Actor Ajay Krish, who plays Sid on Zee TV's Mamta, passed out on Friday after an overdose of painkillers. The actor was suffering from a severe toothache. Krish found the pain unbearable and was forced to consume painkillers in order to continue shooting.
"I was experiencing severe toothache which simply refused to subside. It was getting worse and there was this scene I had to shoot. I just couldn't do it and gave five to seven retakes, something that rarely happens. So I popped four painkillers in about three hours," says Ajay. "I didn't realise that it could have such an impact. After a while, my blood pressure dropped and I just passed out. I woke up after a long time. My eyes and cheeks felt heavy and I was also running a temperature. I didn't know that common painkillers like Crocin and Combiflam could have this effect. But nonetheless, work continued."
The actor's wisdom tooth has been the cause of all trouble. "It has grown and needs to be extracted. I have been planning to visit the doctor but couldn't because I am shooting for almost 12 hours a day," he says. "I am told that after the extraction, my face will remain swollen for at least two days, and I can't afford to have that as it'd affect the close-up scenes. If I take leave suddenly, then our schedules will be affected. I can't even think of a body double as I prefer to do every scene myself, even the long shots."
Even now, the actor is feeling feverish and is still taking painkillers to get into action. "I generally don't advocate medication, but this time there is no option. I can think of visiting the dentist only in the month end, when I have some free dates. Till then, its just painkillers," he says.
