Ups and Downs

Part 14

11^th April 2001

"Are you alright Maan?" asked the worried professor seeing a sweating Maan, "Sir, I am not well I suppose, I am feeling very restless" said Maan with an effort, "boys did he eat anything wrong in the lunch, or was he feeling unwell then also" asked the Professor to the rest of the students, "yes, sir he is restless since the morning and he did not eat also, only he did was pace here and there in the canteen" said one of the boys, "ok one of you please take him to them sick room" ordered the professor. One of the boy's took his bag and held his hand and walked him out of the class, as they were going to the sick room Yash saw them, he had been dropping Rajji after lunch date, "hey, Maan what happened?" asked Yash rushing to him, "Yash, can you drop me home?" asked Maan "why not? Of course come I'll drop you" and took him to his bike. The boy gave the bag t0 Yash and left for the class.

Once in the chawl they found the door of his room locked Savitri most probably went to the Mahila Udyog, "Maan come with me I'll take you to my place" Yash said making him sit again on the bike, "no, Yash this is your office hour drop me at Adi's I have his room key and the neighbor there will help me" "but" "please Yash I'll be more comfortable here" "ok as you say" and Yash took him to Adi's and fortunately Adi was there working on some books. (Adi does not live here but lately has taken a room as he was working on this operation Daljeet and needed some space where they can move easily) Adi gave Maan a worried look "what happened dude?" he asked "don't know Adi, all I know is some thing is definitely wrong since few hours I am getting a feeling that Geet is not well, I just feel that she is calling me, Adi I am not able to understand, she seems to be very nervous" Maan said almost in tears. "Wait, let me call Chameli she has the international calling card we can call Geet's place or rather she can call her, she is in touch with her" Adi went out and called the tea boy, "hey chitta, go and call Chameli tell her come immediately at my place and also tell him that Maan is not well, and beware no gossiping or you know what will happen" the boy ran and called Chameli, she rushed to the room and on way gave the boy a 10 rupee note.

"what happened?" she asked entering the room Adi briefed her, Maan was all the time pacing in the room and closing his eyes in between and rubbing his head now and then, "what is the date today?" asked she "you are asking the date what rubbish, BTW today is 11^th " she gave Maan a shocked look and thought (she was due this week, is it that she is in labor and he is feeling restless) "wait, Maan I'll just call her place and find may be she has that exam today she had been preparing for few months, that's why she is restless" Chameli called Dev's place and found that both NT and Geet were in labor, NT has given birth to a baby boy but Geet was still struggling in pain. She closed her eyes and thought (Geet this is what is love and you say that he will move on, look here 1000s of miles away from you he can still feel your pain, though he does not know but still he can feel you calling him, Geet you are lucky that you have him) "Maan, she is in the examination hall and should be hell nervous why don't you cool down" she said to Maan "how can I cool down Chameli? There she is so panicked and here you want me to cool down" he gave her a disgusted look , she felt like telling hi where Geet was but the promise "look Maan you can feel her insecurities and if you will also panic don't you think she will feel more tensed" he looked at her in surprise "so what shall I do?" she made him sit on the floor "imagine you are holding her hand, now say something good, like Geet calm down love, all will be ok, just try a little more, you will succeed and tell her how much you love her, how much you are proud of her, tell her no matter what the result is you will always be by her side, tell her she can trust you, come Maan tell her" Maan looked at her in awe and imagined himself holding her, caressing her hand he gave her a soft peck on her forehead and said "Geet calm down love, calm down look I am here by your side, don't panic my dearest I will always we with you in all your ups and all your downs, I know you love me as much as I love you, there is no returning from the path we treaded together, believe me Geet no matter what happens no matter what comes I will always be here waiting for you with my arms open and heart full of love only for you, Geet you may be far away from me but your heart still beats in me and my heart in your body, no matter how many years will there be of separation I will always remain yours Geet try your best and God will do the rest as I know what you are struggling for is my love that you have in your heart for me, Geet please cool down" and he went on and on Chameli and Adi stood there looking at him in astonishment it seemed that he was really holding Geet in his arms and whispering those soothing words in her ears.

Berkley, 4:00 am

She felt as if Maan was holding her and saying "Geet calm down love, calm down look I am here by your side, don't panic my dearest I will always we with you in all your ups and all your downs, I know you love me as much as I love you, there is no returning from the path we treaded together, believe me Geet no matter what happens no matter what comes I will always be here waiting for you with my arms open and heart full of love only for you, Geet you may be far away from me but your heart still beats in me and my heart in your body, no matter how many years will there be of separation I will always remain yours Geet try your best and God will do the rest as I know what you are struggling for is my love that you have in your heart for me, Geet please cool down" she can feel him sitting by her side and this eased her pain, she felt him caressing her hand her arms, rubbing her temples, combing her hair asking her to try a little more telling her that he was and will be by her side always and she felt him around her even smelt him.

Finally at 6:00am the twins were born with a difference on 1 min.

India, 6:02 pm

Maan gave out a sigh and rested his head against the wall. Chameli looked at him and thought (may be the kids are out) she giggled and waited for another hour mean while Maan cuddled on the bed sleeping he was all exhausted Adi was not able to understand what was going on and gave up and went on with his work, Chameli went to her room and later in the night called Dev "are they boys or girls?" she asked "how d you know?" he was surprised he has not yet said any thing "BTW congrats for the baby boy and what about Geet?" "A boy and a girl" "6:00 am sharp" "but how do you?" "So Dev now you know who the father is?" "Yes, but he is younger then her" "so, what Dev he loves her to cores" "but how" "you were asking me how did I know? Maan was feeling restless since she went to labor and you know the moment the kids were born he was peaceful and at present he is sleeping, you can ask Geet did she not feel that he was sitting by her side holding her telling her to trust him and also telling her how much he loves her, just ask Geet you will get the answers" "this means he knows about the kids" "no he does not, all he knew was that his Geet needed him to be by her side, what else does Geet need from him to prove his love" and Chameli hanged feeling tears burn in her eyes.
