Something Called Love
Twenty Six
Few weeks passed, she left Pinkey's home same night when he gave her the punishment of forgiving. She did not mention it to anyone where she was going, why she was going. She changed her number and left no trail in there where anyone could find her. She did not meet anyone, not even Dadima, after what she done, she had left no more courage in her soul to meet her eyes it was beyond shameful. However she could not leave the city, and it was big city, she chose the area which no one can even think about, the only person in whom contact she was in was her father, she asked him not to tell anyone about her, not even her mother and brother. Her father was not well, he had been diagnosed cancer, and she could not help him anymore as all she earned in these years, she gave it back to him, except some nominal amount to bear her wear and tear. She eventually ended up in one small office as manager. She had to struggle a lot to find a new job, she could have been got new job easily if she would tell anyone that she had worked for Khuranas and Gujrals, but she cut off the cord and decided to live in her small world, bearing her punishment.
Apart from that, as she promised herself, she enrolled her name in some home designing and decorating institute, it was then, her time to finish her uncompleted dreams and achieve what she really wanted. She chose the path of which she was passionate for. He taught her the same. She was not happy about what happened in her life, but at least, she was satisfied that in all this mess, he managed to show her the path where her dreams could be achieved and lived. When she came here in this city, in blind race of ambition, money and sparkling dreams, she was blinded by her own problems, greed and ego. She decided to leave the way, the same root of her problems, money. She left everything behind and established a small little world of her, where she knew, sooner or later he would come.

He was doing his exercise regularly in his gym, with extra effort which reflected his anger and pain. He stopped for a moment and looked himself in front of the mirror, it was perfect, he was fit and fine. He looked straight into his own eyes - betrayed and confused, still there was optimism in his eyes as if they were refusing everything and finding her, adoring her.
'What are you looking at maan? Yourself? You still love her, don't you?'
'She tried to kill me.'
'You know she could never do thatā¦'
'I knowā¦I want to believe that. How could sheā¦? But she didā¦'
'Noā¦'
'Yes.'
'Trust your heart maan.'
'Facts are facts, maan. You have proof.'
'You know, she loves youā¦'
'Then why did she do thatā¦? Leave herā¦forgive herā¦forget herā¦'
'I haveā¦'
'You have notā¦'
'I haveā¦'
'Arrghhā¦' he screamed out loud on top of his lungs and broke the mirror before the inner battle within him could kill him. He stood there, trying to find himself in million pieces of glass on the floor, one more step ahead and he could injure himself, he was determined to walk further, just an attempt to heal his pain, it was his only remedy, make himself numb in extreme pain so no more pain can hurt him ever in his entire lifetime. He was about to walk and he saw her dadima coming and he controlled his anger, turned around and made a normal look.
'Maanā¦'
'Hmmmā¦'
'Many days have passed and we don't know where she isā¦'
'ā¦and we don't have to know where she isā¦'
'But beta sheā¦'
'ā¦is no one to me now.'
'Betaā¦you lovā¦'
'I do not love geet. I don't love her. I-DO-NOT-LOVE-GEET.' He said in anger.
'But what she did that you are soā¦'
'She justā¦'
He remained silent for a second and completed his sentence with painful eyes which he realized just before a moment only.
'ā¦used me.'
And he repeated the same.
'She used me.' And he left, leaving behind her grandmother, confused and sad.
She said after he left, 'But I never mentioned her name Maan. I don't know what happened with you two, but I will get the facts. I can't lose her like this, I can't see you in pain my son.'
And she immediately called adi.
***
She waited fifteen minutes for cab to catch, she was much tired and she could not even stand there for more than one second, her legs were wobbly, no more strength to walk further, and she finally got cab, she gave the address to the driver and took a breath for relief. She was lost in her thoughts when she heard the song playing on the FM.
Khoyi khoyi si hoon mein, Kyun ye dil ka haal he,
Doondhle saare khwab he, Uljha har khayal he,
Saari Kaliyan murjha gayi, Rang unke yaadon me reh gaye,
Saare gharonde ret ke, Lehrein aayi, leheron me beh gaye,
Before, she could take it anymore. The words representing her life, her mind and her heart, were piercing her heart with naked sword and causing her more pain. She asked the driver to change the station to get rid of the song. And he changed the station only to make her situation worst and most awful, she heard another song,
Kaante chun kar tera daaman phulo se me bhar jaounga,
Iss se badi saza kya hogi, Maaf tujhe me kar jaounga,
That was it, it was insult to the injury, and she immediately asked the driver to stop the car and got out from the car, gave him money and left from there walking, even though she was not in a position to walk.
She reached her small rented apartment after thirty minutes, she was much tired and as soon as entered the home, which was not at all home for her, it was just a house for her, she left her home the day when she left him. It was very small apartment with one small room and a kitchen; she used to live in room which she fondly called her 'mansion' as she decorated the place with her plants, her TV and her fridge. As designing was her natural talent, what she did in little time and least interest became a pretty small and beautiful place. She opened the fridge and look out for the last bottle of beer, she started gulping it down and watched TV, it was some emotional movie going on and she cried a river. It was her regular schedule.

