Chapter 17
Nupur was pacing around in the drawing room and looking at the wall clock continuously. "Uff abhi bhi 1 ghanta!", Nupur said irritatedly.
"Bhai ko apni khush khabri bataane ke liye utaavli ho rahi hai, haina?", Taani, standing at the kitchen doorway, said to Nupur teasingly. Nupur turned around to face Taani and told her, "Taani plz yeh mazak ka waqt nahi hai, main bohot annoyed ho rahi hoon.", saying this, she fumed.
"Okay okay! Calm down yaar. Abhi 1 ghanta baki hai toh iss mein itna gussa karne ki kya baat hai? Tu shaanth hokar baith, dekhte dekhte time nikal jaayega.", Taani said to Nupur and made her sit on the couch.
Nupur sat furiously. Taani sat beside her, staring her teasingly and giggling. "Kya dekh rahi ho?", Nupur asked confusedly. Taani smirked and said, "Kuch nahin, bas aise hi. Anyways bhai ko bolna ki main usse bohot yaad karti hoon. Kash ki main jaa paati but tu toh jaanti hai ki aaj mujhe baccho ko dance sikhaana hai.", she said the last sentence with a frown. Nupur hugged her and said consoling her, "Aww koi baat nahi Taani. Waise bhi ek hafte baad woh toh aane hi waale hai." Taani hugged her back and said with lots of emotions depicting in her voice, "Main uss din ka besabri se intezaar kar rahi hoon." "Main bhi!", Nupur said and her beautiful eyes were shining with a flow of tears which reflected all her love for the one for whom she had waited such a long period of 6 months and the pain of staying separate from him.

Taani was teaching dance steps to her students, just when, her phone buzzed. She picked up the call, didn't even read the name flashing on the screen and said seriously, "Hello!"
"I love you!", said Anurag softly and kissed on the screen making Taani's cheeks turn crimson pink. "Hmm!", Taani said to make Anurag feel her presence. "Kya hmm? Jo kaha uska koi jawab toh de.", Anurag said with a pout. Taani looked here and there in embarrassment and said sternly, "Meri dance class chal rahe hai. Students saamne hai."
"Toh kya hua? Ek bar keh dena plz. Aakhir pyaar kiya toh darna kya.", Anurag said the last sentence a little dramatically. Taani covered her mouth to suppress her laugh. "Anu, students ke saamne mujhe embarrass feel mat kara.", she whispered. Soon she had heard the students giggling and saying something amongst themselves. She turned back to face her students and one of them, a 15-years-old girl said teasingly, "Ma'am aap bahar jaake baat kar lijiye, hum wait karte hai." Hearing that, Taani's cheeks turned dark red and on the other line, Anurag laughed imagining Taani's embarrassed expression and her blush. Taani ran outside taking the phone with him as she felt shy.
"Anu, tu bhi naa. Janta hai ki abhi meri class chal rahi hai phir bhi..", Taani said irritatedly which made Anurag giggle more. He said in between his giggle, "Taani, teri student ko toh sab samajh mein aata hai. I think ke uska koi boyfriend hai." Saying that, he burst out into laughing. "Shut up Anu aur phone rakh.", Taani said in an authoritative tone. "Pehele I love u bol.", Anurag demanded. Taani couldn't help but smiled beautifully and said, "I love u. I love u a lot." "Aaye Haaye!", Anurag said and grinned. Taani covered her face with her palm in shy. "I love u too. Jaldi aayunga. Bye. Take care.", Anurag said lovingly and hung up the call. Taani shook her head and shyly smiling, she went back to her class.

