Chapter Ten

Nupur and Taani were wandering outside Anurag's and Mayank's rooms. They were thinking how to arrange such a huge amount of money.

Nupur: Taani, mere pas kuch gold jewelries hai, unhe bech kar paise aa sakte hai.
Taani: Par Nupur..
Nupur: Taani, iss waqt sirf dada aur Mayank ke baade mein humhe sochna hai. Main woh gehene bechkar paise lekar aati hoon.
Taani (nodded positively): Theek hai Nupur. Tu jaa. Main bhi kuch intezaam karne ki koshish karti hoon.

Nupur nodded in a yes and left. Taani thought something and went to the doctor.

Taani: Doctor, aap please operation shuru kar dijiye, hum paise ka intezaam kar rahe hai.
Doctor: Dekhiye mujhe galat mat samjhiye. Jab tak aap paise deposit nahin kare, hum kuch nahin kar sakte.
Taani (got angry): Arey kaise doctor ho aap? Patients ke jaan ki koi fikar nahin hai aap ko. Ajib ho yaar!
Doctor: Dekhiye aap shaanth ho jaaiye. Aise chillaane se kuch nahin hoga. Pehele paise ka intezaam kijiye.

Taani got frustrated and left.

Nupur came to a jewelry shop.

Nupur: Excuse me!
Jeweler: Jee?
Nupur: Jee, mujhe apne yeh gehene bechne hai. (giving him the jewelries wrapped up in a handkerchief.

The jeweler checked the jewelries.

Jeweler: Dekhiye, inn sab geheno ke liye main aapko sirf 5 thousand de sakte hai.

Nupur thought in mind, "Sirf 5 thousand se kaise hoga?"

Nupur: Bhaia, kuch baraaye nahin jaa sakta?
Jeweler: I'm sorry but main aap ko sirf itna hi de sakta hoon inn geheno ke liye.

Nupur thought in mind, "At least, 5 thousand ka toh intezaam hua."

Nupur: Jee theek hai! Dijiye.

The jeweler went inside to bring the money. Nupur stared at the jewelries. Tears rolled down from her eyes. She said to herself, "Maa, aaj aapki yeh nishaaniyo ko main humesha ke liye khud se durr kar rahi hoon. I'm sorry, Maa. Par mujhe dada aur Mayank ki jaan bachaana hoga, kisi bhi tarah. Main unhe nahin kho sakti."

The jeweler handed 5 thousand rupees to Nupur. Nupur wiped out her tears and left from there.

Taani was walking on the streets and deep in thoughts. "Bhagwaan ji, please help karo." Suddenly she remembered, "Last time jab bhai ne chori ki thi tab 19 lacs unke haath lage the. Par unn paiso mein se toh 15 lacs karzaa chukaane men khatam ho gaya. Aur baaki 3 lacs toh.. Woh paise toh bhai ke account mein hoga. Par account number toh sirf bhai jaanta tha. Shiittt! Aab kya karu?!.. Bank mein jaakar pata karti hoon."

Taani went to the bank.

Taani: Jee, suniye! Mujhe Mayank Sharma ke savings account ke baade mein jaanna hai.
A man in the bank: Jee aap kaun?
Taani: Main unki behen Taani Sharma.
Man: Jee ek minute! Main computer mein check karta hoon.

After waiting for a while..

Man: Jee! Mayank Sharma ka account toh sealed ho chuka hai.
Taani: KYA? Par kaise?
Man: Woh Sanjay sir ka order hai ke yeh account sealed kar diya jaaye.

Taani thought in mind, "Yeh Sanjay toh bhai ka boss hai. Shittt!"

Taani left from the bank. Her phone buzzed at the moment.

Taani: Hello!
Nupur: Taani, kaha ho tum?
Taani: Nupur.. main.. woh.. Anyways, tum bataao! Paiso ka kuch intezaam hua?
Nupur (sad): Taani, main sirf 5 thousand ka hi intezaam kar paayi hoon.
Taani (after a pause): Dekh tu tension mat le. Maine paiso ka intezaam kar diya hai.
Nupur (happy): Sach? Toh tum jaldi se hospital aajao. Main yehi hoon.
Taani: Aati hoon.

After disconnecting the call, Taani thought worriedly, "Nupur tension naa le iss liye maine usse jhoot toh bol diya. Par aab paise kaha se laayu." Suddenly, she thought of something and set off for a place.

Taani came to the bar where she danced. She went to her boss Ritesh Basu with teary eyes.

Taani: Sir! Mera bhai aur dost hospital mein hai. Mujhe 50 thousand rupees ki zarurat hai. Boss please kuch kijiye.
Ritesh: Tumhari tabiyat toh theek hai? 50 thousand aise hi kaise de du?
Taani: Sir! Main 2 saalo se yaha pe kaam karti hoon. Please sir! Main dance karungi par uske badle mujhe 50 thousand rupees chahiye! Sir please!
Ritesh: Dance karke bhi itne saare paise nahin aate, Taani!
Taani: Toh phir aap hi bataaiye ke main kya karu? Main apne bhai aur dost ko aisi haalat mein nahin dekh sakti.

