Author's Note : I am back with a one shot. And yeah, its again with a amal-ified randomness. 🤔 I guess if I go like this, I will be forced to tell that the crow is while and sun is cold. But I liked it and there are many layers to this piece. At first its supposed to be a light read. However, like all other works of mine, I have kept in mind some layers that ought to be read in between lines. But, I admit I have doubts in my abilities to convey them properly and that's why I want you guys to let me know how to is. BTW I am posting this OS in three version AR, Arhi and MG, just so that my gallery is actually standing to what I wrote in the first page. [Scroll down for the last two versions. Each version is a different post] And yeah, there are flaws but it's fiction and I hope I am forgiven. Please, its silly and just a piece to prove my randomness, so if you are a serious reader, I suggest you stop here itself. Love ya all. Enjoy!

Armaan & Ridhima Version

I felt my saliva oozing and dripping by the ends of the mouth. My palms clasped each other playfully and my knees bend naturally up in the air. I kept myself busy staring at the only material in my vicinity, the ceiling, watching the fan turn and swirl, much to my amusement. My baby heart fantasized at the illusion the fan created when it swung in circles. I heard the room's door open and moments later the nurse took a check on me. I gifted my sweetest chuckles to her and all her cruel hands gave in return was a hard pinch on my cheeks. She didn't wait to see the scowl form on my face. Later, when she left, the room turned dark. Not in any mood to sleep and deprived of my mother's warmth for another few more hours, I simply did what I did best: dwell into the mysteries of my limbs.

Boredom hit me badly after each minute and with huge efforts I turned onto my sides, facing all the other babies in the room, sleeping peacefully. I cursed them mentally for being so oblivious. Why couldn't I be like that? But then again, I enjoyed being the odd one. Time had elapsed and so my movements. The ceiling had to suffice my boredom.

Then, something caught my attention. Incapable of making words out of the thin line of my lips, I gasped. But my tiny vocal chords had a limit. I fell quiet and watched as the shadow in white, swayed fluidly through the cradles n the room stamping what seemed to be a paper on the forehead. It looked painless for none of them awoke from their sleeps and much to my shock, the paper would simply disappear as though the forehead had dissolved it. I panicked and clutched my soft blue blankets with my pod sized fingers as the figure seemed to move towards me.

The lady with lustrous hair shrieked upon seeing me. I wonder why because compared to me, she looked like a giant. Though she had a nice body and that brilliant white gown she wore with the spiky thing on her head. Was that a crown? She was just about to stamp the paper onto my head carelessly when she looked at me and scared me with her shrieks.

"You.. are.. awake?" she mumbled noiselessly, looking around with hope that her loud sounds before had not awaken anyone.

"I can't sleep with my eyes open, can I?" I said sarcastically. She raised her eyebrows and gave me a look.

"Oh kiddo! You know you are the only baby in 100 centuries to have stayed awake in this hour," she said matter- of-factedly and annoyed.

I pondered upon that. "So?" I asked her monotonously.

"God! Now what do I do?" she said, more to herself.

"Why? What's the problem?" I asked, realizing how odd it was when all we both were doing were asking questions and moving to newer questions without answers.

"You saw me, that is the problem," she said, slapping her hands on her hips.

"I still don't get it, lady," I said.

"Look kiddo, no is supposed to see me. It's part of my job to, you know, be invisible." Her eyes balls rolled dramatically here and there as she spoke and I found it attractive. Actually it's my husband's job. But he had to take care of our kids and so he sent me, telling that I can do it and it's just going to go smoothly and here I am, screwing up the first time itself."

"You are telling me that your husband used to stamp our foreheads with disappearing paper every night on every new baby?", I asked for confirmation.

"Oh You are good!," she appreciated me with a huge grin.

"Hmmm." I paused.

"Could you do me a favour," she asked me.

"Sure."

"Just don't scream while I place this. It's going to be gentle," she said, sheepishly smiling at me and waving a similar paper in my head.

"Gentle! Oh please! I saw how you did it on others. I still don't get how they are such deep sleep to not yell at that slap of yours," I said, nonchalantly.

"Please! Please! Please!" she begged me, pissing my ears of her constant buzzes. My first study on the opposite gender begins now.

"No!"

"I promise I will make it nice and simple," she bargained with me.

"NO!" I said with finality.

She glared at me started walking up and down, looking onto the other side, mumbling to herself. I chuckled enjoying the sight.

"Why can't you just go without using that on me? What difference is it going to make? It's anyways going to vanish, right?" I negotiated.

"No, I can't!" she sprung at me. "Look, you don't understand. This is important. The whole world stands on what I am doing."

I laid perplexed on my cradle. "What the hell do you mean?"

She drew in a huge breath, "Kay! I guess I have to tell you!" I beamed and nodded my head vigorously.

"Kay! My husband is what the worldly call 'Cupid'. I am his wife. We make soul mates. You know the person who is to be with you forever and ever and ever and ever -"

"I get the point," I said irritated. She frowned.

"So, when a baby is born, we go around placing the name of the person destined to them on their foreheads, so that their minds know when they meet the right one. As in, the name will be there in their earliest memories and it will relive only when the other he or she comes in play."

"That's nice and... erm romantic. That's the word, right," I asked, pleased at my new knowledge.

"Yup."

"So you were going to tell my so called 'mind' about my future girl." I beamed. She nodded, uninterested.

"Then tell me who is she?" I asked her, excited to the core.

"What gives you the idea I am actually going to oblige that? You know I have already broken like a dozen laws seeing you and then telling you this much. I am so not inviting more trouble for myself," she exclaimed.

"Fine! Let me rephrase my words! You can either tell me, or you can go and enjoy without 'branding' me," I said, challenging.

She 'HAWed' and my hidden and meek testosterone kicked in glory.

"Are you for real, kid?"

"Look who's talking." I fired back at her, laughing to myself.

"Okay! All right! HMPH," she stopped choking at her words. She gulped hard.

"Name please," I said, sweetly.

"Ridhima," she whispered.

I considered. Armaan & Ridhima. Hmm. Sounds good.

"When will I meet her?" I asked enthusiastically.

"Come On, I am not Venus. I am Lady Cupid. I don't know all that," she pointed.

My face fell disappointed.

"Can I just imprint this and leave," she said, looking at a tiny clock that fit in the pleats of her gown.

A promise was a promise and since I was incapable of using my motor skills at the moments, I had but to content her. She smiled weakly and punched my paper on my forehead. From the corners, I saw the name 'Ridhima' glittering in golden and silver.

"And now you are leaving," I stated.

"Erm. I actually have tiny job left," she said, batting her eyelashes wickedly.

"What?"

"You should forgive me. I need to delete this memory of yours," she said, victoriously.

"You can do that?" I pounced, shocked.

"As Lady Cupid I do that right. Just to use in emergency."

"No! Please don't! I am going to tell anyone! I promise," I said, panicking at the possible loss of a memory much more worth than a fan in the ceiling.

"Sorry! My hands are tied," she waved me a pair of apparently free palms.

Before I could protest further, a glow emitted from her body and I was hypnotized for a moment. I saw her give me a genuine smile "I will see you again when it is time," she whispered. And then she touched her soft fingers on me.

I was lying in my piece of steel watching the fan, rotating slowly in the dim light.
