I shd say all parts r amazing... š Njoyed reading it...š³
now, i am jst thinking out loud... šthe killer, either had a neglected childhood or lost a child due to marital problems... i feel it mite hv been a neglected traumatic childhood... coz, in both the cases(assuming that its the same killer), parents r almost separated, one parent who is successful n always busy wid professional lyf and the odr having an extra marital affair... the kid is neglected... its as if the killer is trying to prove a point, warn odrs... the killer has a soft spot fr the child bt anger and hatred towards the parent...
It's interesting to note that you bring in parents' relationship here and how that is affecting their child. And this might be the trigger for the killer to kill the one who was at home. And what does that make the killer? Did he stalk his victims? Did he know very well where they would be and what they would be doing on a specific day?another option, wat if the killer had gone thru a similar trauma ver he was the kid bt survived the accident, ver he sees sumthing similar n it was his own parent who was responsible fr it... this cd affect his mental state...n I m nt ruling out the option of the killer being a woman...now to the question as to y dey dnt scream... lets say the mother was asleep ven the child opened the door n got attacked... if kid dies on the spot wid the first attack then he wdnt scream rite? n after waking up the mother assumed that the kid is still alive den she wdnt call out fr help, out of shock and fear fr her child's life...
Answers will not come in soon :-) I better not talk about it!cnt it b possible that the mother opened the door coz she was aware that the person wd b cuming home at that particular time?š¤
Chapter 8:
"Maybe they did scream and no one could listen. I mean with windows closed and the distance between two houses and if the neighbors were indulging themselves in their dens watching television or something, they couldn't have heard a thing," Emily said and bit her lip. Geet nodded.
"I need to know whose room is that," Geet said pointing to the newly lit room across the property.
"I'll find that out tomorrow morning. But how is that going to help us?" Satya asked making a note in his little book.
"Whoever lives there, knows something." Geet said.
"How can you be so sure?" Satya asked.
"They did turn on the light now, didn't they?" Geet replied. Satya looked at her with confusion marring his expression. "If something was going on in this room on the night of murder and if someone was really there in that room, they may have an idea," she replied.
Emily threw a glance at her and asked, 'Are you sure about this?'
"I need to ask Emily even if I am going to sound stupid," Geet said frankly. Emily shrugged.
"Let's continue this tomorrow. It's already quite late," Maan announced.
"I need to see the boy's room tomorrow," Geet said following the three.
"Whatever you want Dr. Geet," Maan said.
Emily fell behind Maan and Satya and walked in step with Geet.
"Why does he switch between calling you Geet or Dr. Geet?" Emily asked as they waited for Satya and Maan to get the jeep at the front gate. Geet grinned at that question.
"He knows that it annoys me a little. I prefer being just Geet and adding 'Dr.' in front of my name makes feelā¦I don't knowā¦odd?" She said. Emily chuckled. "It's just that I have known him for so long you know? Even before I got my doctorate." Geet replied shaking her head at an old memory.
"When did you first meet him?" Emily asked, sliding her hands in her pocket. She cocked her head upwards and allowed the night's chilly breeze to sweep her hair from her shoulders.
"In police station," Geet replied.
"Which case was it?" Emily asked not looking at her.
"Oh, it wasn't a case," Geet said shaking her head. Emily quit staring at the night sky and looked at her. "We were seventeen back then," Geet said.
"You two were caught doing naughty stuff?" Emily asked blatantly grinning and wriggled her eyebrows.
"Good God no!" Geet exclaimed at Emily's implication.
"Then were youā¦"
"Stop. Stop. Stop." Emily stopped and looked at Geet who was sporting a crimson blush and wide eyes. "What?" She asked.
"I was in police station checking out on my father's murder and Maan had come to meet the inspector in charge. The inspector and Maan's father are close friends," Geet said.
"That is so sweet. So you two are friends since then?"
"We didn't become friends' till we started working together few years ago. My father had died and I was left in care of my aunt. I had a lot to deal with back then and making new friends wasn't on my list of priority. I ran to Maan often as it turned out that his father and my father ran in same circles. He became a familiar face over the years."
"His father is a lawyer, isn't he?" Emily asked.
"He is. I think he has moved to tackling administration conundrums of his firm than a case these days. He is a nice man." Geet replied.
"I wonder why Maan came to this profession though," Emily said. Geet looked at her with a raised eyebrow. "He comes from a very well off background and he could have done whatever he wanted. Yet he chose this profession." Emily said slowly. She halted for a moment and turned to look at Geet again. "Come to think of it, so are you. You could have chosen any career path you wanted yet you chose to follow the legacy of your father."
"What are you implying Emily?"
"What are you two searching for?" Emily asked.
Before Geet could fully recover from the impact of Emily's question, Maan and Satya had arrived.
To be continued.

Sooks, its a miracle my heart didn't jump out and die when Geet screamed. The possibility of it being a serial murderer is what i have been feeling since the beginning, the reasons you provided was just what was needed :) so no Mr. Guha, pesky neighbors, or such, on my suspect's list.and definitely not Maan.the pace is so engrossing, continue soon !
