at it when Arnav spoke, "Its ringing for the second time. May be its important, pick it."
Khushi shook her head as she objected, "But. . ."
Arnav nodded reassuringly as he pressed her to pick her phone.
"What?" Khushi muttered into the phone, knowing fully well what Lavanya intended to tell her. "Trust me, Khushi! ASR is too tough to tame! You'll need help!" Lavanya tried to convince her friend, who was angry by now.
"Alright. Lavanya? I've had enough! I don't need any help! If he likes me, he'll come to me!" Khushi said through gritted teeth, before she cut the call. She felt so annoyed at Lavanya at the moment. Yes. She knew Lavanya meant to help. But honestly, if she was being anything at all, she was a hindrance at the moment. Khushi was in no mood to tell anything to anyone right now. And the last thing she felt like doing was to tell Arnav that she loved him!
Arnav, on the other hand, was now actually gaping at Khushi now. 'So this is her anger?!!' Arnav thought as he looked at Khushi's chest heaving as she gritted her teeth and frowned in utmost anger. All these days, when he had seen her angry, she hadn't been angry at all then! She had been holding out on him. The fact that Khushi could be angrier than him seemed to strangely impress him, and she looked so. . . . . . So sexy when she was angry. The cute and adorable innocence when she was calm was totally replaced with this avatar of her's and Arnav found it so irresistible. Whoever had called her had managed to make her very angry. "Good night!" Khushi muttered all of a sudden, and was stomping out, when Arnav realized that she hadn't told him what she was here to tell.
"Khushi, wait." Arnav said, as he covered the distance between them in two long strides and stood in front of her. Her jaws were still clenched. He couldn't help but run his finger across her jaw line and smiled when she relaxed under his touch. By the time his finger reached her chin, she sighed and her frown disappeared. He gently tipped her chin up, as he asked, "What happened? Who was it on the phone?" Khushi sighed once more as she muttered "Lavanya Kashyap. . . ."
Arnav nodded in understanding, as he justified her anger to them both, "She can be very irritating when she wants to be. . ."
Khushi snorted as she replied, "Tell me about it!!" her lower lip jutting out in annoyance about her friend.
Arnav stared at her lips, and bent quickly to peck, surprising them both. More like, shocking them both!
Khushi jerked her head back as she stared at him, her anger, totally vanishing. "Good night. . ." Arnav said, as if nothing had happened at all. If she hadn't heard the smugness in his voice, she might have actually thought that his lips weren't on her's a moment ago!
Khushi stepped back and almost stumbled out of the door, making Arnav utter a concerned "Careful!" before she went out of his vision and he turned away and smiled to himself as he shook his head. And was surprised when he felt a pair of arms go around him and he turned his head to see the top of Khushi's head, as she rested her head on his shoulder from behind. His hands went on top of hers as she turned her face so that her lips grazed his neck, as she whispered, "Good Night!", and as quickly as she had come and hugged him, she left too, leaving a tongue-tied Arnav behind.
---ooo---
The next day, Khushi woke up with a smile, after having a very sweet dream. In her dream, Arnav and she had been strolling on a beach, with Khushi talking her head off and Arnav listening to her intently and very silently. And then. . . . And then he had started doing. . . Things! Things that she had only seen happen in a few movies. His hands had. . . . Khushi blushed remembering her dream, and got ready. With a spring in her step, she came downstairs, wishing everybody a pleasant morning. Her eyes were looking for Arnav, when Anjali said, "Chotey has gone to AR."
Khushi frowned as she thought this out. He had waited yesterday. Then what was different today? 'Could he have felt awkward?! Tu bhi na, Khushi?! You had to hug him last night?!! What would he have thought?!' Khushi reprimanded herself. But then, he was the first who had started it all with his kiss. On her lips! Naturally, Khushi had thought, she was allowed to at least hug him.
Shyam noticed the smile disappear from Khushi's face, and felt bad for the poor thing. "Don't worry, Khushi. Kuch kaam aagaya hoga. Or else he'd have waited for you." He said, trying to make her feel better. Khushi smiled and nodded her head, but her behavior was a little aloof throughout the breakfast. As if she had parked her body here, but her thoughts were elsewhere. And Anjali and Shyam knew where exactly her thoughts would be.
Khushi finished her breakfast, and as she drove towards AR, she thought, 'Good for me he didn't take me with him. Or else Lavanya would be nagging me today too! And I've to make sure Arnav doesn't feel awkward around me. Maybe he doesn't have any feelings for me, and that's why he's avoiding me. I should tell him that I love him. And I'm not going to go all psychopathic if he doesn't love me back!'
Khushi laughed at the thought of her going mental, and people around her watched her as if she was nuts, which she easily ignored and walked towards AR from the parking lot.
Khushi entered Arnav's chamber and found a magnificent female, almost sprawled on Arnav, who sat on his chair comfortably. Khushi didn't know how to react, and the model (which Khushi's brain recognized as Sana Banerjee) looked at Khushi disdainfully. Her eyes assessed Khushi as she woke up from her seat, which also happened to be the person Khushi loved, and bent seductively towards Arnav, intending to give a view of her almost nil breasts, making Khushi snort in disgust, and planted a kiss on his cheek before she left, promising to meet him at the party tonight.
Khushi's fists had clenched, and her mouth had snapped shut when she saw Sana kiss Arnav. She pulled her shoulder away when Sana neared the door, and as soon as she felt the glass door close behind her, Khushi looked at Arnav who was staring amusedly at Khushi.
She stomped angrily towards him, pulled out a tissue from the tissue box on top of Arnav's table and wiped his cheek, where there were lipstick marks of that damned model. Arnav waited for her to start ranting as she did, when she was angry. But nothing came. When she was sure that there were none of the mark left on his cheek, she turned away and left the room.
"Khushi!" Arnav called and her hands stilled on the handle of the door, as she was pulling the door open.
"There's this party tonight I am invited to. You're going with me." Arnav said and saw Khushi's shoulders relax. She just nodded, and left his cabin. It was later that day, when she sat with Lavanya for lunch that she came to know why Arnav had hurried to AR that morning. Sana, AR's lead model at present, was apparently a b*tch. And she had demanded Arnav's attention this morning, and ASR had to oblige, because he couldn't obviously find another model at the end moment. 'So that's why he left! Not because. . .' Khushi thought, and sighed in relief, and told Lavanya to help her with a dress for going out to the party. And as expected, Lavanya was super-duper excited and agreed immediately. Assuring Khushi that ASR would have a tough time keeping his hands to himself after seeing Khushi. . . . . .

Precap: If Khushi was a cartoon, anybody could make out the squiggly lines, indicating steam, coming out of her ears, and her face going a tomato red. Khushi tripped on purpose, and toppled her glass, making sure she had spilled all its contents out. And she looked up at Arnav, as his mouth hung open. He stared at all the juice on his suit and then at her incredulously for a second, before anger filled up in those caramel eyes, turning them to a darker shade of brown.
