Hey guys!
I hope everyone's doing good.. I won't waste a lot of time blabbing (because I'm super sleepy.. 😳😆) so I'll get right to the point of this post. We've had a couple of issues rise up in the past month or so and they seem to be requiring a bit of a reminder of sorts - just a nudge back on track so to speak. 😳
"Negativity" in the forum
Recently we've heard many complaints about there being a shadow of "negativity" in this forum.. Now I know there has been criticism in this forum with regards to the current track/characters but I would like to point out that the criticism or "negativity" that has been posted in the past two months has not been any MORE than what it used to be before. Even in the past, members openly criticized the pointless tracks in the show - I've never seen this forum be scared of calling it like it is! If the members here don't like something, they DON'T like it and they are pretty clear on that. But they do so in a civil manner on the whole (except for the occasional heated comments). So to assume that this is a recent phenomenon is clearly a misconception. What makes it seem so much worst, I guess, is the fact that while in past members ALSO posted what they liked about the show, currently that hasn't been the case. The only members who have posted in the forum are those who do not like the show - and while they are free to do that, it gives the forum an over all "negative" feel.
So I guess, what I'd suggest is that members who DO like this track and this show make the effort and take out the time to post their thoughts and what they liked about it. Because while criticism may make the forum seem "negative", it is STILL acceptable! This forum is for everyone - members who like the show and who don't feel it's upto par anymore. And BOTH sides are welcome to express their views. I can say for a fact that no one will be bashed based on what they feel about the show and if any such instances do occur, they will be dealt with quickly and severely. But I really feel that the members themselves (those that like the show) will HAVE to take the initiative to make the forum as active with their thoughts as it is with any other perspective - they will need to make posts about stuff they like or things they enjoyed in the show. The DT cannot FORCE members to say that they "liked" a show or show preference to that show just like we cannot force members to stop watching it or to not like it. It's each member's prerogative - it's their CHOICE to decide what they feel for the show and express it.. and it's one they are clearly entitled to. All we can do is make sure that the discussion (good and bad) occurs in a civil manner and that all different school of thought with regards to the show be allowed to thrive. And THAT is something that we can enforce and will do without hesitation. I hope that members who have apparently been "afraid" to visit the forum (although we really don't see why because they would never be harassed/bashed for it.. 😕), feel a bit more at ease with respect to participating in the forum.
All comments - as long as they are respectful and civil in nature - will be accepted and respected! Co-existence and all! No one group or school of thought will be given preference in the forum - it hasn't happened yet (and I am sure a lot of the current/older members can vouch for that) and we don't intend on starting it now either. 😊
"Bashing" in the forum
Let me just clarify that there is a distinct difference between "criticizing" a character/plot and "bashing" actors/characters.. Any snide/vindictive comments made directly at the actor's personal appearance/choices will NOT be allowed. Members are free to express their dislike for the actor, but rude name-calling is not permitted. It is not allowed to insult/degrade an actor we do not like just because WE don't like him! But CRITICISM - saying that YOU dislike their acting/portrayal of a character - that is totally allowed. And we will not (and should not be expected to) restrain members from posting their CONSTRUCTIVE and CIVIL criticism with regards to the show and those related to it.
That being said, I would like to point out that there has NOT been a lot of bashing on this forum (there has been SOME but not a lot and we've tried to keep a lid on such behavior on the whole). There has been "criticism" and clear voicing of personal opinions - but that is not bashing. Just because someone doesn't like a person we like does NOT mean that anything they say be considered as them bashing the actor/character. We keep a strict eye on this and will absolutely not tolerate any such insults be hurled at an actor. But if you do come across something that you find questionable or something that you'd rather we look into, PLEASE send us a PM or report the post to us! I've said it time and again - Shabz and I are NOT telepathic! We do NOT know what everyone who posts in/visits this forum thinks.. 😳 Even though it may seem like we are.. 😆 Toh seriously! If you want us to look into something, you HAVE to tell us first! And I promise you we will look into it - but we can't look at something we aren't aware exists! *sigh* Please guys.. If you have ANY questions/concerns/complaints, we're just a PM away and we are ALWAYS eager to help.. 😳
Repetitive Topics
Lol! Yep! This one's back again.. We've noticed yet again a rise in repetitive topics throughout the forum and this time it's mainly topics stating just how much they "miss MR" or how "the show sucks" or any such variety.. Please understand that while you're free to express yourself and your dislike of the show, it serves NO purpose to post the same one-liner statement in a NEW thread every other day! If you have a particular scene/point that you'd like to discuss/criticize, you're absolute welcome and encouraged to open a new thread. But the generic "the show sucks now", "LTL-1 was better", "I miss MR" type of posts can all be collected in the already established thread. Any generic MR related discussion (i.e. non-news-related, just a general appreciation of his talent) can be posted in the MR Appreciation thread from now on (Mishal Raheja Appreciation Thread) and any new threads of this sort will be closed/merged from now on.
Also, in an attempt to reduce the number of repetitive topics, we will be re-opening the Criticisms Thread. Any generic complaints/comments can be posted in that thread to so that all such comments are collected in the same space. Again, you are absolutely encouraged to post separate threads for any specific scene/point/aspect of the show that you'd like to discuss or feel the need to criticize. The Criticism Corner will strictly be implemented on the generic comments alone! But you can also go ahead and post specific complaints in there too if you'd like - although you don't have to..
I hope we can help organize the forum a little better and resolve some of the issues that had presented themselves in the last few weeks. If you have ANY questions/concerns about any of the points above, please feel free to post them in this thread or if you'd rather, PM them to us. 😊
Thank you for all your cooperation!
