Part 1:
Khushi sat on a chair near the door, waiting for Lavanya, and her eyes not leaving Arnav even for a second. As if she'd bolt if Arnav so much as even made any kind of a movement. Arnav chuckled as soon as she thought she'd run away. Khushi was about to ask him what was so funny, when the doorbell rang. She opened the door and hugged Lavanya tightly, who in return hugged her back.
Lavanya had started to get worried about Khushi. It had been four days since Lavanya had brought her to London, and since then Khushi had locked herself up, asking to be left alone for a while. Lavanya didn't know what the problem was, that Khushi had decided to leave everything and come here. But she had a vague idea that it should have been too disturbing. Even to a happy-go-lucky kind of a person such as Khushi.
And honestly, Lavanya had been expecting a puffy eyed Khushi today, who'd still not have stopped crying. But Khushi seemed to be holding it all up quiet well. Lavanya noticed Khushi glancing at the reclining chair in the corner of the living room repeatedly. Lavanya looked at the empty chair and at Khushi and she asked, "Don't you like that chair?" Khushi stared at Lavanya's face as if
she was searching for something and Lavanya stared back, confusedly.
Khushi had been sure Lavanya could spot Arnav if he had been actually here. So was it true then? Was she hallucinating? She looked at Arnav and he gave a 'duh!!' look to her, making Khushi tug a surprised Lavanya to the kitchen. She started preparing tea, and Lavanya sat at the small table meant for two, not so sure as to how Khushi seemed so calm and composed. She started thinking about the fateful day when Khushi had asked her help. Of course Lavanya had immediately helped her.
Khushi had wanted to get away from her family, and Lavanya didn't want her only true friend to be alone at such a time, especially when she didn't know what the problem was, that had made Khushi take such a major decision. So she had brought Khushi with her. Khushi was yet to answer Lavanya's question.
Lavanya's train of thoughts were broken when Khushi handed a cup of tea to her, and took the other seat, staring into the cup and cradling the hot cup of tea with both her hands, enjoying the warmth of it on her cold palms. She knew Lavanya might be expecting answers. And she didn't really want to keep Lavanya in the dark, given that she had helped her so much. Khushi lifted her eyes to meet the concerned eyes of her friend.
"Are you alright, Khushi?" Lavanya asked, and Khushi nodded. "Thank you so much, Lavanya. You have no idea how much this meant to me. . ." Khushi said, and Lavanya noticed how mature Khushi seemed while talking. For one, Khushi spoke in fluent English now. And the naughty smile that adorned not just her lips, but also reached her eyes, was nowhere to be found. "What happened??" Lavanya asked, to which Khushi replied, "I. . . . I will start from when you left. . . ."
Lavanya nodded, and somehow knew something really bad must have happened. 'To make Khushi so. . . . . . un-Khushi-ish!' She thought as she braced herself.
Khushi wondered how she could even start explaining the mess that her life had become. 'All thanks to you, Arnav Singh Raizada!!' she thought, and saw Arnav saunter into the kitchen and lean against the refrigerator. Khushi looked at Lavanya once more, to see whether Lavanya had seen Arnav standing in the same room. Apparently she hadn't. Khushi sighed and said, "I was married."
Lavanya's eyes popped wide open as she gave an excited smile and asked, "Really?! To whom?? The same guy you had been engaged to, before I left??"
Khushi shook her head in negation and answered, "To his brother-in-law. . ." She passed an accusing glare towards Arnav and he had the grace to blush and shuffle his foot nervously. "Was it someone I knew or met?" Lavanya asked. Khushi gave a stern nod, "You knew him very well. . . . . I was married to Arnav Singh Raizada. . . . ." She said and waited for Lavanya to react.
"ASR??!!" Lavanya gasped, and after a second clapped her hands once before she exclaimed, "I always knew he had a thing for you!!"
Khushi snorted derisively before she said in a sarcastic voice, "Hardly! Our's was a contract marriage. . ."
Lavanya blinked in confusion before she exclaimed once again, "You were engaged to. . . . Jijaji??!! Shyam??!! But. . . . how?! And?? CONTRACT MARRIAGE??!!"
Khushi soon explained how Shyam had betrayed her whole family by staying at their house as a paying guest. "I can't believe this!! He betrayed all of you?! And how did Di take this?!" Lavanya asked, very concerned for Anjali, who had been like her own sister.