Ritesh stared at Taani greedily from toe to top. Taani felt uneasy.

Ritesh: Tum bohot kuch kar sakti ho, Taani!
Taani: Aap ka matlab?

Ritesh stood up, came near Taani and held her hand very tightly.

Taani: Sir, aap yeh kya kar rahe hai. Mujhe lag raha hai.
Ritesh (whispered): Tumhare paas khubsurati hai so tum...

Taani seemed to understand what he really meant. She slapped him with her other hand very hard. He got furious and pushed her hard. She bumped against the wall. He came near her and gripped her wrists against the wall.

Taani: Kya kar rahe hai? Chodiye mujhe.
Ritesh: Thappar maara phir bhi kuch nahin keh raha hoon, bas issi liye kyuki tum bohot khubsurat ho Taani. Main tumhe pura 50 thousand dunga par uske badle tumhe aaj raat mere paas aana hoga.

Taani was shocked. She was struggling to get off from her boss' tight grip. Finally she pushed him and said, "Teri himmat kaise huyi mujhse aise baat karne ki? Meri hi galti thi ke main yaha help maange aa gayi."

Ritesh: Sochlo, Taani! Sirf main hi tumhara help kar sakta hoon. Koi tumhe paise nahin dega. Sab jaante hai ke tum kaun ho aur kya ho.

Tears rolled down from her eyes as she remembered the pale faces of Anurag and Mayank at the hospital.

Ritesh: Kya soch rahi ho? Itna time bhi mat lo. Waha tumhara bhai aur dost maut ke mu mein...

Taani closed her teary eyes and said, "Theek hai! Main aa jaayungi."

Ritesh smiled evilly.

Ritesh: Intelligent girl.
Taani: Par paise mujhe abhi chahiye.
Ritesh: Aur agar paise milne ke baad tum nahin aayi toh?
Taani: Fikar mat karo. Main kisi ka ehsaan apne upar nahin rakhti.
Ritesh: Good for you, Ms. Sharma!

Ritesh gave her an envelope of 50 thousand rupees. She quickly took it and rushed to the hospital.

Nupur sat beside Anurag and put her hand on his forehead.

Nupur: Dada, please jaldi se theek ho jaaiye. Main aap ko aise haalat mein nahin dekh sakti.

Nupur turned her face around and saw Mayank in the beside room. She went to his room and sat beside him.

Nupur: Mayank! Aapki dost aapko aise haalat mein nahin dekh sakti. Please Mayank, mere liye apne aakhein kholiye.

Taani entered into Mayank's room. Nupur saw her and stood up.

Nupur: Taani! Woh paise deposit..
Taani: Maine paise deposit kar di hai. Nurses aur doctors aate hi honge bhai aur Anurag ko OT mein le jaane ke liye.

Nupur smiled and hugged Taani.

Nupur: Thank you so much Taani!

Taani hugged Nupur back. Tears rolled down from her eyes but she wiped those out not letting Nupur know that she cried.

After they broke their hug, the doctors and nurses came and took Mayank to the OT.

Mayank's and Anurag's operations were going on. Taani and Nupur walked around the OTs with worried looks.

Taani thought in mind, "Bhai, mujhe maaf kardena. Aaj maine ek aisa decision le liya jiske baad tu shayad mujhse nafrat karo. Anurag ki dosti toh main pehele hi kho chuki hoon, Nupur ki dosti bhi kho dungi. Par mujhe apni parwaa nahin hai. Mujhe toh sirf teri aur Anurag ki zindagi bachaani hai kyuki main tujhse aur.. Aur Anurag se bohot pyaar karti hoon. Shayad pyaar isse hi kehete hai. Khud ki parwaa kiye begair unke baade mein sochna jisne hum bohot pyaar karte hai. Bhale hi unke pyaar humhe naseeb naa ho par woh theek rahe, khush rahe, yehi dekh kar hum khush ho jaate hai. Yehi pyaar hai aur woh pyaar Anurag se karli!"

Mayank's operation was over. Doctor came out and informed Nupur and Taani that Mayank was fine. Taani and Nupur smiled in joy. Suddenly, they frowned and asked together, "Aur Anurag?!" The other doctor came out from Anurag's OT and said, "I'm sorry but.." Taani and Nupur asked together, "But what doctor?" The doctor told sadly, "Anurag has gone into coma." Taani and Nupur were shocked.

Taani stood beside Anurag's bed and was talking with her boss over her phone, "Main aa rahi hoon... Haan mujhe yaad hai sab kuch... Main aa jaayungi 10pm baje... Haan aa jaayungi... Kaha tha naa ki main ehsaan nahin rakhti..." On the other side, Anurag's fingers were slowly moving!

Mayank got conscious, saw Nupur beside him and smiled. Nupur saw Mayank getting conscious and hugged hm tight. Mayank was shocked but smiled.