Nupur walked towards the jail Mayank was kept in. Seeing him smiling looking at a photograph made her grin. She stood outside the bars staring them and thinking that these bars would not be the barriers between her and her love anymore after a week. "Mayank!", she said softly. Mayank raised his eyes and hugely smiled seeing his Nupur in front of him. He stood up and stood near to her.
"Arey tu.. Tu kab aayi?", Mayank asked with an amazed expression. Nupur sweetly smiled and said, "Bas abhi abhi, jab aap woh photo dekh rahe the. Waise, woh kaunsi photo hai?", she said curiously.
"Oh yeh photo! Yeh photo hum charo ki hai. Dekh!", said Mayank broadly smiling and showed her the photo. Nupur stared the photo and said with a blissful smile on her face, "Destiny ne kaise kaise khel khele hum charo ko milaane ke liye. Anu da aur main Mumbai aate samay alag ho gaye, phir aap ne mujhe bachaya, phir dange huye, Anu da ne Taani ko bachaya, hum unhe sari raat khojte rahe, phir finally hum chalo mile aur ek saath rehene ka decision le liya, aur dekhte hi dekhte humari dosti ho gayi. Phir humare life mein problems aayi aur hum dono ko apne feelings ka ehsaas hua."
Her smile disappeared soon when she said, "Aur phir hum bichar gaye." Seeing the sadness on Nupur's face, Mayank said smilingly to lighten up the mood, "Aur aab hum phir se milenge, ek hafte baad." Nupur smiled contently hearing that and said, "Aap ko ek baat bataani hai."
"Haan bol naa. Kya baat hai?", Mayank asked curiously. Nupur gave a lucky smile and said, "Kal mera pehela recording hai."
"Kya?", Mayank said and he felt himself at a loss of words. After a moment, his lips curved into an ocean-sized smile and his eyes were teary. "Congrats Nupur! Finally tera sapna pura hone wala hai.", he said.
Nupur touched Mayank's cheek and said looking in his eyes intently, "Mera sapna tab pura hoga jab aap mere saath honge, mere paas." Mayank took her hand in his and kissing it, he said softly, "Woh bhi bohot jaldi hi pura hoga.", and this assurance brought a lovely smile on Nupur's beautiful face.
Nupur held Mayank's hand tightly. "Aaahh", Mayank screamed in pain which left Nupur completely shocked. "Kya hua?", she asked worriedly. Mayank hid his pain putting a forceful smile on his face and said, "Kuch khaas nahi Nupur."
"Nahi! Kuch toh hua hai.", Nupur said making suspicious look and she checked Mayank's palm and what she saw on it broke her totally.
Mayank's palm was full of red scratches. "Yeh kaise hua?", Nupur asked in a low voice staring at the scratches with moist eyes. "Woh.. kya hai naa.. ki patthar todte huye.. iss haat mein scratches aa gayi.", Mayank said in an expression of didn't-wanted-to-say because he knew that this would hurt Nupur a lot.
"Nupur, main theek hoon.", Mayank assured Nupur with a happy smile but Nupur felt her heart broken. Tears flowed from her eyes wetting her cheeks. "Nupur, fikar mat kar yaar. Main theek hoon.", Mayank reassured Nupur wiping off her tears from her cheeks.
Nupur was about to say something, just then, a constable arrived there, said, "Chalo, visiting time ko khatam hone mein sirf 2 minute baki hai." and left.
Without saying anything, Nupur lowered her head and kissed on Mayank's palm which made him close his eyes as he felt the heavenly pleasure. "Aab dard nahi hai.", he said with a peaceful smile looking intensely in Nupur's eyes which brought a slight smile on Nupur's face.
"Bye!", Nupur said waving her hand. Mayank gestured a thumb up sign to her and said with a broad smile, "All the best for the recording." Nupur happily smiled and said, "Thank u!" Then they both bid bye to each other and Nupur left. Mayank stared his palm and grinned remembering the moment when Nupur had kissed it and the pain disappeared in a blink.

Next morning, Nupur came to the recording room. She looked around the room nervously. Closing her eyes, she remembered the ones she loved the most, her brother Anurag and her love Mayank. This remembrance was enough to remove her nervousness and make her strong.
"Ready Nupur?", the music director asked enthusiastically. Nupur nodded. Her heart started pumping fast. This was the day she had waited for since her childhood and finally the day had arrived in her life but she wasn't feeling truly happy. Something was missing, she thought and she knew what it was.
Nupur again closed her eyes. "Nupur, main tujhe apna sapna pura karte huye dekhna chahta hoon." - these words of Mayank echoed in her ears and taking a deep breath, she started singing with a beautiful and sweet smile on her face.

Nupur closed her eyes and flashbacks of her moments with Mayank came in her mind, their first meet and hug, Mayank's accident and her realization of her feelings for Mayank, their love confession and the romantic moments they had before the day of court.

She opened her eyes and shed her tears realizing that her love Mayank was away from her. Even though he would be back to her after a week but a single week seemed like forever to her. Her tears reflected the pain she endured during the time when she waited for the love of her life, Mayank. But the next moment, she quickly wiped off her tears as she didn't want anyone to know about it.

She remembered the day 5 months, 3 weeks and 1 day back when she was being separated from Mayank and thought deeply about how she had felt and how he must had felt though he had hid his pain faking a smile at that time. The days after that she had spend without Mayank were long as he was not beside her to spend time with her. The chilly and cold days prettily didn't allow her to work whole-heartedly as she was away from the warmth of his arms that gave her heavenly pleasure and vanished off her exhaustness in a second. Thinking of all these made her eyes shiny again with an ocean of tears but somehow she controlled them to flow down her cheeks.
She ended the song getting an applause from her director. "6 din!", she whispered and sighed. Making a normal facial expression, she came out of the recording room and faked a smile when the director praised her voice. Her smile would not be fake when she would hear the praise of her singing from the person she wanted to hear first. "Sir, maine aap ko request kiya tha ki mera gaana ek extra cassette mein record karna, so kya woh aapne.. i mean.." The director smilingly said, "Haan haan! I did it! Yeh lo.", saying that, he handed Nupur a cassette and seeing it, Nupur broadly smiled and thought in mind, "At first i have to make him listen my voice first.", saying that, she slightly smiled.