"I'll get to that later. . . . And what you said about Arnav Singh Raizada having a thing for me?? I had thought so too. . . . . It was my jiji's marriage, and he pulled me away and laid a condition in front of me, that I should marry him, and that the marriage would be contractual in nature, and
it would last for six months. I had to agree, or he'd cancel my jiji's wedding." Khushi muttered through gritted teeth.
To say Lavanya was flabbergasted was an understatement. And she knew ASR could totally do such a thing. But "WHY??!!" was her next question. She kept silent as Khushi continued in a dead voice, her eyes staring blankly into the tea cup, "My family disowned me. Both my family and the Raizadas behaved like I had committed a sin. And there I was, married to a man, and being abused, not even knowing why I was being punished the way I was."
"Oh God, Khushii!!" Lavanya whispered.
"Yeah. Oh God." Khushi murmured in the same dead tone.
"Did you. . . . Did you lo. . . love him?? ASR???" Lavanya asked, and watched as Khushi's eyes shot up to meet her's.
Lavanya saw pools of hurt and anguish in those honey-brown orbs, which always had so much of happiness and mischief and warmth, even after being treated so badly by life. Khushi lowered her gaze within a second, and slowly nodded her head, her lips cast down in sorrow.
Lavanya felt her eyes prickling with tears. Tears for her friend, who had gone through so much. First getting betrayed by one man, and then getting forcefully married to a man whom she supposedly loved, and who didn't know a thing about emotions and humanity. 'No, I don't believe that! ASR isn't inhuman. . . .' she thought, but another look at Khushi made her doubt her assertion.
Khushi's shoulders were slumped, as if she was tired of fighting. Tired of living. Lavanya's heart went out to her friend, not being able to see her like that. "Alright! Enough answers for one day. We're going for a walk, Chamkili. Get dressed. I've brought you a salwaar kameez. You can wear it
for now. We'll go shopping too, if you're upto it. . . ." Lavanya said, standing up and walking around the table to Khushi and pulled her up.
Khushi hugged her friend, a sheen of moisture sheathing her eyes. She wondered if it hadn't been for Lavanya, where would have she gone? "Hey. . . Come now. . ." Lavanya pulled back and cupped Khushi's cheek. "I don't know how and when, Khushi. But its going to be okay. And you'll always have me. You know that, don't you?" Khushi nodded her head, her eyes lowered, not wanting to show her weakness, even to Lavanya.
Once Khushi left to get ready, Lavanya came to the living room, and sat on the couch as she wondered, how ASR was taking all this. She thought of all the times when ASR had done something either for Khushi, or because Khushi had told him to. Now it all made sense. 'So, if that was the case, why hurt Khushi, and in turn, hurt himself in such a manner?! I'm sure ASR was hurt by seeing Khushi in so much pain. . . .' Lavanya wondered, suddenly feeling very angry on the man, whom she had loved once.
Khushi came out, dressed. But she looked too frail and weak. Redeeming Khushi would be her first priority. 'And I think I know just the right person' Lavanya thought, smiling smugly to herself. "One minute, Chamkili. . ." She said, pulling out her phone and entered the kitchen as she dialed a number. "Hello, Aditya? I want you to come to Hyde Park. . . . Like, NOW!!"
She pocketed her phone and came out of the room, grinning from ear to ear, thinking, 'If Aditya was able to heal me, he could definitely do it again for Khushi. . . . . . . . .'

Precap:His breathing quickened as he felt the searing agony take over his whole being. It had been like this since the day he had killed what could have been with his Khushi, with his very own hands. He clenched the steering wheel so tightly, his knuckles stood out against his skin. His eyes shut tight as if he was trying to ward off the pain. Pain as if he was being burnt at the stake. For a moment, he doubted if even being burnt would be as painful as being left by his Khushi felt.
P.S: You may have guessed by now, that I'm taken with the name 'Aditya'!! 😆
In fact, I might go in search of a guy named Aditya just like Marisa Tomel did, in the movie 'Only You'.
And I know that you're having hell LOTTUVA questions!! 😉 😆
All I have to say is. . . . . .
Patience, ladies!! 😆 😆 😉
