Varun and Shweta pair up![Ehsa]

Two versatile actors, Varun and Shweta Kawatra come together the first time for a comedy show titled Sohni Mahiwal for Doordarshan. The show is a half hour primetime weekly comedy show produced by UTV and directed by Rajesh Puri.

Interestingly both the actors are trying their hand at comedy after playing serious roles on television.
"The story is about a couple and their day to day quarrels; perhaps the issues every family goes through. I play a regular guy who works for a government organization and he's got a cool sense of humour but loses his temper easily as well,"says Varun Badola who plays Suresh Mahiwal and has two more projects in hand (Ek Chabbi Padoss Mein and Arranged Marriage- shooting for which is yet to begin). Varun was last seen on Nach Baliye on Star One with his better half Rageshwari.

"I play this housewife who is a typical sardarni from Karol Bagh (in Delhi) in the show. It's a fun role as it's a situational comedy and its a weekly so it is pretty convenient for now. Also we shot for a pilot episode for the show three years

back and recently the show got sanctioned so the unit has begun shooting again for the show," says Shweta Kawatra who plays Sohni in the show and has recently completed a children's film and will soon be traveling abroad for shows during Navratri. The actor is not willing to take up any daily shows as she is busy doing up her house along with her mother besides her show Current Bollywood on Sony also keeps her busy.

The actors began shooting for the show last month(in June)and so far ten episodes have been shot, for the show which went on air on 27 June.
