Chapter 44
They were done with dinner a long time ago and were now only killing time until midnight. A few couples were already on the dance floor and watching one particular couple dance away lost in each other, Simran rose from her chair and went close to Aditya asking him for a dance. He refused saying the Scotch had gotten to him and asked her to take Rohan with her...that way perhaps she could learn something from him since she was a rookie anyway...while he stayed back with Keerti to keep her company. This was the first time Aditya had initiated the mission rookie by himself so she got all excited about it...
She pulled Rohan onto the dance floor even without asking him...the music was soft and soothing...she took the lead and he followed. He smiled at the thought that she was taking the lead when she wanted to "learn" how to dance...she asked him why he was smiling and he just shook his head, his smile widening even more.
"You know, I've never seen Aditya jealous. Tighten your hold around me..I wanna know what he'll do..."
"Really? Adi? Jealous of me? " he said raising a brow...and when she saw he was not going to give in, she moved a step closer to him their bodies almost touch...almost. He smiled again and this time she asked more firmly why he was smiling.
"If you want a plant to grow...don't water it too often in hope it will grow faster...it could die from the excess nurturing." she widened her eyes at what he said. He always had the most subtle ways of getting his point across..and every moment she spent with him, she grew even fonder of him. He put his hand on her head when he realized the message was well received and she returned the gesture with a hug.
Suddenly there was a scratch on the table from shoving of a fork into the table...and surprisingly it came from Aditya. It wasn't the fact that she was dancing with Rohan...it was the song that played which made Aditya mad...

Everything's gonna be alright...This was the song they had first danced on...and now it had to play when she was dancing with Rohan. Without asking Keerti, he pulled her onto the dance floor and they stood close to where the other couple was dancing away...laughing and giggling...so much that they didn't realize Aditya and Keerti were now next to them.
Just then, Rohan's eyes fell on the dancing form in front of her...the drink must be getting to Keerti because she was grooving now...a bit sensually making her curves more prominent...totally oblivious of what she was doing. Simran noticed his accelerated hearbeat and followed his gaze to see Aditya and Keerti dancing close. By the time the song ended, three of their hearts were already pounding from jealousy...although irrationally because each knew there was least harm from them. As the music from another song started, the guys twirled the girls to switch partners...
Not expecting the sudden turn, she dashed right into his chest and as he steadied her, his hands touched the skin that was revealed from the stretching of her upper body causing her top to move up a little. He contemplated on whether he should remove his hand from there, but then he saw her hands glide up his chest and around his neck to hold him close...he took this time to tighten his grip around her a little...pressing on the skin around her waist.
She grooved effortlessly to the music as she felt light in her head...turning and resting her head back on his chest at times...she made it very hard for him to keep his hands off her when she did that. The last straw for him was when she arched her back so much that her head dug into the crook of his neck...he brought his hands up to her belly and pulled her closer to him closing in the distance between them. She was still swaying even after their bodies touched each other fully causing his insides to explode from desire. He abruptly turned her around to face him again...her eyes were still closed...even the sudden jerk of his movement did not startle her. He took in all of her facial features closely...so mesmerized he was that he didn't realize when his lips got close to hers to take them in a kiss...but before he could do that, she opened her eyes...
"You know...my head feels light...I feel I could fly...but my body...it's so...it's so...lethargic. If I didn't have bones, I would have fallen down I think...I feel so heavy" she paused a moment before asking him "Do you think I actually weigh heavier?"
"Let's find out..." he said before he swooped her in his arms to walk up the steps to the deck open to weather...where everyone was beginning to gather for the fireworks. Just as he put her down, he heard the music start again...causing an uproar in the crowd...

Double your pleasure, double your funHe took her face in his hands and caressed the skin on her cheeks with his thumb...her eyes were still closed and she was finding it hard to stand steady...he softly kissed her on her forehead and looked to see if she would open her eyes...when she didn't...he started moving closer to her lips and stopped just close enough to take in the breath that escaped from her parted lips. He closed his eyes to reassure himself that it was the right thing to do before finally changing direction and planting the kiss close to her lips. Just as he did that, she went completely limp and fell into his arms...

He looked down at her with mixed emotions...he was elated he had started the new year with her in his arms but a little disappointed that she was not in her complete wakefulness...