After assuring that he was not home, Savitridevi called Adi and asked to her to meet her as soon as possible secretly. And she came to know about her plan and set up. She was shocked at first, she could not believe her used to be 'Daughter - in - law' and her evil intentions. She was not shocked for Geet as she knew that maya had made her a pawn in her game and she took advantage of her weakness, she knew that Maan was Geet's weakness, how she took advantage of her and her condition.
'I can't believe adi, how could she do it?' she asked unbelievably.
'I know Dadima, even I was shocked. And not only that, Dadima I think the accident of Maan was not just accident. I always knew he is a good driver; he could not get injured easily. There is something wrong about it, Dadima. Now, I'm sure.' He said confidently.
'Then go get the facts beta. I want you to know the real matter, just do something. Hire some detectives; do anything but tell me what happened that a brave girl like Geet accepted defeat.'
'I will Dadima, just one thing. In any case, Maan should not even get the slightest idea about this.'
'Don't worry about that.' she smiled.
'I know who will help us now.'
'Who?'
'Dev Singh Khurana, your grandson,'
'After all its time to tell him how lovely mother he got,' he added.
And then he left from there with determination. Few weeks later, they found out from the detectives and few loyal employees that Maya Gujral bribed the driver and the same driver removed the breaks from the car and it was not accident but an attack by someone. Savtridevi was shocked to know that she attached him, his son even she never considered him as his son but she attacked the person who was her husband's son and an elder brother of her son who loved him like his own brother. They even came to know that Maan was also searching for the person who attacked him, but before he could find anyone, she cleverly killed both the truck drivers and made it looked like it was planned by dev. Dev was shocked to hear that she even took advantage of him, her own son. He was devastated but eventually he decided to make her confess on her own and from her own mouth.
'She will get dose of her own medicines, now. Dadima, I will get my brother back, she will have to pay for this.' He said firmly and left.
He had to wait for few days and then he got chance. He trapped her in. She confessed him everything, how she manipulated Geet and how she took advantage of her weakness, how she made a deal with her to leave Maan forever.
'Have you seen him son? He is living like a dead body, so broken, so lost.' She smiled.
'I know mom.' Dev acted.
'I wanted to kill him but I think I made right decision by not killing him. That would be so easy and so boring. Poor Geet, she would be here with me if she would not have fallen in love with him. Ahhā¦they were so much in love. Fools.' She laughed monstrously.
'I love this. I cant tell you son how much I'm loving this, I just love to see him like this, his dad was just like him, I see that man's face in him, it give me strange peace.' She added.
'Anyways, I have to go now. I will meet you later.' He left.
After a while, when there was no one in the room, he came and took out the hidden tape, and a small camera from the vase and left smilingly.

As she was entering the main gate of her apartment, she felt someone was following her, she stopped and turned around to check but there was no one, she continued but again she felt someone and she stopped and waited for that someone to make a move, as the person move forward and she caught him. He was nik.
She offered him a drink but he refused, they sat on the couch, and she got that he found her address from her father who was on death bed then.
'Geets, I know you are not happy, but this is not the life you should live, you are in pathetic state. Come with me, I know you are hurt.'
'I can'tā¦'
'Your father wants you to marry me.'
'I can'tā¦'
'I know but you see time can heal any wounds. Just listen to him once, he is dying.'
'Nikā¦I don't love youā¦'
'I know but you willā¦with time. I have everything that you want; you will have to make compromise with life someday. This is not movie that you will get each and everything you want. You just have to compromise sometimes.'
She did not say anything as it did not matter her anymore, she had already lost her rights, if that was compromise for granting someone's wish, then she thought it was not much price to pay for. She had lost her life anyways, what remained was bundle of memories.
'Do I consider your silence as yes?'
She did not say anything; she just gulped down rest of the drink in one go and stared at the sky uninterestingly.

'We're getting engaged.' sameera said, jumping overjoyed and hugging dadima tight.
She looked at her grandson who was unaffected by the news and just staring at them uninterestingly.
'Dadima, next week I'm going Bombay for business meeting after I will come, I will talk to her parents and fix the date.' He said with dull expression. And he remembered last night when he met sameera in business party and took one of the important decisions of his life, carelessly and impulsively.
'Maanā¦'
He was drunk, sitting alone in the corner and having drunk five shots of vodka, he was losing interest in the party.
'Samā¦'
'I heard about geet. I'm so sorry for you baby!' she said pitiably
'Why? Am I dead? Don't ever sympathize me samā¦okay?' he said angrily.
'Okay.' She was scared.
'Are you okay?'
'Yeahā¦I'm fine. Perfectly fine.'
'Maanā¦I know you. Please share something with me. You are so alone. Would you like me to come with you? I will arrange everything, I know your clients, and they are good friends of mine.'
'I don't think so I would like to drag myself Bombay for thatā¦'
'ā¦but maan, there is good chance that you will get good exposure. I will do everything; you will just have to come.'
'Okay.'
'Okay.'
'Awā¦look at youā¦maan you are soā¦sad. I still love you maan. Please understand meā¦'
'Samā¦Iā¦'
'I know you don't trust anyone now but do you know one thing? My mom always used to tell me that don't marry a person whom you love so much but marry that person who loves you so much. I know maan you don't realize your love meā¦for now. But I know you. You will realize it one day.' She was crying by then.
He did not say anything.
'I waited for youā¦' she managed to say this trough tears.
'Samā¦I will marry you.' He stated that but did not even understand why.
'Really?'
'Yes.'
'Oh maanā¦I love you so much.'
And she hugged him. He did not, but he gulped down another drink in one shot. And he silently agreed. He did not even know what he was doing and why.
Soon they left for a dinner and savitridevi looked at her smilingly.
'There is nothing wrong in you sameera, you are a nice girl, but he loves only geet. This engagement will not happen.'
