Mumbai's Film City to be mordenised like RamojiMumbai: Maharashtra Government plans to develop and modernise the Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari in suburban Goregaon on the lines of Ramoji film city.

Culture Minister Sanjay Deotale said several proposals are being received and the modernisation plan is under process.

Speaking about Marathi cinema, Deotale said the government plans to revive the Film city at Kolhapur where several Marathi movies are shot.

"The film city will be Marathi movies' place of its own," he added.

He said the state government grants given to Marathi movies should be utilised to make quality movies rather than focussing on the number of films being made.

This year, the government gave away Rs 3.2 crore for 17 Marathi movies.
