chapter 39
after coming out of the office building, geet cried her heart out walking over the lonely roads. after going on for a while she fell to her knees unable to stand the pain constricted in her heart. she felt like a knife has been stabbed directly into her chest. she cried, cried and cried until the tears dries up her eyes. she searched her bag for her phone, dialed to brij,
brij: hello?
geet: bhaiyya, can u plz pick me up?
brij: teek hai, where are u??
she gave the address to him and before brij could ask any further qns, she cut the call. brij was in an important meeting with his client, but when it came to his princess everything else seemed waste. he excused himself from the meeting and rushed towards the elevator. his clients were kind enough to understand that something was wrong and obliged with him. brij knew something brutal had happened, something enough to break his little princess into shreds. he rushed to his car drove to the address, just hoping, geet would be alright. by the time he reached the place where geet was, she was lying unconcious on the roadside. he rushed towards her, took her into his arms, and tried waking her up.
brij: geet, geet? wake up geet...
he couldn't think what he could do, he lifted her up and made her lie on the backseat of his Endeavor. he rounded off and got into the driver seat and rove to the hospital. he worried as hell and before asking maan about what happened, he wanted to hear out everything geet had to say or rather reason out to him as to what happened? he had never seen geet this way and the more he thought about it, it only made him tense. In the hospital, the doctor told him that she was just exhausted and she'll be fine in a few hours of time. by the time he got back home, it was late adn everyone had slept. he thanked god for it. he dint want anybody to know what had happened??? when he had left office he had made sure call his family and inform he was going to be late and geet is with him. none questioned him and he was glad that he dint have to explain anything and more than that he would be happy if he dint have to explain anything to his family.
he carried geet to her room, while she slept in his arms. he made her confortable in her bed and looked at his princess's face, she looked so pale and her cheeks were stained with dried tears. something heart wrenching had certainly happened. there was no way his geet could break so easily. it only made him worry, the more he thought about it. he decided to stay by her side tonight and walked to the large couch infront of the bed to rest.
it was almost 3.30am in the morning when brij was woken up by the muffled sobs. he got up and rushed beside geet and put a hand on her head...
brij: geet? kya hua???
geet obviosly hadn't noticed brij in her room and as the memories of last night crashed over her, she had started crying not even noticing that she was safely in her room. she turned towards brij after wiping her tears.
geet: bhaiyya aap yahan kya kar rahe ho??? aur main ghar kaise pahuchi???
brij could see the confusion on her face in the night lamp running in the room. he sighed.
brij: did u forget calling me to pick u up yesterday night?
geet: sry i forgot...
brij: are u hungry???
geet: no , i am fine...
brij maintained silence, he knew geet would speak up on her own. he just let his hand brush thru her hair slowly.
geet: bhaiyya, aap ko kuch nahi puchna ki kal kya hua???
geet looked upto her brother, her saviour, her confidante with tears in her eyes.
brij: should i ask???
geet: waise tho puchna chahiye, but i know u wont, and u will wait until i tell it to u myself.
brij: when u know it why are u even bothering to ask?
geet: i dont know.
brij: no matter what happens geet, i wont change not for u atleast.
geet smiled a little at her brother's words. it made her feel better even if it was just a little bit.
geet: i know, u will never change. i love u bhaiyya.
brij:i love u too princess.
geet: i guess i owe u a pretty good explanation for my behaviour lately and for all that happened yesterday.
brij: u sure do but only if u want to and u can always take ur time on that...
geet nodded her in disagreement.
geet: i cannot make wait anymore, i think it's time for u to know it all. i have kept enough secrets from u already.
brij: i know but i am certain u did it for a reason. it's not like i dont know my sister, my little princess.
brij smiled at her. she got up from her sleeping position and hugged her brother. brij couldn't have been happier abt it. he gently hugged her back. when they broke away from the hug, geet sighed. it was time for her to spill the beans. she got up from the bed and walked towards the window. brij just watched her.
geet: do u remember the day when came home from college from a party and told u about a very kind and generous guy i had seen in the dhaba???
geet turned to face her brother on the bed. brij just nodded.
geet: i had just stopped there since my car got punctured. i was waiting for the mechanic to fix it. thats when i saw him. feeding the little kids, who wroked there with a genuine smile on his face. i knew then and there that he was a kind hearted person. his kindness was radiating all around him. the way he laughed with them, played with them and everything he did to make them all happy. i just couldn't take my eyes of him. it was wierd that even after my car was repaired, i kept watching him. it was like i was attracted to him on one go. like i had "love at first sight" experience. well that was just the beginning. the new feeling just grew stronger and stronger each time he was on the television, winning the Businessman of the year award or adopting the kids at the dhaba. he just made it all more easier for me to love him bro.
geet looke up at her brother, only to see him lightly smile at her. some how sitting there brij knew where this was going but the only thing that bothered was what had happened that changed all that yesterday night?? geet continued...
geet: it was MAAN bro. i couldn't believe i would work with him. i knew he was a bit arrogant of sorts when it comes to work but otherwise a gentleman. i was determined to make him fall in love with me without even knowing who i am.
she explained all the things that she did with maan. and it only made her happy to know how much irritated he felt when he couldn't find out who she was or let alone not figure out her name. geet continued...
geet: everything was going smooth until the night of valentine's day. i dint know maan and heer were together. i never thought abt maan being in a relationship. i dint get into any background check on him so it was solely my mistake. i dint want to be an obstacle in my best friend's love story. so i decided to back off and get out maan's life. i even wanted to resign but somehow, i couldn't do it today. but i will, soon enough. i cannot stay around him with a broken heart, not loving him anymore. this is what i had not told u bro. i hope u understand.
brij smiled, got up from the bed and went to engulf his princess in a hug. she just leaned in, wanting one. while geet silently cried, brij couldn't stop thinking abt maan. as far as brij knew, maan was very much single. something wasn't right and only maan could explain all that. he couldn't wait for th sun to rise so he could call up maan.
